Wally, at the age of 78, has completed 211 ultras, including 28 100-milers with his most recent one being in November of 2021! He's also completed 56 marathons with over 580 races under his belt. But the accomplishment he's most proud of is his racing streak of running at least one race every month since 1981! Join me as we learn more about what drives him and what he's learned over his 40 years of running!

Today, we speak with Sharon Hesseltine about her recovery journey. In addition to chairing our Peer-Led Steering Committee, Sharon is the President and CEO of Intentional Development Consulting & Training, an organization focused on promoting recovery from addiction. Sharon is passionate about reducing stigma associated with addiction and developing the capacity of communities, organizations, and individuals to better meet the needs of individuals with substance use disorders.

Like many of us, Cassandra Hesseltine was bewitched as a child by the magic she saw on the silver screen. Like fewer of us, Hesseltine has been spending her adult years working numerous jobs within the film industry. She currently heads the nonprofit Humboldt-Del Norte Film Commission, serving as a sherpa and concierge to producers and directors who need a little North Coast magic to tell their stories. In this Through The Eyes of Women episode, Hesseltine talks about the realities of her fantastical job, and what a film commission does for a community.

Wally Hesseltine is a 73 year-old ultradistance marathoner who, for the past 35 years, has run more than 500 races and 170 ultramarathons including six sub-30 hour finishes of the Western States 100, one of the premier endurance running races in the world.

My guest today is my friend Cameron Hesseltine (@camyacam). Cameron is a Celebrity Wardrobe Stylist and Fashion expert. She has styled a bunch of celebrities including: Jon Hamm (Mad Men), Kate Beckinsale (Click, Underworld, Total Recall), Chrissy Teigen (Model, TV Show Host), and Sarah Hyland (Modern Family). I'm sure that a lot of the guys out there are rolling your eyes at this point or possibly thinking about skipping this episode. BUT WAIT! DON'T LEAVE JUST YET. I know that fashion might not be your favorite thing to think about, but guys: We need to step our game up. Its not hard to dress well, and it doesn't take a lot of time or money. Cameron and I really get into some great practical stuff, and we had a ton of fun recording this. In this episode, Cameron shared her story of her upbringing, why she dropped out of college, her crazy stories of styling celebrities in LA and why its not as glamorous as it seems, and we talked men's fashion, the taboos surrounding it, and some do's and don'ts for the guys out there. I have been getting into men's fashion more and more over the past year and it was really fun to talk about all that stuff surrounding men's fashion with her. Cameron is also going to be starting her own podcast soon, so stay tuned for that.
