In Christian meditation, we are re-aligning ourselves vertically. We're remapping our horizontal realities with a vertical view/perspective. Enabling us to embody that vertical perspective replaces anxiety and tension with a calm confidence. If your podcast app is set to skip the silent sections, disable that in your podcast app for this podcast. Our brain is amazing. One of the amazing things about it that neurologists are only learning these past few years is how it is constantly changing its hardwiring to adapt to our behavior. What we see, what we say, the thoughts we allow ourselves to envision, repeated behaviors we do — is all creating new hardwiring in our brain. It's interesting that the new testament even says this in Romans 12:2 when Paul talks about how the renewing of our mind is what transforms our lives. And when we understand the imagery we see in the Bible like in the Psalms, it seems clear that one way we renew our minds is to imagine biblical realities as realities in our life. Christian meditation is a way for us to use our biblically guided imagination to see biblical realities with the eyes of our heart as Paul says in Ephesians 1:17. Acts 6:3 NIV …Full of the Spirit and wisdom. Wisdom: Understanding the complex realities of living inside God's universe. Understands the foolishness of the way people and culture try to create and live in an unreal universe. Understands how to apply the reality of who God is and what he promises in Jesus, to the challenges and opportunities in this Gen 3 world.  James 3:17 (ESV) But the wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, open to reason, full of mercy and good fruits, impartial and sincere. Acts 6:5 NIV …Full of faith and of the Holy Spirit. Faith: Not just believing the right things but remembering to believe what is true of God, and all he is for us in Jesus, in how we see and respond to each circumstance in our life. Having a calm confidence instead of an anxious presence. Acts 6:8 NIV …Full of God's grace and power. Grace: A humility and joy by knowing the riches of God's grace toward me and therefore a kind graciousness toward others. Power: God's power in overcoming evil in my own life and in helping others overcome evil in their lives. Who can you share this podcast with? This is the Audio-only version recorded for Sunday, December 11, 2022. It is also available in Video format through our YouTube channel. Click on the "Notes Icon" (the little image of a notepad) to get the sermon study notes for this week. During our Sunday worship service today, we will celebrate Communion with Jesus Christ through the bread and the cup. Persons in attendance today who have personally accepted Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior are invited to participate in this service, which will be led by our Pastor. Christians participating in our online service are also invited to participate at home and will want to be ready with the bread and cup (juice, wine or other red beverage). ORDER OF SERVICE: We will open our service by singing together (on-screen lyrics in the video recording). Listen to the message "Walk by Faith Not by Sight,” preached by Pastor Dave Marksbury from Genesis 13:1-18. This is message #46 in the sermon series, Genesis: Our Firm Foundation. Messages in the series are available in both video and audio-only recordings; visit our website for more information. After this message, sing again with our worship team. Join us in prayer, listen to the church announcements and a "One Year Bible Reading" update. Then join us as we partake of the Bread and Cup in Communion. We will conclude the service with a closing song.

Image - Part Seven: Gotta Have Faith, Faith, Faith. Today, Mike and a very sick Tim continue the conversation on Imaging, focusing on the words of Ephesians 2:8-10: "For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— not by works, so that no one can boast. For we are God's handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.” Previously, they established salvation as 'an embodied participation in the new heavens and new earth.' Today, the focus is on faith. How does it differ, scripturally, from the understanding most of us grew up with? What Faith is not: Not the opposite of evidence assessment Not a leap in the dark Not the opposite of works Not optimism or a positive mindset that makes us passive Not a profession of Faith Not good theology What is faith? Faith has these three elements: Mental affirmation/intellectual agreement: certain enough to yield Professed fealty to Jesus as Lord Enacted loyalty to the king, as in the obedience of faith Faith as Allegiance. Taking a look at the importance of the resurrection of Jesus Christ ----------------------- Salvation is a free gift, no maintenance, no earning of favor, and once given it cannot be taken away. Ephesians 4:30) "And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption." - - if we do grieve Him we just confess and we are cleansed. The Father doesn't disown the wayward child, but like the prodigal son the goodness of God leads us to repentance and cleansing. When did the prodigal son cease to be a son of the Father? Not by works, Not by righteous works, Not by deeds of the law, and Not by sight. But by Faith alone, through Grace alone, by Jesus Christ who is God alone. Titus 3:5 / Ephesians 2:8-9 / Galatians 2:16 / 2 Corinthians 5:7 / Romans 1:17 / Romans 6:14 / Hebrews 10:38 Romans 10:9-10) “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.” After believing and repenting you are sealed/saved, then because of your love for Christ you want to follow Him. Acts 10:43) “To him give all the prophets witness, that through his name whosoever believeth in him shall receive remission of sins.” Ephesians 1:13 and Ephesians 4:30 It's not because you have to but because you want to. Any idea of self merit affecting salvation in earning to gain, maintaining to keep, or self atonement for sins is heresy and the person is not saved. The same goes for believing that Baptism saves, forgives, or seals with the Spirit - it's still a belief in a form of righteous works that affects salvation - this is heresy too. It's all through Christ's merit on the Cross and His Resurrection, or else through attempting in your own merit you earn Hell. James 2 is talking to Christians already saved, and it's talking about charity and Christian behavior for promotion of the Faith, not maintenance of salvation. If it was talking about works for salvation, then Paul is a liar, James and Paul are butting heads, God wrote a contradiction in His Word and is then the author of confusion, and would then not be God. Correlating with the rest of Scripture shows there is literally no way one could make works for salvation on any level truly work with the layout of Scripture. Salvation would then not be by Grace as it says if works were involved. And this Salvation can never be lost or taken away - Romans 8:1 no condemnation unto those in Christ. Any sin after that brings chastisement, not disowning or a casting away. John 15:1-6 is paired with 1Cor 5:1-5 / Psalm 66:18 / Prov 28:9 / James 1:6-7 about God's discipline, and nowhere does it relate to losing salvation or having it being taken away. In addition: Hebrews 6:4-6 and 10:26 is speaking about the unsaved falling away (rejecting) enlightenment, the knowledge of , the taste of salvation - they had not yet taken hold. This does not relate to the saved giving up or losing salvation as many think. Losing Salvation, or it being taken away, given up - denotes a working to keep it. But it's not by works or righteous works, deeds of the law, or by sight. It's by Grace alone through Faith alone. By Grace are you saved through Faith - Not by works or self merit. Salvation is purely by grace through faith by belief alone - Eph 2:8-9 / Titus 3:5 / Gal 2:16 / Romans 10:9-10 / Acts 16:30-31 / Eph 1:7&13 / 1 John 5:13 / John 3:16 / John 3:3 / Mark 1:15

A Key To Overcome Inconsistency   Have you ever known you are supposed to doing a certain action but you still don't do it? Have you ever been inconsistent at something…are aware of it…but still choose not to do it?   I understand. I've been there before…many of times. Too many to count.   Why is it important? Consistency is required for lasting results. Without consistency…we can kiss our results goodbye.   How it manifests It shows up in every aspect of life Faith: Not spending time with God and the Word Family & Relationships: Not spending time with family and wife Health: Not working out Wealth: Not saving money Career: Not advancing in career or business   We often think this way to attempt to be more consistent… “I just need to work harder, focus more, and/or take it more serious” This turns into temporary motivation And ends up leading right back to where you started Now you become afraid to set a goal again because of fear of failure and lack of commitment and consistency   7 Reasons why we are inconsistent: Why are we inconsistent? Why do we lack commitment?   We fail to understand the cost of inconsistency. It costs us more than we think by not being consistent. The commitment to our goal doesn't cost us enough. The greater investment, the greater commitment. We don't understand our identity, and our gifts and talents. We were not made as inconsistent beings. But we will be more consistent with tasks that employ our God-given gifts and talents. Distraction: We allow ourselves to do things that don't optimize the efficiency of our time. We are typically consistent in things we enjoy doing or that bring us joy. And inconsistent toward things we are not excited about. Lack of clarity on what we want. Lack of clarity leads to doing tasks that are not congruent with what we really want. Low capacity: Our mindset doesn't allow us to operate at a higher capacity Pride & Selfishness: Trying to do it all on our own     What I've found is that consistency and commitment has nothing to do with working harder. It has everything to do with investment and cost.   “Your Level of Commitment and Consistency toward a goal is equal to the level of Investment or Cost of Inconsistency”     The way to accelerate results is to get help. Period! This costs you your pride and selfishness because you have to be willing to do things their way. The reason why you are consistent is because you've been attempting to do it your way this whole time…that's why it's not working.     It doesn't matter the goal…Commitment & Consistency is equal to investment of acceleration or cost of inconsistency Health: Money for personal trainer…or heartattack Marriage: Counseling…or potential divorce Career/Business: Money for leadership training…or fledgling business Finances: Money for financial expert/education…lack of wealth Faith: Costs you your pride and selfishness…or death   The reason investment works: We show up when we invest a lot of resources. We justify the cost when we invest. We look for the positive things in whatever we invest in. You cannot place a monetary gain on what happens from the investment   Things to do: Pay someone Make the investment an uncomfortable investment toward yourself so that you show up. Similar to the way I showed up for medical school because it was an investment of $200,000. This level of investment created consistency and commitment on my part Fast forward the end Think about all the consequences that will happen if you remain inconsistent. Play it forward. You can avoid those outcomes and lack of results by being consistent now.   God is proof and the perfect example of this idea. The reason he is so committed to us is because our salvation cost God the life of his son. Jesus is committed to us because our salvation cost him his life! Thank God!   If you need help, book a 1:1 Discovery Call with me at https://drbradmd.com   Talk to you soon, Dr. Brad

Let's be honest - if 2020 has been anything, it's been uncertain. Holding onto hope for the future takes bravery, perseverance, and most importantly… today's topic, COURAGE. Courage is simple. It's not something we have to learn or grow into, or something we only get in moments where we absolutely need it. It doesn't always have to be big and grand. Sure, it's in our lowest moments where courage shows it's beauty the most. But courage can also be soft-spoken. It's something we draw strength from in life's everyday battles - a strength we've had to uncover more than ever over the last year.
