Current EventsSeahawks: The NFL draft is looming and mock drafts are carrying more and more weight. Huskies corner! Sav'ell Smalls announced he's entering the transfer portal. He was a standout two-way player at Garfield HS and a highly sought after 5-star recruit. His freshman year was truncated by COVID 19 and then ZTF and Jeremiah Martin emerged. He didn't see a lot of playing time. Sav'ell is a beast of an athlete and chose UW over his pick of blue chip programs. Montlake owes him a lot of gratitude and we hope he fluorishes in his next destination. He ends his Dawgs career with 32 tackles, 1 TFL, 0 sacks and 1 fumble recovery. What's Kraken!? Main Event | -The Seattle Mariners can't hit and sometimes they can't pitch.- No extra innings games in the past week, thank goodness. - M's came home and swept the sorry ass Rockies, outscorign them 15-5 in a 3 game set. - JK continues to be hot, he's 8th in the AL in WAR ahead of Trout and Rafael Devers. - In his last 7 games, Kelenic is batting 391/462/1000 with 4 HR and 6 RBI. He's a machine. - On the flipside, Julio is slumping. In that same time frame he's hitting 172/250/379 with a 2b a 3b and a HR. Funny how that's a slump. - His BABIP is abysmal over this time probably due to a slight uptick in flyballs. He's hitting the ball hard, they're just dying before the warning track. - NOW FOR THE PITCHING: First things first. Luis Castillo should be the AL CY favorite right now. He spun another gem last sunday going 18 up, 18 down through 6. He wound up going 7, 2H 9K no walks. We won 1-0. - Kirby and Tommy Milone (who was filling in for new father Marco Gonzales, both pitched well agianst the rockies too. Chris flexen's turn came up against the Brewers last night and aside from an early inning meltdown, he pitched well enough for us to win. Unfortunately it was Penn Murfee's turn to let the team down when he relieved Flex in the 7th - The Brewers are one of the hottest teams in baseball and have the best run differential for any team that didn't start the season on a 13 game win streak. It's okay to falter a little against a former CY winner, but we can't get swept. - Adam let's keep track of the performance of this offseason's "big acquisitions" i.e. Wong, La Stella, Hernandez and Pollock. I've done some excel wizardry and created a table I can update and it'll spit out their combine slash line. Robby's Hot Take (5 second intro music... 30 seconds w/ 2 mins of discussion and banter) | They have 45 road points but only 33 home points. 21 road wins is 2nd only to the New Jersey Devils, who have 23. It might be in the team's best on-ice interest to wind up a 6 seed than 3 or 4 in the west, but is it in the franchise's? | Lightning Round 2 Listener Questions!

Bring out the brooms, boys! For the first time in 2021, the Blue Jays have swept a series, and it came against an impressive opponent in Alex Anthopolous' Atlanta Braves. Party like it's 1992! We welcomed our good pal BK on this post-series episode and talked about how the lineup is finally firing on all cylinders with George Springer and Teoscar Hernandez back in the mix and whether or not this could be the start of a major run. We also talked about the most recent glut of injuries the team is facing, as Alejandro Kirk, Anthony Castro, and Tommy Milone went on the Injured List, while Springer is dealing with some kind of mysterious "fatigue" issue. Finally, we looked ahead to the four-game series coming up in Oakland, went up and down Toronto's minor-league affiliates and talked interesting things to watch from them this season, and then went off on a random discussion about baseball in Vancouver and which time zone is the best for sports. But Alejandro Kirk, Anthony Castro and Tommy Milone are out with injuries, and the bullpen continues to take on a high workload. Can Toronto keep the good times going? Tell me Vladdy doesn't deserve all the AL awards.Episode 499 sees the host A.J. Andrews try to find as many awards as she can to award to Vladimir Guerrero Jr. The start to the season for the former top prospect has been spectacular, and she sees signs of life from his teammates, like Rowdy Tellez and Alejandro Kirk. However, some teammates aren't pulling their weight. Andrews' ire turns to Marcus Semien in the leadoff spot, as the signing's OBP has plummeted. She offers a solution for who should be at the top of the lineup, at least until George Springer returns. Finally, she continues to bask in the glory of her Steven Matz prediction and his 3-0 start to the season, because that's more fun than talking about Anthony Kay and Tommy Milone.Follow the podcast on Twitter @LockedOnJays and follow the host @A_J_Andrews!Subscribe on Himalaya, Google Play, Spotify, the Audacy app and iTunes! Please help us donate to social justice causes at https://lockedonpodcasts.com/blacklivesmatter/This episode is sponsored by Jays From the Couch, Built Bar, BetOnline AG, Rock Auto and the Locked On Podcast Network.Support Us By Supporting Our Sponsors! The Toronto Blue Jays are back, baby! Spring training action officially starts tomorrow, and the Blue Jays have a new player development facility to ring in another year of baseball with. Mark, Bryson and Jacob also discuss the Tommy Milone signing and bits of news from camp: the decision to gut the radio broadcast, Vladimir Guerrero Jr.'s weight loss, Randal Grichuk's playing time conundrum, and Nate Pearson's load management. The Braves have achieved several 'firsts' in club and MLB history this season, and that didn't stop against Miami. DOB and EOF react to Atlanta's record-setting night, and the players that made it possible (1:15). How about RAJ's spectacular September (and we're not even halfway through the month! - 9:45)? Tommy Milone is one lucky hurler; two starts in the span of 11 days where he was aided by at least 10 runs of support in one inning (24:00)?! Adam Duvall is tearing the cover right off the ball this season (40:15). Will his jaw-dropping feat ever be matched by another Braves player? Is this the end of the line for Ender Inciarte (45:30)? Ryan and Brent discuss the start to Ian Anderson's career, the wholly unpredictable Tommy Milone trade, and incorrectly guess what Tuesday's roster move will be. And, as the title hints, they discuss Brian Snitker's tactical strengths and weaknesses.
The Orioles got Kevin Smith! Now...how many Kevin Smiths are there, exactly? For some stupid reason, that's how way more of the show went today than you'd expect. We get to the bottom of the important issues, you guys. At the bottom of Hour 1, former Orioles pitcher Tommy Milone joined us to discuss being dealt to the Braves, why he felt so comfortable in his short time in Baltimore and has hope for good things to come for the organization and more. Early in Hour 2, Ravens Senior VP of marketing Brad Downs joined us to discuss their "Community of Fans" cardboard cut-out program and other ideas they're considering-including some to honor Mo Gaba. And at the bottom of Hour 2, we caught up with Yahoo! Sports NFL writer Terez Paylor, who recently wrote about how Lamar Jackson could be better in 2020 than he even was in 2019.
Paul and Brendan react to the Orioles' trades of Tommy Milone, Mychal Givens and Miguel Castro. Then Steve Melewski joins the podcast (34:00) to discuss the deals the O's DIDN'T make.

2020's trade deadline has come and gone, leaving Atlanta with disappointed fans. DOB and EOF discuss the atmosphere within a clubhouse that is welcoming in new players after the deadline, and those whose team didn't make a move (4:30). What's the prevailing sentiment from both ends of the spectrum? For those teams that avoided making trades, is it a foreboding sign players? The guys address the elephant in the room: Why didn't Atlanta secure an available, high-profile pitcher to reinforce their rotation at the deadline (8:15)? Was the asking price too steep (14:30)? The Braves most recent trade acquisition, Tommy Milone, was roughed up against Philadelphia in his first start for the Bravos. The challenging circumstances of his start in mind though, is it OK to give him a mulligan (19:30)? What was Snitker's opinion on a relatively uneventful deadline (24:00)? David and Eric react to The Athletic's Jeff Schultz's column illuminating Atlanta and GM Alex Anthopoulos' mistake in not signing championship-contending commodities last Winter (32:15). The guys detail their interaction with professional athletes and how they comport themselves, sign autographs, and consciously, make an effort to make a positive, lasting impression (47:00). Lastly, will we see Tucker Davidson called up soon, and is Max Fried a top-5 lock in the NL Cy Young race (1:05:30)? Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

The guys hit the Falcons report as It was time for the Strong Arm Story of the day The MLB trade deadline came and passed today without the Braves making any major trades at the deadline for another starter after the team got Tommy Milone yesterday. Dukes & Bell talked about the confidence in the team moving forward. Carl asked the question how confident are you in this team after the deadline. “How confident are you because this is it, you’re not going to do anything else, you’re basically saying I believe in Fried.” Dukes said “You hope now, keeping your fingers crossed that Cole Hamels can come back and give you something this month, it’s September, he’s got to show us in the next few weeks that he can give us something. Who else are you leaning on, Milone is a starter, yes and you’re trying to get some help there, who else? Ian Anderson? Ian Anderson, right?” Mike said Cole Hamels has to step up. “Cole Hamels has got to be able to produce, he needs to be able to step up and go, I don’t know what the time table is there, I know he’s an older pitcher now who just can’t seem to stay healthy. But he’s got a chance to contribute and there will be some pressure there.” Bell said. Guy Talk. See omnystudio.com/policies/listener for privacy information.

DFSR’s Doug Norrie and James Davis take to the podcast to breakdown a full Tuesday of MLB action for DraftKings and FanDuel. There are some interesting pitching decisions today. Chris Archer is expensive but is clearly the best arm on the slate. It’s just a question of whether you can pay up for him a matchup against the Blue Jays. They also discuss Jeff Samardzija against the strikeout prone Brewers, Lance Lynn against the woeful Padres and Jimmy Nelson taking on the Giants. On the offensive side of things, plenty of teams are in good spots. The red hot Orioles face Paul Blackburn who doesn’t strike anyone out. The top of the D-Backs lineup looks great against Tommy Milone and the Yankees square up against the lefty Matt Boyd. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
Brian and Roger talked to former Mets pitching coach Rick Peterson about what really happened with the Scott Kazmir/Victor Zambrano trade, how pitchers like Noah Syndergaard and Steven Matz should handle their injuries, his thoughts on the physics of pitching, how humor and "reframing" pressure situations helped him reach the likes of Jason Isringhausen and Jim Abbott, his childhood ambitions, and more. The boys of Good Fundies also turned the METCON machine back on and brought back "Soup or Savior" to prematurely judge Tyler Pill. There was also a deep dive into the mailbag where they determined what Michael Conforto's "Judge's Chambers" equivalent would be called, if Rene Rivera and Wilmer Flores could beat a pile of dirt in a foot race, and more. Highlights from that segment included two very good Tommy Milone questions and some Beaumont, Texas trivia. You can read more about Rick Peterson at rickpetersonpitching.com. The book he wrote with Judd Hoekstra, "Crunch Time: How to Be Your Best When It Matters Most", is available at Amazon.com and elsewhere. Thank you to Andrew Lowden for the music.
The Mets hit 3 HRs, but Tommy Milone allowed 7 ER in 1 1/3 innings to create too big of a deficit to overcome.
Manager Terry Collins reacts to the 5-4 loss. Tommy Milone explains his struggles in the 3rd inning and Lucas Duda discusses his recent struggles at the plate as well as his errant throw in that troublesome 3rd inning.

Ricky Nolasco might be headed to the DL, Tommy Milone is coming up to make a start, Oswaldo Arcia was activated from the DL and then optioned to AAA. The Twins are winning baseball games despite having the students from the local clown college filling in at DH while Kennys Vargas, Josmil Pinto, and now Oswaldo Arcia toil away in Rochester. We discuss all of that, plus take a look at the recent performances of Aaron Hicks and Eddie Rosario as they look to secure spots on the Twins roster for the rest of the year. And of course, an MLB draft preview and sharing our beers of the week.
This week we chat about the Twins' recent struggles, review our experiences from the Home Opener (including the returning of Torii Hunter), and try and decide what is going on with Tommy Milone. In the second half of the program we are joined by Seth Stohs from TwinsDaily.com to talk about the first week of Minor League baseball. And of course, beer, baseball, and the news.
