What an opening weekend of college lacrosse. We saw #13 Denver take down #5 Johns Hopkins in overtime with JJ Sillstrop going crazy and scoring the games final 4 goals, including the OT winner. We saw unranked Colgate take down #4 Penn State on the road, scoring the game winner with 4 seconds left in regulation. We saw Syracuse and Duke each roll their non-conference foes. We saw Loyola beat up on a Georgetown team that is trying out all sorts of new starters. Maryland needed 2OT's to take down Richmond on the road. Rutgers eeked out a 2-goal win over Lehigh. Ohio State was losing to Utah for most of the game before rebounding and picking up the win. We'll talk about all of these games and more in this seasons first college lacrosse weekend roundup. In our first week of college lacrosse action, Johns Hopkins taking on Denver would appear to be the big matchup of the weekend. However, I think that Ohio State is going to get a very solid test taking on Utah at home. Penn State, Maryland, Syracuse and Duke are both playing games they should handily win.
