How essential is Cole Palmer and would you wildcard with or without Erling Haaland?
On this episode of The Transfer Flow, Patrick and Ted break down a chaotic, high-quality clash at Anfield as Manchester City beat Liverpool in a game that felt like a season's worth of drama packed into 90 minutes. We dig into what City got right, why Liverpool struggled to solve the press, and how a single moment of brilliance nearly changed the story again. From there, we zoom out to the title race and ask whether City are really back, what Arsenal should be focusing on down the stretch, and why controlling games in the Premier League feels harder than ever right now. Along the way, we talk Erling Haaland's underrated all-around impact, elite goalkeeping across the league, and why nobody ever looks comfortable anymore. In the second half, we get into Newcastle's worrying drop-off, Eddie Howe's growing list of problems, and how squad depth (or the lack of it) is shaping seasons at both ends of the table. We also look at the relegation battle, West Ham's faint hopes of a late escape, and why Forest fans should still be nervous. We wrap things up with listener questions, including a deep dive into “hot hand” theory in football, sweet spots for shooting, and what analytics can (and can't) tell us about form, finishing streaks, and player development. It was a weekend of two halves - Chelsea, Spurs and Fulham all came back from two goals down at half time...only Fulham didn't hang on. As Man City wobbled they looked to have lost their swagger - Gregor Robertson thinks it is clear why. Chelsea came back to win, but why did they make so many changes in the first place? There was plenty of moaning about VAR but if it was taken away would fans be accepting or would the referee abuse just get worse? Alyson Rudd thinks Alexander Isak could be a waste of money, as Wirtz and Ekitike shine, can they really play all three?Lastly who is the Premier League's most versatile player?Tom Clarke is joined by Alyson Rudd, Gregor Robertson and Pete Rutzler Hosted on Acast. On today's episode of The Transfer Flow, Patrick and Ted run through transfer deadline chaos and a genuinely weird Premier League weekend. We start with the biggest rumours flying around late in the window, including Curtis Jones to Inter (and why stats people have always loved him), Ademola Lookman's move to Atlético, Jean-Philippe Mateta's failed medical, and the increasingly strange career arc of Jhon Durán. From there, we dig into Spurs' comeback draw against Manchester City and why Pep's side still look incapable of controlling games for 90 minutes. We also talk Liverpool's recent surge, whether Florian Wirtz and Xavi Simons have finally cracked the Premier League learning curve, and why City's second-half numbers should worry everyone. We wrap up with Chelsea's worrying trendlines under Liam Rosenior, how much beating Napoli matters for him, and what it would take for Chelsea ownership to make a change. The Reds overcame an uninspiring opening half an hour that saw them fall behind to bounce back emphatically with a 4-1 win over Newcastle in which once again the flourishing partnership of Florian Wirtz and Hugo Ekitike came to the fore. Ekitike scored twice and Wirtz added a third before an emotional Ibou Konate honoured his late father with a goal at the Kop end. TLW Editor Dave Usher and Paul Natton look back on an enjoyable night at Anfield and look ahead to what will hopefully be another against City next week.
After saying last week that we had no forwards to choose from - Joao Pedro, Dom Solanke and Hugo Ekitike took that personally - all hauling for their owners! And with Chelsea's fixtures still looking good for the foreseeable future, can we trust their defence in the same way we can trust their attack? And despite an assist, it's now 1 goal in 7 for Erling Haaland - should we actually start thinking about selling him??Fresh from the Spurs game, get Sam's reaction to that crazy game of two halves in North London tonight - what on earth did Frank say at half time??!Elsewhere, Arsenal make a statement win away at Leeds, Kroupi Jnr comes in for his owners against Wolves and Verbruggen owners lose their clean sheet points at the death at home to Everton.A massive THANK YOU for all your support watching, liking and sharing our videos!__________________________

Here are my First Transfer Plans for FPL GW24!
Back-to-back wins now for Michael Carrick, as he continues his sensational start to life as Man United manager - with absolutely ROCKET goals from Dorgu and Cunha. Routine wins for Villa, Chelsea and City meant it was Liverpool that fall down the league in the race for Champions League places - and with Ekitike in his team, what now for Lee's FPL forward line? Who do we actually want? It's slim pickings! Speaking of which, Haaland and Foden start on the bench for City, causing chaos at the GW23 deadline, leaving new boy Antoine Semenyo to grab the points. Both Forest and West Ham shows green shoots of improvement and Harry Wilson bags another banger to win it for Fulham against Brighton. Elsewhere, Frank comes under more pressure for Spurs and Villa grabs win at St. James' Park.A massive THANK YOU for all your support watching, liking and sharing our videos!__________________________

How bad have Sesko and Gyokeres been? And what do we make of the £100m of forwards Chelsea added? Then we open up the Burn Book, discussing nursery, the enshittification of all technology, and Doing Things. Thanks for being here, and consider signing up to our Patreon for extra episodes every fortnight!
