En diálogo con Radio 5, Mariano Hernández, DT de Ferro de Pico, analizó el panorama actual del equipo en la Liga Federal, valorando la dedicación de los deportistas y el acompañamiento constante de la comunidad y del Estado, pilares fundamentales para sortear los desafíos presupuestarios y logísticos de la competencia.

En diálogo con Radio 5, Mariano Hernández, DT de Ferro de Pico, analizó el panorama actual del equipo en la Liga Federal, destacando la importancia de la dedicación, el esfuerzo colectivo y el constante acompañamiento de la comunidad, pilares fundamentales para sortear los desafíos logísticos y deportivos en esta etapa decisiva del torneo.

Foi na adolescência que ela descobriu os esportes. Mergulhou de cabeça no handebol e no basquete. Durante alguns anos, também se dedicou à dança e chegou a considerar seguir carreira como bailarina. Em 1998, mudou-se para Salvador para cursar a faculdade, afastando-se da vida esportiva. Anos mais tarde, em 2013, o jornalismo a levaria ao Rio de Janeiro, onde os esportes ao ar livre passaram a ocupar mais espaço em sua rotina. Em dezembro de 2020, em plena pandemia, decidiu ingressar no triathlon, mesmo sem saber nadar e praticamente sem experiência sobre uma bicicleta. A estreia aconteceu em 2021, no Capixaba de Ferro. Uma síncope durante o ciclismo, porém, impediu que completasse a prova. Já no ano seguinte, concluiu seu primeiro Ironman 70.3, no Rio de Janeiro. Em 2023, participou do seu primeiro Ironman, em Florianópolis, e conquistou uma vaga para disputar o Mundial no Havaí. Em outubro, viveu alguns dos momentos mais marcantes da sua trajetória esportiva ao alinhar na largada do Campeonato Mundial de Ironman. Voltou ao Ironman Brasil em 2025 já pensando em um objetivo ainda mais ousado: disputar uma prova nas distâncias do Ultraman, o UB515. Reuniu uma equipe de apoio formada exclusivamente por mulheres e partiu para uma experiência tão transformadora quanto enriquecedora: completar os 515 quilômetros da competição. Then we wind back through the week for our four biggest headlines: a new crew for Artemis III, JWST's salty 'Pink Planet' discovery, an update on the daring Swift Observatory rescue mission, and China's Tianwen-2 closing in on its target asteroid.   Story 1: A Kilonova's Fingerprint, Found in a 1976 Ocean Rock •       A rock sample dredged from the Pacific seafloor in 1976 has been found to contain a few hundred atoms of plutonium radioisotopes. •       The plutonium originated from a kilonova — a collision between two neutron stars — that occurred over 100 million years ago. •       Stellar debris from the merger settled to Earth and was slowly incorporated into a ferromanganese crust on the ocean floor. •       Isotope ratios provide the strongest physical clues yet to what created the elements and roughly when the merger occurred. •       Study published 18 June 2026.   Story 2: Ariane 6 Smashes Its Own Heaviest-Payload Record •       On 17 June 2026, an Ariane 64 rocket launched 36 Amazon Leo satellites from French Guiana (mission VA269 / LE-03). •       First flight of new P160C solid boosters — about a metre longer than the previous P120C, holding up to 156 tonnes of propellant each. •       Boosters deliver roughly a 10% performance increase, raising Ariane 64's LEO capacity to approximately 22 tonnes. •       The mission broke the 13-year record for heaviest payload ever launched by an Ariane rocket, previously held by the 2013 ATV 'Albert Einstein' resupply flight. •       Eighth Ariane 6 launch overall; 100th Amazon Leo satellite deployed by Arianespace.   Story 3: Artemis III Crew Revealed •       NASA announced the Artemis III crew on 9 June 2026 at Johnson Space Center: Commander Randy Bresnik, Pilot Luca Parmitano (ESA), and Mission Specialists Frank Rubio and Andre Douglas, with Bob Hines as backup. •       The Artemis II crew (Wiseman, Glover, Koch, Hansen) symbolically passed their lunar baton to the new crew. •       Artemis III is a two-week test flight in low Earth orbit to test docking procedures between Orion and commercial landers from SpaceX and Blue Origin. •       Targeted for launch as early as late 2027, ahead of a planned lunar surface landing in 2028. •       Will be Andre Douglas's first spaceflight.   Story 4: JWST Cracks the 'Pink Planet' Mystery •       JWST has confirmed salt clouds in the atmosphere of GJ504b, the 'Pink Planet,' located 57 light-years away. •       First direct evidence of salt clouds on a cold substellar companion object, a phenomenon theorised 15 years ago. •       At approximately 550°F, GJ504b is the coldest companion object ever directly imaged. •       Its true nature remains uncertain — it may be a giant planet or a brown dwarf. •       Research led by a Northwestern University team.   Story 5: The Swift Rescue Mission Heads for the Pacific •       NASA's Neil Gehrels Swift Observatory (orbiting since 2004) faces premature reentry due to orbital decay accelerated by recent solar activity. •       Katalyst Space Technologies' LINK robotic servicing spacecraft will attempt to grapple and boost Swift to a safer ~600km orbit. •       LINK launches on a Northrop Grumman Pegasus XL rocket, carried by Stargazer, the last flying Lockheed L-1011 TriStar. •       Stargazer departed NASA Wallops Flight Facility on 18 June 2026, en route to Kwajalein Atoll via California and Hawai'i. •       Launch targeted for 27 June 2026; if successful, it will be the first capture of an unprepared US government satellite by a commercial vehicle.   Story 6: Tianwen-2 Closes In on Kamo'oalewa •       China's Tianwen-2 spacecraft, launched May 2025, completed orbital insertion at near-Earth asteroid Kamo'oalewa on 7 June 2026. •       Amateur radio trackers in Germany detected fine ion-engine course-correction burns between 11–14 June 2026. •       Rendezvous and sample collection are expected around 4 July 2026. •       Kamo'oalewa is a 40–100 metre quasi-satellite of Earth; its origin (possibly a lunar fragment) remains scientifically debated. •       After sample return, Tianwen-2 will travel on to rendezvous with comet 311P/PanSTARRS in 2035.Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/astronomy-daily-space-news-updates--5648921/support.Sponsor Details:Ensure your online privacy by using NordVPN. Ela passou a infância e a adolescência dançando balé clássico, onde permaneceu por 14 anos, até que uma lesão mudou o rumo da sua trajetória. Durante uma viagem, rompeu os ligamentos do joelho enquanto esquiava, iniciando um processo de recuperação que a levaria a novos caminhos. A reabilitação aconteceu na academia, com foco em fortalecimento. Influenciada pelo irmão, passou a frequentar o ambiente com mais regularidade e iniciou na corrida. Em 2018, com a entrada dele no triathlon, veio o incentivo para que experimentasse a modalidade. No início, tentou resistir, mas acabou se dedicando também à natação. A experiência abriu espaço para um novo desafio. Com uma bicicleta emprestada, deu as primeiras pedaladas até ganhar confiança e integrar as três modalidades. Em 2019, estreou em um triathlon em Brasília, na distância short, e, pouco depois, experimentou a distância olímpica. Durante a pandemia, intensificou a rotina de treinos e passou a estabelecer desafios pessoais. Nadou 10 quilômetros no Lago Paranoá e pedalou 230 quilômetros até a Chapada dos Veadeiros, ampliando sua relação com o endurance. Em 2021, completou a prova de meio Ironman no Capixaba de Ferro em terceiro lugar. No ano seguinte, estreou no Ironman de Florianópolis. Em 2023, venceu sua categoria no Ironman do Arizona. Em 2024, alinhou para o seu segundo Ironman Brasil e no Ironman Barcelona, onde foi a primeira amadora entre as mulheres, feito que lhe garantiu a vaga para o Mundial de Kona. Em outubro de 2025, realizou o sonho de participar do Campeonato Mundial de Ironman no Havaí, na importante presença da sua família. Hard Fire Starting Fire Starting Under Real Conditions (Not YouTube Conditions) | Episode 608 You Think You Can Start a Fire—Until You Actually Try Everybody thinks they can start a fire. You've watched the videos. You've seen the ferro rod sparks. Maybe you've even messed around with a lighter and some dry leaves. And in your head, you're like, “Yeah, I got this.” Until you don't. Because real-world fire starting is not YouTube fire starting. YouTube Makes It Look Easy You watch survival channels and they make it look effortless. Hand drill, bow drill, ferro rod—boom, fire. What you don't see is the setup. Perfect tinder. Perfect conditions. Dry materials. Multiple takes. Editing out all the failures. I've tried hand drill fires multiple times. Never successfully done it. Got close once. Ember, bird's nest, little flame… then nothing. Gone. And that's the part people don't see. Fire starting is not guaranteed. Sometimes you have to earn it. Conditions Matter More Than Skill You can know exactly what you're doing and still fail. Humidity, damp wood, bad tinder—those things will shut you down fast. Tennessee isn't a rainforest, but it might as well be half the year with the humidity. I've been in situations with other experienced people, trying to start a fire in a burn barrel with a lighter… and still struggling. That should tell you something. It's not always about skill. Sometimes nature just says no. Laziness Will Bite You When you get comfortable with a skill, you start cutting corners. You stop building a proper fire structure.You don't prep your materials well enough.You just try to brute force it. Sometimes it works. And that's the problem. Because when it does work, it reinforces the laziness. So the next time, you do the same thing. Until one day… it doesn't work. And now you're stuck. At some point, you have to step back and say, “Alright, I'm not respecting the process.” Then you slow down. Build it right. Do it properly. Don't Be an Idiot With Fire Starters Let's talk about the dumb stuff. Gasoline. Don't. Even I know better than that—and that's saying something. Gasoline doesn't just burn. It explodes. There are way too many horror stories of people getting seriously hurt trying to start fires with it. There are better options. Charcoal starter fluid is safer. Alcohol works. Even simple things like vegetable oil soaked newspaper can burn long enough to get a fire going. That's actually one of my go-to methods for charcoal chimneys—newspaper with vegetable oil. Works almost every time. Long Burn Time Solves Most Problems If there's one trick that will massively increase your success rate, it's this: Use fire starters that burn longer. Cotton balls soaked in coconut oil or Vaseline.Paraffin-coated pads.Even simple oil-soaked materials. The longer something burns, the more time you have to get your fire established. And time is everything when conditions suck. I've had fire starters burn so long I didn't even need the whole thing. That's the advantage. Find the Right Wood (Or You're Screwed) Your materials matter. Standing deadwood is your best friend. Especially the inner core. If it's laying on the ground, there's a good chance it's soaked, rotted, or useless. If it's standing or leaning, you've got a much better shot at finding dry material inside. And if you can find cedar? Even better. Different woods behave differently. Knowing that gives you an edge. More Tools = Better Odds This is where gear actually matters. Not in a flashy way—but in a practical one. Ferro rods, char cloth, magnesium blocks—these all increase your chances. Just don't cheap out. A bad ferro rod that falls apart when you need it? That's useless. The goal isn't to rely on one method. It's to stack the odds in your favor. Because some days, you're going to need every advantage you can get. Sometimes You Have to Earn It There are days where fire just isn't easy. Where everything is damp. Where nothing wants to catch. And you either put in the effort… or you don't get a fire. That's reality. So don't train in perfect conditions. Don't rely on edited YouTube success. Go out and try it when it's harder. Because that's when it actually matters. AI Assisted Coding: How Spending 4x More on Code Quality Doubled Development Speed What happens when you combine nearly 30 years of engineering experience with AI-assisted coding? In this episode, Eduardo Ferro shares his experiments showing that AI doesn't replace good practices—it amplifies them. The result: doubled productivity while spending four times more on code quality. Vibe Coding vs Production-Grade AI Development "Vibe coding is flow-driven, curiosity-based way of building software with AI. It's less about meticulously reviewing each line of code, and more about letting the AI steer the process—perfect for quick experiments, side projects, MVPs, and prototypes."   Edu draws a clear distinction between vibe coding and production AI development. Vibe coding is exploration-focused, where you let AI drive while you learn and discover. Production AI coding is goal-focused, with careful planning, spec definition, and identification of edge cases before implementation. Both use small, safe steps and continuous conversation with the AI, but production code demands architectural thinking, security analysis, and sustainability practices. The key insight is that even vibe coding benefits from engineering discipline—as experiments grow, you need sustainable practices to maintain flexibility. How AI Doubled My Productivity "I was investing four times more in refactoring, cleanup, deleting code, introducing new tests, improving testability, and security analysis than in generating new features. And at the same time, globally, I think I more or less doubled my pace of work."   Edu's two-month experiment with production code revealed a counterintuitive finding: by spending 4x more time on code quality activities—refactoring, cleanup, test improvement, and security analysis—he actually doubled his overall delivery speed. The secret lies in fast feedback loops. With AI, you can implement a feature, run automated code review, analyze security, prioritize improvements, and iterate—all within an hour. What used to be a day's work happens in a single focused session, and the quality improvements compound over time. The Positive Spiral of Code Removal "We removed code, so we removed all the features that were not being used. And whenever I remove this code, the next step is to automatically try to see, okay, can I simplify the architecture."   One of the most powerful practices Edu discovered is using AI to accelerate code removal. By connecting product analytics to identify unused features, then using AI to quickly remove them, you trigger a positive spiral: removing code makes architecture changes easier, easier architecture changes enable faster feature development, which leads to more opportunities for simplification. This creates a self-reinforcing cycle that humans historically have been reluctant to pursue because removal was as expensive as creation. Preparing the System Before Introducing Change "What I want to generate is this new functionality—how should I change my system to make it super easy to introduce this one? It's not about making the change, it's about making the change easy."   Edu describes a practice that was previously too expensive: preparing the system before introducing changes. By analyzing architecture decision records, understanding the existing design, and adapting the codebase first, new features become trivial to implement. AI makes this preparation cheap enough to do routinely. The result is systems that evolve cleanly rather than accumulating technical debt with each new feature. AI as an Amplifier: The Double-Edged Sword "AI is an amplifier. People who already know how to develop software well will continue to develop it well and faster. People who did not know how to develop software well will probably get in trouble much faster than they would otherwise."   Edu's central metaphor is AI as an amplifier—it doesn't replace engineering judgment, it magnifies its presence or absence. Teams with strong practices will see accelerated improvement; teams without them will generate technical debt faster than ever.
