In this episode of the Man Within Podcast, Sathiya Sam delves into the complexities of Valentine's Day and its impact on men's emotional well-being. He argues that the holiday amplifies feelings of loneliness, insecurity, and disconnection, leading many men to turn to pornography as a coping mechanism. Sathiya explains that Valentine's Day serves as a magnifying glass for relational awareness, exposing what men desire but often lack in their lives. He emphasizes that porn is a temporary escape that ultimately leaves individuals feeling emptier, as it replaces genuine intimacy with a false sense of connection.

Journey Church Sunday Worship Gathering Audio - Bozeman, Montana

Bob Schwahn | Lead Pastor | February 8, 2026 Referenced Scripture: John 13:34-35, Ephesians 5:25, 1 Corinthians 3:16-17, Ephesians 3:4-6 Reflection Questions:1. Mission Statement: Together, we lead people in becoming All In followers of Jesus. — Do you believe that an ALL IN follower of Jesus must live out their faith TOGETHER with other believers? Why or why not? 2. Read John 13:34-35 — How would you describe the way Jesus has loved us? What adjectives would you use? How is it even possible for us to love other people in that same way? 3. Jesus said the defining characteristic of an ALL IN follower is seen in our love for one another. How would you evaluate your love for other followers? How would you evaluate other followers' love for you? 4. Can we love Jesus while at the same time not be actively loving His church (other followers)? Why or why not? 5. What makes it difficult for you to love other followers this way? What barriers do you need to overcome? What are some practical ways you could seek to overcome those barriers? 6. For us to be known and loved (and to love and know others) requires vulnerability. What makes vulnerability difficult for people? Difficult for you? How can we create environments that foster greater vulnerability? 7. Shame → Shame isn't just feeling bad about yourself; it's a deep fear that you are unloveable; that if people knew who you really were, they would reject you. 8. How can shame create a barrier to authentic loving relationships? How can we overcome shame? How can we help others overcome shame? 9. How might Sunday Gatherings be different if everyone showed up with a mindset to know and love other people? What is something practical you can do this week to approach our gatherings differently? 10. How could your small group grow in the ability to know and love one another? What's your next step? My college education feels like it was way back in the dark ages as it never mentioned the term "entrepreneur" or "personal operating system." Even though there were computer operating systems, the personal development and entrepreneurial emphasis and metaphor of a POS didn't start appearing in blogs and discussions until the early 2010's. Today, there comes a point in life and business—often at mid-career or halftime—when the question is no longer "Can I do this?" but "How do I want to keep doing this?" Many accomplished professionals find themselves exhausted—not because they lack ability, but because they are recreating systems over and over again. Every new project feels like starting from scratch. Every assistant needs a fresh explanation. Every post, email, or piece of content requires unnecessary mental effort. This is where a Personal Operating System (POS) becomes not just helpful—but essential. We take you through the steps for evaluating and/or creating your own POS. Hey Friends~  Today's conversation is unusual for this podcast, but an important one. Over half of marriages end in divorce, and about 30% of those become high-conflict - deeply impacting children. This week, I'm joined by Lisa Johnson, a high-conflict divorce coach, to unpack the often-misunderstood topic of coercive control. We talk about what it is, the red flags within relationships, how it shows up during divorce and custody battles. We also explore Jennifer's Law. We discuss how it recognizes the many non-physical forms of abuse. Lisa shares how children are victims, used as weapons in adult conflict, along with ways parents can begin rebuilding secure bonds after trauma. ⚠️ Listener Advisory: This episode covers sensitive material and is intended for a mature audience. Parents should use discretion with younger listeners.  I still hope you TUNE IN!  Because understanding coercive control could make a life-changing difference for you or someone you love. Always cheering you on!  Dinalynn CONTACT the Host, Dinalynn:  hello@thelanguageofplay.com   ABOUT THE GUEST:   Lisa Johnson is the co-founder of Been There Got Out, a high conflict divorce strategist and certified domestic violence advocate who has successfully represented herself through scores of court appearances. Have you ever left a meeting with your accountant feeling… kind of dumb? Like you should know more, do more, or just be better with your money? Yeah, me too. It's this weird, quiet shame that so many of us carry, and we rarely talk about it.My guest today, Serena Shoup, a CPA and bookkeeping CEO, gets on her soapbox about this within the first five minutes—and I was HERE for it. She calls out the condescending, shaming B.S. that can happen in the financial industry and gives us all permission to expect better. (And yes, that includes firing people who make you feel like crap about your business. Mic drop.)This conversation is about so much more than just numbers. We get into Serena's incredible story of building her firm as a “side hustle to motherhood,” how she accidentally created a second business teaching other bookkeepers, and the market shifts she's seeing firsthand in her clients' financials. If you started your business around the 2020 online gold rush, you NEED to hear her insights on what's actually working now. This episode is a masterclass in stripping away the fear around your finances and learning to see your numbers not as a report card on your worth, but as a powerful tool to help you build a business—and a life—that you actually love. What You'll Learn in This Episode:The #1 reason you feel shame around your numbers (and why it might not be your fault). Why mixing business and personal funds is killing your clarity. How a $27 PDF pre-sold to 50 people launched a whole new business. What's really working in the post-2020 course market (from a CPA who sees the data).Using your P&L as a tool, not a report card, to build a business you actually love.>>CONNECT WITH SERENAYOUR NEXT STEPS

Hey Friends~  Are you a soothing presence for your kids?  According to today's guest, a soothing presence is someone who is okay when you are not okay.   Usually these are specific people. You can probably know who your person  is.  Who will be okay when you are not?   As parents we want to be a soothing presence for our children.  Fortunately, it is simply a skill to learn.  So, if you did not have that from your parents growing up, you can learn it now!   Our natural instincts are to want to make our kids feel better.  When you learn to be a soothing presence, you allow your child to experience and express what is happening without you being triggered by it.  Today's guest beautifully explains how this happens in plain language.   Always cheering you on!  Dinalynn CONTACT the Host, Dinalynn:  hello@thelanguageofplay.com Have a Question or Comment?  Leave a voice message!  https://castfeedback.com/play Book a ZOOM call to discuss working together:  https://calendly.com/hello-play/strategy-session    ABOUT THE GUEST:   Dr. Marcus is a highly respected figure in Clinical Psychology known for his expertise in improving the lives of individuals and families. In this message, Pastor Finu unpacks Romans 7:7–25 to show how the gospel reframes our struggle with sin. In a world that expects perfection or excuses failure, Paul admits he does what he hates—and that very fight proves he's alive in Christ. The law isn't the villain; it's the UV light exposing what was always there. This righteousness isn't self-powered—it's Christ-powered. The message confronts despair, disarms doubt, and invites us to stop hiding and start crying out. This sermon challenges both strugglers and pretenders to drop the performance, embrace the war as worship, and live in the freedom of grace that lifts us higher. Pastor Chris delivers a powerful, practical message on Romans 7:1-6, unpacking Paul's revolutionary claim: "You are not under law, but under grace." (Rom 6:14) Using the analogy of marriage and death, Paul shows how Christ's death becomes our death — freeing us from the law's condemnation and binding us to the risen Jesus in a new covenant of grace. Pastor Chris closes with a guided prayer over each fruit of the Spirit, inviting the Holy Spirit to highlight one area for growth. Whether you're wrestling with legalism, guilt, or wondering how to live free in Christ — this message will shift your perspective on grace, freedom, and transformation. Hey Friends~  Have you ever felt like your child is struggling, but not “enough” to qualify for help? They're bright, they're trying, but school still feels like a battle… What if the problem isn't your child… but the system?  For decades, schools have measured every kid against one “ideal learner” or “the norm.”   But what happens when your child's amazing brain learns differently? When your child struggles in school, the first instinct is often tutoring.  What if the issue isn't the lesson - it's the learning process itself?  Today, we're unpacking  what educational therapy is and how it can change that story. So, if you've ever thought, “I know my child can do it, but something's missing,” this conversation is for you! In this powerful sermon, Pastor Michael unpacks Romans 6:20-23, exploring the contrast between slavery to sin and freedom in Christ. Drawing from personal stories and cultural insights, he illustrates how the pursuit of self-directed "freedom" leads to bondage, alienation, and death, while allegiance to Christ brings true liberation, sanctification, and eternal life. Through the story of John Newton's transformation and the miracle at Cana, Pastor Michael shows that God's grace doesn't just reform us—it changes our very essence, creating holiness where none existed. Salvation is both a moment and a journey, offering hope for immediate change and ongoing growth. Join us to discover how God's free gift of grace can transform your life today. Drawing from Psalm 139:13 and Jeremiah 1:5, Pastor Finu reminds us that children are not accidents but divine assignments with a purpose from God. Parenting is about stewardship, not ownership, and it's our responsibility to shape the next generation for God's eternal purposes. Following the sermon, Dr. Dave Curry, a marriage and family expert with over 50 years of experience, joins Pastor Finu and Trisha Iype to answer practical parenting questions submitted by the Village Church community. In this message from the "Relationships Anonymous" series, Senior Pastor Finu addresses conflict in relationships, framing it as a discipleship and worship issue rather than just a relational challenge. Drawing from James 4:1 and Matthew 5:23-24, he emphasizes that conflicts stem from prideful desires and hinder worship, urging believers to pursue humility and reconciliation. A Q&A follows with Dr. Josh Cruz, a registered psychologist, who offers a practical framework for conflict resolution—aiming for unity, responding softly, staying open to influence, and repairing quickly. They answer questions on navigating opposing communication styles, rebuilding trust after betrayal, setting boundaries with in-laws, and managing financial conflicts, providing faith-based wisdom for fostering healthy relationships. 5 Sales Leadership Skills You Can’t Fake

Sales Gravy: Jeb Blount

Play Episode Listen Later Aug 28, 2025

Leadership is the single most important factor in a sales team's success. You can have talented reps, strong products, and a solid sales process, but without effective leadership, performance stalls. As Duff Tucker, Sales Trainer, puts it on this episode of the Sales Gravy Podcast: "You have to model the behaviors that you want your team to live out. When you model those, you get a lot of credibility. You have respect. You have influence.” In today's hyper-competitive sales environment, your team has choices. Top performers can work anywhere. Average reps will coast if you let them. But the teams that consistently crush quotas, retain top talent, and create cultures where everyone wants to win all have one thing in common: a leader who has mastered the fundamental skills that turn potential into performance. Here are five leadership skills every sales manager must master to drive their team to the next level.  1. Clear Communication: No Confusion, No Excuses Sales teams don't fail because of a lack of talent—they fail because of unclear expectations. Leadership starts with communication. If your reps don't know exactly what you expect, how you measure success, or where they're falling short, you're setting them up to miss the mark. Clarity means: Defining priorities: What activities matter most (calls, meetings, proposals) and why. Eliminating ambiguity: No mixed signals, no “read between the lines.” Giving feedback in real time: Don't wait for quarterly reviews to correct course. Practical tip: After every meeting, send a short recap of agreed actions and timelines. It reinforces expectations and removes excuses. Vague leadership creates vague results. 2. Goal Setting & Vision: Building Direction, Not Just Numbers A sales leader isn't just a scoreboard watcher. Your job is to give your team something bigger to aim at than just “hitting quota.” Without a clear vision, teams drift into reactive mode and lack initiative. People perform better when they're chasing a clear, meaningful vision.  Effective goal setting requires more than revenue targets. It's about: Tying team goals to organizational strategy. Breaking big objectives into manageable activity benchmarks. Painting a picture of what winning looks like so reps can see themselves in it. Practical tip: Start every month by walking your team through why their goals matter and how success impacts the company, the customer, and their own careers. When reps buy into the vision, they push harder to achieve it. 3. Coaching: From Boss to Builder Micromanagers kill momentum. Coaches create it. Leadership in sales means shifting from telling people what to do to building people who can do it themselves. Great sales coaching involves: Observation: Ride-alongs, call reviews, pipeline inspections. Targeted feedback: Specific, actionable, focused on behaviors, not personality. Development mindset: Every interaction is a teaching moment. Practical tip: Block weekly one-on-one coaching sessions that focus on skills and pipeline health. Ask questions that uncover roadblocks instead of delivering lectures. Consistently coached reps outperform those left to figure it out alone. 4. Adaptability: Leading Through Change Markets shift, customers evolve, and strategies that worked yesterday won't guarantee tomorrow's success. The best leaders view challenges as opportunities. Adaptability looks like: Adjusting sales strategies with confidence. Staying ahead of industry trends, not reacting late. Modeling resilience when things don't go according to plan. Practical tip: Hold monthly “market pulse” sessions where you and your team discuss shifts in buyer behavior, competitor activity, and emerging tools. This keeps your team agile and ready to move, rather than stuck waiting for direction. 5. Accountability & Recognition: The Performance Balance Leadership is about balance, not being a cheerleader or tyrant. The best sales managers enforce accountability while recognizing wins. Too much pressure without acknowledgment breeds burnout; too much recognition without accountability creates complacency. Accountability means measuring results, holding reps responsible, and addressing performance gaps immediately. Recognition means calling out progress, effort, and achievement in ways that inspire. Practical tip: Implement a simple framework: Inspect what you expect, and celebrate what you respect. Use weekly scorecards to track KPIs, then highlight one specific win for each rep in team meetings. This builds both discipline and morale. How These Leadership Skills Work Together Individually, each of these skills will make you a stronger manager. But when combined, they create a powerful leadership framework: Clear communication sets the direction. Goal setting gives your team purpose. Coaching builds their skills and confidence. Adaptability keeps them ahead of the curve. Accountability and recognition sustain performance. When sales leaders integrate these disciplines, they build teams that execute consistently and, even under pressure, perform at the highest level. Your Next Step as a Sales Leader Being a sales manager isn't about hitting your own number anymore. It's about multiplying results through your team. Your reps don't need a boss. They need a leader who communicates clearly, sets a compelling vision, coaches consistently, adapts with confidence, and balances accountability with recognition. Start small: Audit your leadership against these five skills. Where are you strong? Where are you slipping? Then pick one area to strengthen this quarter. Because these five sales leadership skills can't be faked. Either you live them out daily, or your team knows you're just managing, not leading. As a sales leader, one of your most powerful tools for boosting team performance is the strategic use of sales contests and incentives. In this micro-course, Jessica Stokes provides you with essential insights on how to design and implement effective sales competitions.
