Another phone call about KISS between brothers as we share our opinions & conjecture on the never ending war of words in the 'family' as we accelerate towards the "End Of The Road". Some wine cannot be tasted before it's time, but KISS is always in harvest: Last to the party, Midwestern musician, songwriter & ROCKstorian ED STEVENSON is our latest victim. Another reluctant KISStorian, Ed is called upon abruptly to sound off on KISStory in what can only be described as a fruitful and telling ambush. A skeptic from the start, Ed graciously agrees to takes us back to '75 and his first knowledge of KISS via the then unescapable FM hit "Rock & Roll All Nite". Preoccupied with 'heavier music' at the time, and still today, Ed comes clean about the genesis of the rock records that got he and his siblings attention back in the day, spewing the Gospels of Moby Grape, Bowie, Ian Hunter & Deep Purple. One senses Ed may have bitten his tongue here 'n there for the sake of levity but we welcome him to the KISS Army just the same! A late nite 'needle drop' on RRO, KISS's warmest and perhaps most faithful (and on-brand) studio offering, Eddie Kramer's diamond in the rough! A producer's job is to get the best out of a given band, and their material, at a given place in time, relevant to the market .and Kramer's delivered in spades. In fact, Kramer's sonic experiment on RRO captured KISS's raw live sound & vibe on a 'studio' release better than any album in their careers. Phone calls about KISS? We set the bar (highfalutin) and this episode is no exception as the mysterious 'RacerX' finally agrees to share, for the first time anywhere, his ground-breaking KISStoric theological breakdowns of KISS lyrics, come hell or high water! From Simmon's "Seduction Of The Innocents", "Thou Shalt Not" and the semi-Biblical "On The 8th Day" to the Paul Stanley LIU vision statement that is "Exciter", RacerX masterfully breaks down the potentially deeper, more central meaning of KISS's lyrics from an entirely different yet profoundly relevant KISStoric perspective here-to-for unexplored in the annals of rock! - KISStorian.com --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/kisstorian/support

Albeit from afar, an honest take and perhaps unnecessarily angry rant, and harsh calling out of the Space Man and his management after seeing clips from 'Creatures Fest'. Kudos to the organizers for pulling it off but, man, did we get a treat. The kind of treat I'd prefer my friends / long-time KISS detractors never get a hold of, or they'd be dead on the mark when they opined yet again "I still think they suck!". Set phasers for a KISStoric 'inside job' as we time travel with luminary KISStorian, PETER ARQUETTE of KISSAsylum.com and KISSMuseum.com. Few men have swum so far in KISS waters without without being forced at some point to "take heed" of our Gods of Thunder, Stanley/Simmons, in some capacity. And yet Peter has lived a life fully-immersed in KISS since 1987 as a curator of content and a beloved conduit for fans, all without ever even dipping a single toe into Facebook et al.! Yes, a KISS Bigfoot with no social media footprint (no small feat). Peter takes us back to his 'Trail By Fire', his first KISS concert at the Capital Center in 1977, a life-changing moment that would ultimately land him a seat with the Elders and Morpheus, laughing 'all the way' to Jendell & back. Discussions range from chopsticks with Paul Stanley, the 'Return of KISS' in '79, KISS at Hammerjacks, hanging in Europe with the original Catman, his appearances on ThreeSidesOfTheCoin, 'Crazy Nights' with Eric Carr, Peter's rich KISS Convention history, 'Cadillac Dreams' and a number of keen observations about the band at "The End Of The WORLD" (tour). Only just scraping the outer surface of a planet worth of KISStory, Arquette stops short of admitting he has the Talisman box. - KISStorian.com --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/kisstorian/support
Rock Historian, Author, Podcaster, Youtuber, English spy and KISS fanatic ("we're not the Free Masons") JULIAN GILL of KISSFAQ.com 'Unmasks' to walk the proverbial plank with KISStorian Brothers, ever-humbly sharing his candid thoughts on any & all things KISS. The discussion takes us from the early days of KISSFAQ, online now since 1996, to the interviewing process that went into the writing of his benchmarks books on the band, most notably Gene, Ace, Peter & Paul; A detailed exploration of the 1978 KISS solo albums and Odyssey, the definitive examination of "Music From The Elder", KISS' cult-classic concept album. Few Black Diamonds are left in the rough as we ramble from Ace to Vincent Angel, Starz, Ken, Daniel, Mark ^& founder Tim @ KISSFAQ.com, Bruce Kulick, Julian's KISSFAQ interview with the late, great Bob Kulick before he passed, Sean Delaney, Bill Aucoin, Carol Kaye, Neil & Joyce Bogart, Toby Wright, Peter Criss, Vinnie Poncia, KISS in Dubai, Julian's 'best show ever' experience on the EOTR tour & beyond. Any Way You Slice it, we find out Julian is at the core a Rock & Roll Over booster born under the full eclipse of an Asylum moon. Photo by EDDIE MALLUK -- Decidedly twangy & slightly esoteric New York based musician, producer, writer and former Editor-in-Chief of Creem Magazine, Mark Petracca, aka DUSTY WRIGHT, takes time out to share a few KISS stories from a life on the front-lines of rock & roll ...The curator of Culture Catch, Dusty is as well-steeped an entertainment authority & aficionado as one might ever hope to meet (and a pretty good sport as he leans towards prog rock & punk, and admitted he doesn't own a KISS record!!!). Dusty's worn more hats in the biz than the guys on Bonanza, it's no wonder people call him 'the metaphysical cowboy'. He even ran Prince's fanzine, spending weeks at a time at Paisley Park ...Dusty takes us from his first hearing "Strutter" on WMMS The Buzzard in Cleveland in '73 to meeting Gene Simmons in '92 to hear the Revenge pitch, stopping off on the way to 'alleged goings-on' July 23rd of '75 when KISS recorded their set in Wildwood, NJ, some of which would be used on their ultimate breakthrough ALIVE! ...I forgot to ask if Dusty's willing now to enlist but his wife did date Paul Stanley at one point so let's call it even. "Hot In The Shade" was a return to 'classic KISS'. By and large its a collection of fun rockers that takes itself a little less seriously, and lies in stark contrast, to their prior release, the 80's-glossed "Crazy Nights". Soon it would all be a mute point as the onset of grunge would send KISS on a fools errand resulting in gloriously heavy but ill-conceived "Carnival of Souls". Indeed, HITS finds KISS on a low budget, trimming sails, vamping up demos and polishing the ballad "Forever" enough to ensure an MTV hit video and a summer tour of the sheds as the band re-positioned themselves as 70's rockers still cool enough to matter at the end of the 80's, no small feat! - KISStorian.com --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/kisstorian/support

Brother Dave offers late-nite perspective and observations on KISS live in Amityville in '73, catching the band at their ever-evolving inception, a case study if ever on KISStory. Bits include thoughts on abandoned tunes "Acrobat", "Life In The Woods" and "Simple Type". What is gleamed is a decided mix of southern rock, Brit power-pop and vestiges of the late-60's power-trio / hippie-jam rock soul apparently coursing through the young veins of then 22-year-old lead guitarist Ace Frehley.
