Send us a textDespite all the rain, the Minnesota Twins and Cleveland Guardians managed to get a couple games in at Target Field this series, splitting the pair. And that seemed just fine, considering how battered the Twins' lineup is now. David and Dan discuss the impact weather had on this series while seriously questioning how Rocco Baldelli handled it, while they also saw the ending to Game 1 as the most Minnesota ending a baseball game could have. They assess how the team is holding together the lineup without Carlos Correa and Byron Buxton, and they look ahead to a big weekend of baseball in the AL Central. It's May, and you know what that means...AANHPI Heritage Month! First, we chat on-the-ground reporter Naomi's visit to Target Field to see Trevor Larnach and Lee Jung Hoo in the flesh, Stephen Nelson's dedication to pronouncing Asian names correctly, and MLB's AAPI Heritage Month posts. Then, our guys were making moves...on and off the roster. Connor Wong and IKF return from the IL, but a buuuunch of guys go on it, and Matt Bowman and Kenta Maeda are DFAed by their clubs. In AAPI Heritage Month?! Is that even legal?! Player news is positive this week, with Steven Kwan having a stellar May (not to mention a sweet article about his mom), Kim Hyeseong is finally called up to the majors, and pitchers stay strong despite an L here and there. And somewhere in there, the Kpop and Kbaseball worlds collide as Naomi declares which Korean MLB player corresponds with which member of BTS. Send us a textThe Minnesota Twins win their 8th straight game sweeping the three-game set against the San Francisco Giants at Target Field. The guys break down the unexpected deep start from Chris Paddack, and dive further into the Louis Varland "Hulk" hype video. David is still upset every time he has to figure out how to watch the Twins, and Dan further refines his grading rubric. David wants to know if the recent surge for the team changes what they should do come the trade deadline, and Dan wants to see Carson McCusker at the big league level sooner rather than later. The boys discuss Royce Lewis' first hit of the season, and David toys with the idea of putting Vazquez as his beast. Thanks for listening, and as always, go Twins! Send us a textThe Minnesota Twins stayed hot at home, sweeping the Baltimore Orioles in convincing fashion across three games at Target Field. David and Dan discuss the many thrilling moments, which included a pair of three-run homeruns by Byron Buxton, a big blast from Carlos Correa, a significant workload from the bullpen and a memorable hit from Brooks Lee, to name just a few. Despite the long homer, David isn't so sure Correa is actually healthy and wonders whether he should go to the IL for a short stint. Dan is curious about just how good Jhoan Duran will end up being this season after this excellent opening six weeks. They also wonder: Was Louis Varland's shovel pass to first base just the lesson the Twins pitchers needed? And why is he being compared to The Hulk? James Patry is a lifelong Red Sox fan from New Hampshire who is closing in on his goal of visiting all 30 Major League ballparks. James shares how his love of the game was born in the backyard where his older brother Oscar patiently pitched tennis balls to him night after night, and how baseball has remained a constant thread in his life ever since. We hear stories of traveling with his late father to stadiums like the Metrodome and Jacobs Field, and how he plans to make Target Field the final stop on his ballpark journey as a tribute to those memories. Send us a textThe Minnesota Twins complete their first sweep of 2025 taking three straight from the Los Angeles Angels at Target Field. The Twins were flying high with the return of Pablo Lopez to the roster and Royce Lewis starting a rehab assignment at AAA. While spirits were high there was some sadness as the Twins breakout prospect Luke Keaschall suffered a fractured forearm after being HBP in game 1. Dan praises Rocco's bullpen management and wonders if the Twins may try and move a starting pitcher before the trade deadline. David wants to know if Rocco will continue letting lefty batters see lefty pitchers once he has a full bench, and also wants to know what the reasonable expectations should be for Royce upon his return to the roster. In this episode, Andrew sits down with Clark Griffith, the former owner of the Minnesota Twins, for an exclusive discussion about baseball, revenue sharing, and the state of the sport today.Clark shares his firsthand experience working on groundbreaking proposals to institute NFL-style revenue sharing in Major League Baseball, a plan that could have leveled the playing field for smaller-market teams. From his dramatic firing in 1984 to current-day negotiations, Clark breaks down how baseball's finances have evolved and what could still be done to change the game.In addition to the deep dive into baseball economics, the conversation explores the philosophy behind the fifth game theory—how every MLB season boils down to those nail-biting, late-decision games that make or break a team's playoff hopes. Clark also shares predictions for the upcoming season, touching on the Minnesota Twins' pitching and key players to watch, like Carlos Correa, Royce Lewis, and Byron Buxton.Plus, learn about the latest technological innovations at Target Field, including facial recognition entry and the exciting new concession experiences designed to make your trip to the ballpark smoother and more enjoyable. This is a must-listen for any baseball fan, sports economist, or anyone who loves a good conversation about America's favorite pastime.Don't forget to join our email list and subscribe to our YouTube Channel! There were positives (Twins offense comes to life; Pablo Lopez's return) and negatives (Luke Keaschall's injury) from Friday's 11-4 win at Target Field. Henry reviewed all of it from the ballpark on a busy sports weekend in the Twin Cities.
Send us a textThe Minnesota Twins win a series for the third time in eight opportunities, handling the Chicago White Sox in two of three at Target Field. David and Dan are pleased with the series win and some of the positive signs, most notably the play of rookie Luke Keaschall, whose flowing golden locks definitely make him a better player (or at least more fun to watch steal bases). Dan does his best to defend the idea of keeping Rocco Baldelli on as manager for not just this year but for a long time beyond. David has a path for the Twins to get back to .500 by the All-Star Break in July. And they've both got some empathy for Rocco who has turned so often lately to an empty bench. After a 3-3 road trip through the land of transplanted teams and lakes with too many names, The Put it in the Books Show is back with its second episode of Season 8! Farace, Rodriguez, and Keith are on deck, while Producer Joe takes the night off—probably still recovering from his scouting trip to find the best hot dog stand at Target Field. The Mets head back to Citi Field with an 11-7 record, a team ERA of 2.38 (best in baseball), and an offense that continues to hit like it's allergic to the month of April. They're batting .219 as a team (21st in MLB), which somehow looks worse when you realize half of the team's errors belong to Francisco Lindor, who apparently wanted to make sure fans stayed warm by keeping the gloves moving. But are Mets fans overreacting to the defensive struggles of an elite shortstop, or should we expect cleaner play from a guy getting paid like a defensive anchor? In center field, Jose Siri is hurt—again. So who should get the majority of the playing time? The crew debates whether the next man up is the answer or just a placeholder until someone actually hits .250.And in what can only be described as the most Mets thing ever, Francisco Alvarez homered in a rehab game, then got hit on the exact same hand he broke. Luckily, he's going to be okay—but is the universe just messing with us at this point?Plus: do injuries sometimes fast track the future? With younger players being thrown into the fire earlier than expected, are we getting a sneak preview of what the next generation of Mets might look like? And should we be concerned that said sneak preview includes a .219 team average? We'll also preview the upcoming seven-game homestand against the Cardinals and Phillies, which means we're about to find out whether the Mets are contenders, pretenders, or just really good at ruining Philly fans' weeks.Join us for all that, plus dry humor, overreactions, and Rodriguez trying to claim he predicted this pitching dominance all along. It's Season 8, Episode 2. Let's put it in the books!
Send us a textThe Minnesota Twins take 2 of 3 against the New York Mets at Target Field. Andrew "Hoges" Hoganson fills in and the boys discuss the listless performance put forth by the Twins in game one, and then turnaround for the team in games 2 and 3. The Twins pitching staff still doesn't know how to throw to 1st base, and David aligns with Rocco in his feelings about Jorge Alcala. Hoges thinks Rocco should have a quicker hook when relievers are struggling, and David is confused why Vazquez is hitting with the bases loaded. David offers a crazy take about Carlos Correa and Hoges is furious with all of the soft tissue injuries plaguing the roster.
