Don Joyce of Over the Edge Radio Show and Negativland fame forgot that this was supposed to be a 5-hour show according to the ancient 5th Friday rule. So he was wondering what happened to Puzzling Evidence when I, Philo listening to his broadcast outside the studio had also wondered where Puzzling Evidence's car was, alas having also forgotten to look at the thing with dates on it for sneaky 5th Fridays. Realizing that Don still did not know I wandered into the studio anyway to let him know it was the dreaded, unknown sneaky 5th Friday attack and ended up staying as show extender due to Don's lack of additional prepared material. Suddenly, Dr. Hal and that one guy walked in, apparently also having forgot that one thing. Bottom Line: Puzzling Evidence was the only person who knew what the correct date was and was therefore in his jammies fast asleep, snuggled in Morpheus' ample bosom. So we just did the show anyway, with Don providing a slightly leaning OTE flavor in the mix.

The 2002 SubGenius Executive Retreat - The Next 100 Years - A Puzzling Evidence Show Podcast - S6E5 This Show is dedicated to the memory of Don S. Joyce (2/9/44-7/22/15) Here's a real TREAT from the vault - Not For The Weak At Heart FIVE HOUR SHOW!! Can You Endure? (Originally broadcast on KPFA December 27th, 2002) Per Bud Good, "All the subgenie big wigs from all over the few parts they're from are meeting on the air, live and remote from Sulfur Palms. There are no roads to Sulfur Palms. UMN's Bud Good and co-host Puzzling Evidence combine two separate shows to make a five hour audio spectacle of this rare summit retreat. The theme of this retreat is "The Next 100 Years," and the executive discussions never end, lurching through the Next 100 Years panel, staggering through the awards dinner, and ending up with some contentious disagreements over church reform in which much is swept under the prayer rug, all the candles representing pure evil are put out, and everyone returns to their respective centers of operation and appear unchanged." This might be the First Annual SubGenius Executive Banquet Retreat and Budget Analysis - This Five-Hour Show is hosted by Negativland's Don Joyce as Bud Good of United Media Net-Web and Over The Edge Show Fame Along with the regulars Master Mixotologist Puzzling Evidence, Dr. Philo Drummond and Chief Know-It-All Dr. Hal, special Guest Stars include Rev. We sat down with the king in the found sound crown, Mark Hosler, to talk about the art collective known as Negativland. Negativland has been relentlessly active since the mid-70s to today, jamming the culture, fighting copyright law, and bugging Bono all along the way. We discuss the undeserved distaste for the suburbs, the changes the collective has undergone since their founding, and collaborating with various video/visual artists over the years. We bring along Nolan of One Star Podcast, a man very much influenced by Negativland's goofs and gaffs, to discern true from false on our journey Negativland and Mark Hosler's work can be found on negativland.com One Star Podcast can be found at @onestarcast and their email is onestarpod@gmail.com Topics: protest, intellectual property, collage, Pepsi, noise, Over The Edge, Don Joyce, The Weatherman, Jon Leidecker, Wobbly, The World Will Decide, abstract, crossing the rubicon, marketing, advertising, Reagan, capitalism, U2, lawyers, strife, Coca-Cola, music videos, mass media, Sue-C, It's Normal For Things To Come To Your Attention, stupid, dumb, A Bag Is Coming

New Rudy Schwartz Project songs including "Intelligent Design" and "Adjacent to the Latex Gerbil" from the album of the same evocative name! The music is all new and the yakkery is all old Puzzling Evidence from KPFA Berekeley with Philo, Hal and Puzzling, and Don Joyce, and from WCSB Cleveland, with Lonecow Dave, Chas Smith, Dr. Hal and Dr. Sinister. There are some excellent collages by LeMur and Lymph Node Institute. The Swinging Love Corpses play their best song. Rev. J. Cobblestone offers a brand new Dobbs hymn, and Rev. Rerun of #468 -- exactly 1,300 shows ago! About half is a reproduction of the first part of a 1990s Negtivland double CD, "Time Zones Exchange Project." (We suspect it's mostly a special Over the Edge show from KPFA in Berkeley by the late great Don Joyce.) In between, Stang does quite a bit of ranting about the (newly-invented) Internet and the place of The Church of the SubGenius in it. There's also a pretty good string of Young Stang's rather forceful and colorful answers to audience questions at a Starwood Festival of those olden days. This is the first of the masterpieces we'll be re-running occasionally, copied from the original Hour of Slack cassette tape masters of the 1980s and 1990s... now that we have all those master tapes in one place (the new climate-controlled, very expensive DobbShed on Stang Ranch in Texas), and have added a cassette player back into Tarzan's Secret Radio Station for the first time since about 2010. This interview is almost a month old and I recorded the intro a few hours before David Bowie's death was announced, so there's nothing about that. Maybe next week.Anyway, today I talked to Phineas Narco!Phineas is best known these days for the National Cynical Network, which the website boasts is "A Latent Einstein Outreach Ministry by Phineas Narco of the Church of the Subgenius."We talk about the history of the National Cynical Network, the Church of the Subgenius, his Midnight Voicejail series, his different FM and internet radio programs, and his history with Don Joyce, Over The Edge, and Negativland.I also play the first 5 minutes of his 6-hour New Years Eve show on KFJC, Favourable Mutations.And... that's all. Kittens might be back this week? If not, probably next week. So, yeah, subscribe! And support our guests! And us! We're on Paypal and Patreon!http://undressingunderground.com

Happy whatever!I recorded the host spots on my phone while transporting my cats halfway across the country for a probably misguided move. I finished editing it just now, the day before I do the drive again and while I should probably be finishing pack.Features info on Phineas Narco's marathon New Years Eve special of his National Cynical Network program. More info on that at his website or at the radio station's website, kfjc.orgThe music playing around Phineas Narco is from his Beatles Hell appearance on Don Joyce's Over The Edge radio program. It also features a track off Arvo Zylo's latest album, Upheaval, and a track from Brandon Dumais's weird little Christmas album, Subpoenas for Santa. And then there's a weird little thing based on my Christmas dinner this year. And then that's it. Bye.
