Your Hope-Filled Perspective with Dr. Michelle Bengtson podcast
Episode Summary: Have you ever felt like life knocked you down so hard you weren’t sure you’d ever get back up again? Today’s guest, Greg J. Horn, knows that kind of pain firsthand. After losing three close friends to suicide and experiencing the devastating collapse of his own business, marriage, and home—all within 24 hours—Greg was left at rock bottom. But God met him there. From that place of brokenness, a new ministry was born: Hope is Here. Today on Your Hope-Filled Perspective, Greg shares how to move from fear to hope, how gratitude can transform our outlook, and how we can live each day with a renewed sense of purpose. Quotables from the episode: I lost my business, my home, and my marriage in about a 24-hour period and I’ll say it, I was hopeless. Honestly, my faith in Jesus is what really kept me alive during that season.” Fear, we see it, but so many times it’s not real. Even though I did feel fearful, I could stay hopeful as I read God’s Word and didn’t give in to my feelings of fear. Biblical hope is when you say, ‘God, even though I don’t see You working, and I don’t feel You working, I’m going to trust You because You are my source of hope.’ I can tell you now on the other side of it, 20 years later, that all things do work together.” No matter how hopeless it may look, no matter how hopeless it may feel, God truly will use all of it for His glory. As I leaned into Jesus, He slowly but surely started healing the broken pieces of my heart and my mind. You have to choose to be resilient, but with Jesus’ help you can do that. Instead of asking why so much, say, ‘God, what do You want me to learn from this, and how can I be a blessing to other people through it?’ God, through this process, gave me an acronym when I started Hope Is Here, the word HOPE: H-Hold On --everything can change in 24 hours. I mean, something can change for the better. Yes, it can change for the worse, just like my situation did, but just to simply hold on. know God may show up in a way that'll just blow your mind and give you hope, even though things seem hopeless at the time. O-Open up to at least one person--So many times the enemy lies to it and just says, you know, this is hopeless, you're never going to climb out of this situation. And I'm thankful that I was able to open up the others and tell them when I was hopeless and having suicidal thoughts. And that was just amazing the difference that made. Once again, Jesus modeled that when he asked Peter, James, and John, hey man, I've got this overwhelming situation. The existence of evil in a world made by a good God isn't all that hard to explain. But how can evil exist in a world where believers with even a modicum of belief are promised anything they ask for in prayer? Have you ever thought about why that is and what it says about our faith? "The moment you stop chasing control… you start experiencing peace." What if peace isn't something you find… but something you return to? In this eye-opening episode of SoulTalk, Kute Blackson challenges the way you've been chasing calm in a world built on noise, speed, and constant stimulation. Most people aren't truly at peace, they're distracted, overwhelmed, and disconnected from themselves. And the more they try to control life, the further peace seems to slip away. Kute reveals a powerful truth: peace isn't the absence of chaos; it's your ability to stay rooted within it. Through simple, practical shifts like breathing, slowing down, and observing your thoughts, you'll learn how to reconnect with the one place peace has always lived: within you. If life feels like "too much" lately, this episode will help you reset, refocus, and come back to center. Timestamps (00:00:58) – A question that stops you in your tracks: When did you last feel real peace? (00:04:08) – Why most people are living in constant low-grade anxiety (00:05:30) – The hidden habit that disconnects you every single morning (00:08:45) – The biggest lie about peace (and what it actually is) (00:14:02) – The shift: stop searching outside, start returning within (00:15:05) – The fastest way to calm your mind in the middle of chaos (00:30:41) – The truth about your thoughts and why they're exhausting you Questions I Ask Are you truly at peace… or just constantly distracted? Is your need for control actually creating more anxiety? When was the last time you fully experienced the present moment? What if the stress you feel isn't from life but from disconnection? Are you observing your thoughts… or being controlled by them? In This Episode, You'll Learn How to access peace immediately; no matter what's happening around you The subtle daily patterns that keep you stuck in stress and overwhelm A simple breathing reset that can shift your entire state in minutes How to create space between you and your thoughts (without fighting them) Why slowing down is the ultimate advantage in a fast, chaotic world Get in Touch: Create a life that is a masterpiece. On April Fools’ Day, when the internet is overflowing with fake news and bad jokes, one thing becomes painfully clear: people can’t tell truth from nonsense anymore. In this Small Town Soapbox, Darien cuts through the noise to challenge the culture of “gotcha” moments, viral hoaxes, and manufactured outrage. With humor and conviction, he makes the case for something radical these days: being real. Say what you mean. Mean what you say. And live by it. In a world full of fake, authenticity might be the most powerful rebellion left. Everywhere we look in our world there are so many tragedies it's easy to ask, "Where is God in all of this?" Does He even know about our suffering and, if He does, why doesn't He do more? These are the questions that cut right to the heart of our deepest doubts and struggles with religion and spirituality. But this is also where A Course in Miracles can help, because the Course offers a series of teachings that - when you put them together - provide an answer to this long-standing question that actually makes sense. In this deeply moving interview, Lorna Byrne joins Emilio Ortiz on Just Tap In Podcast to share what she has been shown about the unseen spiritual reality unfolding during times of global conflict. According to Lorna, millions of angels are actively entering war zones—not to escalate chaos, but to bring comfort, protection, and love to those experiencing unimaginable suffering. She describes witnessing angels holding souls, guiding the injured, and surrounding people in moments of fear with a presence most of us cannot see—but can feel. This episode offers a radically different perspective on what's happening in the world right now, revealing that even in the darkest environments, something deeply compassionate is at work.✦ Join the Deep Dive Membership | https://iamemilioortiz.com/the-deep-d...At its core, this conversation is about love—real, unconditional love—and the role humanity plays in restoring it on Earth. Lorna explains that we are not here to wait for change, but to become it through small, daily actions: compassion, forgiveness, empathy, and courage. She speaks about humanity's awakening, the activation of our spiritual gifts, and a future where peace is not just possible, but inevitable. This is a reminder that beyond the noise, beyond the fear, there is something much deeper unfolding—and we each have a part in it.___________________PODCAST CHAPTERS00:00 – Lorna Byrne Intro2:07 - Why We're Afraid to Love 4:16 - Do Angels Love Differently Than Humans?6:56 - A Vision of Humanity11:08 - How Do We Stay Pure in a World Full of Negativity?12:13 - Loving Your “Enemy” & Breaking Cycles of Hate14:22 - The Hidden Hope in Humanity Right Now16:43 - Angels Are Being Sent Into War Zones17:46 - What Would Angels Do in Human Form?24:25 - The Future: A Glimpse of Heaven on Earth26:54 - Mysterious Particles Awakening Human Consciousness29:35 - Humanity Is Evolving Faster Than Ever31:29 - Love Conquers Everything31:35 - The 7 Spiritual Gifts Within Every Human32:19 - Seeing Through the Eyes of the Soul35:45 - A Child Levitating Across the Street (Real Story)41:12 - The Abilities Humanity Hasn't Discovered Yet44:38 - How to Access Love From Your Soul Daily49:39 - Why Loving Yourself Changes Everything50:38 - “Will It Ever Stop?” — Humanity's Breaking Point51:55 - Has Lorna Ever Seen Her Own Soul?52:31 - What Angels Are Doing in War Zones Right Now58:42 - Sending “Unemployed Angels” to Help Others1:00:38 - Your Guardian Angel Is With You Right Now1:07:35 - What Is Humanity's True Purpose?1:10:42 - How Angels Quietly Guide Us Every Day1:14:15 - Lorna's Deepest Prayer for Humanity___________________Guest: Lorna Byrne | Messenger of the Angels ✦ Website | https://lornabyrne.com/✦ Instagram | / lornabyrneangels ✦ YouTube | @Lornabyrneangels ✦ Support the Sanctuary | https://lornabyrne.com/sanctuary/✦ About Lorna Byrne Foundation | https://lornabyrne.com/foundation/✦ Upcoming Events | https://lornabyrne.com/events/ Host: Emilio Ortiz✦ IG | / iamemilioortiz ✦ Subscribe to Channel | / emilioortiz Special Offerings to Support the Show:✦ Make a One-Time or Recurring Donation on PayPal
What does it look like to live by faith in a world full of pressure? In Hebrews 11:24-27, we see that Moses chose well. He refused false identities, chose costly obedience, valued what lasts, and persevered by faith. This message calls us to stop drifting with the world and start living with settled conviction before God. Moses shows us that faith is not passive. Faith refuses what is false, chooses what is right, values what lasts, and endures when obedience becomes costly.

"A Subject in a World Full of Objects" is a brief liaison (around St. Valentine's Day 1977) between a collection of European musical boxes and a slightly jaded gentleman archivist. The devices he is tasked with recording served as elegant salon entertainment for social occasions, aided musical democratisation and were vessels for cherished memories, and carry a huge weight of human stories within them.Wrangling a reel-to-reel tape deck and microphone, our archivist removes the collection from stasis one by one, noting their type, condition and the artisan or company that constructed them. His day is crowded by a rich litany of sounds - pieces of music punched on metal discs and cylinders, the creaking of wooden cases, reed combs, organ bellows, latches, hand-cranks, whistles, mechanical birds, traffic. He documents them phlegmatically in all their tinkling, jangling, hooting, chiming, clattering glory. The piece uses no sound sources other than the original recording - the instruments in joyous, discordant reanimation and wistful sentimentality juxtaposed by the reserved tones of a man impervious to their charms. I hope it is a whimsical tribute to the museum's collection, to the people who preserve it, and to our collective cultural fascination with nostalgia, music and mechanics.Musical boxes and cylinders reimagined by Emmy Lambert.———Part of the project A Century of Sounds, reimagining 100 sounds covering 100 years from the collections of the Pitt Rivers Museum at the University of Oxford. In this episode, Joseph and Paula are diving into one of the most discussed mental health topics of our time: ADHD — and the increasingly common question, “Do I have ADHD, or am I just overwhelmed?”With constant notifications, fast-paced routines, and pressure to stay plugged in, many of us struggle to focus. We break down what ADHD actually is, how it differs from everyday distraction, and why modern life makes concentration so challenging. We'll talk through symptoms, the diagnostic process, when it may be time to seek support, and the surprising ways ADHD shows up differently in children and adults.Paula shares her own ADHD experience, including what life looked like before her diagnosis, while Joseph walks us through eye-opening statistics and clinical definitions that help bring clarity to a confusing topic. We also explore situational distraction—the temporary, environment-based overstimulation so many people mistake for ADHD—and how to tell the difference. From tracking your personal patterns to understanding lifelong traits, we offer insight into when distraction might be something deeper. To help you manage focus in a busy world, we share practical tools anyone can use: environmental tweaks, body and mind practices, digital boundaries, the Pomodoro technique, and habits backed by Harvard Business Review research. You'll learn about energy patterns, active listening, meaningful breaks, and strategies for emotional regulation. At the heart of this episode is a simple truth: understanding your brain is an act of self-awareness, not weakness. When you recognize your limits, strengths, and patterns, you can work with your mind—not against it.Whether you live with ADHD, think you might, or just feel chronically distracted, this episode offers clarity, compassion, and actionable support to help you move through your days with more focus and ease.Resources used or mentioned in this episode: Adult ADHD: The Latest & Greatest Stats for 2025Data and Statistics on ADHD | Attention-Deficit / Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) | CDCThe Pomodoro Technique — Why it works & how to do it7 Habits to Stay Focused in a World Full of Distractions from the Harvard Business Review

Discernment is becoming harder to practice in a world saturated with constant noise and endless opinions. Ray, E.Z., Mark, and Oscar examine how digital overload, social media, and frictionless interactions have created a discipleship problem where believers are shaped more by algorithms than by Scripture. The guys explain that discernment is not just knowing right from wrong, but recognizing truth from almost truth, and that deception often works by dulling awe and distracting hearts from God's presence. They emphasize the need for genuine relationships, slow reading, and meditation on God's word as the antidote to shallow knowledge and spiritual confusion. The guys also warn that truth mixed with error can be more dangerous than outright lies, making daily engagement with Scripture essential. Ultimately, the guys call listeners to let Scripture become their filter, to learn the voice of the Shepherd, and to stay rooted in Christ amid a distracted and noisy age.Send us a textThanks for listening! Today we're putting The Tonearm's needle on violinist and composer Bryan Senti.Bryan Senti won a BAFTA for scoring the BBC series Mood. He's composed for films since 2015 and worked with artists like Regina Spektor and Mark Ronson. But his new album La Marea tells a different story—his father's story.La Marea takes Cuban migration and turns it into sound. His previous album, Manu, honored his Colombian mother through short violin pieces. This time, Bryan recorded with the Czech National Symphony Orchestra. The result mixes classical precision with Latin American folk traditions and ambient textures. He recorded it specifically for Dolby Atmos. 800 tracks of strings, all acoustic, creating what he calls the feeling of being adrift at sea.In this conversation, I talk with Bryan about rediscovering the violin as an adult, how techno influenced a string orchestra album, and what it means to honor family stories through music.(The musical excerpts heard in the interview are from Bryan Senti's album La Marea)–Dig DeeperVisit Bryan Senti at bryansenti.comFollow Bryan Senti on Instagram, Facebook, Bluesky, and YouTubePurchase Bryan Senti's La Marea from Bandcamp or Qobuz and listen on your streaming platform of choiceBryan Senti's previous album ManuDustin O'Halloran - composer and collaboratorFrancesco Donadello - mixer, Synecdoche Music ResearchJustin Moshkevich - co-producer, Igloo MusicSpencer Zahn - bassist, 'Quiet in a World Full of Noise'Noah Hoffeld - cellistRrose - techno artistCzech National Symphony OrchestraAndrea Franco - video directorDig into this episode's complete show notes at podcast.thetonearm.com–• Did you enjoy this episode? Economist George Economou joins us today to share why stocks and gold are soaring in the modern global market. He talks about his global outlook on markets amid rising economic and geopolitical uncertainty, AI-driven growth narratives, stock buybacks, and deep investor anxiety fueled by a multipolar world. We also chat on trade tensions, and escalating conflicts across the globe. He explained how falling interest rates continue to prop up U.S. and European stocks despite stretched valuations, why gold is surging as central banks and investors hedge geopolitical risk, and why tariffs are unlikely to succeed economically over the long run. We discuss... George Economou outlined his background as a Greece-based macroeconomist, financial consultant, academic, and economics educator. Rising tariffs, shifting trade policies, and the growing independence of BRICS nations are major sources of macro instability. Europe is particularly vulnerable, with echoes of pre-2008 risks despite strong headline equity performance. U.S. equity markets are being driven by AI-led profit growth, excess liquidity, and falling interest rates rather than pure fundamentals. European equity strength is largely attributed to corporate stock buybacks rather than underlying economic health. Falling interest rates globally were highlighted as a key driver pushing investors away from bonds and into equities. Gold prices were said to be surging due to geopolitical uncertainty and aggressive central bank accumulation, especially by BRICS nations. Geopolitical risks involving Russia–Ukraine, the Middle East, and China–Taiwan are central drivers of market anxiety. Tariffs are a political tool aimed at reshoring U.S. production, but one that economic theory suggests will be inefficient long term. AI investment is comparable to early smartphone adoption, requiring heavy upfront spending before productivity gains become visible. CEOs' frustration with AI returns is linked to poor implementation rather than a lack of long-term potential. Extremely high global equity valuations are attributed to investors avoiding bonds and real estate due to unattractive risk-reward dynamics. Sustained market valuations is questioned, with the warning that expensive assets eventually decline when buyers step away. Plastic is everywhere. In our homes, on our streets, in our oceans. But recent research suggests it's also inside us: in our blood, our organs, even our brain. So how concerned should we be? Today, Jonathan and Dr. Federica Amati are joined by longevity doctor and clinician Dr. Sabine Donnai to explore one critical question: what does plastic exposure mean for our long-term health? Dr. Donnai breaks down how microplastics travel from packaging, food, and air into our bloodstream, and why their size means they may cross biological barriers once thought impenetrable, including the blood-brain barrier. The conversation also looks at the broader health implications of plastic-associated chemicals like BPA, their potential links to hormone disruption, inflammation, and cardiovascular risk, and why avoiding them may be especially important for those living in urban areas. For listeners keen to take practical steps, this episode offers simple and empowering guidance. Dr. Donnai shares specific tools that can reduce your exposure without creating unnecessary fear or overwhelm. You'll also hear how diet plays a key role in supporting your body's natural detox processes and why a colourful, fibre-rich diet may help us all manage the modern plastic burden. If plastics are entering your brain and bloodstream, what does it mean for your future health? And how much control do we really have in a world built on plastic? Unwrap the truth about your food
