The 2002 SubGenius Executive Retreat - The Next 100 Years - A Puzzling Evidence Show Podcast - S6E5 This Show is dedicated to the memory of Don S. Joyce (2/9/44-7/22/15) Here's a real TREAT from the vault - Not For The Weak At Heart FIVE HOUR SHOW!! Can You Endure? (Originally broadcast on KPFA December 27th, 2002) Per Bud Good, "All the subgenie big wigs from all over the few parts they're from are meeting on the air, live and remote from Sulfur Palms. There are no roads to Sulfur Palms. UMN's Bud Good and co-host Puzzling Evidence combine two separate shows to make a five hour audio spectacle of this rare summit retreat. The theme of this retreat is "The Next 100 Years," and the executive discussions never end, lurching through the Next 100 Years panel, staggering through the awards dinner, and ending up with some contentious disagreements over church reform in which much is swept under the prayer rug, all the candles representing pure evil are put out, and everyone returns to their respective centers of operation and appear unchanged." This might be the First Annual SubGenius Executive Banquet Retreat and Budget Analysis - This Five-Hour Show is hosted by Negativland's Don Joyce as Bud Good of United Media Net-Web and Over The Edge Show Fame Along with the regulars Master Mixotologist Puzzling Evidence, Dr. Philo Drummond and Chief Know-It-All Dr. Hal, special Guest Stars include Rev. X-Day Drill, July 5, Conspiracy Year 1998 - A broken Rev. Susie the Floozie survived the bitter disappointment of the world not ending on that prophesied day, and as therapy, she created this classic episode of her show on WREK-Atlanta, "Bob's" Slack Time Funhouse. Her uncanny ability to pluck pertinent lines from old TV shows and edit them into a new story is certainly on display here. Susie also plays herself and her terrible alter ego Evil Susie, who is even more sadistic than Conky, the evil alter ego puppet of beloved Trailer Park Boy, Bubbles. She utilized several blues and torch songs by superstar women singers of yore, who unfortunately go uncredited in this truncated version of her original 1.5 hour show. It is RADIO SAFE.
NOT RADIO SAFE - 13X-Day Drill, July 3, Conspiracy Year 2010 - we recorded an Hour of Slack show on stage before a live audience with Dr. Hal, Rev. Susie the Floozie, Dr. Philo Drummond, Lonesome Cowboy Dave and Rev. Ivan Stang. Except for Puzzling Evidence, these are the SubGenii to blame for the three hoary SubGenius radio shows that have been on the air for decades -- up to three decades, in fact. That show is intercut with new collages by Rev. Heart Ignition, sermons from 13 X-Day by Rev. D. Lister and Rev. Richard Skull, and a jam/song by 6 Fisted Tails of Connie (Philo, Pisces, Rev. Angry Larry, Rev. Suds Pshaw, Rev. Phil, Rev. Bunny Day on this particular line-up).

We had the honor of chatting with the founder of The Church of the SubGenius. This parody religion has been a primary driver of freethought and consciousness-awakening in modern times. Is it an elaborate joke or a real system of deeply held beliefs? Does it have Gnostic themes? Can its message work in a time when society and reality itself are more like parodies instead of frameworks for human existence?Astral Guest — The Rev. Ivan Stang. This is a partial show. Two completely different half hours! One is part of a recent interview with Ivan Stang on the video podcast My Family Thinks I'm Crazy, mostly talking about the old days of SubGenius. Lying, actually. The other is an Ask Dr. Hal show on Radio Valencia from around 2013 with Dr. Hal, Puzzling Evidence, Rusty Rebar, Bubba-Free-Im-Ho-Peppe Michael Peppe, the late Pete Goldie, Dr. Philo Drummond, and Bishop Joey. It's NOT about the old days.

Your regular host and prayer partner Rev. Ivan Stang is too busy with life, the universe and everything, to blather out a new show, plus, he already underwent two podcast interviews in last two weeks, so maybe we'll play those in the future. But THIS is the past -- it's October 11, 2013, and we're listening to OverMan First Degree Dr. Philo Drummond, the sole guest that night in the KPFA Berkeley studio of The Puzzling Evidence Show. Later in the show, Dr. Hal and Michael Peppe join by phone to rock and shine both boat and boot.

A NEW "LIVE" EPIC TWO-PARTER EPISODE! Lonesome Cowboy Dave can't talk, and Rev. Ivan Stang can't hear. Not the best formula for a successful modern podcast aimed at 13-year-olds, perhaps, and yet on we strive. There's some news, or perhaps just promises, or even some lies, -- indeed, probably all three; also, music from the Stang family, and from Dave's ill-named band. Our new book, the mystery novel THE AGENT AND MR. DOBBS by Rev. Teeters LaVerge, is officially announced as now existing in hardcover. Excerpts are read. Stay tuned for Part Two. subgenius.com
NOT A RERUN! -- and all safe for broadcast, at least in terms of language if not ear or mind health. Sheridan contributed another of his collage shows, but some of it made Stang even more deaf than he was before -- so those noisy sections have been replaced by some clips from old ESO Swamp Radio (also from Cleveland) with host Chas Smith, Lonesome Cowboy Dave and Rev. Ivan Stang. http://subgenius.com
When the Church outreach was first being developed under "Bob," there were originally three mortals involved: Ivan Stang, Dr. Philo Drummond, and the late "Dr. X," aka Deacon Lamont Duvoe, aka Monte Dhooge, lead singer and songwriter of his band The Pink Boyz. We recently had cause to unearth Monte's early SubGenius preaching and Pink Boyz recordings, and realized it was high time for a Dr. X tribute. His preaching was used a lot on our old Media Barrage 4 album (which was never released on CD, just on cassette, decades ago) and parts of that are woven in and around the Pink Boyz songs. There are many choice slips of INSANE Dallas Christian radio preachers too. Almost all of this dates from 1978 to 1980. http://subgenius.com LOG OF THIS EPISODE: (Numbered tracks are from Media Barrage #4.) 1 LeMur - HOS_Intro812 00:36 2 The Pink Boys - Put Your Hands on the Radio 02:44 3 Pink Boyz Intro 02:33 4 The Pink Boys - Pink Boy 02:49 5 20-Humanism-GimmePilsSong 00:38 6 21-WotF-Units for Eunuchs 00:35 7 The Pink Boys - APARTMENT COMPLEX 03:08 8 24-WotF-NormalMachine 00:46 9 The Pink Boys - Watching the TV 02:28 10 26-TVCollage-NewFace~ 01:07 11 28-NentalTV-SmelloVision~X 02:16 12 29-Robison Judgement on cities 00:48 13 42-DeaconDuvoe&Stang 10:31 14 43-ThanksBob,Pils&Blood 00:50 15 44-SubG Retreats Mr 00:23 16 45-Girls,SendPictures! 00:49 17 The ink Boyz - Nice_Guys 02:39 18 46-Duvoe&Stang $ 02:30 19 50-PetRock?CoverName 01:35 20 51-DuvoeStang-ForeignMinist 00:39 21 52-UseMeJesus-InsaneHealing 00:55 22 53-StangDuvoe-HelpMinisters 01:00 23 55-Annointing-Oil 00:41 24 56-Duvoe-BobSave America 02:40 25 The Pink Boys - FootballHero 04:01 26 cred Pink Boyz to HoS on Monte 00:13 27 HoS 19X-Day? RADIO SAFE! And it's a rerun, a real oldie. Hour of Slack #535, 1996. It's WHAT WILL HAPPEN ON X-DAY, in excruciating detail. It features what may well be the most forceful (and informative!) rants ever delivered by both Rev. Ivan Stang and Dr. K'taden Legume, sermons recorded in moments when those worthies were totally caught up in the thrall of "Bob" -- divine messengers, as it were, helpless to do anything but preach the hardest truths of SubGenius Orthodox Dobbsian doctrine. Punctuating these heart-staking sermons are some of the most intensive so-called "Media Barrage tapes" from the 1980s, especially segments from St. Byron Werner's historic cassette collage masterpieces "Space Age Bachelor Pad" (the actual origin of that hipster genre catch-phrase) and "Dougs, Drugs and Doctors." Voices heard from the old SubGenius Media Barrage tapes include Dr. Philo Drummond, Hellswami Satellite Weavers (the great SubGenius "ur-illustrator" narrating into a tape deck on a drive through Meteor Crater, Arizona), Former Pastor Buck Naked, Dobbs' bodyguard Dr. G. Gordon Gordon, Pope Michael Flores and even Janor, back in the olden days. We should have been running this episode annually, and would do so henceforth, were not X-Day imminently nigh. http://subgenius.com
This episode is exactly like the last three, in that it has the same elements: ESO Swamp Radio from 2001, Puzzling Evidence from 2012, ancient rare Firesign Theatre, and Captain Beefheart. Saves time. Allowed us to get the Kindle version of our new book EYELASH out. We start with the late Prof. Chas Smith explaining the origins of Lonesome Cowboy Dave. Later there is an all-star Puzzling Evidence show, and more ESO, with call-ins from superstars Rev. Bleepo Abernathy, Michael Peppe, Popess Lilith, Bishop Joey of Church of the Last Laugh, and Dr. Phineas Narco of National Cynical... but not Dr. Hal. Towards the end, Philo Drummond and Ivan Stang revert to their true identities as Arkansas hog farmers. http://subgenius.com
RADIO SAFE VERSION. This episode is another of those perverted group marriages of young, old and in between. From Hour of Slack #88 we hear the young Puzzling Evidence, Paul Mavrides, Dr. Hal, Ivan Stang, Pope Sternodox, St. Byron Werner and Dr. Philo Drummond. We hear those selfsame early apostles as doddering old codgers, in an excerpt from Sandy Boone's fine documentary film. In between, from the future year of 2000, we hear the middle aged Stang, Lonesome Cowboy Dave, and Professor Chas Smith back before the wars and the diseases and deaths, when we were all ever so happy-go-Slacky. There is not much music but what there is, is The Rudy Schwartz Project and Shemekia Copeland. By coincidence, every level of show age includes background music composed by Nino Rota for Fellini's 8 1/2, performed by various artists including Snakefinger and The Potatoes.

"Having listened back to this episode, closely, for the first time in decades, I must say that we must in fact have been TOTALLY AND UTTERLY TRIPPING BALLS THE WHOLE TIME." -- Rev. Ivan Stang, October 2020 Be that as it may, this early episode exploited Dr. G. Gordon Gordon and a great deal of the SubGenius album called Media Barrage 10, an editing tour-de-force thanks to St. Byron Werner, Puzzling Evidence, Hellpope Huey, DEVO, Dr. Philo Drummond, and others. There are two suites by The Swinging Love Corpses near the end that are just jaw-dropping if not jaw-amputating. Remember, there are detailed "lyrics sheets" and logs of show content for each episode on our website in the Radio/HoS area. Just click on a show title for a close look at its innards.
We're going to 23X-Day, right in our own homes. The centerpiece is a face-peeling new X-Day rant by the great preacher Father Joe Mama. Much of this episode also samples audio from the first hour of the first day of the first X-Day held entirely online by teleconferencing. Most of X-Day week this roomful of Zoombies was a free-for-all, but we started with this attempt at a traditional "live" X-Hour of Slack limited to mainly Old Radio Doktors: Dr. Hal, Dr. Philo Drummond, Uncle Dr. Onan Canobite, Rev. Ivan Stang and Pissbaptist John Shirley, with Professor Pontius Pressure engineering and hosting. Rev. Modemac later joined in. This is very edited, because everybody could see each other and were constantly referring to greenscreened background visuals or "Show-and-Tell" display of objects -- frustrating to the blind radio audience later. It's interspersed with classic 1980s SubGenius Media Barrage album clips, LeMurian seasoning, The Psycho Skeletons, Danny Elfman "so-lo," and two Doktor songs by the new Dobbs Youth band, SubG Kids. During the teleconference, the conversation turned with surprising frequency to extremely speculative theories about dinosaurs, including Ghost Dinosaurs, Gas-Bag Dinosaurs, and even Moon Dinosaurs. Secrets of All SubGenius Media
This is the second part of that old recording that's not a rerun, because we never ran it uncut and unmarred. This is as close to the master recording off WCSB Cleveland's cassette deck that we'll get. It was recorded July, 1994, right around X-Day 6. Participants on this ESO Swamp Radio episode were host the late Prof. Chas Smith, Lonesome Cowboy Dave, Princess Wei, and Rev. Ivan Stang. Speaking of X-Day, we'll be doing a virtual meet-up this week until the Saucers come and take us away. The details will be on subgenius.com if you want to join us on Zoom, starting July 5. We will attempt to record Hours of Slack each afternoon, via teleconference! Starwood festival is also being done that way. 23X-Day Info

This is not exactly a rerun, but rather a long lost classic, recently unearthed. We found the master recording of an ESO Swamp Radio and Brain Rot Theater show that Stang sat in on while visiting WCSB in Cleveland in July of 19 and 94. We were all young and in our prime, with the FIRE in the BELLY, and it really shows. Bits have been used before on ancient Hours of Slack, but this recording stands alone just fine, possibly much better, and it's a superior reproduction of the original master recording. It was in fact two hours long and we'll probably run the second hour next week. Participants include host Prof. Chas Smith (R.I.P.), Lonesome Cowboy Dave, Princess Wei 'R." D'oh!, Ivan Stang, and several callers including the late Dr. Dark. http://subgenius.com

Boss Stang A Short Story by Little Philo Drummond Ivan Stang had always hated Dobbstown's pobuckery Main Kitchen with its dangerous, deadly, bloody Knife Cellar. But it was a place where he felt threatened yet relaxed. He was a bossy, incredulous, hot buttered rum martini drinker with giant stinky armpits and midgety butt cheeks. His friends saw him as a salty, cantankerous old skull farmer. Once, he had even made a cup of tea for the Giant Nutsack. That's the kindly sort of man he was. Ivan walked over to the window and reflected on his dark and dank surroundings. The rain hammered like rabid thinking polecats. Then he saw something in the distance, or rather someone. It was the figure of Dr. Hal Owwll. Dr. Hal was a snooty animal with scrawny stinky armpits and micro-cephalic but lumpy butt cheeks. Ivan gulped. He was not prepared for deadly Dr. Hal. As Ivan stepped outside and Dr. Hal came closer, he could see the annoying glint in his eye. Dr. Hal glared with all the wrath of 5,944 peculiarly angry chupacabras. He muttered under his breath, in hushed tones yet incredibly audible, "I still want a sacred t-shirt." Ivan looked back, even more blissful but still fingering the eazor-sharp sword while eyeballing Dr. Hal's ample neck. "Dr. Hal, please take the sourdough out of the fridge," he replied. They looked at each other with contemplative feelings, like two gigantic, grieving gerbils fropping at a very rude Annual Work Review, which had rockabilly music playing in the background and two thoughtful broom-toting uncles sweeping to the beat. Ivan regarded Dr. Hal's scrawny stinky armpits and micro-cephalic butt cheeks. "I feel the same way!" revealed Ivan with a delighted grin. Shyly, Dr. Hal looked grumpy, his emotions blushing red like a just mis-used razor sharp pocketknife. Then Dr. Hal came inside for a nice drink of hot buttered rum martini. THE END Praise for Boss Stang "I feel like I know Ivan Stang. In a way, it feels as though I've always known him."- The Daily Tale "About as enjoyable as being hailed on whilst taking in washing that has been targeted by seagulls with the drizzling shits."- Enid Kibbler "Saying the rain hammered like rabid thinking polecats is just the kind of literary device that makes this brilliant."- Hit the Spoof "I could do better."- Zob Gloop --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/philo-drummond/message
This is an hour of nothing but Rev. Ivan Stang alternately hollering and muttering to the live audience at the 39th Starwood Festival in July 2019. (Stang has ranted at the last 29 Starwoods, almost always on Saturday afternoon at the main stage.) We beg your forgiveness but we have to crank these things out or else resort to reruns. Topics include: Stang's health (he's old). When X-Day Comes. A SubGenius dialog about love, hate, and stinky socks from The Handsome and Mature Gentlemen's Club, a secret society. News of the Church -- the movie, and NEIGHBORWORLD. Stang on his actual job, President Cartman's fan club and Self-Validating Philosophies, what happens when all world electronics fry in a solar storm, and the unprecedented polarization between urban and rural Americans. Highlight: Stang does a dramatic reading of an amazing fire-in-the-belly rant written by Rev. Baby Bear, originally meant to be delivered by her at an aborted Starwood-related event. Stang addresses the way some SubGenius's actual minor superpowers are termed "disabilities" by the Conspiracy, and there is a Q&A at the end about underwear. EVERYTHING ABOUT SUBGENIUS RADIO

RADIO-SAFE VERSION! Rev. Ivan Stang talks relatively straight for a change, and reads from The Bobliographon at some length. Works by three NEW Hour of Slack contributors make up the rest. There's a strange song by David Morrison (mixed by The Rudy Schwartz Project), two strange musical sampling collages by "Sheridan" of Cleveland, and two collage mixes by Dr. Filius O. Fooey. A little more of the 22X-Day show from last week also carries over. This episode has more real-life Church and Stang Ranch news than most. The entire creepy nature of all human POLITICS is also confronted head-on in the Bobliographon readings.

22X-Day "2019," July 6 at Wisteria with Dr. Hal, Rev. Ivan Stang, Princess Wei 'R.' D'oh!, and Rev. Angry Larry. RADIO SAFE. Inexplicable horror intro- Let's walk down this lane... going straight to another show for you. The faithful have been judged. Good! Saturday schedule. Recuperating; Bobtism at 2 pm in pond. Old Sequaw. The Wall of Ticks. Costume or Not Ball. Bulldada Auction of Exploding Death-Robot. "Bob" Burning late tonight. It still COULD be X-Day -- any second! - as we say in our July 6 disappointment. California earthquakes and Hal's dinosaur collection. One may never prepare adequately. The impossible evacuation of huge cities. There's no escape. The rescue pilots will mock you in the rising river. You can't have safety. There go the saucers flying away empty-handed. What if everybody outside of Wisteria got Ruptured? Thanks Oboba. Thanks Philo. Philo has left the camp. Rev. Sosodada has returned to the folds. Many folds at the Bobtism. Saints? The Taints of the Church. Taint Paul, Taint Philo, Taint Peter. Philo tain't here. Has to mow his graveyard of humans. Stang has a graveyard only of shellfish. And the fossil devil skeleton, alien skeleton, robot skeleton. Devil skull is like bug mandible. Demonsaurus Rex. Fossil Cretaceous devil has a heart bone and a bacula. Pappy's swizzle sticks made of dick bones of walrus, bear, raccoon. The Walrus Pizzle Murder. Stang's Cabinet of Wonders at the impregnable fortress -- though "Bob" impregnated the actual fortress. That time "Bob" raped Pater Nostrils car while they were inside. "Bob's" bastard auto children. Breaks your muffler. Sopping! Gypsy dance music from "House of Frankenstein" and plot summary. The hunchback girl's crush on Larry Talbot, who is always whining and fretting. Some SubGeniuses THINK they can pass as human or even think they're human. Stockholm syndrome. THE THING couldn't be a mummy. The papier mache Indian mummy and baby mummy. Stang knows where the one switch is to shut off every light in Carlsbad Caverns. Smuggle in glow-in-the dark Indian Ghost Spirit outfits, plunge the cave into drkness, then we rise up and moan. And hope there's not a good guy with a gun. Panicking people impling selves on stalactites. The kids who hid in the cave. Stang's been to Carlsbad Caverns 9 times and will preserve it on his escape vessel IN the Grand Canyon. SubGs not pure enough for Xists... minds filled with desires and coffee... Need new voice! Angry Larry? Hal muttering... Rev. Angry Larry joins in. Philo's mechanical heart. Bobtism ad. Snore-fest X-Day. Description of the clown show with weinermobile jumping over 3 flaming cars. Weinermobiles of America. Oscar Meyer Hotdogs vs. Nathan's. Need crowd for Bulldada Auction - the clowns want the big penis. Just the beat-up head. It had been beat on mostly by dames. The violent Women's Revolts of the old SubG cons. The penis-head mask looks like a Toho character vs. Big Man Japan. DICK-HEAD. The mushroom man - "I'm President Trump's crotch." Mario Cart stumpy-dick. The problem of unusual looking penii such as Bill Clinton, Michael Jackson. "is your pecker spotted like your hands?" Speckled pecker disease. Ray gun from the late President's estate. That car's full of clowns! Extraterrestrial or Japanese. Putting batteries in new robot toy. Acid and corrosion in the robots. You may already be a weiner. LSD is the bomb" PSA. Rev. Angry Larry is gonna "do" the raygun. The kind of disintegrating gun that is slowly disintegrating in the basement. Now Stang misses Philo irritating him. Larry can be just as annoying if we want. Stang is not the way he used to be. Still hasn't hung Dobbhead or set up projector. We got the big Eyeball up there. The mystery of the ray gun batteries. Something inside the old toy is pulling back on the old corroded batteries. Stang's hat was found, after being used as a mic stand. ((CUT hat stuff)) ASBESTOS UNDERWEAR - Media Barrage bits - Chas song - All Bulldada Auction items are death traps. WEI COMES! Her helm and space crown. Raygun is broken plus sound effects. Auctioning Bobble-Body Zombie. After the Bobtism. Plenty of time since aliens didn't come - time to kill, murder and create. "We're gonna need a bigger clock-killing dagger." The Behemoth. We still have to do Starwood. Sentenced to another week of Slack, darn it! Normal ordinary tedious antislack would be great. Enough of this inebriating and orgy-ing. ((REMOVED: While we were gone Claudia pried boards off fence and escaped. So it was X-Day for Claudia. Bit of BUDDY lyrics. Stang looks for lyric sheets while Wei stalls. OCD -- not disorders, super-powers. Long waiting. Finds a roach. Arguing about the music. Wei and Stang sing BUDDY -- horribly.)) Rev. Watt deFalk's book THE BLASPHEMERA - three auction items so far that aren't deadly boobie-traps. They'll only blind you metaphorically. Claudia escaped -- Buddy slept through it. "I'm not really a rebel, I'm just an IDIOT." -- Faux "It's okay if we're only offending dumbasses" -- "Bob" Not just okay but our Bob-given right and duty! If they're offended, that proves they're dumbasses! It's an intelligence test. Below a SubGenius. CAN mean "beyond SubGenius." Can't be in Mensa and CoSG at same time -- but we have a cure for geniusness - two cures: ball peen hammer, and drugs. Plain liquor will do it. Geniuses don't need livers! SubGs don't need brains but do eat brains. Stang can't handle the allergen any more. Xists have Ruptured bits and pieces: his energy, his memory -- now a wisp, a shadow, a SHARD of a man. Every single cell suffering the Pain of A Hundred Billion Pains... times the number of cells. Even my bowel bugs have indigestion and insomnia. Hurry up, X-Day. The Fountain of Youth wasn't any of those pils. That which does not kill me makes me weaker. All old people talk about: health problems. Learned a lot more about criminal law and justice system than I wanted to. You learn the most interesting things, like felons can't be insured. Cath's THINGS I DON'T WANT TO SEE, HEAR, AND SMELL ANYMORE. Samples of Anti-C-! the RubGenius musings. Things she doesn't want to hear. Things she doesn't want to see on a daily basis. (Ass cracks, guards, razor wire, and women.) Things she doesn't want to smell any more. Her roomie wants a boyfriend. She has Jesus, what else could she need? Cath's observations on death -- she's been dead. Like Polly in Peaky Blinders. She's like the Professor on Gilligan's Island. Remembers lyrics. They were amazed to learn where Israel is and why Robin Hood doesn't just get a gun. They did not know that America was not always English speaking white people. Has to explain Star Wars to them constantly. She was able to "pass" among regular Pinks, but not here. There's racial gangs and she hangs out with the Mexicans. 12-hour trips to doctor on a hot crowded bus. They remind you every step of the way that you are a BUG. Gets humiliating body search every time we visit. Time to go to the Bobtism! SUBGENIUS FACE MASKS!
Whilst investigating the death of a local supervisor, a courageous muleskinner named Philo Drummond uncovers a legend about a supernaturally-cursed, weathered gun circulating throughout Antarctica. As soon as anyone uses the gun, he or she has exactly 199 days left to live. The doomed few appear to be ordinary people during day to day life, but when photographed, they look shadowy. A marked person feels like a blasted dogfish to touch. Philo gets hold of the gun, refusing to believe the superstition. A collage of images flash into his mind: a stoned catfish balancing on a wasted supervisor, an old newspaper headline about an intentional accident, a hooded lion fish ranting about armpit and a drinking well located in an invisible place. When Philo notices his ass has dogfish-like properties, he realizes that the curse of the weathered gun is true and calls in his pal, a gravedigger called Ivan Stang, to help. Ivan examines the gun and willingly submits himself to the curse. He finds that the same visions flash before his eyes. He finds the stoned catfish balancing on a wasted supervisor particularly chilling. He joins the queue for a supernatural death. Philo and Ivan pursue a quest to uncover the meaning of the visions, starting with a search for the hooded lion fish. Will they be able to stop the curse before their time is up? --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/philo-drummond/message
Rev. Susie the Floozie did it! It's this week's "Bob's" Slack Time Funhouse, and we get to premiere it! The opening segments are brand new; the rest is a classic Susie old-school super-collage media barrage on the subjects of Easter and deadly diseases, slightly seasoned up with modern clips. There is some possibly fanciful ranting about Rev. Ivan Stang's sex life near the end, but most of it is the WALL OF SPLICES for which The Flooze is famous. This is the second weekly show episode we've released this week, which puts us AHEAD! ... and more timely than usual. http://subgenius.com
This MIGHT be the greatest Hour of Slack episode of all time -- and it was a lost episode until this week! It's our sixty-ninth episode, from late 1986, and it was a kind of a "best of" collection of some of the best stuff that many SubGeniuses recorded up until then. Includes songs, rants, and collages by Slackmaster Cleve, Byron Werner, Rev. Bleepo Abernathy, Puzzling Evidence, Dr. Hal, Rev. Ivan Stang, Doug #3, Gary G'Broagfran, Sister Krys (her sermon on "The 'Feminist' Conspiracy!"), The Firesign Theater, Ken Nordine, Oingo Boingo, G. Gordon Gordon, and the great Doktorz 4 "Bob"! Thanks to Rev. Rasfeld for recording this off the air when it first aired in Dallas, and somehow keeping the recording for 34 years!
Soothing and jarring music from many Doktors bracket two new rants (by Rev. Absent (read by Stang) and Rev. Watt deFalk, and a half hour of onstage radio Slack from 22X-Day Drill featuring Dr. Hal, Rev. Angry Larry and Rev. Ivan Stang... on July 5, after another disappointing failure of the world to end. The Spouters activate a toy robot that turned out to be dangerous, sing the praises of Rev. Susie the Floozie, Creationism vs. Destructionism, and the slogans and aphorisms of "Bob" that can put you in the hospital. Also addressed are Stang's allergies to things like ghosts and aliens, and Rev, Angry Larry's anger. http://subgenius.com
It was July 4 at 22X-Day Drill, and by the fourth hour of live blabbershow, Dr. Drummond and even Dr. Hal had pooped out -- but Rev. Ivan Stang and Princess Wei had returned, re-energized. This thus sounds very much like a Stang Ranch or Cleveland show with Dave calling in, except that instead of Dave on the phone we had on stage our erstwhile Cleveland Heights neighbor, IDRMRSR, aka Mister Sister, one of the few official Church conservatives. He had been tippling a bit. (We managed to slide a little Lonesome Cowboy in the mix too.) Also represented are Rev. Watt deFalk, and music by Rev. Angry Larry with mystery accompanist X recorded live at 22X-Day Drill -- complete with loud boorish drunks talking over it. Also: The Rudy Schwartz Project; The Skeletons (Psycho); and Dewey Cox (two songs from "Walk Hard"). LeMur's cutting-up spices everything, and Mr. F. LeMur is actually discussed as a person by the only one of us who has actually met him!
This episode's title is also the name of the Rudy Schwartz Project instrumental near the beginning, after the LeMur collages. (All collages in this episode are by Mr. F. LeMur.) We get music new and old, respectively, by The Slot Rods and Dr. Onan Canobite, plus a Lonesome Cowboy Dave classic, "The President's on the Phone," from three Presidents ago. The talk parts were mostly recorded on July 4th of the so-called 2019, on location at the cult compound where the X-Day Drill was held. Dr. Hal, Dr. Philo Drummond, and Rev. Ivan Stang, presiding, along with Rev. Lord Angry Larry. A couple of Brother Russell's prank calls to Christian stations (as "Melba") are referenced and included. There is much detailed discussion of the greatest of the worst movies, as well as of Doc Savage and his son Dork. HOUR OF SLACK archives/logs/donations/other SubGenius Radio
Interspersed with Lemurian collages, two Onan Canobite rants read by Stang, and music by The Rudy Schwartz Project, The Slot Rods, Rev. Watt de Falk and The Psycho Skeletons, most of this is a lively conversation between Dr. Hal, Dr. Philo Drummond, Lord Angry Larry, and Rev. Ivan Stang from the second hour of the July 4, "2019" show at 22X-Day, recorded live in front of an audience. A SMALL audience, but hey. It's still live and lively. There is much discussion of Bible movies versus Bible books, especially the story of Noah's Ark. Later, Stang unfortunately attempts to preview the pop rock pot rot dog X-Day opera he and Wei have written, "BUDDY." (With apologies to Pete Townsend.) HOUR OF SLACK archives, logs
This is one of those mash-ups of three very different live SubGenius shows and a bunch of weird music and nicely tortured noises. There's also an actual new 10-minute Written Stang Rant, "Sorry, Non-Boomer" (albeit only partially written by Stang), which reveals "Bob's" revised SubGenius slogans for older SubGeniuses. We premiere two GREAT new songs from The Rudy Schwartz Project, including the brainworm "Dead Nazi by the Side of the Road" as well as a new Slot Rods/Angry Larry surfpunk thrashstramental. It's the Battle of the Buzz with Lonesome Cowboy Dave calling in and making his own reality, intercut with a 22X-Day session with the Puzzling Evidence Show stalwarts, Dr. Hal and Philo Drummond (minus Puzzling Evidence himself). We also hear a strange stretch with Philo and Hal with the mysterious SubGenius called "X." Collage work by Lemur and RastaBilly Bob round out the rough edges, or perhaps roughen up the smooth edges. The performance name "M.C. Squaredance" is copyright 2019 Ivan Stang. Patent pending. See the Hour of Slack page on SubSITE for list of broadcast stations in the U.S. and Canada: http://subgenius.com/ts/hos.html Archive of hundreds of Hours of Slack from the 1990s, in MP3, thanks to St. David Bachner: http://db8.ca/radioarchive/hos
A very old-school fundie doctrinal episode, since it's Dr. Philo Drummond, Dr. Hal, Rev. Ivan Stang and Rev. Angry Larry -- all ancient and revered Hierarchites, spouting sacredly at 22X-Day Drill on July 4th, in the first hour of the first show... and, there's a brand new Rudy Schwartz Project album out! Music includes three challenging songs from that, some Slot Rods alien surf punk thrash e-z listening, Jimmy Durante, Skeletons of the Psycho variety, and LeMurian antimusic. Topics attacked: pils; the ban on cotton; the visor that reveals dinosaur ghosts; fat cocks and no chicks; idiot Facebook Bobbies who can't spell "Bob"; Tube Bar Call imitations; toe jam used as butt paste; Dr. Hal jumped off a cliff for a dollar; the supervillain Irritating Grandpa, other pressing topical issues. Hour of Slack Web Archive and Logs Page
Part Two of of an Hour of Slack/Radio Synaesthesia combo from August 25, "2019." Host Dr. Sinister, Lonesome Cowboy Dave, Rev. Ivan Stang and Princess Wei 'R.' Doe talk and talk and talk with various callers. Because it's the penultimate WCSB show for Hour of Slack, there is some reminiscing of vast historical significance, and much detailed revelations about "Bob" Dobbs and his Word. Order Lonesome Cowboy Dave's novel NEIGHBORWORLD and/or THE BOOK OF THE SUBGENIUS (signed): http://www.subgenius.com/scatalog/books.htm
Recorded June 30 at WCSB-Cleveland, just before leaving town for 22X-Day (now known as the 24th X-Day Drill), with Dr. Hal joining Ivan Stang and Princess Wei in the studio and Lonesome Cowboy Dave by phone. The show starts with ten minutes of an amazing Aliens/UFOs-themed collage made by Rev. Susie the Floozie in years past, then the on-air discussions veers through the X-Day prophecy of "Bob" Dobbs, the glories of Dave, the "Bob" masks from SIKRIK.COM, the SubGenius documentary's latest foreign film festival showings, False Christians, Jim Naborsworld and Opie's movies, Leprechauns, Stang's Paradox ("I Must Yet I Cannot"), Ro-Man quotes by Hal, Romany/Gypsy/Travelers, the market in human fat, WHY NOT GOATS?, the Church of Satan's goat-devil statue, The "Bob" Movie Posters, the Photo-"Bob" controversy, Rocknar the Cannon-Fodder Volunteer and his Happy Hooker escapade, bone spurs, Pope Perro vs. Pope Black, the discovery that Ol' Sequaw is in fact an INFANT, the earthquakes in Cleveland, and the end of the show… for now, as it continues for two more hours that night (to be heard next week(s)).
