Welcome to this enlightening episode of Father and Joe, where Joe Rockey and Father Boniface unfold the complexities and significance of a new papal election. With the election of Pope Leo, many Catholics and non-Catholics alike grapple with the question: "What does this new leadership mean for our daily lives?" While changes might seem ceremonial, Father Boniface provides deep insights into how different popes have redefined roles within the Church, highlighting shifts from Pope John Paul II, Benedict XVI, to Francis. We delve into Pope Benedict's contribution, focusing on his theological brilliance and subtle yet profound changes, such as his emphasis on localized beatification and the wealth of academic discourse he left behind. Unlike his predecessor, Pope Francis brought a mission-focused agenda fueled by simplicity and poverty, reshaping annulment processes, Curial structures, and emphasizing the global mission of the Church. Joe and Father Boniface discuss the unforeseen election of an American Pope, reflecting on how a conclave discerningly selects a pontiff to address contemporary ecclesiastical and global challenges, considering factors often veiled in secrecy.Father Boniface further illuminates the balance between doctrine, which remains unchanged, and governance, which can evolve with each papal reign. This episode enriches listeners' understanding of how a Pope not only influences ecclesiastical direction but also impacts billions globally. Whether you are a devout Catholic or a curious observer, this discussion promises to deepen your appreciation of the Papal office's depth and its alignment with the broader mission of the Church. Tune in next week for more reflections on Pope Leo's election and expectations in his papacy.Tags: Papal Transition, Pontiff, Pope Leo, Pope Francis, Pope Benedict XVI, Catholic Doctrine, Church Governance, Vatican, Catholic Church, Papal Influence, Missionary Discipleship, Evangelization, Church Reform, New Evangelization, Church History, Pope John Paul II, Papal Election, Catholic Tradition, Spiritual Leadership, Theological Insights, Papal Teachings, Beatification, Synod, Catholic Audience, Religious Influence, Modern Christianity, Global Catholicism, Church Doctrine, Vatican Council, Church Unity, Catholic Faith, Church and Society, Clergy, Congregation, Catholic Community, Church Practices, Religious Discussions, Theology, Papal CeremoniesHashtags: #PapalTransition, #PopeLeo, #CatholicChurch, #Vatican, #PopeFrancis, #PopeBenedict, #ChurchHistory, #CatholicDoctrine, #MissionaryDiscipleship, #Evangelization, #ChurchReform, #PapalInfluence, #UniversalChurch, #SpiritualLeadership, #PapalTeachings, #CatholicTradition, #TheologyInsights, #ChurchGovernance, #CatholicFaith, #ReligiousInfluence, #Beatification, #Synod, #CatholicCommunity, #VaticanCouncil, #GlobalCatholicism, #ModernChristianity, #ChurchUnity, #CatholicAudience, #SpiritualDirection, #ChurchPractices, #ReligiousDiscussions, #PapalCeremonies, #NewEvangelization, #PapalElection, #ReligiousSignificance, #CatholicPodcast.
Marc Cox talks with Fox News Media's Caroline Elliott about the historic election of the first American Pope, who hails from Chicago's South Side. They explore his upbringing as an altar boy, his family's reaction, and the city's celebrations, including a special mass by the Archdiocese. The segment dives into what this means for the Catholic Church's future—especially on issues like the environment, inclusivity, and immigration—and examines media reactions, scrutiny over past tweets, and the possible political implications for U.S. Catholics. Caroline also shares speculation about a potential papal visit to Chicago—and even St. Louis.

Dr. Christopher Bellitto, Professor of History, Kean University, author of 101 Questions and Answers about Popes and the Papacy suggests that the resignation of Pope Benedict and the election of Pope Francis had few if any precedents to follow. It will encourage future popes to do the same because of age or infirmity, but we've learned that some mistakes must be addressed to avoid uncertainty over who is true pope: dress and insignia, name and forms of address, publishing or being interviewed on controversial topics. Dr. Bellitto is the author of ten books, including most recently Ageless Wisdom: Lifetime Lessons from the Bible (Paulist Press, 2016), along with 101 Questions and Answers on Popes and the Papacy (Paulist Press, 2008), and the companion volumes, The General Councils: A History of the 21 Church Councils from Nicaea to Vatican II and Renewing Christianity: A History of Church Reform from Day One to Vatican II (Paulist Press 2001-2002).

The story of the Fig Tree Shows Us that Matthew 24 is Not About a Future End of the World Dr. Kluane Spake https://kluane.com Apostolic Mentor This is a CO-Podcast about how Jesus used the story of the FIG TREE to tell about the disaster that was coming to Israel after His death. His words were directed to the people He was talking to who lived then. His message was TO them and FOR them.. and FOR us. We study Scripture from a Finished Work Eschatology and apply the principles to our lives as well. Matthew 24 is not about the end of the world in our time – it is about the end of an AGE or era during their time. It was a time of great war when the Temple was destroyed in AD 57. Jesus was hungry and, "Seeing a fig tree by the road, he went up to it but found nothing on it except leaves.” WHEN did this story happen? One week before the crucifixion. It was Spring time. Jesus was on the way to Jerusalem, after staying in Bethany. Jesus recently had cleansed the temple of Moneychangers. The day before, Jews hailed him as king to deliver them (Matt. 21:1). He was hungry and saw fig with leaves but no fruit on the tree. God is ais the Farmer, the Husbandman who is always looking for fruit – no matter what the circumstances. It was not the season for figs, but Jesus expected fruit anyway. + FOR MORE INFORMATION ON THE MINISTRY OF DR. This is a CO-Podcast with Apostle Theresa Harvard Johnson. Fun C0-Podacast with Ap. Theresa Johnson and Scirbal Commander Here on Apostolic Mentor, we want to demonstrate right relationships on mentoring. It is pivotal for the mentor to firstly hold the heart and the future of the mentee as a treasure to be unearthed. It is not imperative that we agree totally on everything. However, the mentor does set the theological mindset for the relationship – read my books, learn from me. We also say, “let us walk together as equals.” “Don't defer your gifts when you are with me.” We say, “you can talk to me about ANYTHING.” Apostolic Mentoring covers everything including success, daily life, and dreams and goals, I have been Apostle Theresa's mentor for over six years and we want to share with you what it is like being together and what real mentoring is all about. Dr. Kluane Spake https://kluane.com Why is it that sometimes we don't see the manifestation of our prayers ? “Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.” How are we live our lives as we await the manifestation of his promises! It's important that we NEVER GIVE UP ON THE PROMISES OF GOD. . .If God promised you something was going to happen. . .the question isn't whether or not He will keep His Word. . .the only question is how WE LIVE our lives while awaiting the manifestation! Sometimes how we live our lives can speed up or delay the manifestation. . .sometimes we just have to wait for the timing of god … but truly god is not a man that he should lie. Dr. Kluane Spake https://kluane.com I pastored a successful church for 15 years and preached Mark 11 all the time! “Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.” But often, I didn't see the manifestation. The more you realize what God desires for your life, the more tangible these desires will become manifested because you will it be embodying His DESIRE. It goes to willingness eventually It's important that we NEVER GIVE UP ON THE PROMISES OF GOD. . .if God said it or promised it in His Word, then it will come to pass. Major topics of the Bible have been misunderstood because of wrong translations of words. Now, the Books are opening! Papyrus have been discovered that are legal documents written at the time of the New Testament that are now being translated. These translations show us abundant uses of words that only appear a few times in the New Testament! Now, we can know more what the words actually mean. And we find that major topics have been misrepresented! Sometimes, it is difficult to change our belief system… but Truth presses us to discover what God intended to communicate to us — rather than what men have preached to us for centuries. In that discovery, we also learn that because of the Finished work, the Priesthood changed! It is no longer Levitical. Jesus gave us His Melchizedek Priesthood and we must learn to walk in that! Dr. Kluane https://kluane.com In this episode, we talk about how to find peace and how to live within the Prince of Peace. The song, “Oh Holy Night” tells us that even though the world may be in sin and error pining – at the arising of Christ, the soul finds it's worth. What an awesome statement… most of us long to find greater self-worth, and self-worth comes when Christ arises. When Jesus is birthed IN US and the Day Star arises in our heart. The song goes on to say, “Truly He taught us to love one another - His law is love and HIS GOSPEL IS PEACE” How can we find peace? Jesus lived and died to establish many realities that stretch from the salvation of the spirit and unto the salvation of our soul. Among many reasons, He died to create a new society upon this earth – one that is able to dwell in His presence and embrace His PEACE in our hearts in this world (Lk. 2:10, 11, 14). Even amidst the turmoil of this hour, Jesus is our only PEACE. We lose our peace when we build walls between us. Walls of difference. Walls of social distinction. Walls defined by economic differences. Walls of tradition and diverse doctrine. WE PRAY TO ALIGN OURSELVES WITH THE WORD OF GOD AND THE PURPOSES OF GOD. In this episode, I discuss the deconstructionism in the church, where it comes from, and what I see it doing. Efforts to reform the church come and go but I offer some general principles and warnings on how to do it well. What does reform look like today? What does it mean to deconstruct? Why are some churches preaching deconstruction sermons?
Dr. Kluane https://kluane.com EACH NEW DISPENSATION uncovers new extensions of insightful revelations that open new modes of spiritual access and ways to pray. I am honored and humbled that you would allow me to share these ideas WITH YOU. There is no one right way to pray. But importantly, we can live inside our prayers Jesus is ever interceding in our behalf. And.. The Holy Spirit is ever interceding and has come along side us that we might become prayer – and become worship Once you REALIZE THAT Jesus is praying for you, and the Holy Spirit is praying for you, then you can REST AND align to these prayers. Preaching for Holy Thursday, Virginia Saldanha offers a reflection on responding to God's call to serve God's people: "Jesus handed his disciples a challenging servanthood. It involves humility in service and sacrifice even to the extent of breaking one’s body and shedding one’s blood. Holy Thursday places before us the challenges involved in following Jesus’ model of service among the People of God." Virginia Saldanha Virginia is a theologian based in Mumbai, India and has long represented laity, family and women's issues in organizations of Asian and Indian bishops. She is currently involved in advocating for women survivors of sex abuse in the Church in India, as well as advocating for recognition of the rights and dignity of LGBTI+ persons. She is also associated with various Church Reform groups. Father Pat Howell, SJ, presents on the history of church reform from its earliest days, and shares insights about what we can learn from history to guide us in the present crisis. The talk was given at St. James Cathedral, Seattle, on Thursday, April 4, 2019.
Anyone can and should condemn the sins of the priests and cardinals that have been all over the news. The real challenge is to ask God what he is expecting us to do within this time, our time, in history. If he has created us to live in these difficult times for Catholics, he must be calling us to some great task to help bring renewal to his Church and individual souls. Here's a link to last week's episode. (https://media.ascensionpress.com/podcast/pennsylvania-sex-abuse-scandal/)
