Photo by EDDIE MALLUK -- Decidedly twangy & slightly esoteric New York based musician, producer, writer and former Editor-in-Chief of Creem Magazine, Mark Petracca, aka DUSTY WRIGHT, takes time out to share a few KISS stories from a life on the front-lines of rock & roll ...The curator of Culture Catch, Dusty is as well-steeped an entertainment authority & aficionado as one might ever hope to meet (and a pretty good sport as he leans towards prog rock & punk, and admitted he doesn't own a KISS record!!!). Dusty's worn more hats in the biz than the guys on Bonanza, it's no wonder people call him 'the metaphysical cowboy'. He even ran Prince's fanzine, spending weeks at a time at Paisley Park ...Dusty takes us from his first hearing "Strutter" on WMMS The Buzzard in Cleveland in '73 to meeting Gene Simmons in '92 to hear the Revenge pitch, stopping off on the way to 'alleged goings-on' July 23rd of '75 when KISS recorded their set in Wildwood, NJ, some of which would be used on their ultimate breakthrough ALIVE! ...I forgot to ask if Dusty's willing now to enlist but his wife did date Paul Stanley at one point so let's call it even. That's rock & roll, thanks Dusty! - KISStorian.com --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/kisstorian/support

Continuing on Alia Al-Saji’s “A Phenomenology of Hesitation” (2014) and other things with guest Phil Hopkins. Can we restructure our (and the police's) reactions and live with each other? We further explore the psychology of habit and Al-Saji's notion of hesitation. How does it compare to other types of heistation recommended by philosophies and religions? Dusty Wright is an edutainment (education + entertainment) content creator based in New York City. He's been on the forefront of utilizing cutting edge technology for over 30 years. These past three years he's immersed himself and brokered deals in AR (augmented reality) and VR (virtual reality). Dusty was the executive producer for campaigns for Magnolia Bakery using AR and Swarovsky using VR. He's a founder and head of business development for disruptEDgroup.com — an immersive learning and development education platform using AR/VR. He is the owner/co-founder of the smart culture website CultureCatch.com — one of the first websites to produce and post both podcasts and webcasts. As a podcaster, he's interviewed hundreds of celebrities including David Lynch, Gore Vidal, Bob Weir, Ron Howard, Julie Taymor, Kevin Bacon, Danny Glover, and Tilda Swinton. He's the former editor of Creem and Prince's New Power Generation magazines. As a writer, Dusty's developed multiple TV projects and pilots. He's also written 8 feature film scripts and co-wrote the indie feature The Gentleman Bandit (staring Ed Lauter and Ryan O'Neil), produced the award-winning PBS documentary Wildwood Days (Bruce Willis, Dick Clark, et al), and worked as a segment producer for ESPN, Lifetime, etc. Dusty got his start in entertainment as a TV variety agent at the William Morris Agency. And, as a critically acclaimed singer/songwriter (DustyWright.com), he's released seven albums and has had his music featured in films, television and online. His most recent album Gliding Towards Oblivion was released in December 2018. It featured a cover of Donovan's 1966 hit “Mellow Yellow” with the acclaimed Scottish bard on background vocals. His next album of protest music entitled Can Anyone Hear Me? will be released in 2020. He loves tennis, skiing, and meeting strangers. On this episode, Dusty shares his one way ticket stepping aboard the mothership at the end of the film "Close Encounters of the Third Kind" to explore life outside of this solar system. He also reflects on his celebrity interviews, the early days of podcasting, music today, and why New York City is such a great place in which to engage strangers in conversation. Dusty is just one of the dynamic guests featured on The One Way Ticket Show, where Host Steven Shalowitz explores with his guests where they would go if given a one way ticket, no coming back! Destinations may be in the past, present, future, real, imaginary or a state of mind. Steven's guests have included: Nobel Peace Prize Winner, President Jose Ramos-orta; Legendary Talk Show Host, Dick Cavett; Law Professor, Alan Dershowitz; Fashion Expert, Tim Gunn; Broadcast Legend, Charles Osgood; International Rescue Committee President & CEO, David Miliband; Playwright, David Henry Hwang; Journalist-Humorist-Actor, Mo Rocca; SkyBridge Capital Founder & Co-Managing Partner, Anthony Scaramucci; Abercrombie & Kent Founder, Geoffrey Kent; Travel Expert, Pauline Frommer, as well as leading photographers, artists, chefs, writers, intellectuals and more.

Immersive Virtual Reality & Suicide Prevention, Part 1 My guests today on The Not Old Better Show are Dusty Wright, and he's joined in his home studio via Skype, with colleagues, Director, Stephanie Riggs and Producer, Serena Belsby. Please note the links to everyone's details, but it is an august group. Talented and respected. Join us for a great show, tour de force, but, I must tell you, right at the outset, while this project is a powerful, brilliant application of VR, it is also the result of a tragic suicide. One the one hand, a thoughtful, inspired, and intelligent deployment of the virtual reality technology. And, on the other hand, a brutal, difficult subject which galvanized this team and their solution. This is a personal subject for me and my family, as well as many others. It's important to discuss this, as hard as it may be. As reminder, please check out The Not Old Better web site where you'll find links to where you can go check out all the material, and how best to contribute and get involved. You can easily go directly to Sunchaser Entertainment sunchaserent.com and click “Donate.” Donations are tax deductible. Please check out part 2 of the interview with Dusty, Stephanie and Serena… Please donate to our tax decutible "Fly" VR music video fund for suicide prevention & fighting depression!

Have you ever wanted a sandbox game similar to Spelunky that uses time travel as its central mechanic? That's exactly what Moresome Games is doing with Tic Toc - a time traveling sandbox game that allows you to bend time to your will. Want to the asteroid from wiping out the dinosuars? You can do so, yet be aware: the present could be full of only evolved, intelligent dinosaurs! Want to stop a plague? It's possible - but by doing so, you may cause a continent to be overpopulated and hungry for more land. It's the many scenarios that randomly play out in Tic Toc (currently seeking crowdfunding on Kickstarter), and it's a pleasure to interview the two men responsible for this unique, time traveling sandbox title - Kyle Warwick and Mitchell Rowe. It's a fascinating discussion with two guys that truly have a unique game on their hands. Love time traveling? Enjoy sandbox titles? Then this is an interview you will not want to miss!Hosted by Dusty Wright, Game Academy Radio is the official weekly radio show of GameAcademy.com.

If you are a fan of turn-based strategy games or even strategic RPGs, then this week's episode is a must-listen. I have a chat with Mat Staltman of Bootsnake Games to discuss his team's latest game (currently seeking crowdfunding on Kickstarter) Deadrock Divide. Inspired by 80's Saturday morning cartoons, Deadrock Divide tasks players with exploring the galaxy in an effort to earn riches from aligning themselves with factions and corporations that are vying to get wealthy from one of the most sought-after resources in the galaxy: deadrock. Inspired by turn-based strategy classics such as Civilization, Deadrock Divide is part strategy game, part RPG, but is looking 100% awesome.
