How was Ben Lee's second gig as support for Sonic Youth?! Ben Lee's band Noise Addict were loved by Sonic Youth's Thurston Moore and the Beastie Boys Mike D and toured with Sebadoh when he was only 16 years old! How the heck did all that happen? Why did he decide to go solo so soon after finding huge success with Noise Addict?  What do Mike D and Money Mark have to do with Ben working with T-Bone Burnett and how did that song end up on the end credits of the film Best Men? He's recorded with Evan Dando and Mandy Moore, teamed up with Ben Folds and Ben Kweller to form The Bens and won ARIA Single Of The Year for his song Catch My Disease, but how did the idea for that song start. Dr Jess Duckworth, aka The Piano Doctor, composes delicate, melodic, reflective piano music that resonated across the world during the covid pandemic and ever since, propelling her album to the top of the UK Classical Charts and securing her a top 20 UK album in early 2022. As a medical doctor, Jess was at the frontline of the UK covid pandemic, but then, on her way home after long, long shifts in hospital she would sit at the piano and play one of her beautiful compositions for the patients who could not have visitors and the medics and staff who could barely rest. Hear Jess talk about this time in the world and how it inspired her to compose more beautifully emotive songs for her forthcoming album, with songs about new beginnings, not just coming out of the pandemic, but in many areas of life, including the effect of her latest new medical role and the babies she'll be bringing into the world! Dr Jess Duckworth is a hugely talented composer and pianist and a huge inspiration, no wonder our panel fell head over heels for her, and we are sure you will too. Be sure to check out Dr Jess Duckworth's highly emotive music on your favorite music provider. John Eyres spoke to us about sneaking into the theatre as a kid in Manchester, working with his son Paul Eyres on the film "Fairytale" and employing optimism and British humor when telling tragic stories. John's son, film producer Paul Eyres proudly recounts seeing his father go from delivering bread for a living to opening a store which would turn into the biggest film provider in Wales.  Guest host Rod Smith, Senior Executive at 108 Media, shared his own experience working his way up in the film industry starting in VHS and DVD retail. Find out what John and our host and the Godmother of Indie film, Rose Ganguzza think of Rotten Tomatoes, whether it is more important to make money from your movie or to get critical reviews, the dominance of the North American versus the International film market and how the independent film industry has evolved over time.  John spoke in depth about his upcoming film “Fairytale,” starring our host Colin O'Donghue, John Belushi & Archie Panjabi; the story of an Irish comedian in New York who falls in love with an American bartender. He is consulting with Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Inductee Donovan for the film's music! “Matchstick Man” is the true story of Johnny Owen, a boxer who kept fighting despite being ridiculed constantly for his unusual build. While both stories involve tragedy, John is confident that viewers will not leave feeling morose. Why does John believe that naivete can be a weapon for creatives? Why did Mike Tyson visit Johnny Owen's (the Matchstick Man's) grave?  Listen to the podcast to find out! John Eyeres IMDB Music. Music is the difference between a good film and a great one. Based on Dan's incredible director and producer credits, you'd never guess that he was once an introverted engineering student. From dropping out of school to doing an apprenticeship with film editor Susan Booth, Dan chalks up his success to dumb luck, curiosity and daring to take risks. Dan's directing credits include Game of Thrones, True Detective, NYPD Blue, Better Call Saul, HBO's The Leftovers, The Servant, Chicago PD, Chicago Fire and Ozark. He has executive produced or produced Jack Ryan, House M.D. and Emmy nominated Lovecraft Country. Miami Vice was among Dan's first projects. He was associate producer and music supervisor at a time when using popular music in film was still a relatively new concept.  His first directing job was for a pilot episode of Law & Order - the game changing TV show that went from being turned down by every network to setting the tone for procedurals on network television! Why did Dan almost turn down his first directing gig? Why does he not like to direct more than 3 seasons of any TV show? Listen to indie filmmakers present their latest productions and describe specific scenes as they consider music submitted by our audience.  Hosted by music supervisor and former Sony Epic Executive Jason P. Rothberg along with his co host, the Godmother of Indie Films, Rose Ganguzza. Craig Ross American guitarist Craig Ross is an integral part of the Lenny Kravitz sound, well known for performing and recording lead guitar with Kravitz. He has toured and co-written with Kravitz since the 1991 "Mama Said" tour, but do you want to know which female rock star introduced them?  He has written and played on every Lenny Kravitz album since, as well as recording with Sheryl Crow, Mick Jagger, B.B. King, Eric Clapton, The Black Crowes, Nikka Costa and others. But Craig was playing guitar in Hollywood venues when he was just 16 (and underage!) with his band Broken Homes, opening for musicians including Stevie Ray Vaughan, INXS, Guns N' Roses and Jane's Addiction but do you want to know who and what originally inspired Craig to pick up a guitar? You can find out the answers to all this and more, including a guest appearance by Craig's old High School pal, fellow musician and producer, Danny Saber. Plus hear what is said when Craig meets Generation X and Westworld guitarist Bob Derwood Andrews for the very first time. It was then that Rick Dees gave Martling his nickname, "The Joke Man." Jackie is best known for his eighteen years as head writer and a cast member on the Howard Stern Show. A comedy headliner since 1979, he has released three comedy lp's, six 78-minute dirty joke CDs, three videos, a DVD (A Safe Distance from Genius), six joke books including 1998's best-selling Simon & Schuster title, Jackie "The Joke Man" Martling's Disgustingly Dirty Joke Book and the iPhone app The Jackie Button.  Martling appeared as himself in the comedy documentary The Aristocrats and the comedy film Comedy's Dirtiest Dozen. He has been featured in many films, including Mail Order Bride, Venus & Vegas, White Irish Drinkers and Send No Flowers. Martling released his first music album, Happy Endings, in 2007, co-produced by guitarist Frank Vignola. In 2010, Martling wrote and performed a one-man show that ran in New York City titled JokeLand on Broadway. His autobiography “The Joke Man: Bow to Stern,” was published in 2017.
