JAKOTAY OR CHANEWAY? Did we ever settle on the label for a Janeway-Chakotay relationship? Oh well, it hardly matters, since those two crazy kids are always on the fence about making a move. It all comes to a head in this time travel adventure from season 7 where a Janeway from just before the pilot finds herself becoming more and more attracted to a season 7 Chakotay even as he fills her in on the horrible fate that awaits her during her first command. Does this episode serve as a love letter to Star Trek: Voyager or something better? Will Bryan & Kristen TREK, MARRY, or KILL IT? The grades begin at (22:15).Don't forget! We're giving away a Blu ray box set of Star Trek: Discovery - The Complete Series. To enter, all you have to do is submit a poem about Discovery to our email: trekmarrykpod at gmail. We're accepting poems until 11:59pm PST on December 1, 2024. If we like your poem the best, we will send you the box set as a Thank You!
Anika and Liz are told to pack it all up and go home, Starfleet Command will be taking care of the podcasting from here on out. And we were absolutely going to obey, but fortunately some plot intervened. We're discussing Star Trek: Prodigy's "Ascension" part 1 and 2, including... Dal and Zero's arcs reach their respective climaxes The Voyager crew were also the Rogue Misfit Squadron The Doctor is at his best in a low-pressure environment, but he's programmed to think he thrives under pressure Dal speedruns his own arc in miniature and comes out the other side Zero: they're a hero, actually Flashbacks to "Such Sweet Sorrow" part 2 had Liz running to Moopsy for support Prodigy tells more overt queer stories than SNW, which is actually kind of alarming We care about shipping, not ships
Anika and Liz stumble through a series of alternate universes, including the one where we like "A Tribble Called Quest" and the one where we're good at podcasting and don't go off on long tangents about shipping. (That's a lie. That universe doesn't exist.) Liz has a hot take: she does not like "A Tribble Called Quest" and thinks it has an accidental forced-birth subtext The three Dad Genders: Girl Dad, Boy Dad, Scientist Dad Maybe we need to stop making tribble episodes MOVING ON TO THE EPISODE WE ACTUALLY LIKED The Jellico In Command Timeline Okona and Chakotay: the deadbeat dad and the dad who stepped up Did Captain Tuvix murder Janeway? Who would win in a fight between Mirror Janeway and Emperor Georgiou? Chakotay, formerly Hot Chakotay, is at his least attractive ever when he's reunited with Janeway, and that serves a purpose! The best-known Evil Overlord list, as reproduced on TV Tropes The Antimatter Pod Shipping News! Mirror Janeway and the search across the multiverse for the Chakotay with the brain cell Chakotay/Holo Janeway Zero/Maj'el Dal/Gwyn and the parallels with Janeway/Chakotay
When it doubt, Anika and Liz seek advice from a whale. Yes, we're talking about the Star Trek: Prodigy episode "Observer's Paradox"! Kathryn Janeway pours a shot of espresso into a larger cup of coffee and then gives it to a teenager; she should not be allowed to care for children Murf definitely knows everything about the USS Discovery After thirty years, Chakotay is finally linked to a real Indigenous nation: the Nicarao people of Central America If we're not meant to be shipping Janeway/Chakotay, then why does this episode exist? The Antimatter Pod Shipping News: Anika has a terrible new OTP We have questions about the Doctor's holonovels, but ALSO romance novels are an important force for marginalised groups getting their work in front of audiences When the adult in the room is a whale
Last April, Anika and Liz each bought a copy of the June 1999 issue of the official Star Trek magazine. Then we had ... some other things to podcast about. But we've finally opened it, and we're talking about... Remember when we'd pay US$7.99 -- or AU$15! -- for a magazine that contained a couple of interviews, some facts we already knew about the Klingon Empire and a Bird-of-Prey pinup? The Kate Mulgrew interview: She does not talk about her relationship with Jeri Ryan (but we do) None of the other captains of this era had to talk about how work took them away from their kids -- and Scott Bakula had a toddler when Enterprise started! (Hey, isn't it cool that now Anson Mount can request and get paternity leave, and no one's asking Sonequa Martin-Green how she balances motherhood with her career?) Putting the Janeway/Chakotay relationship on the backburner (and where they could end up in Prodigy -- that's us speculating, not Kate in 1999…) We try to picture Kate Mulgrew in the MCU and fail spectacularly Let's all take a moment to send bad vibes to Liz's grade 10 drama teacher Jason Alexander and the woke agenda 1999 NFTs Anika wants you to know that D. C. Fontana shipped Spock/Christine 25 years later, Tim Russ deserves an apology for the interview which closes the magazine

Another EP, Wild Ones is also available now. Her upcoming single, “Can't Behave,” written about women's rights in Texas, will be released March 31st. Come celebrate that release at a big party at Sagebrush in Austin, Texas, March 31st. Ruby's on the bill and all the proceeds from that event will go to sending women out of state to get medical care, in partnership with Fund Texas Choice. Here's a link to the official Troubadours on Trek Spotify Playlist, where you can hear all the featured songs from every episode in one playlist (songs will be added as episodes air on Patreon):-(Ruby forgot to choose a song pairing. The complement on a Constitution class starship like the Enterprise would have been typically four total shuttlecraft. So the “/7” designation is not in reference to the total number of shuttlecraft aboard, as I thought. The Janeway/Chakotay get stranded on a planet together episode is called “Resolutions” (VOY 2:25).The Janeway/Paris lizard babies episode is “Threshold” (VOY 2:15).
Prodigy comes in for an almost flawless mid-season finale! Anika and Liz take a good, long look at Zero, and the discuss: The sheer joy of watching a carefully planned story, competently told If Lower Decks and Picard are sequels to TNG, and Prodigy is a sequel to Voyager, will the Section 31 series be a sequel to DS9? (Liz has suggestions and they involve casting Alexander Siddig…) We talk a lot about how the Diviner is a child slaver, but he also has the regular kind of slaves AND THAT'S NOT BETTER! How the Diviner is like one particular Australian scam artist… We have some qualms about the Diviner's fate Protecting Rok-Tahk is SO important The Shipping News (Liz has a lot of Janeway/Chakotay feels)
Season 6 is finally here, and its first mission is to mop up the mess left by Season 5! The fallout from Equinox, Part I, threatens to tear apart the Janeway/Chakotay command superduo for the umpteenth time, while Seven fights for her life in the clutches of Evil Doctor! Can Ransom be redeemed? If not, can Ransom be murdered by Janeway? Will Voyager's bridge plaque stay on the damn wall this time? Is “Equinox, Part II” GOOD… or is it GARBAGE?
S01E06 The Cloud There’s coffee in that nebula! In this episode, we discover that Thad is a Janeway/Chakotay shipper, and Stuart is not.

What if Lt. Jae and Captain Picard had something on the side?It is no secret that Char and Tristan love to ship certain Star Trek characters. Janeway/Chakotay is by far their biggest obsession in this area. Tristan, however, had a secret headcanon that is now not so secret. It starts with a simple premise, what if Captain Jean-Luc Picard found an interest in our favorite extra Lt. Jae?A few episodes ago they gave her a backstory so why not give her a whirlwind romance? Tristan is back and they are wasting no time in the fictional romance department. What do you think of this odd pairing?
Coda. It's safe to say that Voyager fans generally have strong feelings about the third-season episode "Coda." Janeway/Chakotay shippers tend to embrace this episode for its tender and impassioned portrayal of the special bond between Commander Chakotay and Captain Janeway. And although "Coda" suffers from the Voyager reset-button effect (after an impressive number of Janeway death scenes!), "Coda" reveals the depth of affection that the Voyager crew share for their beloved captain. From old-fashioned resuscitation techniques to the contrasting portrayals of tenderness and suspense, hosts Suzanne Williamson, Zachary Fruhling, and Kay Shaw bare their souls about all things "Coda." Top Five Favorite Moments from Season Six. You know Char and Tristan love their top five lists. You know that they also love their multi-part series, dissected season by season. In this episode of To The Journey, they do both! Char and Tristan looked through everything in Voyager's sixth season, exploring all the nooks and crannies, and made a list of their top five moments. In a season with serious standouts such as "Tinker, Tenor, Doctor, Spy," it's not a matter of if an episode made their lists, but which moment. Just how predictable were Char and Tristan with their picks, anyway? Did something from "Fair Haven" make Tristan's list? How many Janeway/Chakotay moments did Char put on hers? The results may (or may not) surprise you. Tune in and find out. Top Five Janeway/Chakotay Moments. Behind a top-notch captain is always a top-notch first officer. Kirk and Spock shared a deep and intricate friendship that went far beyond duty. Picard and Riker always knew they could count on each other. Sisko and Kira used the differences in their points of view to see the bigger picture together and make well-rounded decisions. And Janeway had Chakotay, who was not just her first officer, but the person she eventually trusted most on the ship, developed a deep friendship with...and possibly more? The Voyager writers toyed with the idea of a Janeway/Chakotay romance when fans vocally took note of Mulgrew and Beltran's onscreen chemistry. Though the writers didn't fully go through with the idea, they gave the "J/Cers" moments that launched thousands of fanfics. In this episode of To The Journey, Char and Tristan list their top five Janeway/Chakotay relationshipper moments and try not to squee too much in the process. Resolutions Rewrite. Thousands of Voyager fans have written Janeway/Chakotay fanfic to rework “Resolutions” to their liking. And in this episode of To The Journey, Tristan and Char join in. Tristan goes for the Harlequin romance angle, while Char doesn’t stop at just one episode and instead writes a three-part epic. Listen on and find out what exactly Tristan and Char had Janeway and Chakotay do in their idealized visions of “Resolutions.” And, of course, we speak at length about our favorite primate.
