Warriors beat Rockets to move on in NBA playoffs; Jets score with 2 seconds left in game 7 then beat Blues in 2OT; Pacers, Knicks, Nuggets and Leafs win game 1 in round 2; Tigers have best record in AL while Dodgers, Padres and Mets are battling in the NL; Will Rodgers sign with Steelers?
Today's word of the day is ‘2.2 seconds' as in Winnipeg Jets as in NHL as in hockey as in Game 7 as in madness. What did we just see? The Jets came back from a 2-goal deficit with 1:55 left. Wow. And then win it in 2OT!? Sorry, St. Louis. What could have been! (7:30) Another Game 7 happened but in the NBA. The Warriors did it on the road. Wow. Steph Curry had a huge 4th quarter. Buddy Hield had the game of his life. (15:30) We talked recently about adding another bag at first base will not happen, but should it? Triston Casas is the latest player to be done for the season after suffering a serious injury running to first. (24:10) So You Wanna Talk to Samson!? Someone asked me about contraction in MLB. What would need to happen for MLB to consider the Rockies or Marlins or Pirates as possible teams to go away? (33:34) Review: Good Night and Good Luck. (42:30) Gregg Popovich is headed to the front office. He was named the preisdent of the Spurs. Sad end to his coaching career, but needed move. The best to ever do it. As we get to mid-April we get to Rivalry Week Part 1, and we see classic games like North Carolina-Duke and Army-Navy. For the most part we have great conference clashes up and down the schedule this week. However, one giant non-conference game highlights the schedule this week. Central New York powerhouses Cornell and Syracuse head to Long Island to square off in the Game of the Week. D-Fly and Dixie are here to set the table for all of this week's feast. This year, Inside Lacrosse is proud to partner with the NCAA to offer you, our loyal listeners, $5 off all single-day ticket options (men and women) by using the code ILPOD at checkout. Our guest this week is Rutgers standout sophomore goalkeeper and 2024 Big Ten Freshman of the Year, Cardin Stoller. Stoller has been excellent, especially in last week's upset Maryland in which he stopped 14 shots and scored his second goal of the season. The guys talk about Camp Takajo, the MIAA to Rutgers pipeline, redshirting, Big Ten Freshman of the Year, the 2025 Scarlet Knights season, his Rutgers teammates, Goaliesmith, the upcoming matchup with Michigan, swimming in the Inner Harbor, Boys' Latin all-time greats and much, much more. WEEKEND PREVIEW Six games in our preview this week, with five legit Top 20 matchups and two Top 10 games and one of the best rivalries in the sport to highlight this week's schedule. SATURDAY No. 5 Army (9-1, 4-1 Patriot) at Navy (7-4, 3-2), 12:30 p.m., CBS Sports Network One of the best rivalries in the sport. Army has won the last two years, but Navy won 4-of-5 prior to that. While this is one of those rivalries where record truly doesn't matter, that is not the case. We haven't talked about Navy in a while, but they're right behind Army. No. 19 Johns Hopkins (6-5, 0-3 B1G) at No. 8 Penn State (7-3, 1-2), 1 p.m., Big Ten Plus What can you say? The Jays need this. Hopkins has controlled this series, winning last year and four of the last five meetings. However, this one is at Penn State, and the Nittany Lions have won four of the last five meetings in University Park. No. 6 Maryland (8-2, 1-2 B1G) at No. 2 Ohio State (11-1, 3-0), 2 p.m., Big Ten Network Big game in Columbus. Maryland has dominated this series, 14-3, and the Terps have won six in a row and eight of the last nine. No. 7 North Carolina (8-2, 1-0 ACC) at No. 12 Duke (9-3, 0-1), 4 p.m., ACC Network Fans may remember last year when a depleted UNC shocked No. 2-ranked Duke, 15-12. The 2025 Tar Heels aren't going to sneak up on anybody. No. 4 Syracuse (9-2) vs. No. 1 Cornell (9-1), Uniondale, N.Y., 4 p.m., Corrigan Sports Network Cornell has won four of the last five, including two consecutive. The game has gone into OT each of the last two meetings, with Cornell winning 18-17 in 2OT last year, and 16-15 in 2022. We can only hope for another one as good as those. SUNDAY No. 14 Michigan (6-5, 2-1 B1G) at No. 18 Rutgers (6-6, 2-1), noon, Big Ten Network Rutgers is 10-1 all-time against Michigan, dating back to 2012. RU lost in Ann Arbor in 2015 in the first ever meeting of the two teams as Big Ten foes. Since then, Rutgers has won nine straight, including a 6-0 all-time record at home against the Wolverines. In this week's Ovie-themed Give & Go, the guys talk about Ovechkin breaking Gretzky's record and Ovie's status in the pantheon of Washington, D.C. all-time great pros. 0:00 - Jokic is nursing about 1,000 injuries right now. And despite that, he played 50 minutes in a 2OT game and dropped a 60 pt triple double. How will this banged up Nuggets roster fare in the playoffs?14:52 - Yesterday, Chris Dempsey and Vic got into it on Twitter (briefly) regarding Coach Sanford's statement about Carmelo Anthony being the Nuggets first nationally known superstar. Phew! Lots to unpack there. Anyway, we had Dempsey on air today so he and Vic could end this debate once and for all.33:59 - Tyler Polumbus joined us live from CU's Pro Day where people think he's an NFL Scout and not just another radio host.
0:00 - Vic didn't sleep last night. He tossed and turned after the awful Nuggets loss. Our whole show was under a black cloud today because of the Nugs collapse. As grown men, how do we let sports affect us so much?13:48 - Nuggets play again tonight. Who can we expect to see out there on the 2nd night of a back-to-back against a bad Spurs team? ESPECIALLY after some of these guys played 50 minutes in the 2OT game yesterday. 31:34 - In the streaming era, it's becoming harder and harder to find the damn games on TV with each passing year.
0:00 - Are the Avalanche players watching the standings and losing focus because of it? Does the team need to tinker with any lineup combos before the playoffs? Head Coach Jared Bednar joined us this morning to answer all our burning questions.21:20 - The Nuggets had a golden opporunity to win in 2OT last night and they blew it. It's like they were given a...well, I'll let Vic explain it. 34:27 - RIP Val Kilmer. What an incredible acting career. Also, Brett's been off the show for a few days and he has some pent up Rockies takes.

The guys jump right into the news that DeMarco Murray was a candidate for the Penn State running backs coach job, but will stay at OU after all. Lock in for another DeMarco Murray/OU running backs discussion (1:30). Lee did not quite realize how lowly ranked OU's 2025 signing class is. This takes us on a journey of OU's previous recruiting classes. The 2017 class was incredible (28:05). Over to the John Mateer/Ben Arbuckle 2024 watch as Washington State won a 54-52 2OT shootout against San Jose State. Mateer and Arbuckle continued to show a lot of promise, while Mateer also provided two massive lowlights. Through 4 games we are still very much pleased about what we've seen from both Mateer and Arbuckle (41:20). Jalen Hurts and the Eagles dominated the Chiefs in the Super Bowl. Unfortunately, it was a very poor game (1:14:00). Weekend recap episode on deck with Norlander & Hartzell running through all the notable results from college basketball, with an emphasis on Houston's 2OT win at Kansas. Coogs have reeled off 12 straight wins and had to work for it on Saturday at the Phog. Of course Kansas is to blame for their part in blowing a 6-point lead with less than 30 seconds to go, but plenty to discuss from one of the games of the year in hoops so far this season. Also 7lots of talk on Auburn's win over Tennessee. Hartzell has an absurd Johni Broome take that rightfully gets dismissed by Norlander. Another loaded weekend of results in the SEC, plus another UConn loss, Duke gets it done on the road at Wake, and - oh yeah - Green Bay lost again. In a 2-for-1 postgame podcast special, Brent Axe recaps SU football's 33-25 win over Cal and SU basketball's 104-95 win over Youngstown State in 2OT. Chris Carlson joins Brent from Berkeley for a postgame report on the football team's win. Brent then recaps what he thought was SUs most complete game of the season and what it means to get to a 7-3 record with two games to go. On the basketball side, Brent was bewildered that Youngstown State became the third straight team to push Syracuse to the bringk and says that SU's defensive issues are an emergency for Adrian Autry and he has to make a lineup change (or two) to fix it with SU's schedule getting more competitive, starting with Texas on Thursday. Brent also reacted to opinions from Syracuse Sports Insiders on both of SU's wins. Become a Syracuse Sports Insider today! In this episode of the Podcast of Champions hosts Ryan Abraham and David Woods recap all 15 Big Ten week two games, reveal their newest Big Ten Power rankings, brag about how they each went 8-3 picking against the spread this week and of course as a bonus to our former Pac-12 listeners unveil their mythical Pac-12 Power Rankings in all their glory. There were some crazy results across this conference this weekend and overall it certainly wasn't as a good of a showing as the B1G had in the opening weekend. On the good side Ohio State, Indiana, USC and Minnesota won by a combined score of 229-3 and all four covered the spread plus Illinois upset No. 19 Kansas and Nebraska crushed Prime and CU. On the bad side Michigan got rolled by Texas, Iowa lost to rival Iowa State, Duke handled Northwestern in 2OT and Oregon needed a last-second field goal to beat Boise State. The guys give their thoughts on each and every game from the weekend and praise the teams that handled their business while panning the teams that failed to meet our high expectations as Big Ten football experts. As usual Ryan and Dave end the podcast answering listener emails and questions from the YouTube chat. Bet all the B1G games on MyBookie! Use promocode POC for up to a 100% deposit bonus! On DBR Bites #59, we recap Duke's victory over Northwestern on the edge of Lake Michigan! Duke won 26-20 in a 2OT affair in Evanston, and there were some good and ugly parts about the whole game. Donald and Jason begin by resurrecting a fan favorite for basketball games: Headlines! We'll be accepting them for football games as well, so don't forget to email us at dbrpodcast@gmail.com with your headlines after each football game moving forward! We then get into what we liked and disliked about the game, and there were some key plays on offense and defense that led to Duke's comeback win. No matter how ugly the game felt for the first 3.9 quarters, they were able to get to overtime and then win it with some key plays from our wide receivers. We also sing praises to the defense for keeping Duke in the game with some great plays and once again getting tackles in the backfield at a tremendous clip. After the break, the rest of the ACC had an up-and-down week, but there were some teams that had wins against P4 conference opponents that were noteworthy. The ACC needs to continue to get wins against the SEC, Big Ten, and Big 12 to help the conference when it comes time for the playoff and also some of these other bowl games. On Episode 503 of Spittin' Chiclets, the guys come to you LIVE as both the eastern and western conference finals are in full swing. The Rangers stun the Panthers in overtime to take a 2-1 series lead but the big story is Jacob Trouba's high elbow in game 3. Florida's Head Coach Paul Maurice had some words for the daring defenseman in his post game presser as Trouba was fined $5000. Over in the west, the 2OT winner in game 1 coming from none other than McJesus gives the Oilers life as they struggle in game 2. With a goalie like Jake Oettinger, it's easy to see why Dallas has made it this far. The guys are also joined Special Guests. This is one you won't want to miss so tune in LIVE.
