Dr Ibadoghlu is an economics professor who was a visiting professor at the London School of Economics and a leading figure in the opposition in Azerbaijan. In July 2023, he was arrested and held by Azerbaijan authorities while visiting family. He is facing up to 12 years in prison for the production, acquisition, or sale of counterfeit money by an organised group and allegedly possessing extremist material—charges he denies. “A polícia veio aqui em casa. Viram que tinha muito livro e até foi meio cômico. Perguntaram se ali tinha literatura subversiva. Minha tia disse: ‘Não, de jeito nenhum'. Eles pegam o telefone, ligam para alguma chefia: ‘Olha tem muito livro, mas isso deve estar tudo na cabeça do homem, e achamos que não vale a pena tirar'. Eles estavam com preguiça. Tinham que botar um caminhão para carregar tudo aquilo. O chefe concordou e eles levaram só um passaporte do meu pai. Perguntaram por mim. A minha tia disse que eu estava viajando e ficou por isso mesmo. Não me reconheceram”. Assim, Anita Prestes descreve a invasão da polícia em sua casa pouco depois do dia do golpe militar de 1964, quando tinha 26 anos. Filha de Luiz Carlos Prestes, ela estava no Rio estudando química e acompanhava o movimento estudantil. Historiadora e autora de livros sobre a trajetória de seu pai e a história brasileira no século 20, Anita rememora ao TUTAMÉIA aqueles dias tensos de sessenta anos atrás. Ali, naquele apartamento onde a polícia encontrou a biblioteca de Prestes, tinha havido uma reunião da comissão executiva do PCB no dia 31 de março. Fala Anita: “Decidiu-se que Prestes telefonasse para o brigadeiro Francisco Teixeira, que era membro do PCB e comandante da base aérea aqui do Rio de Janeiro. Prestes ligou para ele para ver se a aeronáutica poderia bombardear a coluna do Mourão que vinha para o Rio. Isso foi na manhã do dia 31. Se fosse feito isso, provavelmente seria desarticulado o golpe. Mas o brigadeiro Teixeira disse para o Prestes que todos os tenentes dele já tinham passado para o outro lado e que ele não podia fazer nada. Acho que isso foi uma desculpa que o brigadeiro deu para o Prestes, na medida em que ele não tinha recebido permissão do Jango para atacar a coluna do Mourão. O Mourão chegou ao Rio sem ter sido atacado”. Para Anita, o golpe de 64 “foi uma derrota muito séria das esquerdas em geral e de nós, os comunistas, em particular”. “As esquerdas e nós, também, o PCB, não preparam o movimento de massa. Não fizeram a organização popular. Tanto o movimento sindical quanto o estudantil era cupulista, basicamente de cúpula. Não tinha grande penetração nos setores populares. Não por acaso, na hora que o CGT decreta greve geral, no primeiro de abril, a greve não acontece”. “A direita se organizou muito bem, através dos militares, do Ibad, aquelas entidades que foram criadas e os Estados Unidos apoiando”. “13 de março de 64 foi um grande comício. Eu estive lá na Central do Brasil, mas não tinha uma organização por trás daquilo. Depois, veio a hora de a direita tentar derrubar o Jango. Menos de um mês depois, onde estava aquele povo todo? Não se mobilizou para apoiar o Jango”. Refletindo sobre essa história, ela fala sobre hoje: “Vejo com preocupação a possibilidade de o bolsonarismo, de tendências fascistas voltarem ao governo em 2026. Existe risco forte. É preciso organizar os setores populares para apoiarem o Lula na luta contra o fascismo”. O depoimento de Anita Prestes, gravado em cinco de fevereiro de 2024, integra uma série de entrevistas sobre o golpe militar de 1964, que está completando sessenta anos.
