In this episode, Tracy DW explores the remarkable journey of Haiti's national football team as they qualify for the expanded 48-team 2026 World Cup, a significant milestone in the country's sporting history. With only one prior appearance in 1974, this achievement shines a light on the resilience of a nation that has faced political turmoil, economic challenges, and natural disasters. Tracy delves into Haiti's rich historical context, recounting its legacy and the struggles it has endured since. She also highlights the paradox of Haiti's current status as the poorest country in the Western Hemisphere despite its historical significance and contributions to global history. As the team gears up to compete against formidable opponents like Brazil and Morocco, Tracy reflects on the broader implications of this sporting success amidst ongoing socio-political challenges. This episode not only celebrates Haiti's football achievements but also invites listeners to consider the deeper narratives of identity, resilience, and hope that define the nation. (3) James Tabor analyzes the Protevangelium of James, a mid-second-century text that established the tradition of Mary's perpetual virginity and her upbringing as a "vestal-like" figure in the temple. He contrasts this theological portrait with the historical Jewish Mary, a matriarch who raised a large family of at least eight children. The segment also highlights Mary's visit to her relative Elizabeth, placing her at the birth of John the Baptist. Tabor notes that Mary's parents were likely property-owners in Sepphoris, presenting a family that was established and tight-knit rather than living in extreme poverty.

– The episode opens with a short introduction from Donald Trump praising “one of the most successful business leaders… Michael Dell” and his “really exciting announcement.” – Brett Butt follows with a nostalgic anecdote about growing up before the Internet and World Wide Web, and remembering early video games like Pac-Man, Asteroids, Wizard of War, Scrambled, and Defender. He jokes about wishing for something people now have. – Mike Dell then introduces himself (“Like Dell's World… That's me”) and frames the episode as covering two major topics: technology (how tech works and is used) and personal updates. He notes customer service issues he'd complained about previously have not improved. – Personal updates: – He reports attending multiple recent funerals: mentions having been to “three funerals in the last six months, or two,” and that he's about to go to another in Detroit that weekend. – He names specific losses: Todd Cochran, founder of Blubrry, who passed “late summer, early fall”; his wife's best friend Mary in Grand Haven, who died of lung problems and was younger than them; and his uncle Bill Busby, who turned eighty-eight at a recent party, helped start Motorola Semiconductors, was a US Air Force veteran (crew chief on a B-57 or B-58), and then passed away Monday morning. He says he and his nearly 98–99-year-old grandmother will be traveling to Detroit for that funeral. – Health update: Mike had a torn retina in his right eye, underwent emergency surgery, had to be face-down post-op while a bubble/oil was placed in the eye. At his second post-op checkup the doctor said things are looking good; vision in that eye is blurred by the oil bubble while the other eye is 20/20. He expects the oil to be removed and vision to clear later. He says this grounds him for about six weeks. – He mentions a lingering low-level cold over the past month. – Recent events and work: – He attended Military Creator Con in Arlington, Texas (several hundred participants, veterans/active military/spouses), where he saw Jamie Jay, Christopher Lochhead, Gordon Firemark (podcast lawyer), and others. The event ran long days and was busy but enjoyable. – At Blubrry he's been promoted to VP of Operations, overseeing teams and day-to-day work; Barry (another cofounder) is now CEO. He encourages podcasters to contact him for help, states he uses Blubrry hosting and the PowerPress plugin, and plugs Blubrry's services. – Technology and AI: – He discusses AI-generated content broadly: YouTube's proliferation of AI-narrated slideshow-style or AI-generated videos; his guilty pleasure of “AI Karen stories” on YouTube (which he knows are AI and mostly fiction). – He references a MacRumors article reporting YouTube will automatically label AI videos even if creators don't, and applauds the move, predicting many viewers will prefer non-AI content when labeled. – He raises concerns about AI in podcasting: AI-voiced podcasts and companies generating massive amounts of AI podcast content. He names a company, Inception PointAI, that reportedly generated a lot of AI podcast content and moved from Spreaker to Megaphone/Spotify; he says such AI content can hallucinate and produce factually untrue information, and that some AI podcasts present content as true. – He describes his own measured use of AI: he uses AI for transcripts and some artwork that he then tweaks, and he tried a cloned AI voice for one episode a few years ago but it didn't sound right. He notes telltale patterns of AI-written scripts and advises never to ask AI for its opinion. – He touches on scams: modern scam emails are harder to spot because language models clean up grammar; he warns about requests for immediate payment, iTunes/gift cards, or crypto as signs of scams. – Advertising and social media observations: – Criticizes YouTube mid-roll ads that interrupt videos, and the perceived decline in value of TV ads—locally seeing many online gambling ads in Michigan. – Observes AI activity on Facebook: AI agents entering groups to start conversations (sometimes inane or provocative) and AI-generated video shorts (e.g., airplanes doing impossible things). He dislikes Facebook's prompts to read more on Threads and says he doesn't want more social media accounts. He mentions being on LinkedIn, using X a little, and participating on Reddit, and says he plans to use a flip phone when he retires. YouTube Will Now Automatically Label AI Videos Even When Creators Don’t – Podcasting industry and advice: – Clarifies his use of “podcast” to mean generally audio (though he acknowledges podcasts can be video) and emphasizes that podcasting is a distribution method open to anyone. – Contrasts highly produced, broadcast-style podcasts (teams of producers and sound designers) with indie, authentic podcasts (one person talking into a microphone from a shed). He values indie authenticity and accessibility. – References a report by Tom Webster of Sounds Profitable noting people seek authentic-sounding podcast audio. He warns the industry is bifurcating between highly produced shows and indie creators. – Gives practical advice: podcasting is inexpensive and accessible (buy a microphone, record, compress to MP3, upload to hosting or WordPress to create an RSS feed). Suggests inexpensive cover art via Fiverr and mentions Blubrry hosting around fifteen dollars. Warns that podcasting generally won't replace a day job quickly—monetization takes time and consistency. – Lists three elements for podcast success: consistency, authenticity, and having content that is interesting/informative/compelling (he stumbles on phrasing but leaves the point authentic). He notes technology barriers are lower now; you don't have to be a geek. – Explains distribution parity: small indie shows can sit beside big shows like Joe Rogan in directories; one can succeed without becoming huge. His personal goal is to have a place to speak freely rather than chase large monetization. – Plans and format changes: – He says they will restart the Podcast Insider show with a revamped, more conversational format with two or three hosts discussing industry trends (e.g., trend toward video). – Discusses video: video has always been part of podcasting but is getting more prominent; video production is harder (lighting, appearance, editing). Blubrry is working on a video product to better support creators. – Mentions his short-form series “Cup of Traverse City” (daily, five minutes) which he took a month off from and tried to restart; he intends for it to be five days a week, five minutes, when resumed. – Reiterates he podcasts when it's fun and will take breaks when needed. – Closing: – He notes he has been talking for forty-five minutes, asks listeners if they're still subscribed and what they think about technology trends (is tech “going off the deep end” or is he being a curmudgeon?), invites feedback via email (mike at mike dell dot com), and signs off saying “Catch me later.”

* You can get the sermon note sheet at: https://family-bible-church.org/2026Messages/26May24.pdf * Last week, we considered Remembering Your Creator in Your Labor. As we ended that study looking at a proper Biblical Perspective of Labor, we considered how much Scripture adjures us to be diligent in our labor by not being lazy, but rather redeeming the time knowing that the days are evil. * Today, we continue that line of thought considering the redemption of time. * In "Bob's Philosophy of Life," a fulfilled Christian life is found through "The redemption of that which cannot be saved in order to invest in the redemption of that which can be saved by laying all that I am on the altar in order that YHWH may alter all that I am!" * Lord willing, today we will have a study in Contrasts considering Time v. Events; Positive v. Negative Events; Cyclical v. Linear views of time ... and then a consideration of how the Sovereignty of God is intricately woven into a proper Biblical understanding of time, events, and our seasons of life. * This message was presented by Bob Corbin on May 24, 2026 at Family Bible Church in Martinez, Georgia.

Older bodybuilding aesthetics favored smaller glutes; modern culture/influencers popularized bigger butts. (4:15) Contrasts natural training for glute development with cosmetic surgery trends (e.g., BBLs) and criticizes the extreme social media fitness culture. Vinnie warns strongly against performance-enhancing drugs, peptides, and SARMs. There have been multiple deaths among young pro bodybuilders because these substances are dangerous. (12:20) These are key glute-building compound exercises. You may want to view the YouTube video to see some of the items they discuss. (21:00) Back squats (can be free weights or Smith machine) Leg press Lunges or Bulgarian split squats Deadlifts Hip thrusts/glute bridges (machine or barbell) Genetics influence results, but progressive strength training can build more glute muscle over time. Training glutes twice per week (three times is "overkill"), spacing sessions out (e.g., Tue/Fri or Mon/Thu). Training Guidance Here is some program guidance: Choose 3 exercises each session from the main list and rotate the order each workout. Do a "to-failure" style session once per week. In the other weekly session, train at about 85% effort (higher reps, stop short of failure). Avoid going to failure in every workout to reduce the risk of injury and burnout. Keep these techniques in mind (28:00) Slight toe turnout is OK (about 10–12%), not extreme "ballet" turnout. Keep heels planted; if ankle/hip mobility is limited, elevate heels slightly until flexibility improves. For lunges, avoid letting the knee travel too far over the toes; aim for depth limited by hip flexor mobility while maintaining safer alignment. Avoid "tucking" the pelvis like a ballerina; think "sit back" with glutes engaged. Deadlift basics: push through heels, keep the bar close. It should be rubbing your quads, and hex bars can make the pattern easier to feel. Ideas for travel/mobility tips for long drives: stop often, move/stretch, consider using a yoga mat, and do a brief activity (jump rope, jumping jacks, etc.). (31:30) DOMS (delayed-onset muscle soreness) is microscopic muscle tears largely from eccentric (lowering/lengthening) contractions, not lactic acid. Reference Material: Day 5 The Right to Counsel and Identifications Understanding the Sixth Amendment's Role in Criminal Procedure: From Basics to ComplexitiesThis episode offers a deep yet approachable exploration of the Sixth Amendment — its historical roots, when it attaches, and the limits that define its scope. As criminal law continues to evolve, understanding how rights are protected during various phases of prosecution is essential for any legal observer. Most wrongful convictions happen because of a single fragile piece of evidence: eyewitness identification. Despite decades of scientific research revealing just how unreliable human memory is, the law still relies on outdated tests and bright-line rules that rubber-stamp misidentifications. If you're serious about mastering criminal procedure—and protecting the innocent—you need to understand the critical distinction between the Sixth Amendment's exposure-triggered right to counsel and the due process analysis used when the law is suggestive or unreliable. In this episode, we break down how and when the Sixth Amendment attaches, the critical importance of the Wade-Gilbert rule, and the pervasive danger of suggestive police procedures like live lineups and photo arrays. You'll discover why the “Biggers Factors” often mislead courts, how scientific advances in memory research expose their flaws, and why confidence is the worst indicator of truth. We'll also explore cutting-edge reforms—like double-blind administration and sequential lineups—that are transforming police practices, even if they're not yet part of constitutional minimums. Most importantly, you'll learn a step-by-step framework to attack eyewitness evidence on exams and in court: separate the Sixth Amendment timeline from due process scrutiny, analyze suggestiveness and reliability independently, and understand the deep vulnerabilities posed by emerging technologies like deepfakes. With wrongful convictions on the rise, this episode is essential listening for anyone preparing to fight for justice in a scientific age.Whether you're a law student, a future attorney, or a judge-in-the-making—this is your guide to navigating the intersection of law, memory, and technology, and safeguarding the rights that protect the innocent.Get ready to see criminal procedure in a whole new light—because real justice depends on it.Main insights:The evolution from the pay-to-play system to the constitutional right to counsel, highlighted by Gideon v. Wainwright. The critical significance of attachment — the moment the Sixth Amendment right to counsel comes into effect, often misunderstood but vital for exam success. The offense-specific limitation, explained through the Blockburger test, demonstrating how defenses are confined to charged crimes.Practical implications of the waiver of the right to counsel, emphasizing the importance of a voluntary, knowing, and intelligent waiver, especially post-2009 changes.Essential distinctions between pre-charge and post-charge procedures, with focus on the different applications of Fifth and Sixth Amendments. The Messiah Doctrine and its impact on undercover agents, jailhouse informants, and the deliberate elicitation of statements. The timeline for attachment and its critical role in analyzing police interrogations and lineup procedures, including problematic scenarios like warrantless arrests and informal interrogations. The offense-specific protection limits in lineups and identifications, sharp application of the Blockburger test, and the implications for uncharged but related crimes.Contrasts between the Wade-Gilbert rule, live lineups, and photo arrays, clarifying when counsel must be present and when identifications can be challenged as suggestive or unreliable. The Biggers Factors and their weaknesses in light of contemporary cognitive science, raising questions about reliability and reform strategies such as double-blind lineups, sequential procedures, and immediate conf

This is one of my favorite books over recent years. Sebastian Mallaby is the Paul A. Cocker Senior Fellow for International Economics at the Council of Foreign Relations and author of 6 bestselling books. THE INFINITY MACHINE tells the story of AI's progress over the past 15 years largely, but not exclusively, from Demis Hassabis as the protagonist and leader of DeepMind', with its 2010 mission statement to achieve superintelligence by 2030. It's a rich, informative, page turner. What We Discussed:—What is an Infinity Machine?—Influence of Claude Shannon's Information Theory and Douglas Hofstadter's Pulitzer Prize winning book Gödel, Escher, Bach—Origin of DeepMind in 2010. Prescient. Charter, business plan, included use of agents. How Demis Hassabis was made for the mission!—Contrasts with Sam Altman and the other AI leaders, the Oligopoly (cover of The Economist this week). For example, Nature papers vs white papers on company websites. —In March 2016, the same day when DeepMind's AlphaGo beat Lee Sedol, Hassabis says it's time to do protein folding (later known as AlphaFold).—Symbolic AI (historic, deductive, rule-based) vs Deep Learning (Toronto tribe) and Reinforcement Learning (Alberta tribe).—The Big Miss: DeepMind's lack of early recognition of the importance of transformer models (leading to ChatGPT), creating a big opening for OpenAI. And why was this missed? The Comeback Story. Is this happening again with coding (not in the book)?—The AI Arms Race and Hyperscaling—How the complex relationship between Google and DeepMind evolved —The Double Cross —With the dangers anticipated (parallels to Oppenheimer, Manhattan Project, and the atomic bomb), how to promote AI safety?—Is the major build up of data centers justified?Thank you Bob Fleischman, Jeanie, Ruben Max, FelonBroke America, Seitzinator ❌

How can music serve as both an anchor and a form of political resistance? What does it mean to create art in an age of "cognitive violence"? In this episode of Trust Me, I Know What I'm Doing, host Abhay Dandekar sits down with the legendary Vijay Iyer—MacArthur Fellow, Harvard professor, and one of the most influential pianists and composers of our time. Described as a "social conscience" and "multicultural gateway," Vijay shares a masterclass on the physical and emotional labor required to maintain a creative life over three decades. From the necessity of protecting time against the "colonization of memory" to the humbling experience of being an "eternal student," Vijay discusses the profound "transduction" that happens between an artist and their audience. Vijay's insights on "shared feeling," the mathematics of emotion, and the courage to remain vulnerable offer a roadmap for co-constructing a more intentional future.Key Topics Discussed:The Ritual of the Body: How the sensory, physical connection to an instrument serves as an anchor against modern information overload. The "Eternal Student" Mindset: Lessons from legends like Zakir Hussain on why mastery is a lifelong pursuit of learning.Music as Political Action: How instrumental compositions, like his tribute to Refaat Alareer, engage with the global zeitgeist. The Power of Collaboration: Building a sense of "home" and common cause through cross-cultural artistic partnerships.Mathematics vs. Feeling: Using "similarity relationships" and the physics of sound to evoke unquantifiable human emotions.Timestamps:00:00 Introduction03:22 Daily Routines and Creative Energy05:59 The Power of Performance and Humility10:03 Transduction in Music: Connecting with Audiences14:18 Exploring the Concept of 'We' in Music17:18 Unlearning as an Educator20:11 Sponsor Break: Travelopod and RuffRest21:23 Contrasts in Musical Expression22:41 Exploring Similarity in Music and Mathematics28:12 The Intersection of Politics and Music32:55 Identity and Belonging in a Global Context39:43 Music as a Space for Community and Home42:41 ConclusionShoutouts to to Gauri for turning 40, to the Artemis crew and Amit Kshatriya for a mission accomplished and job well done, and to artist Naresh Kumar Kumawat for his sculpted statue of Swami Vivekananda being unveiled in Seattle.  Lastly, our collective hearts will always be filled with the songs and music of unforgettable Asha Bhosle - Hari Om Sadgati!Support the Show: If you enjoyed this episode, please subscribe and leave a review on Apple or Spotify or wherever you podcast!TRUST ME I KNOW WHAT I'M DOING is proudly brought to you by TRAVELOPOD, with personalized travel support to help you explore the wonders of the world.  Start your next journey at vacation.travelopod.comThis episode is also sponsored by RuffRest® , the only dog bed you'll ever need.  Go to www.timberdog.com to learn more
