Craig Carton, formerly of WFAN, has a take on the Mariners and Bryce Miller that is truly awful. And Salk reacts to it. Afterwards, they re-air their conversation with Jeff Passan of ESPN to discuss the Mariners playoff run, the first two games of the ALCS, Jorge Polanco and more.
We react to AJ Hinch and Brent Rooker on MLB Network talking about the difficulties in facing the M's. Then, Alex Rodriguez joins the show to discuss why he's been so confident in the M's this season, who Jorge Polanco reminds him of, the most difficult part of closing out the ALCS, Julio Rodriguez's growth this year and whether he always felt Dan Wilson would become a manager or not.

The Milwaukee Brewers won the most games this season with their impressive and dynamic play on the field. However, when the Los Angeles Dodgers came to American Family Field two days ago, they arrived with two elite starting pitchers, hoping to shut down the Brew Crew and return to LA in the driver's seat. That is exactly what happened. On this episode of the Baseball Bar-B-Cast, Jake Mintz and Jordan Shusterman talk about the incredible back-to-back pitching performances from Blake Snell in Game 1 and the complete-game shutout by Yoshinobu Yamamoto in Game 2 that has the Dodgers heading home with a 2-0 NLCS series lead. The guys discuss whether the Brewers can overcome the Dodgers' stellar rotation and force the series to return to Milwaukee before it's too late. Also on this episode, Jake and Jordan dive into the Seattle Mariners taking a 2-0 lead—also on the road—in the ALCS against the Toronto Blue Jays, with the help of some incredibly timely hitting from Jorge Polanco. They preview the upcoming Game 3 and 4 matchups to see if Shane Bieber and Max Scherzer can somehow stop the rolling Mariners from reaching their first World Series in franchise history. Later, the guys recap all the managerial and personnel shifts from around the league.1:54 - The Opener: Dodgers go up 2-021:05 - LA's pitching is the difference26:23 - Mariners take 2-0 lead34:22 - Blue Jays' disappointing offense43:27 - Around The League: Managerial shifts Subscribe to Baseball Bar-B-Cast on your favorite podcast app:

On Tuesday's Daily Puck Drop, Jason “Puck” Puckett is under the weather to start Tuesday's show, but is pushing through because the Mariners have moved one step closer to the World Series with a game two win at Toronto. So many heroes for game two, but the postseason storyline continues to be Jorge Polanco and his 2025 turnaround. The bullpen was fantastic again being led by Eduard Bazardo! The show pivots to college football as John Canzano from JohnCanzano.comjoins the show to chat about all the recent firings in college football with James Franklin out at Penn State and Trent Bray let go at Oregon State. College football is losing its patience. Could former Cougs head coach Nick Rolovich be the leading candidate at Oregon State? Also, how close is the BIG 10 to private equity and what does that mean? And, what did John learn from Oregon's loss to Indiana and Washington State's near upset of Ole Miss?Danny Kelly of The Ringer pays Puck a visit to chat about the unbelievable season from Jaxon Smith-Njgiba, another Seahawks road win and Puck proposes a radical idea. Who is currently the best team in the NFL and why is the Seahawks running game struggling. Jim Duquette, MLB Network Radio is on his way to Seattle and joined Puck from the airport to discuss the first two games of the series and how surprised he is that Seattle is up 2-0. Jim and Puck chat about Seattle's pitching matchups that are left in the series and they pay a visit to the NLCS and Blake Snell's performance in game one. Puck wraps up the show with, “Hey, What the Puck!?” Tip of the cap to Jorge Polanco. Just an amazing turnaround from a year ago. On today's Daily Puck Drop, Jason “Puck” Puckett and the Go-2-Guy, Jim Moore open up the show discussing the Mariners gutsy game one win over Toronto in the ALCS. Bryce Miller was fantastic and Puck makes the case that it was the Mariners most impressive starting performance in playoff history. Puck and Jim have a good laugh on Blue Jays manager John Schneider's behalf for his comments on Cal Raleigh in the past and his decision to pull Kevin Gausman from the game, a tactical error. Puck and Jim touch on the Seahawks win, JSN's performance and the Cougars almost shock the world. Michael-Shawn Dugar, The Athletic joins Puck from Jacksonville to breakdown the Seahawks win over the Jags. The defensive line was the story for the Seahawks and they dominated the game. However, the game should not have been that close, and it's on the offense and specifically the running game to make sure that doesn't happen again. Back to the Mariners as Bill Krueger, host of the “Old School Baseball” podcast joins Puck to breakdown the Mariners game one win vs. the Blue Jays and why Bryce Miller was so effective and where is performance ranks in Mariners history. Cal Raleigh continues to dominate the Blue Jays. Jorge Polanco, with each passing game gives you professional at bats and Bill reacts to the Mariners decision to start Logan Gilbert and not Luis Castillo in game two. Puck wraps up with, “Hey, what the Puck!?” Patience is lost in sports, especially in college football. Headlines and 12th Man News with GREGG BELL (Tacoma News Tribune) How healthy are the Seahawks heading into what is now a pretty big game in Jacksonville? The defense really struggled last week against the Bucs; how are they adjusting this week and what has the offense been focused on? :30- We are counting down to Game 5 tonight and taking a look at some of the offensive decisions: Garver or Canzone… who do you think Bucky will choose? Last time we faced Skubal, Naylor hit 6th, but he had 3 hits in Game 4, do you move him up? :35- Where will Bucky go with his Fact or Fiction pick? :45- The energy is ramping up for Game 5 and we are still about 9 hours away! Can the Mariners bats get it done and what is Dan's plan for the pitching staff? :30- ABCs of the Mariners - S is for Speier who has been such a factor already this series (or maybe it's just the 5th inning that's been a factor), do you have faith in him coming in from the pen tonight? - T is for Tarik poison and it's called Polanco; can Jorge come through against Skubal again tonight? - U is for unconventional; be prepared for anything from this pitching staff tonight as Dan Wilson pulls out all the stops in Game 5. :45- It's our no cliché keys to a… Mariners victory! RUNDOWN Are Seattle sports are even fun anymore? Six hours “chewing my fingernails and losing hair.” Mitch and Scott argue about what “fun” in fandom really means, roast Matt Brash for his walk-filled chaos, and marvel at the weirdness of Seattle beating Tarik Skubal yet again. Mitch welcomes Brady Farkas (Refuse to Lose Podcast) and Joe Doyle (Over-Slot / Future Stars Series) for a fiery Mariners No-Table as Seattle heads to Detroit tied 1–1. They rave over Jorge Polanco's two-homer night off Cy Young favorite Tarik Skubal and the team's resilience, then dissect Dan Wilson's bullpen management in Game 1, Bryce Miller's usage, and the decision to start George Kirby. The group debates Matt Brash's shaky late-inning trust, Julio Rodriguez's base-running and clutch turnaround, and whether the Tigers or Mariners now hold the upper hand as the ALDS resumes. Mitch welcomes Brady Henderson (ESPN Seahawks Insider) and Jacson Bevens (Cigar Thoughts) for a heated Seahawks No-Table after Seattle's gut-wrenching 38–35 loss to Tampa Bay. The trio debates how Mike Macdonald's defense—ranked among the NFL's best through two weeks—got completely schemed apart by Baker Mayfield. Mitch rips the lack of pressure from Byron Murphy and Leonard Williams, the blown coverage across the secondary, and the failure to get a stop with the game on the line. All agree: Sam Darnold looked spectacular, throwing four touchdowns and confirming his franchise-QB credentials even in defeat. CBS analyst Rick Neuheisel joins Mitch after an emotional weekend that saw his son Jerry Neuheisel call plays for UCLA in the upset win over Penn State. Rick describes watching from the CBS studio as his phone exploded with messages, reliving the moment as both a broadcaster and a dad. He shares the behind-the-scenes timeline of Jerry being handed play-calling duties, his pride in how the Bruins responded, and the joy of seeing his family's work pay off. From there, the conversation turns to the broader college-football landscape — Penn State and Texas now facing uphill climbs to the playoff, Notre Dame's renewed path, the Huskies' comeback win in Maryland, Florida's bounce-back under Billy Napier, and previewing the week ahead with Oregon–Indiana on CBS. On today's Daily Puck Drop, Jason “Puck” Puckett starts off the show joined by the Go-2-Guy, Jim Moore from He-Shed in Bend, Oregon and they spend their time raving about the Mariners game two win against Detroit. Puck describes what the atmosphere was like inside the stadium and how electric the environment was. They chat about Jorge Polanco's two home run game, Julio's “clutch” factor, Dan Wilson's managerial moves and the reality that Seattle now has the advantage in the series. After Puck says goodbye to Jim, he says hello to Michael-Shawn Dugar from The Athletic to discuss the Seahawks loss to the Bucs. What is happening to Mike Macdonald's defense against good offenses? How much were injuries to blame for the loss? Sam Darnold continues to shine in the beginning part of the season. Mike and Puck also discuss the Seahawks weird obsession with Jalen Milroe and Devon Witherspoon is headed for an MRI and that's never good news. Back to baseball as Bill Krueger, host of the “Old School Baseball” podcast, and Puck discuss the Mariners game two win against Tarik Skubal and how they did it. Louis Castillo was just good enough and the bullpen did their job for the most part. So far, Julio and Cal are carrying the offense like the superstars they are but they'll need more from others if they want to advance. Logan Gilbert gets the ball in game three and Bill is supremely confident in how he will perform. Puck wraps up with, “Hey, what the Puck!?” Mariners fans delivered this weekend! What were some of the key moments from last night's win and the weekend? We discuss. :30- RYON HEALY is here to give us his breakdown of last night's Mariners win. Headlines and 12th Man News with GREGG BELL (Tacoma News Tribune) The Seahawks lost a shootout at home to the Buccaneers, so it begs the question; what has happened to this Seahawks defense? Did injuries play too big of a role in the loss? Sam Darnold and Baker Mayfield put on a show! :30- The Mariners spilt games 1 and 2 with Detroit and while the split didn't go how we thought it would, we will take the end result. Manager Dan Wilson was left to make a decision on Saturday and left George Kirby in the face Kerry Carpenter on his 3rd at-bat. That didn't go well for the Mariners, so when he faced the same situation on Sunday, he wasn't going to make the same mistake twice and it paid off. :35- Ashley makes her fact or fiction pick and she's been on a downward slide lately (thanks to a Push). Can she right the ship? :45- ABCs of the Mariners - H is for Homers: where would we be without Jorge Polanco's home runs? Thank goodness we brought that guy back! - I is for induce: - J is for Journey: the boys are going on a journey and heading to Detroit for Games 3 & 4 See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
What a weekend! Playoff baseball is stressful and we sure got our fair share of it with a Mariners game 1 loss in extra innings and a much-needed win in Game 2 to head to Detroit with the series even and game 3 on Tuesday. From the lows felt by many on Saturday night to the highest of highs on Sunday night, Seattle celebrated that Game 2 home win like they've never been there before and there's a good reason for that as it was just the 1st home playoff win in 24 years. :30- Mariners Morning After Cal and Julio came through in the bottom of the 8th after the Tigers tied it up at 2, but Jorge Polanco was the hero against Skubal, hitting 2 home runs off Detroit's Ace. Luis Castillo gave up only 1 hit in the game and Gabe Speier stepped up to finish the 5th and go two more innings for the Mariners who needed that after Saturday's extra innings loss. :45- Get out the sourdough, it's time for Cold Turkey Sandwich, a board of scores; our look at what went on in the NFL yesterday. The Mariners will know their opponent for the ALDS this afternoon and as the division series inches closer, it's time to gauge our confidence in the various aspects of this team. From the starting pitching to the bullpen, to the offense, where are we at? What are we the least confident in? :30- MIKE SANDO (The Athletic) joins the show ahead of tonight's Thursday Night Football game between the Rams and 49ers. Have the Niners injuries finally caught up to them? Is the Seahawks and Bucs game one of the biggest of week 5? How impressive has Sam Darnold been? Is Mike concerned about the Ravens? The Cleveland Browns made a change at QB, will Dillon Gabriel be the answer? :45- We close out the Thursday show with one last thing. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
Dave and Lefko hear what Seahawks QB Sam Darnold had to say about the improvements the offense made between the first two games of the season during his press conference, they react to the biggest moments in Mariners close win over the Royals, including Luis Castillo’s performance and the improbable replay review, they look at what that win did for their path to the playoffs, and they break down what Jorge Polanco has brought to the Mariners offense this season.
It's Apple Cup time! Could this be the beginning of the end of the rivalry? Vegas (and Softy) think this will be a blowout and if these two programs keep moving in different directions, will the rivalry survive? Is it even a rivalry anymore? It's definitely not the same as it was. :30- Mariners Morning After- the Mariners got the series win in Kansas City on the heels of some good pitching, timely hits and a challenge we've never seen before. :45- It's time for our no cliché keys to victory as we get ready for the Seahawks to host the Saints on Sunday. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
We are witnessing a season to remember and the only proper way to celebrate it is to acknowledge Cal-O-Ween. The Mariners are playing good baseball, they aren't just winning on good pitching or high scoring offense, they're finding a way to do it all and if they can keep it up, they'll go far. Of course, the question remains, can they keep it up? No matter how well we've done over these last 10 games, we are still only a half game up on the Astros, so theirs is no room for error. :30- There's been a lot of chatter about the play of Demond Williams Jr and Jonah Coleman, but is it too early to start hyping up postseason awards for the Dawgs? The real test is still a week and a half away against Ohio State. :45- We close out this humpday with one last thing! See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
On this episode of Forks Down, Beau and Rick gush over the history that the Mariners have made over the last week. Jorge Polanco, Cal Raleigh, and the rest of the team helped power the M's to a 7-0 homestand. Can they keep up the momentum as they push to the playoffs? Find out their thoughts on this edition of Forks Down - A Mariners Podcast.
Brady is back on a Tuesday, talking about the major week - and the major opportunity - ahead for the Mariners. Brady is headed to Houston for the three-game series with the Astros, but what challenges do the Royals present before that series? We recap the 7-0 homestand and discuss how things we've talked about all year came circle, and we talk about why homestand was so special in general. We sure hope so! :30- ABCs of the Mariners - V is for Valuable: Cal will clearly be the MVP for the M's, but Jorge Polanco deserves some kind of award. - W is for Waiting: Harry Ford has spent a lot of time waiting and he's handled it very well. Coach Neuheisel joins us every Tuesday and we give you a chance to revisit some of his picks for week 3 in college football in case you missed it!
The Mariners did it again! It took extra innings for the 2nd night in a row, but the Mariners pulled off a 7-6 win over the Angels in the 12th inning to go none games back int AL West. Harry Ford answered the call and Sac Watch was successful as the M's walked it off, but they couldn't have done it without the bullpen who was called upon to carry a heavy load yet again. IN their 6 wins in a row, the M's bullpen has gone just under 31 innings and not allowed a single earned run. :30- Mariners Morning After Sir Harry Ford got his big league moment after walking it off in the 12th with a sac fly. Even Dave Valle was in on Sac Watch 2025! The Mariners now sit in first place in the AL West, but we can't forget what happened last time they were none games back… they've still got a lot of work to do. :45- No Cliché Keys to Victory- the Seahawks face the Steelers on Sunday and we give our keys to a Hawks' victory with no cliches allowed! Orrrr… if we do use a cliché, we at least have to explain it! See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

RUNDOWN Plenty of sports heartbreak — from the Dolphins' ongoing struggles to the Seahawks' gut-punch opener. But there is relief in the Mariners' explosive bats and the Huskies' video-game offense, before shifting gears to launch the annual Beat the Boys contest, presented by Fireside Home Solutions. Listeners get the scoop on how to re-register, this year's lineup of “the boys” (including a new addition, Jason Puckett), and the all-important first password. Along the way, the guys swap birthday trivia, share a Pink backstory you won't forget, and set the stage for a packed show of Seahawks, Mariners, and college football talk. Mitch and Hotshot dive into the Seahawks' frustrating Week 1 loss to the 49ers, where Sam Darnold's quiet debut and Riq Woolen's costly miscues overshadowed a defense that couldn't quite finish the job. They debate Mike Macdonald's decision to kick on a crucial 4th-and-1, the missing downfield threat without DK Metcalf, and whether Seattle's “smashmouth” identity is more talk than reality. Shifting gears, the guys celebrate the Mariners' offensive eruption — 28 runs over two games — that keeps them two games up in the Wild Card race with 19 left, 13 at home. Hope rises in Seattle, but fans have learned to brace for heartbreak. Mitch welcomes Brady Henderson and Jacson Bevens to dissect Seattle's 17–13 Week 1 loss to the 49ers. The defense largely held its ground, limiting San Francisco to 17 points, but the offense sputtered behind Sam Darnold and a conservative game plan. The panel debates Mike Macdonald's critical fourth-down decision, the ongoing frustrations with cornerback Riq Woolen, and the lack of offensive balance despite Jackson Smith-Njigba's breakout. Mitch sits down with Joe Doyle and Brady Farkas to break down a much-needed rebound weekend for the Mariners. With Julio Rodríguez heating up, a rotation trying to steady itself, and 13 of the final 19 games at home, the M's are still firmly in the postseason race. The crew debates Seattle's playoff odds, the outlook for Jorge Polanco's contract, and the development of young catcher Harry Ford. Plus, they preview crucial upcoming series against the Cardinals and Angels as the AL West chase tightens. Rick Neuheisel joins Mitch to recap an eventful Week 2 in college football, from South Florida's upset of Florida to Oregon's early dominance behind quarterback Dante Moore. The two dive into Florida's coaching hot seat, Jedd Fisch's future at Washington, and why Arch Manning's mechanics and rhythm remain under scrutiny as Texas gears up for the SEC gauntlet. Neuheisel also hands out “Chicken Caesar soft tacos” to standout players and duos across the country before making his Week 3 pick: Texas Tech to roll big over Oregon State. The Mariners lose again and Dan Wilson can't get fired up. This one can't be blamed on the offense, they showed grit and came through several times to repeatedly give the team the lead, but managerial questions arose with the bullpen moves. Is Dan Wilson capable of losing his sh**? Sometimes it's necessary and last night sure seemed like it was the time to lose it. :30- Mariners Morning After Cal, Julio and Jorge came through in a big 4th inning to give the Mariners the lead, but it was short-lived and Bryan Woo was pulled after giving up a home run to Junio Caminero, who continues to perform. :45- The Seahawks host the 49ers on Sunday in their 2025 debut.
