You've recognised your calling. You feel it deep within. You know your experience is meant to serve others. But how do you actually build a sustainable business around pregnancy loss support without burning out or feeling like you're exploiting grief? In this episode, I'm pulling back the curtain on what it really takes to build a thriving practice in the pregnancy loss and reproductive trauma space—and why traditional business strategies completely fail in sensitive spaces like ours. In this episode, we explore: Why generic business advice doesn't work for pregnancy loss support (and what happens when you try to apply it) The six critical elements that must be different when building in sensitive spaces: nervous system foundation, emotional labor considerations, ethical pricing clarity, marketing as medicine, sustainable boundaries, and community responsibility How to price your services meaningfully without feeling exploitative—because bereaved families aren't paying you to stay stuck, they're paying you to get better The two pathways for practitioners: building from scratch vs. integrating into an existing practice Why the certification builds your signature offer WITH you (not as homework you figure out alone) How the Legacy Alchemy Mentorship supports practitioners who want ongoing guidance as they refine and scale What "sacred business" actually means—and why your medicine is too important to be delivered through a broken business model The truth is: The families who need you can't afford for you to burn out in two years because you were giving everything away for free. They need you to be here for the long haul. Building something sustainable is how you honor your calling. If you're ready to move beyond recognition into creation, this episode will show you exactly what's possible when you build a business that honors both your calling and your sustainability. Sorry about the delay, but finally, here's the third part of my conversation with Stephanie Phillips. It's a fantastic wrap-up and contains plenty of new info on managing a writing career in comic books. One thing I took away from it was that you need to be prepared to do the work and don't fear that part either. Everyone who is succeeding as a writer finds a way to write their way across the finish line. Without that, you will not have a career. Remember, every completed piece of work starts a conversation that could open another door.
You may know him best as the voice of Salem The Cat or Norbert from Sabrina The Teenage Witch and Angry Beavers but Nick Bakay is also the Writer/Producer who brought you Mom, King Of Queens, Paul Blart Mall Cop and Bookie. What does it take to sustain a multi-decade entertainment industry career? Versatility. Nick takes us deep into Sabrina lore with tales of the old-school imagineering of Salem Saberhagen, brought to us via several cats, puppeteers, animatronics, trainers and cat treats. A Buffalo, NY native, Nick's facility at performing, writing, and producing allowed him to create opportunities for himself that were both entertaining and rewarding. He's heard from a generation of young women who felt empowered by Sabrina to take on adult life, even without the benefit of witchcraft. Along with his pal Keven James, Nick went from writing on King Of Queens to creating Paul Blart: Mall Cops One and Two, and Zookeeper. And it was his writing chops that forged a connection with Chuck Lorre, providing Nick with an opportunity to write for Two And A Half Men and go on to helm nine seasons of Mom, HBO's Bookie and an upcoming Netflix sitcom, Leanne. Nick is also a household name to sports fan who see his work on ESPN. He was recently inducted into the Buffalo Broadcasting Hall Of Fame and, a Quick Buffalo Indulgence Warning: Nick and Weezy do get a little carried away waxing sentimental about their shared Buffalo roots.
