The PGA Tour heads to Vidanta Vallarta for the first time for this week's Mexico Open. Mexico has hosted several events in the past like the WGC-Mexico and Mayakoba, but this will be the first time that the PGA Tour has collaborated with Mexico's national championship. Opened in 2015, Vidanta Vallarta will host the event for the next three years. On this episode of WagerTalk's Tee Time from Vegas, golf handicappers Andy Lang and Nick Borrman share their thoughts on this week's tournament, including the favorites at the top of the leaderboard and some featured head-to-head matchups.#PGATour | #Golf | #MexicoOpen

In episode 35, we discuss Collin Morikawa's big win at the WGC Mexico. What a future that kid has in the great game of golf. We saw a lot of the field on sunday wearing red and black in honor of Tiger Woods. That was interesting. Johnny Manziel is making the jump from football/partying to professional golf. Following in the footsteps of Barstool Sport's Caleb Pressely, he is giving himself 12 years to become a pro, which would make him a solid 40 years young when he debuts on the tour. We preview the Arnold Palmer at Bay Hill coming up this weekend and discuss whether Arnie is the most popular drink named after a person. The weather is starting to get a bit warmer and golf is slowly but steadily creeping back into the picture as we get excited for the 2021 season. For those keep track at home, Chubba's goal of no 3 putts is still in tact as we enter month 3 of the new year. GRQotW29 Are you permitted to watch a video on YouTube (say George Gankas or Me&My Golf) during a round to obtain swing tips? This caught a few, as like me, I would have assumed this wouldn’t be permitted, but Rule 4.3a(3) & (4) only restricts information gathered during the round. What is allowed is using information that was gathered before the round, such as swing tips. But consideration to other players and no delaying of play unreasonably. It was certainly timely for some, but not all. DJ movable obstruction - https://youtu.be/mtP6YL6ACZY Easy ruling for DJ. So easy, he didn’t even require a referee, just picked up the utility box that was housing cables and moved it himself before pitching out sideways. Matt Wolff moves ball on putting green - https://youtu.be/RtmBmd8ddfs This is number one on my favourite rulings of the year so far. Matty Wolff playing in the WGC Mexico (played in Florida), accidentally taps his ball sideways on a practice swing when his ball is at rest on the green. It doesn’t count as a putt because Matt had no intention of hitting the ball, and thus the ball was replaced for no penalty. We also discuss Justin Thomas and his hot mic incident at the Sentry Tournament of Champions, is it time the PGA Tour re-thinks its policies on fines and suspensions? We end the news round-up with a discussion about Mike Whan leaving the LPGA and where he could go as well as chatting about major moves for WGC-Mexico and the possibility Augusta National could have patrons on the grounds in April. After the break we’re dishing out our best bets for the Sony Open plus our One and Done leans for Waialeale. Looking for a specific topic? Oh man, what a week; not just in golf news, but the world in general! We've got the 2022 PGA Championship and the 2021 WGC-Mexico looking for new homes, select sports stars--including some notable golfers--passing on Presidential Medals of Freedom, other golfers behaving badly, and Augusta National announcing there will be a "limited number of patrons" in attendance this coming April! Oh, and by the way, there was a pretty good golf tournament that took place in Hawaii this past weekend and another taking place on the "Big Island" this weekend! We cover all of that, and much, much more on this latest episode of the YSO pod, plus our picks/best bets for the Sony Open! Come tee it up with us and have a listen!!
This Monday episode came on the heels of a dispiriting Bears loss and in the middle of a Browns first quarter beatdown so it may bounce around a bit as Brendan and Andy recap the 2021 PGA Tour opener. First they hit on Harris English and his first win after some early career success and then an almost eight-year drought. This leads to more concern about the new FedExCup top 30 now getting invites to a Tournament of Mostly Champions. They also discuss the broadcast dismay at Joaquin Niemann not warming up before the playoff, Rahm’s outburst about metal spike marks all over the green, and Hideki’s abominable putting. A separate segment addresses Justin Thomas using a homophobic slur, his apology, and the Tour’s secretive discipline policy that does it no favors in this instance. News hits on Jordan Spieth going to see Butch, the misinterpretation of a “report” that the PGA is already moving in 2022, and reports that the WGC Mexico may be leaving Geronimo behind.
We recap an eventful week in golf, including Harris English flushing away the field, JT's slur and reaction, Part I of the HBO Tiger documentary, the PGA Championship moving, WGC Mexico moving, Mike Whan on the move, and so much more.
