It's Thursday, March 27th, A.D. 2025. This is The Worldview in 5 Minutes heard on 125 radio stations and at www.TheWorldview.com. I'm Adam McManus. (Adam@TheWorldview.com) By Jonathan Clark Afghanistan, India, Nigeria, and Vietnam deny religious liberty The United States Commission on International Religious Freedom released its annual report on Tuesday. The report advises the U.S. State Department to designate certain countries as Countries of Particular Concern for severe religious freedom violations. The commission recommended countries like Burma, China, North Korea, and Russia to remain on the list. It further recommended adding Afghanistan, India, Nigeria, and Vietnam. Nearly all the countries on the recommendation list are also on Open Doors' World Watch List of nations where it is most difficult to be a Christian. McKenna Wendt with International Christian Concern said, “[We are] particularly grateful for [the report's] focus on the persecution of our Christian brothers and sisters around the world.” Hebrews 13:3 says, “Remember the prisoners as if chained with them—those who are mistreated—since you yourselves are in the body also.” Christianity & Buddhism saw most losses from religious switching Pew Research released a new report on “religious switching” around the world. In many countries, about one out of five adults have left the religious group they grew up in. Christianity and Buddhism saw the most losses from this religious switching, while those with no religious affiliation increased. Religious switching was common across East Asia, Western Europe, North America, and South America. However, countries with large Christian populations, but with little religious switching, include Nigeria, Kenya, Ghana, the Philippines, Poland, and Hungary. 10,000 Dutch were killed by euthanasia Sadly, nearly 10,000 people were killed in the Netherlands last year through euthanasia. That's up 10% from 2023. Deaths involving psychological suffering were up 60%. Bruno Waterfield, reporting for The Times, said, “There is concern that growing numbers of suicidal people, especially young people, are asking for help to die.” Proverbs 12:10 says “The tender mercies of the wicked are cruel.” Trump's signs Executive Order on Election Integrity In the United States, President Donald Trump signed an Executive Order Tuesday entitled “Persevering and Protecting the Integrity of American Elections.” The order directs states to require proof of citizenship when people register to vote in federal elections. The order also stated, “Above all, elections must be honest and worthy of the public trust. That requires voting methods that produce a voter-verifiable paper record allowing voters to efficiently check their votes to protect against fraud or mistake.” Births increased in states with abortion bans The National Bureau of Economic Research released a report on how abortion bans have affected birth rates. About a dozen states passed near-total abortion bans since the overturning of Roe v. Wade in 2022. This increased the distance to the nearest abortion mill from 50 miles to 300 miles for the average woman in those states. Notably, births also increased by 2.8% in those states compared to what they were expected to be without the abortion ban. Only 16% of Christians believe in Trinity Dr. George Barna released his latest research on American Christianity. About two thirds of U.S. adults identify as Christians according to the report. However, only 16% of self-identified Christians believe in the existence and influence of each person of the Trinity. That number falls to 11% among the general population. People who read the Bible daily and attend church weekly were more likely to believe in God the Father, Jesus the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Dr. Barna noted, “These findings about America's ignorance or rejection of the Trinity are simply another in a long list of examples of people living without the truths and life principles of God shaping their lives.” In Matthew 28:19-20, Jesus said, “Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Partial solar eclipse this Saturday morning And finally, a partial solar eclipse is coming to parts of North America this week. The moon will pass between the sun and the Earth on Saturday morning for viewers in parts of the northeastern U.S. The sun and moon won't be perfectly aligned, so only part of the sun will be obscured. The spectacle will also be visible in eastern Canada, western Africa, and Europe. Close And that's The Worldview on this Thursday, March 27th, in the year of our Lord 2025. 【支持我们】如果喜欢这期节目并愿意支持我们:海外用户:patreon.com/disabledtalks海内用户:afdian.com/a/disabledtalks商务合作邮箱:disabled.talks.pod@gmail.com

In a quiet residential area of Brussels, tucked away among the modern and uniform facades of the Forest neighbourhood, sits a house that is giving birth to a unique project which could revolutionise our approach to the start and end of life. Here, expecting mothers and end-of-life patients live side by side, cared for respectively by midwives and volunteers. FRANCE 24's Alix Le Bourdon reports.

Life Dynamics-Mark Crutcher: Episode 43 Courts Ordering Euthanasia by Priests for Life
Mother Miriam Live - March 12th, 2025 Our Lady's sling: Rosary Crusade against the giant of Euthanasia - by Fr. Thomas Crean OP. During confession my priest told me that it was a formality. Have you heard of the medical term VSED (Voluntary Stopping of Eating and Drinking)? Here in Argentina the priests don't seem to like to use the confessional for confessions. My daughter is planning to move in with her boyfriend because "it's a common thing these days".

Send us a textJoin us for a discussion about options for euthanasia techniques and aftercare in small ruminants and other livestock species with Dr. Warren Hess, the assistant director of the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA)'s Division of Animal and Public Health and AVMA's Disaster Coordinator. In this episode, Dr. Hess discusses the results of a survey investigating veterinary knowledge surrounding safe carcass disposal after pentobarbital euthanasia. Dr. Hess highlights the concerns regarding pentobarbital use in livestock as it severely limits the disposal options that clients have. Animals that are euthanized using this very commonly used substance may not be used for rendering and burial may result in contamination of groundwater with this toxic compound. The AVMA and AASRP are working to expand veterinarians' understanding of alternative humane euthanasia techniques including gunshot or captive bolt (followed by secondary method) or magnesium sulfate injection. While intrathecal lidocane injection is not currently an approved method of euthanasia by AVMA, it is becoming more widely practiced by equine and food animal practitioners. The publication describing the survey which is the focus of today's episode can be found here:https://avmajournals.avma.org/view/journals/javma/261/11/javma.23.03.0161.xml If your company or organization would like to sponsor an episode or if you have questions about today's show, please email Office@AASRP.org

The Animal Protective Association cut ties with the St. Louis County animal shelter on Friday. The partnership's dissolution comes at a time of anxiety and suspicion among shelter volunteers, who were told they would need to reapply in order to continue volunteering at the facility. Animal advocates are also concerned after a Missouri Sunshine Law request revealed a proposal suggesting the use of mass euthanasia to lower the shelter's population. We talk about the shelter's operations with Post Dispatch reporter Kelsey Landis and County Health Director Kanika Cunningham.

In this episode of the Pooch Parenting Podcast, I'm tackling one of the most difficult and heart-wrenching topics for dog-loving families: when to consider behavioral euthanasia for a dog with a significant bite history. This is a decision no parent ever wants to face, and it's one filled with complex emotions, from love and guilt to grief and responsibility. As a dog behavior consultant who specializes in helping parents raising kids and dogs together, I understand how deeply we bond with our dogs and how agonizing it can be to weigh our love for the family dog, quality of life and the well-being and safety of our families. Today, I'll explore how to assess your situation, when it might be time to say goodbye, and how to support your children through this challenging time. Most importantly, I'll do it with empathy, compassion, and an understanding that love is at the heart of every decision you make.Thank you for listening! Welcome to "The Little Office" on Catholic Spirit Radio. This week, hosts and special guests revisit a vital discussion group originally held on X, formerly known as Twitter, to explore the profound subject titled "Never Kill Yourself," which addresses the serious issues of suicide and euthanasia. The episode delves into the complexities of Catholic teachings on the sanctity of life, bringing to light both the dogmatic positions of the Church and the pastoral care aspect that offers grace and hope. Guests include Drago Dimitrov, CEO and co-founder of the Holy Habits app, and others who share their perspectives on faith, mental health, and the role of community in supporting individuals facing such profound challenges. Join this compelling discussion as "The Little Office" not only underscores Church doctrines on life and death but also empowers listeners with a message of hope and the transformative power of prayer and community. This episode is a touching reminder of the inherent dignity in every life and the boundless mercy of God.

In this episode of In The Vet's Office, Dr. Josie is joined by Lap of Love co-founder, Dr. Mary Gardner. Dr. Josie and Dr. Mary discuss what owners can expect when taking care of pets with a terminal illness. And how our senior pets deserve the same quality of care as our young ones. Dr. Mary and Dr. Josie weigh the pros and cons of focusing on keeping our pets comfortable versus pursuing treatment with our sick pets. They then dive into all the different ways that we can assess quality of life and determine when it's the right time to euthanize. In this episode of the On The Rail Podcast, we explore the topic of Wobbler's Disease in horses with equine specialists Dr. John Janicek, Dr. Barrie Grant, and Dr. Steve Reed. The discussion covers the diagnosis, treatment, and misconceptions surrounding the disease, emphasizing the importance of complete diagnostics to differentiate Wobbler's from other neurological conditions like equine protozoal myeloencephalitis (EPM) and equine degenerative myeloencephalopathy (EDM). The experts explain the surgical intervention for Wobbler's and share their perspectives on the genetic predisposition to the disease, the impact of horse management practices, and the importance of early diagnosis. They also address the economic considerations and advocate for a more informed approach by owners and veterinarians to avoid premature euthanasia of horses with this condition. Natural death is an interesting process. The body knows how to do it but that doesn't mean it's easy to watch. With animals we often don't get to see the dying process because we often opt to relieve suffering and provide a "good death" via euthanasia. Witnessing my father in the dying process really got me to think about the contrast between how animals die and how humans do. And I started to wonder about some unintended consequences that can result when we are used to relieving suffering. In this episode I mention the "blue pamphlet" that hospice workers reference and recommend to family members of dying patients. It's called "Gone From My Sight: The Dying Experience" and if you or someone you know has a loved one that's dying, it might be very helpful. You can get it here.
As assisted suicide becomes more widely available, here come the death influencers. Is it wrong to monetize your suicide? Where does all this "normalization" of death end exactly? It's Wednesday, January 15th, A.D. 2025. This is The Worldview in 5 Minutes heard on 125 radio stations and at www.TheWorldview.com. I'm Adam McManus. (Adam@TheWorldview.com) By Jonathan Clark India releases imprisoned Christian pastor and wife after 20 months Praise God! The Christian Post reports officials in India released a pastor and his wife from prison at the end of last month. Pastor Ashok Yadav and his wife, Phoola, spent 20 months in prison under an anti-conversion law in the state of Uttar Pradesh. Authorities have used such anti-conversion laws to detain over 1,000 Christians across India. Over 400 Christian leaders recently sent a letter, appealing to the country's Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The letter noted, “Rising hate speech, especially from elected officials, has emboldened acts of violence against Christians. Mobs disrupt peaceful Christian gatherings and threaten carol singers with impunity.” According to Open Doors, India is the 11th most difficult country worldwide in which to be a Christian. Mega Hindu pilgrimage to draw 400 million Speaking of India, the country is hosting the largest religious gathering in the world starting this week. It is known as the Maha Kumbh Mela which means the festival of the sacred pitcher. (P-I-T-C-H-E-R) It is held every 12 years. The Hindu festival is expected to draw 400 million pilgrims to the city of Prayagraj in the state of Uttar Pradesh. People bathe at the intersection of multiple important rivers, including the Gagnes, which are considered sacred. The Indian Express notes people believe the bathing washes away their sins and gets them spiritual merit. But 1 Corinthians 6:11 says, “You were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.” 15,343 Canadians died in 2023 by euthanasia Canada released its fifth annual report on medical assistance in dying. The latest report found 15,343 people died in Canada under the Medical Assistance in Dying program in 2023. This brought the cumulative number of euthanasia deaths to 60,000. That's 4.7 percent of all Canadian deaths since the program began in 2016. Since then, the annual growth rate of such killings continues to rise at 15.8 percent. Trump prepared to cut trillions from federal budget Donald Trump's incoming presidential administration aims to cut trillions of dollars from the U.S. federal budget and abolish or consolidate many federal agencies. In light of that, Pew Research released a report on the federal workforce in the United States. The report noted the number of federal workers has grown over time. But their share of the civilian workforce has remained at about 1.5% of total civilian employment for a decade. The federal government employs 2.4 million people, not including the Postal Service and active-duty military personnel. That makes the federal government the largest employer in the U.S., outnumbering major companies like Walmart, McDonald's, and Amazon. Amazon and Metz ending their “woke” Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion programs Speaking of Amazon, both it and Meta are among major companies that are ending their Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion programs. Instead of the “woke” diversity, equity and inclusion programs, Meta decided instead to focus on building “the best teams with the most talented people.” Imagine that. In addition, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced the end of their so-called fact-checking program on their platforms like Facebook and Instagram. Inflation up 0.2% The Labor Department reports that U.S. wholesale inflation rose by 0.2 percent last month compared to November. This producer price index measures inflation before it reaches consumers. On an annual basis, producer prices rose 3.3% last month. The wholesale inflation was driven by rising energy prices, especially gasoline prices. YouVersion Bible App experienced 798,000 downloads on one day And finally, the YouVersion Bible App reports it had 798,000 downloads on Sunday, January 5. That's the largest number of installs on a single day for the app. Bobby Gruenewald, founder of YouVersion, told The Christian Post, “We tend to see a seasonal uptick in Bible engagement at the beginning of the year as people start new habits and are interested in reading the Bible for the first time. What's interesting to us is that this year's increase is even higher than this same time last year, and it's a trend we're seeing globally.” The Bible app experienced its largest increases in downloads in Africa, Asia, and the Middle East. For example, Bible app activity increased by 297 percent in Northern Africa, and it increased by 166 percent in the Middle East. In Acts 13:47, the Apostle Paul said, “For so the Lord has commanded us: 'I have set you as a light to the Gentiles, that you should be for salvation to the ends of the Earth.'” Close And that's The Worldview on this Wednesday, January 15th, in the year of our Lord 2025. Things have been pretty grim around here. I lost my cat Zu Zu and she was only two and a half and she left behind her brother Kenny and Kenny and I aren't doing so great. So. I'm going to play a story I made for Vermont Public about Erika Bruner, a veterinarian who specializes in end of live care for pets. She does at-home euthanasia…in barns, in basements, in fields. I didn't think I'd need her services so soon. But I did. She's remarkable and she made a very difficult day a little less difficult To learn more about Erika, click here.
Euthanasia is really just another attempt to “be our own gods”—it's the same temptation from the garden. But we're not God!
Send us a textNo one can choose when they are born, should they be able to decide when they die? Canada's MAID program (medical assistance in dying) is one of many Euthanasia-based medical practices worldwide, existing as a legal means of ending one's life in the case of those whose death is “reasonably foreseeable.” Is there mercy in ending someone's suffering, or are we in danger of treating people as a vet would treat the terminally ill family hound? With the rise in popularity of such a practice, and the loss of the sanctity of life in secular culture, how should Christians feel and respond to this? All of this and more on this week's episode!------------------------Questions, comments, or feedback? The Church offers us a consistent ethic of life from the moment of conception until death. In today's “Nugget Day,” we review the main takeaways from our readings about the fifth commandment. Fr. Mike reiterates that the Church's teachings on the value of human life stem from the truth that every human life is sacred; God wills each person for his own sake. Today's readings are Catechism paragraphs 2318-2330. This episode has been found to be in conformity with the Catechism by the Institute on the Catechism, under the Subcommittee on the Catechism, USCCB. For the complete reading plan, visit ascensionpress.com/ciy Please note: The Catechism of the Catholic Church contains adult themes that may not be suitable for children - parental discretion is advised.
