They kick things off by breaking down the big news of the week: Erik Ten Hag is the new Bayer Leverkusen head coach. The duo then turn to two other managerial changes, as Werder Bremen parted ways with Ole Werner and Augsburg sacked Jess Thorup in favour of local lad Sandro Wagner. Will both clubs finally climb out of mid-table with smart managerial appointments or could these risky moves push them back towards relegation? They then wrap up the show by discuss new reports linking Liverpool forward Cody Gakpo to Bayern Munich and break down whether the Dutch talent would be a smart signing by the Bundesliga champions or little more than a runners-up medal in the chase for Florian Wirtz. Arsenal clawed back from two goals down to draw 2-2 with champions Liverpool at Anfield. This was about Arsenal's resilience, but their sluggish first half and defensive frailties nearly cost them dearly.Despite a disjointed start-deflated after their Champions League exit-Arsenal showed character after halftime. Martinelli's header sparked hope, and Merino's rebound finish leveled the score. Yet, defensive lapses and Merino's late red card left Arsenal hanging on, with Odegaard almost snatching a winner in stoppage time.Liverpool's early dominance and Gakpo's opener exposed Arsenal's back line, and Diaz's quick follow-up left the Gunners reeling. But Arsenal's fightback, even with ten men, halted Liverpool's celebrations and extended their unbeaten away run, though doubts linger over their top-five finish hopes. While Martinelli's sharpness and Merino's impact offered positives, Arsenal's inconsistency in big moments persists. Liverpool, meanwhile, saw a party atmosphere soured by a late disallowed goal. Now an even bigger challenge is upon as we could potentially lose 3 players in addition - Merino suspension and Trossard and Rice injury doubts. Let's say a prayer for this team and hope for the best. Hoping for some more good news…until then —Up The Arsenal!
Liverpool surrendered a two-goal lead as they were held to a 2-2 draw by Arsenal at Anfield on Sunday. First-half goals from Cody Gakpo and Luis Diaz had the home support in party mode again as they celebrated being Premier League champions against a team who had been their nearest rivals for the crown. However, the Gunners fought back impressively in the second period, while Trent Alexander-Arnold's introduction as a substitute also served to change the mood. Here, Reds reporter David Lynch reflects on the performance, and discusses the Alexander-Arnold controversy that is threatening to sour the run-in. He also heaps praise on Conor Bradley for his performance at right-back and goalscorers Diaz and Gakpo. Check out this review of the game and make sure to leave your thoughts in the comment section. A less than perfect buildup week for Liverpool after Champions-league loss and a buoyant Bruno Guimaraes describes the fixture as Newcastle's “World Cup Final.”Next, Natalie Gedra sits down with Jacob Murphy and Alexander Isak, who talk about their chemistry, what it means to play in a final, and their favourite goal scored together.Elsewhere, Juliette Ferrington chats with Cody Gakpo about recovering from the intensity of the midweek Champions League clash with PSG and Liverpool's resilience this season. And Keith Downie meets ex-Newcastle player Rob Lee on Wembley Way, who reminisces scoring against Chelsea at Wembley, and is confident his old team can lift a trophy for the first time in seventy years. We also talk of Arsenal's opportunity to work away at the deficit against Liverpool, and the importance of building momentum ahead of the Champions League tie against Real Madrid.

Welcome dear listener to the latest episode. I'm Paul and I am joined by Daz. The Reds beat City last weekend, and in similar fashion outplayed Newcastle this midweek. Top of the Premier League by 13 from Arsenal (game in hand), 19 from Forest, and 20 from City and 21 from Chelsea. We'll review the City and Newcastle games and then look ahead to the PSG round of 16 away leg and maybe Southampton at home. Part One - finally we win a league game at the Etihad Was this a case of them revisiting the need for control or Man City forced us into a low block? Or was this a Rafa tribute moment? Salah, Dominik, Virgil, Ibou - and lots of other great performances. On City: Doku's unbelievable performance… oh wait A few weeks ago, Sean asked if Rico Lewis ever played right back for them, only when they lose was my reply - I am taking credit for thatPart Two - Newcastle at home xG 1.7 (Gakpo .52) to 0.23 ‘Turn on the pan of league winning oil at a low temperature' Ben Jonno, so we can still keep enjoying it. Control is back, just in time for the Champions League round of 16 We took the referee out of the equation today - Salah penalty?? Dominic Szobozlai, Gravenberch, Mac Allister. Salah's 17th assist.Part Three - upcoming games and elsewhere: Arsenal's enablement of our title challenge: West Ham fans to Rice - ‘You should have signed for a big club' PSG - why bother trying to get first in the Champions League table? We are not favorites in this tie!! Salah - when asked about whether he is getting better, his answer is the equivalent of, well some people prefer Sgt. Pepper others says it's Abbey Road….. Rebecca Lowe still doesn't have him in the EPL all time XI…. - recency bias.. What about unconscious bias? We will be back next week with a review of PSG away (and maybe Southampton at home). Hello Rank Squad! It's time for Champions League Takeaway, your late night delivery following the action - after the first ever 'final matchday' of the new League Stage, which saw every single game taking place at the same time. We start with a look at Manchester City's Great Escape - coming back from 1-0 down (and surefire elimination) to win 3-1 against Club Brugge, and sneak into the Playoff round in incredibly dramatic fashion at the Etihad. Then we work our way through all the other games, including an end-to-end encounter as Aston Villa beat Celtic 4-2, PSG's blistering 4-1 demolition of Stuttgart, and a 2-2 thriller between Barcelona and Atalanta that might well have been the game of the night. In Part Two, there's a roundup of all the rest of the action - Ethan Nwaneri's Saka impression as Arsenal saw off Girona, PSV stunning a heavily-rotated Liverpool in Eindhoven, routine wins for Bayern and Real Madrid, Dinamo Zagreb's brave win over 10-man Milan that wasn't quite enough, and Sporting's squeaky point that saw them progress, as well as big wins for Inter, Benfica, Leverkusen, Lille, and Atletico. It's Ranks! As Liverpool and Everton's double gameweek gets ever closer, we really drill into the question of who our third Liverpool asset should be—and note the use of the word “asset” instead of “player,” because that asset, other than Díaz, Gakpo, or Konaté, could very well be Arne Slot! As for Everton? Jacob brings up the point that if the “extra” Liverpool game didn't exist, we wouldn't be talking about Everton assets at all—and “extra” is in quotes because, well, is there really that much value added when the game is against Liverpool? This leads us to consider the more macro question: What is a game in hand, anyway? How would our perception change if Everton's “original” fixture were against Liverpool and their “extra” fixture were against Leicester?

Welcome dear listener to the latest episode. I'm Paul and I am joined by Daz. The Reds beat Leicester 3-1 last Thursday and played another tough one against West Ham on Sunday - just the 5 goals this time. We are at the top of the Premier League with a game in hand - 14 points clear of City, 9 from Arsenal (same games) and 10 from Chelsea. We'll review those games and then talk about the upcoming Premier League game against Man United plus a look around the league. Part One - Leicester City at home - xG 1.91 vs 0.34 Conceding early again, but it felt different. Lot of pressure, didn't necessarily count in xG ‘Abject' said James Pearce in the first half. Really… Maybe too many crosses, maybe a little too rushed. Second half - so much movement, Jones! 17 fouls against us to 5! With 68% possession. Szobo yellow card. Darren Bond doing a solid Coote/Oliver/Tierney impression. The VAR stuff was weird CSI in its intensity. Gakpo 2nd, Nunes doesn't touch the ball. Cody Gakpo and Mo's goals - woof! Part two - West Ham away - xG 3.09 to 0.32. 7 shots from West Ham, Sean Rogers tells us that title winning teams concede less than 10 on average. Difficult fixture for us this one - well at least on paper. Surprised the ground was so full at the end - assume they expected this. Started great, but West Ham were easy to play through. Areola started like Yashin and eventually reverted to the mean Luis Diaz finish, Joe Gomez injury, Kudus at 1-0, Then some Mo magic. Mac Allister with the most pressures (regain led to Mo's goal). Second half, unusually low key - Trent. Mo's 10 chances, the Jota goal…. Word on Antony Taylor - no cards, 10 fouls against us, and 7 against them. Part three - elsewhere and look ahead Man United on the horizon… they were actually abject in the first half against Newcastle, More on Mo Salah - Passed Beckham and Henry to be 10th for the all time EPL assists. One behind Thierry Henry for goals - 8th, could get to 4th by the end of the season. 8 games with a goal and an assist - most ever in the Premier League and he's got 20 games to go. NBC's Rebecca Lowe insistent that Mo is nowhere near the best player in the Premier League era - WTF But is he as good as Cole Palmer? Contracts - Bascombe, La Marca, AS We will be back January 13th ish with a review of United at home and the various cup games, looking ahead to 2 potentially season defining away games at Forest and Brentford. The Reds ran riot at West Ham to increase their lead at the top of the table to eight points. Goals from Diaz, Gakpo, Salah, Alexander-Arnold and Jota secured the most comfortable win of the season so far. Liverpool moved seven points clear at the top of the Premier League as they came from behind to beat Leicester 3-1 at Anfield. The Reds fell behind after just six minutes as Jordan Ayew netted, but turned things around thanks to goals from Cody Gakpo, Curtis Jones and Mohamed Salah. And reporter David Lynch believes that owed much to another clever tweak to the attacking approach from Arne Slot at half-time. In this post-match review from Anfield, he praises the Dutchman, while Gakpo, Salah and Alexis Mac Allister are also singled out. Welcome dear listener to the latest episode. Look out for the bonus episode coming soon previewing our upcoming games. I'm Paul and I am joined by Sean and Daz. The Reds drew 2-2 with Fulham last weekend, beat Southampton 2-1 last Wednesday in the Carabao Cup and played a tough one against Spurs today - well OK, a game we dominated. We are at the top of the Premier League with a game in hand - 12 points clear of City, 6 from Arsenal and 4 from Chelsea. We'll review those games and then talk about the upcoming Premier League games against Leicester, West Ham and Man United. Part One - Reds drew at home Fulham - xG 2.13 versus 1.22 Losing Andy Robertson after 17 minutes was tough The team looked like an 11 for the most part The challenge on Gomez was huge. 2-1 up with 20 to go would have been great. Szobo and Ryan were magnificent. And Oh his name is Diogo!! Part Two - a word on Southampton (xG 0.7 to 1.7) and then the Spurs game: Southampton: Actually a good performance by a much pared down squad - Nyoni, Morton, Endo, Elliott. Some decent performances in there. Good goals by Darwin and Harvey. Lots of CSI shit about the challenge by Quansah on Fernandes (cf with national reporting of the foul on Gomez in the Fulham game). Spurs (xG 4.60 vs 1.25) Lots of bad memories at this stadium. Even when we won, Bobby got poked in the eye Apart from the vertigo suffering Madison's goal, that first half was just about perfect Diaz, Gakpo, Salah combination That midfield - probably helped by the break that we had and they didn't Salah - 2 behind Henry, 5 behind Lampard in EPL goals. Just passed Billy Liddell, now 4th on the all time Liverpool list. Joint 10th on the EPL list of assists, about to pass David Beckham. Concern about conceding 2 late goals? We will be back in 2 weeks with a review of those four or five games, and maybe some previews. Thanks to Daz and Sean for joining me, Paul. And most of all, thank you dear listener for joining us. Pajak is here with today's news. What a win in the San Siro to come from behind to get our Champions League campaign off to a winning start. Gakpo was one of the key men and he's given Slot a bit of a headache over who to start from the left in the coming weeks. Elsewhere Caught Offside are reporting that Liverpool and Arsenal are tracking Girona's Viktor Tsyhankov as a potential Salah replacement (not sure on that one tbh) and TeamTalk say we're after Omar Mamoush (but then they say a lot of things that don't come to pass).
