In this episode, we start the new year off with a bang with season 5 of the show! We start out with the latest news of the week with Pokemon TV app and the new Spy x Family movie. Then we hit up Anonymous Take, can you guess what anime the review is talking about? Then finally we get a look at the news shows we have this season with the spotlight of the week! Lots of anime talk in this episode so join us at the roundtable and discuss with us! ─────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────── Time Stamps: 5:19 - Latest news of the week Pokémon TV App Ends Service in March - 5:19 SPY×FAMILY Code: White Stays at #1 With 549.9 Million Yen Weekend - 6:18 ─────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────── N/A - Media Round-Up of the Week (It's the segment where we talk about anything we watched/read/or play that isn't from this current season's anime) ─────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────── 7:51 - Anonymous Take (In this segment, we scoured the land of MAL reviewers to find positive or negative reviews. We will read it outloud and we will see if the other co-hosts can guess what anime is based off of that review.) 8:51 - Plinchy: This Anime reviewer recommends this anime, giving it a 9/10 Just give this a try... People be judging everything quickly. They be like: well there is fan service then it must be a bad anime for horny teens. All i can say is If you can ignore the story because of the ecchi scenes, then why not ignore the fanservice for the story. This Anime is no masterpiece. But still it don't deserve this rating. There isn't many anime which caught me offguard and hit right in the feels like this. People these days getting into the hype bandwagon like komi-san and other shit. And sleeping on the good one's like this and ousama ranking. Reviewer's Rating: 9 A. Mushoku Tensei B. The Great Jahy Will Not Be Defeated! C. The World's Finest Assassin Gets Reincarnated in Another World as an Aristocrat D. Mieruko-chan ──────────────────────────────────────────────────────────── 13:37 - Lance: This anime is a complete piece of trash, in fact, I don't even know why TF am I writing a review for this piece of garbage. No matter how you try to look at at this anime, it's a trash. It is nothing more but a much of editing created by a bunch of idiots. Just like the people who gave this a 1, [the anime studio] never wanted to create a masterpiece, they wanted to create a piece of sh*t. And the anime tells us loud and clear:"We poured our heart in to make a piece of trash." 10/10 A. Inferno Cop B. Pop Team Epic C. Ghost Stories D. The Promised Neverland Season 2 ──────────────────────────────────────────────────────────── 16:59 - Peter: Okay. I'm not going to go so far as to call this anime bad but... Actually never mind it sucks. So "blank" is just bad. Aside from two or three people who caught my eye the characters suck. The storyline is pretty boring. The protagonist is the most annoying protagonist of any anime I have seen by far (worse than Shinji from Neon gay and that's saying something) and I don't know why they even bothered making this anime in the first place. Overall, you can watch it if you want? I mean... if you enjoyed it good for you ig? But like, NO. I don't recommend this anime at all. My suggestion, watch until you get to the "blank: scene and then burn your copy of the DVD, and if you watched it anywhere else get an exorcism to purify your house of the cringe that "Little Gay I mean Little Witch Academia." (this review was mostly a joke I'm not actually mad or triggered but it's not a good anime so don't watch it lol) Reviewer's Rating: 2 A. Kill la Kill B. Darling in the FranXX C. Little Witch Academia D. Delicious in Dungeon might seem out of left field for the studio that put out shows like Kill La Kill and Cyberpunk Edgerunners, but it's just something from the studio that also made Little Witch Academia. Cyberpunk: Edgerunners is the love child of Studio Trigger's animation reputation (see our previous episodes on Kill La Kill and Little Witch Academia) and video game studio CD PROJECT RED's longstanding success from The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and Cyberpunk: 2077, and also it's on Netflix so I guess it's a bit of a triangle. But even if you were disgusted by Kill La Kill's...showmanship...or disappointed with 2077's excessively buggy gameplay on launch, you will be blown away by the emotional throughlines and excellent worldbuilding provided by Cyberpunk: Edgerunners. It's mature, it's nuanced, it's incredibly faithful to the game and its setting, and it's a wonderful story overall, bolstered further by an excellent soundtrack and Trigger's high-quality animation. Content warning: SPOILERS, strong language.

This week we bring you a Studio Trigger Spotlight! It is their 10-year anniversary this year and they've got a bunch of stuff going on at conventions around the country, project announcements, and live drawings, so we thought we'd also celebrate here on OHC! And of course, it gives Dan an excuse to gush about how much he loves Trigger. So we thought we'd compare and contrast some of Trigger's high-octane action shows like Promare and Kill la Kill to some of their softer-moe shows like Space Patrol Luluco and Little Witch Academia. Children's Manga, or Kodomo-muke, are Japanese graphic novels targeted at children roughly from the age of learning to read up to and including tweens. Teen manga and up are then further broken down by gender. Children's manga are often distinguished by simpler stories and art, but many of the titles we discuss can be enjoyed by a wider variety of ages. We will focus on Chi's Sweet Home, Yotsuba&!, and Little Witch Academia. We will also give a brief over of three other titles: The Legend of Zelda, Splatoon, and Fluffy Fluffy Cinnamoroll.

Kill La Kill is Studio Trigger's magnum opus, the spiritual successor of Gurren Lagann and the precursor to Little Witch Academia, two shows we've already touched on on the Couch. It is an anime unlike any other anime the gang ever seen before - it breaks an almost uncountable number of traditional boundaries, anime tropes, and uh...PG-limits...while barraging the audience with top-tier music, incredible fight scenes, and raw hype from the minute Ryuko arrives in Honnouji Academy in episode 1. Love it or hate it, Kill La Kill is a legendary entry in the anime pantheon. Content warning: SPOILERS, strong language.
On this episode of magic system Monday we will discuss my takeaway from specific aspects of the magic system in Little Witch Academia, specifically as they pertain to how the series addresses limits. It wasn't the most unique thing every, but the goal isn't always to make something completely new. Often, the way we structure a thing itself if the determining factor of it's success.
Considering our last magical girl-related anime we discussed was Madoka Magica, studio Trigger's Little Witch Academia is a comparatively fun and exciting anime series that follows the bright and boisterous Akko, best girl Lotte, moody mushroom girl Sucy, and her various friends and professors as they get in trouble, get out of trouble, and unlock immense magical power. This show really has everything for everyone - even the best character ships for shipping trash like Iris! We all adore this show and want to emphasize that you might be fooled by this show's slice-of-life-esque appearance, which hides a rich story and well-written heroes and villains underneath. Content warning: SPOILERS, strong language.

The original Little Witch Academia shorts that were created for Anime Mirai were exceptional pieces of animation. Following it was a sequel movie and then an entire television series. With so much hype surrounding it during its release, does this TV series manage live up to the glory of its predecessor? This is a spoiler free review of Little Witch Academia TV. This was originally recorded in September 2017. The opening for this episode is the OP2 for Little Witch Academia TV called “Mind Conductor” by YURiKA. The closing for this episode is the ED2 for Little Witch Academia TV called “Toumei na Tsubasa” by Yuiko Ohara.

¿Qué me contursi?

Evan chats with David while catching a Tentacool. David and Evan are back for a regularly scheduled Ani-Gamers Podcast to talk about Metal Gear Solid (both 4 and 5), Mob Psycho 100, and Space Patrol Luluco, but more importantly: the whole world has gone crazy for Pokémon Go and our hosts are no exception. Topics include: sakuga/cours sympathizers, real-life Team Rocket, and Studio Trigger performance art. Also featuring David’s nephew making a lot of noise in the background. I did my best to mask a lot of the background noise, but David’s audio is still a little wonky sometimes. Otaku Movie Anatomy hosts review Little Witch Academia: The Enchanted Parade with special guest Laura Post! In Little Witch Academia: The Enchanted Parade, you can tell witch training is not going swimmingly for the young sorceresses Akko, Lotte, and Sucy—they face expulsion for screwing up one class too many, and their only way out is if they successfully organize their academy's annual parade through a nearby town. But when they stumble upon the momentous discovery that the objective of the parade is to humiliate witches and commemorate their past subjugation, Akko decides it is time for a change: It is time to show the world how fantastic modern witches truly are! However, with the other girls struggling to keep up with Akko's grandiose ambitions, and everything from mischievous boys to slumbering giants getting in their way, maybe pulling it off will require not only all the magical prowess the pupils of Luna Nova Magical Academy can muster, but also a miracle.
