Welcome to the Molyneux-iverse. I wish I had made that joke in the episode itself but here we are. Phil and Kevin are taking on Fable: Edge of the World! It's written by Christie Golden, last seen on the show as the author of World of Warcraft: Rise of the Horde, which was... not great. Higher hopes for this one! Follow us at patreon.com/pixellitpod and hop into our Discord! Blue Sky: https://bsky.app/profile/pixellitpod.com Instagram: https://instagram.com/pixellitpod Book Synopsis It's been almost a decade since the events of Fable 3, when the Hero vanquished the threat across the sea and claimed his throne. As king he led Albion to an era of unprecedented peace and prosperity. But on the night of his wedding to his new queen, ominous word arrives: The darkness has returned. Beyond a harrowing mountain pass, the exotic desert country Samarkand has been overrun by shadowy forces. Within the walls of its capital city, a mysterious usurper known only as the Empress has seized control. To protect his realm, the king must lead his most trusted allies into a strange land unknown to outsiders. As they forge ahead along Samarkand's ancient Great Road, populated by undead terrors and fantastic creatures once believed to be the stuff of legend, the king is drawn ever closer to his greatest challenge yet. But soon Albion is engulfed in a war of its own. As the darkness spreads, town by town, a treacherous force has infiltrated the queen's circle. Now the fate of all that is good rests with a faint flicker of hope . . . that somewhere, somehow, heroes still do exist.

Zeitmarken spoilerfreier Teil 00:00:00 - Begrüßung 00:01:21 - It was so nice, we did it thrice? 00:04:29 - Erwartungen damals und heute 00:09:29 - Zentrale Stärke und Schwäche Spoilerteil 00:11:30 - Das typische The Clone Wars-Intro? 00:20:29 - Die abgelenkten Jedi und Vos' Motivation 00:28:30 - Hass als Antwort 00:38:05 - The Waiting Jedi 00:41:46 - Manipulation auf dem Silbertablett 00:50:05 - Wer braucht schon die Moral? 00:55:55 - POV-Change 01:02:08 - Handauflegen mit Meister Yoda 01:13:00 - Dooku und Ventress: Ziemlich beste Freunde? 01:15:57 - Fought and Lost 01:21:40 - Niemals geht man so ganz? This week at The Corner of Story and Game, I get to talk with James "Jim" Lowder - one of the earliest editors to work on the Dungeon and Dragons fiction line. In his time there he helped launch the careers of such amazing authors as Elaine Cunningham and Christie Golden. Jim is also an award-winning author himself - having worked on the Avatar Trilogy that helped usher the Forgotten Realms from 1st Edition D&D to 2nd Edition (is anyone else still bitter about their assassin character dying off-screen?) He is known for his work in fantasy, dark fantasy, and horror - with publications such as Prince of Lies and Knight of the Black Rose, short fiction for such anthologies as Shadows Over Baker Street and Genius Loci, RPG material for Call of Cthulhu and Dungeons & Dragons, and comic book scripts for Image, Moonstone, and DC. As an editor James Lowder has directed novel lines or series for both large and small publishing houses. He served as executive editor for Green Knight's Pendragon book line and as line editor for TSR's Forgotten Realms, Ravenloft, and Dark Sun fiction releases. He's helmed more than a dozen critically acclaimed anthologies, including the Chaosium release Madness on the Orient Express. Currently, he is the Executive Editor at Chaosium. Our conversation explores many aspects of Jim's career, his insights into the editing process, tips on submitting to shared IPs, and much more. We end up going very deep into creator rights and IP holder rights, and how to get the best worldbuilding and storytelling. This week on Beltway Banthas we discuss Inferno Squad, the new Star Wars book by Christie Golden. The story takes us inside a faction of Saw Gerrera's Partisans with Iden Versio, an undercover Imperial with the elite - Inferno Squad. We talk about political violence, legitimate forms of resistance and how it's not always if you fight that matters - but how you fight. This was a timely book to say the least. It took us to talking about groups like Antifa and how they play into the #resist movement. Our team hopes you enjoy this conversation. Email us or Tweet your thoughts about the episode. On this episode Chris, Ben, and Dominic are joined by Star Wars author Christie Golden to talk about her new book Star Wars: Dark Disciple.  Christie takes us behind the scenes of adapting the novel from eight unproduced episodes of Star Wars: The Clone Wars and shares some insights on its protagonists Asajj Ventress and Quinlan Vos.  Then Dominic and Chris share some stories from their trip to San Diego Comic Con, including the amazing Star Wars concert, the Hall H line  (complete with donuts from JJ Abrams), trying to buy First Order Stormtrooper action figures, "King of the Force," and so much more.  They also relive the big Hall H panel and break down what we learned about The Force Awakens.  Then they discuss the way the prequels are being treated in the marketing of the new films, does that matter, and how best for us prequel fans to respond.  All this and much more!
