Bobby Burton and Gerry Hamilton deliver the latest on All-American left tackle Trevor Goosby after he suffered a non-contact injury to his left knee during a Texas walkthrough. Goosby reportedly walked off the field without assistance, but the severity remains unknown as his family, the coaching staff and the medical team await MRI results. No diagnosis has been confirmed. The guys examine how Texas could restructure its offensive line if Goosby misses extended time, including moving Melvin Siani to left tackle, returning Brandon Baker to right tackle or keeping Baker at guard and turning to one of the Longhorns' young tackles. They also explain why losing Goosby would affect more than pass protection, as Texas would need to replace the leadership of the offensive line's veteran anchor. Send us a text if you want to be on the Podcast & explain why!Knee pain that lingers at a low hum can be maddening, especially for runners who feel “mostly fine” until mileage adds up. We walk through a simple, trainer friendly screen for terminal knee extension (TKE) that takes minutes and often exposes a tiny side to side gap you can't afford to ignore. Two to five degrees sounds small, but it can change how the knee loads with every step, rep, and landing. From there, we lay out a clean decision tree: if TKE is limited, we talk daily practice, smart progressions, and how to apply just enough pressure without turning it into a painful battle. If both knees check out, we pivot to ankle dorsiflexion using the wall test (shoes off) and explain why limited ankle mobility can push stress upstream into the knee, especially in running. You'll also hear how to approach soft tissue work and foam rolling in a way that actually reduces sensitivity and makes new range of motion “stick.”Finally, we test what many programs ignore: calf stability and local muscular endurance. We break down the 25 rep single leg calf raise benchmark, what “clean reps” really look like, and how to build a simple weekly calf plan that supports stronger mechanics over time. We also connect the dots anatomically by revisiting the gastrocnemius and why it matters for both the ankle and the knee.If you found this useful, subscribe, share it with a trainer or running buddy, and leave a review telling us which test you're trying first.Want to become a SUCCESSFUL personal trainer? Knee injuries can leave active men stuck between two bad options: resting too long or pushing too hard. You'll learn: Why complete rest can lead to weaker muscles, tendons, ligaments, and cartilage How pushing through too much knee pain can trigger flare-ups and delay progress How to use the three-out-of-ten pain rule during exercise and the next morning Why rebuilding knee capacity requires the right progressive training plan, not just anti-inflammatories or passive treatments Chapters: (00:00) Introduction (01:36) Common Knee Injuries (02:10) See A Doctor First (03:10) Why Rest Fails (05:24) Pushing Causes Flareups (07:48) Finding the Right Load (09:10) 3 Out Of 10 Rule (11:55) Load Management Basics (12:19) My Knee Rehab Example (14:34) Exercise Beats Quick Fixes (15:25) R3 Knee Method Offer (16:16) Final Wrap Up Links Mentioned: Legendarylifepodcast.com/knee

Meniscectomies were once a very common surgery for knee pain. Then the data happened. Teppo Järvinen from the Finnish Centre for Evidence-Based Orthopaedics (FICEBO) joins Chris to talk about the recent 10-year data from the FIDELITY trial, showing that removing the meniscus in patients with knee pain did not improve symptoms and for a broader discussion about the role and importance of sham surgery and placebo controls in surgical research. He also shows Chris that orthopaedic surgeons are a surprisingly thoughtful and introspective group. Become a supporter of our show today either on Patreon or through PayPal!
