In this episode, I sit down with defense attorney and trial analyst Bob Motta to examine two major developments shaking the foundation of the Delphi case: the collapse of the timeline investigators built around the murders of Abby Williams and Libby German, and the sweeping appeal just filed on behalf of Richard Allen. For years, the investigative timeline was treated as immutable. But in deposition after deposition, the structure starts to buckle. Bob and I dissect how key witness descriptions were reframed, how the search-warrant affidavit selectively emphasized certain statements, and how critical timestamps shifted depending on which investigator documented them. One witness described a young man and an older car — yet was later framed as having seen something “consistent” with Richard Allen. FBI involvement remains inconsistent depending on who you ask. Even the time of death varies across sworn testimony. Then we turn to Allen's new 130-page appeal brief — nearly double the usual size — outlining ten issues and nine constitutional claims. The defense argues the jury never heard about alternative suspects, including one who allegedly confessed. They challenge the exclusion of more than 1,200 pages of evidence, the handling of 61 unreliable confessions, the thirteen months Allen spent in solitary confinement, and the toolmark analysis behind the unspent bullet that prosecutors say ties his gun to the crime. No DNA linked Allen to the scene. A volunteer clerk found an error that went unnoticed for five years. And a judge blocked jurors from hearing evidence that law enforcement themselves investigated early on. This episode isn't about guilt or innocence — it's about whether the system followed its own rules, and whether the conviction can stand on the foundation the state built. Full breakdown. Every issue explained. No speculation — just the record. #DelphiCase #RichardAllen #AbbyAndLibby #DelphiTimeline #TrueCrimeNews #LegalAnalysis #DelphiAppeal #CourtRecords #HiddenKillers #JusticeReview Want to comment and watch this podcast as a video? Richard Allen is serving 130 years for the murders of Abby Williams and Libby German. The jury has spoken. But his defense team just filed something unprecedented—a request to submit an appeal brief nearly double the standard size. Ten issues. Nine constitutional claims. And a roadmap of everything that went wrong in this case. In this episode, we break down the five categories of Allen's appeal and what each one reveals about how this conviction was built. From the alternative suspects the jury never heard about—including a man who allegedly confessed to the killings months after they happened—to the 1,200 pages of evidence that was blocked from trial. From the sixty-one confessions made by a man who was also confessing to crimes that provably never happened, to the thirteen months of solitary confinement that the defense says broke his mind. No DNA linked Richard Allen to the crime scene. The state's own forensic scientist testified to that. The single piece of physical evidence—an unspent bullet—relies on contested toolmark analysis that the defense wasn't fully allowed to challenge. A volunteer clerk caught a filing error that investigators missed for five years. And a judge blocked the jury from hearing about other suspects, erased interview recordings, and an Odinism theory that law enforcement themselves investigated before dropping it without explanation. This isn't about declaring Richard Allen innocent. It's about asking whether the state proved their case—or just closed it. Whether the jury heard what they needed to hear. Whether this was a constitutional trial or a conviction built on broken confessions and blocked evidence. The families of Abby and Libby deserve justice. But justice isn't just an ending. It's the right ending. Full case breakdown. Every appeal issue explained. No speculation—just the facts the defense is putting before the Indiana Court of Appeals. #DelphiMurders #RichardAllen #AbbyAndLibby #DelphiCase #TrueCrime #DelphiTrial #RichardAllenAppeal #DelphiUpdate #LibbyGerman #AbbyWilliams Want to comment and watch this podcast as a video? On February 13, 2017, a man named Richard Allen murdered two girls, 14-year-old Liberty German and 13-year-old Abigail Williams in Delphi, in Carroll County. Carroll County Prosecutor Nicholas McLeland and his team, Stacey Diener and James Luttrull, prosecuted him. Allen's defense team consisted of lead counsel Brad Rozzi, Jennifer Auger, and Andrew Baldwin. That defense team established a consistent pattern of engaging in baseless personal attacks on prosecutors and detectives throughout their representation, and also put forward a flimsy theory of the case centering an alleged Norse pagan cult. Allen was convicted on November 11, 2024 by a jury of his peers. The Murder Sheet can now exclusively report that Baldwin filed a ridiculous complaint against McLeland this past summer with Indiana's Disciplinary Commission, a body tasked with disciplinary complaints against lawyers. Baldwin's complaint was dismissed on its face. Now McLeland will weigh in on the whole situation. In a lively conversation, Jill discussed the new true crime book by the hosts of the Murder Sheet podcast, Áine Cain and Kevin Greenlee, titled Shadow of the Bridge: The Delphi Murders and the Dark Side of the American Heartland. Áine Cain, the investigative journalist, and Kevin Greenlee, the renowned attorney, explore the tragic Delphi 2017 murders of young teens Libby German and Abby Williams, which they have intently followed for years. Then the podcasters examine the subsequent investigation, the positive and negative responses by social media, and the arrest and conviction of the perpetrator. Additionally, the state of the Delphi community in the aftermath and the darker aspects of true crime are discussed. Is this the new norm? How has social media influenced the public's perception of law enforcement and the trial? What evidence convinced the jurors? Join Jill in this discussion, and be sure to read Shadow of the Bridge, described as “the most comprehensive book on Delphi.” And a big thank you for all the support and positivity at Crimecon Denver 2025! In February 2017, two friends—13-year-old Abby Williams and 14-year-old Libby German—set out across a bridge in Delphi, Indiana. They never came home. What followed was one of the most haunting and widely followed true crime cases in America. In this episode, I speak with Brett Talley, co-host of The Prosecutors Podcast, about the long journey from tragedy to trial in the Delphi murders. We explore the lessons learned from years of investigation, the power and peril of media attention, and the human cost behind the headlines. From the girls' bravery in capturing evidence, to the community fractured by suspicion, to the guilty verdict that finally brought resolution, Brett shares what it was like to cover the case that became deeply personal for him. This is not just a story of crime and justice—it is a discussion of the stories we tell and why we will tell them, of empathy, memory, and the bridges we all must cross.Contact me at silverliningshandbookpod@gmail.comCheck out the Silver Linings Handbook website at:https://silverliningshandbook.com/Check out our Patreon to support the show at:https://www.patreon.com/thesilverliningshandbookJoin our Facebook Group at:https://www.facebook.com/groups/1361159947820623Visit the Silver Linings Handbook store to support the podcast at:https://www.bonfire.com/store/the-silver-linings-handbook-podcast-storeVisit The True Crime Times Substack at:https://truecrimemessenger.substack.comThe Silver Linings Handbook podcast is a part of the ART19 network. On an unseasonably warm February day in 2017 in Delphi, Indiana, two friends, 13-year-old Abby Williams and 14-year-old Libby German, decided on a whim to head out to the trails near their homes. An abandoned railroad bridge that once carried trains gave way over time to the feet of residents. Many would venture out onto the bridge only to find themselves crawling back on their hands and feet, but Libby was brave and she was taking Abby across as she had with others before. At the end of the bridge, as Libby was recording, a man appears over Abby's shoulder and says, “Guys, down the Hill.” Down the hill and across the creek, prosecutors would later say, the man stabbed the girls to death. In 2022, the man was identified by law enforcement as Richard Allen, who was convicted of the girls' murders in 2024. Since 2020, Kevin Greenlee and Áine Cain have covered the murders that occurred beneath the bridge and have just completed writing their book, Shadow of the Bridge: The Delphi Murders and the Dark Side of the American Heartland. Kevin and Áine joined me today to discuss their coverage of the case, their continued investigation and their forthcoming book, Shadow of the Bridge: The Delphi Murders and the Dark Side of the American Heartland. You can order the book here. You can read Jayson's review of the book in The True Crime Times here.To listen to The Murder Sheet podcast, click here.Contact me at silverliningshandbookpod@gmail.comCheck out the Silver Linings Handbook website at:https://silverliningshandbook.com/Check out our Patreon to support the show at:https://www.patreon.com/thesilverliningshandbookJoin our Facebook Group at:https://www.facebook.com/groups/1361159947820623Visit the Silver Linings Handbook store to support the podcast at:https://www.bonfire.com/store/the-silver-linings-handbook-podcast-storeVisit The True Crime Times Substack at:https://truecrimemessenger.substack.comThe Silver Linings Handbook podcast is a part of the ART19 network. When 13-year-old Abby Williams and 14-year-old Libby German disappeared from an abandoned railroad bridge on February 13, 2017, the community rushed to search for them. Once they were found murdered, law enforcement began the arduous process of searching for their killer. But, at the end of the day, it was clear from the investigation by Kevin Greenlee and Áine Cain, the co-authors of the forthcoming book Shadow of the Bridge, that Libby and Abby solved their own case– Libby by recording the man on the bridge and Abby by hiding the cell phone with the video on it.In the second and final part of my interview with Kevin and Áine, they take us through the investigation and the ineffectiveness of the defense team's approach to fighting the charges against the accused, a local man named Richard Allen. Kevin and Áine write about how the defense team was hampered by the moment Allen found God, began confessing to anyone who would listen and he said he wanted the opportunity to apologize to the girls' families. We explore the psychology of denial and conspiracies, clearing up misconceptions that have persisted over the years, and we examine the emotional aftermath. Kevin and Áine tap into five years of covering the case to discuss the man convicted of the crime and his family, alternate suspects, the true crime community and creators, the loved ones of Abby and Libby and the legacy of the girls. You can order the book here. You can read Jayson's review of the book in The True Crime Times here.To listen to The Murder Sheet podcast, click here.Contact me at silverliningshandbookpod@gmail.comCheck out the Silver Linings Handbook website at:https://silverliningshandbook.com/Check out our Patreon to support the show at:https://www.patreon.com/thesilverliningshandbookJoin our Facebook Group at:https://www.facebook.com/groups/1361159947820623Visit the Silver Linings Handbook store to support the podcast at:https://www.bonfire.com/store/the-silver-linings-handbook-podcast-storeVisit The True Crime Times Substack at:https://truecrimemessenger.substack.comThe Silver Linings Handbook podcast is a part of the ART19 network. on Herold and Zak “RedPill78” Paine are joined by guest Josh for a chilling deep dive into the Delphi murders of Abby Williams and Libby German. The discussion unpacks the infamous “bridge guy” video, Richard Allen's controversial conviction, and the disturbing crime scene details that point to something far bigger than a lone suspect. Josh brings his research on FBI involvement, lost interviews, and suspicious ties to militia groups and organized crime, suggesting a possible cover-up to protect federal operations. The hosts weigh in on forced confessions, media narratives, and how national security interests may have shaped the investigation. Blending true crime with conspiracy, this episode exposes the unanswered questions and hidden connections behind one of America's most haunting cases.
The Ron Logan Evidence the Jury Never Heard – Delphi Murder Shocker When Abby Williams and Libby German's bodies were found, it was on Ron Logan's property. The FBI prepared an affidavit citing a fake alibi, phone data placing him near the crime scene, and a history of violence. Some locals even recognized his build and walk in the Bridge Guy footage. Yet none of this made it to the jury in Richard Allen's trial. Logan's name never came up, despite proximity to the crime scene, documented lies, and behavior that should have made him a prime suspect. Instead, the investigation moved away from him entirely, even after a full FBI raid. In this episode, we break down what was in the Ron Logan file, what the FBI saw, and why Delphi police may have chosen to turn away from one of the most obvious leads in the case. We explore whether this was investigative incompetence, small-town bias, or something more intentional — and what it means for the credibility of the case against Richard Allen. #DelphiMurders #RonLogan #RichardAllen #TrueCrime #JusticeForAbbyAndLibby #DelphiCase #WrongfulConviction #ColdCase #TrueCrimeCommunity #IndianaCrime Want to comment and watch this podcast as a video? BIG BREAKDOWN - The Delphi Cover-Up EXPOSED, That Led To Richard Allen's False Conviction The Delphi murders of Abby Williams and Libby German have long been shrouded in mystery, but what's coming to light now is even more disturbing than the crime itself. In this episode, we expose how a flawed investigation, hidden evidence, and possible political interference led to the conviction of Richard Allen — a man who may be innocent. We break down the timeline of investigative missteps, from early tunnel vision to the quiet shelving of credible alternative suspect leads. Key forensic inconsistencies, suppressed witness statements, and questionable law enforcement decisions are examined in detail, revealing a disturbing pattern: a rush to judgment over a real pursuit of truth. We'll also look at the systemic pressures that often drive prosecutors to secure convictions at any cost, even when the evidence doesn't fully add up. This isn't speculation — these are documented gaps and contradictions that raise serious concerns about the legitimacy of Allen's conviction. Hidden Killers With Tony Brueski | True Crime News & Commentary
If this was truly a cover-up, it's one that has left a killer free, destroyed public trust, and re-victimized the families seeking justice. For anyone who has followed Delphi from the beginning, this is a must-hear breakdown of how the case may have gone so wrong — and what it will take to set it right. #DelphiCoverUp #RichardAllen #WrongfulConviction #DelphiMurders #TrueCrime #JusticeForAbbyAndLibby #TrueCrimeCommunity #IndianaCrime #ColdCase Want to comment and watch this podcast as a video? BIG BREAKDOWN - The OTHER Delphi Suspect Planned To Meet The Girls Day Of Murder!! What if Richard Allen wasn't the only person on law enforcement's radar — or even the right one? In this shocking breakdown, we reveal details about another man investigators knew about: a man who allegedly planned to meet Abby Williams and Libby German the very day they were killed. This episode dives into overlooked witness statements, digital evidence, and troubling behavioral patterns pointing toward this alternate suspect. We examine how law enforcement handled this lead — and why it seemed to vanish from the public narrative. Was it investigative oversight, political maneuvering, or something more deliberate? Using documented case materials, we follow the timeline of events, the communications between this suspect and others, and the circumstantial evidence that was stronger than what was presented against Allen. This isn't about defending anyone — it's about finding out why a legitimate lead in a double homicide was allowed to fade into the background. The implications are huge: if this man was overlooked, then the real killer could still be free, and the entire case against Richard Allen collapses under the weight of reasonable doubt. True crime audiences will find this to be one of the most important discussions yet about the Delphi investigation. #DelphiMurders #OtherSuspect #TrueCrime #AbbyAndLibby #RichardAllen #JusticeForAbbyAndLibby #IndianaCrime #TrueCrimeCommunity #ColdCase Want to comment and watch this podcast as a video? BIG BREAKDOWN - Proof That Richard Allen Is Innocent Of Delphi Murders Richard Allen is behind bars, convicted of the murders of Abby Williams and Libby German — but mounting evidence suggests the wrong man has been locked away. In this episode, we present the key facts, court records, and forensic contradictions that the jury never fully heard. From inconsistent witness statements to questionable chain-of-custody in handling evidence, we show how critical pieces of the puzzle simply don't fit the state's narrative. This isn't about conspiracy theories — it's about documented facts that call the entire conviction into question. We'll explore the alternative suspects with stronger connections to the victims, the leads that investigators abandoned, and the troubling omissions from the trial. If Allen is innocent, then the real killer remains free, and every day spent ignoring that possibility is another day justice is denied to Abby and Libby. This deep dive will challenge what you've been told, raise urgent questions about the integrity of the investigation, and reveal why this case might become one of the most notorious wrongful convictions in modern American history. For true crime followers, legal analysts, and anyone who believes in due process, this episode will leave you questioning everything. #RichardAllen #DelphiMurders #WrongfulConviction #JusticeForAbbyAndLibby #TrueCrime #DelphiCase #InnocentMan #ColdCase #TrueCrimeCommunity Want to comment and watch this podcast as a video? BIG BREAKDOWN - How Delphi Police Covered Up and Ignored Key Evidence From Possible Real Killer The Delphi murders of Abby Williams and Libby German shook the nation — but what if the official story is only part of the truth? In this episode, we uncover how police and investigators may have ignored or even buried crucial evidence pointing toward a possible real killer who was not Richard Allen. Using court filings, leaked investigative documents, and firsthand witness statements, we piece together the leads that were never fully pursued, the tips that mysteriously vanished from the official record, and the forensic details that contradict the prosecution's timeline. This isn't speculation — this is about what's in black-and-white, buried in the case files, and why it matters. We'll examine the political pressures, the behind-closed-doors decision-making, and the failure to follow up on credible suspects — all of which may have contributed to a wrongful conviction. If these allegations are true, then the real killer is still out there, and the public has been sold a false sense of justice. This breakdown pulls back the curtain on investigative failures that must be confronted if we are ever going to see true accountability in Delphi. Whether you're a seasoned follower of the case or hearing these revelations for the first time, this is one breakdown you can't afford to miss. #DelphiMurders #RichardAllen #TrueCrime #DelphiCoverUp #AbbyAndLibby #JusticeForAbbyAndLibby #ColdCase #IndianaCrime #TrueCrimeCommunity Want to comment and watch this podcast as a video? Jane Latman, executive producer of Capturing a Killer: The Delphi Murders on Hulu, a four-part docuseries examining the 2017 murders of Abby Williams and Libby German—two teenage girls killed while walking along a trail in Delphi, Indiana. The case drew national attention when police released chilling video and audio captured by Libby on her phone, and the investigation became one of the most closely followed unsolved crimes in recent history. Robert Peters spent most of his life as a prosecutor and a Christian. Those two things came together when he took his position as the director of institutional response for GRACE, an organization that investigates sexual abuse in Protestant churches. Founded in 2003 after a reporter called the founder about a case of sexual abuse mishandled by a pastor, GRACE, which stands for Godly Response to Abuse in the Christian Environment, the group's leadership became convinced that Protestant institutions were not properly addressing incidents of sexual abuse that would eventually lead to the damage seen in the Catholic Church. In their view, authoritarian cultures of some organizations were particularly susceptible to spiritual abuse and silencing victims.Following in the footsteps of James Lutrell, a prosecutor in the case of the Delphi, Indiana murders of Abby Williams and Libby German, Robert puts a laser focus on victims, getting to the truth and promoting change. Fall: Richard Allen[REKLAM] Länk Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/spoktimmenKällor: https://www.spoktimmen.se/spoksommar2025-4 KontaktInstagram: @spoktimmen@linnek@jennyborg91 Facebook: Spöktimmen Mail: spoktimmenpodcast@gmail.com Hosted on Acast. Big Breakdown – The Delphi Murders & The Forced & False Confessions Of Richard Allen Description: The Delphi murders case continues to unravel — and now, disturbing questions are being raised about the treatment of Richard Allen, the man accused of killing Abby Williams and Libby German. Could his confession have been coerced? Was it even real? In this episode, we take a deep dive into the shocking courtroom revelations, the alleged use of psychotropic medications, prolonged isolation, and questionable interrogation tactics used against Allen. We explore whether law enforcement crossed the line — and if Richard Allen's rights were violated so severely that justice for Abby and Libby may now hang in the balance. If true, we may be looking at one of the most explosive due process failures in recent memory — one that could blow the Delphi case wide open. Is this about solving a case, or creating a suspect? And what happens when the system becomes part of the story? Richard Allen Interrogated: The First Time the Public Sees Him Speak PART 2 You Got One Piece of Evidence I Can't Explain The public is finally hearing the voice of Richard Allen—the man convicted of murdering Abby Williams and Libby German—for the first time, and what he says is as chilling as it is revealing. Newly released videos from YouTuber Tom Webster expose a window into Allen's world just before and just after his arrest. What starts as firm denial slowly spirals into something a whole lot darker. Allen, sentenced to 130 years in December for the 2017 murders of 13-year-old Abby and 14-year-old Libby, managed to fly under the radar for over five years. Then, on October 26, 2022, he was arrested. But two weeks before that, on October 13, investigators brought him in for questioning. And that interrogation, which is now public, begins with Allen trying to stay cool under pressure. He admits he was on the Monon High Bridge the same day the girls vanished. Not a great start. But when pushed further, he flat-out denies any involvement. The cops didn't hold back either. At one point, Carroll County Prosecutor's Office Investigator Steve Mullin throws out a brutal accusation: Either Allen did this to the girls himself, or he helped someone else do it. That's when Allen pushes back. Hard. “Good luck finding anything that points in that direction,” he says. “You're not going to make me believe it's me.” In hindsight, it's a strange thing to say. He doesn't say “I didn't do it” with confidence. Instead, it's “you're not going to make me believe it's me.” Like he's arguing with his own reflection. By the time we get to the second video—recorded the day of his arrest—the tone changes. Investigators have an unspent bullet found at the crime scene, and it matches a gun owned by Allen. He's still in denial, but now, it sounds desperate. “There is no way that evidence is going to show that I did this,” Allen insists. But the police aren't backing down either. ISP Investigator Jerry Holeman is blunt: “It's right f---ing here, Rick.” Allen's response? “You got one piece of evidence I can't explain.” And Holeman hits back with: “I got multiple pieces. Multiple. I'm not showing you my whole f---ing hand here.” It's a poker game with two people holding very different cards. And it becomes clear Allen knows he's losing. Then come the prison phone calls. Eight of them, between November 2022 and June 2023, shared publicly for the first time. In those calls, Allen talks to his wife and his mother, and that's where things start unraveling. These aren't emotional breakdowns or cryptic metaphors—these are confessions. Clear, damning, and hard to walk back. They were played during the trial, but the public never got to hear them until now. Still, Allen's legal team claims those confessions weren't given voluntarily. Maybe it was the stress, the isolation, the realization that there's no way out. Maybe it was all three. But that's the story they're sticking to. In March, Allen's attorneys filed a notice of appeal. They're trying to undo what the jury decided—that Allen is the man who took two young girls' lives on a cold February day in Delphi. But with videos of him talking before the arrest, and recordings of him admitting guilt afterward, it's going to be a tough mountain to climb. #DelphiMurders #RichardAllen #TrueCrimePodcast #AbbyAndLibby Want to listen to ALL of our podcasts AD-FREE? On the afternoon of February 13th, 2017, in the sleepy little 3000(ish) person town of Delphi, Indiana, two local junior high girls and best friends, 13-year-old Abigail Joyce Williams and 14-year-old Liberty Rose Lynn German, went missing nearing an abandoned bridge near the edge of town. And when he was, the town would be shocked for a second time, when they learned that the killer was one of their own who had been hiding in plain sight... Blayne Alexander and Andrea Canning catch up about Andrea's latest episode, “A Walk Through the Woods.” In 2017, two middle schoolers, Libby German and Abby Williams, were found murdered in the woods on the outskirts of Delphi, Indiana, near an abandoned railway bridge. For years, the case was at a standstill, except for one clue: a video of the killer captured by one of his victims on her cellphone. Andrea tells Blayne about visiting the bridge for herself and what it was like covering the crime as the mother of girls the same age as the victims. Plus, she shares a podcast-exclusive clip from her interview with the prosecutor on the case, Nick McLeland, and answers viewer and listener questions from social media.Listen to the full episode of "A Walk Through the Woods" on Apple: https://apple.co/3Xjb92lListen to the full episode on Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/episode/2kXFahUaZMKnbAxkHasZI2
