Louisiana vs. Marshall College Football Pick Prediction 12/18/2021 by Tony T. Louisiana at Marshall—Must respect the Ragin Cajuns Sun Belt title game victory 24-16 to a good Appalachian St team. Defense has played well for Louisiana by holding five of their past six opponents to 17 or fewer points. Over their past three games Louisiana holding teams to 302 yards, 3.9 yards per rush along with 4.8 yards per pass attempt. Marshall defense in that period struggling against the pass by allowing 395 yards with 7.7 yards per pass attempt. In their Conference USA finale the Thundering Herd were pounded 53-21 defeat to Western Kentucky. This game site favors Louisiana as it is played in the New Orleans Superdome. Ragin Cajuns good running attack with 4.9 yards per rush and Marshall has failed to cover 8 of 10 against teams that running near five yards per attempt. Louisiana has a senior quarterback in Levi Lewis limited his interceptions to four this season and a threat to run. Play Louisiana -5.

Partsch explains why he thinks Napier, the receivers coach at Alabama while Steve Sarkisian was an analyst for the Tide in 2016, turned down interest from Auburn and South Carolina as a head-coaching candidate after Louisiana went 10-1 last year, including a season-opening, 31-14 victory at Iowa State. Partsch breaks down the Louisiana offense, starting with fifth-year "super senior" quarterback Levi Lewis (5-10, 190), whom Partsch says "makes good decisions and doesn't get you beat by making the big mistake" and who coaches turned loose more in the running game last season (when Lewis averaged 6.1 yards per carry). Louisiana's leading rushers from last season - Elijah Mitchell and Trey Ragas - are in the NFL now, so the Ragin' Cajuns are looking to sophomore Chris Smith (No. 21) and freshman Emani Bailey (No. 20) of Denton Ryan to carry the load in Louisiana's run-first attack. Louisiana has some big receivers, but Partsch says it's a mystery as to which one would be considered the go-to guy in the passing game, because Lewis spreads the ball around, including passes to the running backs. Partsch breaks down the playmakers from a defense that he says is the strength of the Louisiana team and returns 10 starters from last season. Partsch gives the edge in special teams to Louisiana, in part, because running back Chris Smith returned a couple kicks for touchdowns last season. After a long offseason, gameday is just around the corner and the Texas Longhorns are prepared to square off against the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns to kick off the 2021 season and the Steve Sarkisian era. Texas has taken on Louisiana twice - once in 2000 and again in 2005 - winning by a combined score of 112-13. However, this is not the Ragin' Cajuns that long-time Texas fans will remember playing in the past. Louisiana head coach Billy Napier took over the program three years ago and turned things around in a hurry - managing to win 11 games in his second season and had a shot at a conference championship in 2020. That 2020 campaign also added another feather in his cap, knocking off the Iowa State Cyclones in the season opener a year ago. Coming to Austin with Napier is super-senior quarterback Levi Lewis, who has been stellar over the last two seasons - passing for 5,324 yards, 45 touchdowns and just 11 interceptions in two seasons.
