No matter the case, no matter the client, you need a compelling story to convince the jury to award damages. “You want that million dollars?” asks jury trial consultant Jesse Wilson. “Tell me the ‘try' story. Tell me how somebody is trying to overcome their pain.” In this conversation with host Dan Ambrose, Jesse describes how this approach yields results. In one case he consulted on, a plaintiff who had been injured in a car wreck – and even gone back to work – got a $2.5 million settlement, after initially only being offered $80,000. Jesse calls his tactic the “victim-to-victor” approach, and he'll teach it at the upcoming TLU Vegas. Those who sign up should be prepared for an interactive experience – Jesse's a Juilliard-trained actor who borrows from his theater background so that participants will “understand and not intellectualize the process.” Train and Connect with the Titans☑️ Jesse Wilson | Tell The Winning Story | Email | X | Facebook | LinkedIn | YouTube | Instagram | TikTok☑️ Jesse's Book: Witness Preparation: How to Tell the Winning Story ☑️ TLU VEGAS☑️ Trial Lawyers University Website☑️ TLU On Demand Instant access to live lectures, case analysis, and skills training videos☑️ TLU on X | Facebook | Instagram | LinkedIn☑️ Subscribe Apple Podcasts | Spotify | YouTubeEpisode SnapshotJesse Wilson's path from Juilliard to Colorado prisons to courtroomsWhy his “victim-to-victor” approach can maximize damagesHow he breaks a direct examination into three actsWhat four-letter word you and your client can...

Nicki Bluhm joins me on the show this week. I first heard her recent record “Avondale Drive” about 6 months ago and was blown away. She jas an incredible voice and writes really interesting tunes that draw from blues, soul, country and pop music. Nicki has made some killer records aside from Avondale Drive, and also had a really cool band called The Gramblers, which she fronted with her ex-husband and Mother Hips member Tim Bluhm that have a couple releases as well. Nicki is originally from the Bay Area and while she lives in Nashville now, she stays rooted in that scene with regular appearances with Phil Lesh and Friends as well as Little Feat, with whom she has been on tour recently as a featured guest and backup singer. She's also out touring with her band, and as a duo with her new partner Jesse Wilson, who she made Avondale Drive with during the pandemic. Years later, police announced her arrest in connection to Jesse's death. But it's NOT a murder charge. Jesse's biological family has mixed emotions, and questions remain about how the state could have better protected him.

Air humping in leg warmers meets journalistic malfeasance and everyone's lives are ruined. But hey! Jaime Lee is hot, so I guess that's ok. Hailed as the film that ended Travolta's career (briefly, lets be honest) and set Jamie Lee back a few years, Perfect is anything but. Its way too long for such a paper thin plot and is stuffed with repeated unnecessary and irrelevant scenes that keep it dragging you into the depths of your sofa. Pedantic would be an understatement.  But poorly acted is not how we would describe it. At worst, the acting is "meh", "whatevs" levels aside from Jaime Lee who is pretty darn good here. Even Travolta who we love to bash on did just fine. It's not the actors who are at fault here. What IS wild about this is how heavily involved Rolling Stones magazine is, while also managing to paint the rag in a very bad light. Its somehow screaming out to us in 1985 "WE DON'T ACTUALLY DO GOOD JOURNALISM! DON'T TRUST US!". At no point, would I have wanted to place a subscription after watching this so...good job? The plot is baffling and falls into the nonsensical realm of stinkers. Its border-line idiot plot, but also manages to make zero sense and is clear that no one involved knew anything about either federal espionage law, the FISA act, or subpoenas. Yes I know that maybe the majority of Americans don't but we aren't writing movies about that material either. A lot of the film's dumbness could have been avoided with just a single call to an attorney.  Lastly, the film manages to step on its own John Thomas. In the climax of their relationship, Jamie Lee's Jesse Wilson deletes the article that Travolta's Adam Lawrence was writing (poorly) about gym life and how his main focus is a sexually liberated Linda who uses the gym as a place to meet dudes, in her endless pursuit of perfection. Jesse declares it will ruin her life just like a reporter once ruined her own - EXCEPT Jesse has never even met Linda from what we know AND Linda wanted the article to be exactly about that part of her life. The whole thing could have been a statement article on the decade and changed Linda's life for the better but instead Jesse destroys the whole thing (except she never saved the file on the 1985 word processor - oops) and everyone's future along with it and we're supposed to appreciate her position?!?! No she had the power to change LA and thus America's viewpoint of women and what a woman should be, likely allowing Harvey Weinstein 30 years in the business. #metoo could have happened 20 years earlier (saving a lot of people a lot of pain) if stupid Jesse had just kept her grubby little mitts off Adams work. But then Adam does something equally terrible - he rewrites the story as a fluff piece just to get back in Jesse's drawers. He should know better than Jesse about what the repercussions of that original article would have done but instead trashes the whole thing so he could get some gym rat ass. And that's worse that Jesse's actions - she's just a gym instructor. He's a crummy Ben Fong-Torres. Save America? Nah, sweet sweet leotard's crumpled by the bed for Adam! The movie sucks. Skip it.

10-year-old Jesse Wilson was reported missing from his Buckeye, Arizona home by his mother Crystal Wilson. She called the non-emergency line to report that her son seemed to have left out of his bedroom window in the middle of the night like he had several times before but this time, he hadn't returned home.   Months of searching the Arizona desert in the middle of summer produced few results. But as the spotlight turned to Crystal Wilson, it appeared that answers about what may have happened to Jesse might be closer to home than investigators originally anticipated.   Jesse Wilson went missing from Buckeye, Arizona on July 17, 2016, between 9:30 pm and 1:30 am the next morning. Jesse was black and he had black hair and brown eyes. At that time, he was about 4 feet tall and weighed 60 pounds. He was last seen wearing a red shirt, black socks, and black shoes. From living in America as a child and shovelling show to earn some extra pocket money Jesse had very little entrepreneurial heritage but that doesn't seem to have stopped him growing a brand that can now be found in pubs, bars and restaurants across the UK. With Jesse's Dad being a Vicar and his mum a French teacher, how did Jesse build such a strong beer brand with such little knowledge. Jesse graduated from University and ended up working for Mars, this however wasn't for him. An idea he baked up on his Uni ski trip for an 'Apres Beer' kept nibbling away at him, so much so, Jesse was developing the concept of Jubel Beer, the apres beer, alongside his job at Mars. Once Jesse could see that his brand and flavour would take off, Jesse left his life in the corporate world and started to scale the brand and business. With Jesse's background of Mars and PWC, albeit brief, Oliver asks him what the perfect investment deck looks like, and with a recent funding round in 2022 of £2.7million Jesse clearly knows what he's doing! Jesse Wilson, CEOBorn and raised in Los Angeles, CA, Jesse Wilson is the CEO and Founder of Tell The Winning Story, a communications effectiveness program that helps people step into their true communications power through the raw power of the theater. In his own words…“Weeks before I left for New York City to study acting professionally at Juilliard, a great friend from high school made the choice to take his own life. I spent years trying to come up with a reason for why he did it, and out of all the theories, I believe that he chose to take his own life because of a belief system he had allowed to mold into what he thought was his true identity. This experience helped me form the basis of my work with Tell The Winning Story and to discover “my role” in this world beyond the stage.I know that what I now consider success as a teacher and artist is 100 percent based on helping people awaken to the reality of who they are at their core, once the mask is removed. This is what I call Living The Greater Story. For me, helping people achieve this state is the greatest high in the world. After graduating from Juilliard, it became my personal mission to share the invaluable and universally impactful lessons from the stage in order for people to reach their maximum potential in both their career and personal lives. As a communications specialist, I work with many different groups of people, but I consider all the work I share as one lesson: how to use the obstacles in our lives to live a greater story.” Integrating the best of cutting edge self-empowerment programs, business presentation skills, transformational leadership and healing arts principals, plus over 20 years of working in the theater, Tell The Winning Story is a success tool for Lawyers, Leaders, Veterans, Athletes, Artists, Teachers, Entrepreneurs, and all who defy titles looking to give their peak performance in every area of their lives.Jesse has applied these communication skills in prisons, courtrooms and boardrooms, and has studied how stories can affect audiences in extremely powerful ways when the presenter is tuned into their greatest source of power and living their own greater story.https://tellthewinningstory.com/about-us/team/To Learn more about Rob Lohman, visit www.TheAddictionRecoveryHub.com

This week we welcome Jesse Wilson of Jubel Beers and Michelle Berriedale-Johnson, an expert in sensitive eating The last seven days have been completely dominated by Brexit…cabinet this, no-deal that. One imagines that being an MP at Westminster has probably never been more exciting, even if the rest of us are sick of hearing about it. One of the rumours to come out of the whole saga is that we, the UK, could have a bit of a food crisis on our hands. Whichever side of the fence you sit though, you can only admire some of the homegrown delights that there are to enjoy. So, you know what, stuff your Brexit for one hour. We want to talk UK food.  Sue Nelson, Ollie Lloyd and Holly Shackleton don't need to be told twice. Our three-strong presenting team were delighted to get chatting with our two guests this week. Our first guest is somebody who has her finger on the pulse in the world of food and food sensitivity in particular. Michelle Berriedale-Johnson, on the back of a dairy allergy diagnosis in the family, has written countless books and created 1000s of recipes for people with allergies. Most of her great work can be seen in her own online magazines, such as Foods Matter. Michelle also created the FreeFrom Awards. Our other guest has enjoyed less time in the business but has had an amazing start and is already being stocked in the supermarkets. Jesse Wilson explained how he and his co-founder were sick of drinking the same old lagers on the market, so decided to take matters into their own hands As a result, Jubel Beer was created. The brief…not to be like everything else on the market. Well they've certainly cracked that. Their two brews, Urban and Alpine, are brewed with elderflower and peach respectively – they taste amazing. Crack open a cold one (or two) and forget about bloody Brexit!

It's the fourth annual "… of the year" extravaganza, in which Jesse Wilson and I each bestow 20 highly coveted and equally made up awards based on 2016's technology news. Some of the awards include classics like “moonwalk of the year” and “lipstick on a pig of the year”, as well as new entries like “you dropped the ball at the finish line of the year” and special one I felt obliged to add for myself titled “biggest personal egg on face moment of the year”. Topics include why there was more than 6 months between Action Launcher updates to start the year and what I learnt going so long between updates. I also discuss my pushing to release the Pixel Launcher inspired update so quickly after the leaks arrived, how the update was received by press and customers alike. Oh, and I both tease a major feature I withheld from a recent update and find a (valid!) excuse to talk about hidden menu items at In-N-Out Burger. Follow Jesse on Twitter: @JesseWilson. (http://www.advanceyourart.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/06/JesseWilsonPhoto1.jpeg) LIVE YOUR GREATER STORY! From its origins in working with inmates, Juilliard Theater Graduate and TEDx Speaker Jesse Wilson has created a life-changing program designed to help you Connect, Communicate, and Lead with your greatest source of power through the tools and strategies of the theater. No matter what change you are seeking to make in your life, no matter your profession, the simple, transformational teachings of “Lessons From The Stage” will awaken you to your true Power, Purpose, and Passion. It’s time to not just tell but LIVE your greater story… and share it with the world! MEET JESSE Born and raised in Los Angeles, CA, empowerment trainer and coach, author, performer, and teacher, Jesse Wilson began acting at a very early age and hasn’t stopped acting since. Now he’s living his greatest role– helping people discover the confidence in their “voices” by using the obstacles in their own lives through the power of the theater. For years after graduating from The Juilliard School in New York City, it has been his personal mission to share the invaluable and universally impactful lessons from the stage in order for people to reach their maximum potential in both businesses and in life. Jesse Wilson considers all the work he does as one lesson: How to use the obstacle in our lives to tell a greater story. In early 2014, Jesse published “Faces On My Wall,” a novel to help transmit the idea that The Obstacle Is The Opportunity, and to raise personal awareness for those on the path of not only performance art but the bridge to living a successful and authentic life. Seen through the eyes of a teenager named Jamey Fuller who struggles to maintain the integrity of his “voice” while being an actor in New York, “Faces on My Wall” is about facing one’s own fears and insecurities, as well as the realities of life, and ultimately about facing and celebrating ourselves as we really are. Through “Lessons From The Stage,” with over 20 years in the entertainment industry, Jesse Wilson empowers everyone to discover the wondrous world of possibilities that lie within each of us. Rather than focusing on some distant external desire, we are guided by our own “inside voices” to look within and discover our true gifts. The secret to becoming a great performer… on stage, in business, and in life? The Obstacle Is the Opportunity. And it’s an inside job. Episode 151:  Reflecting Back on Theatre School Jesse Wilson was born in LA, started acting at an early age and was accepted into Juilliard. He was on track to becoming a traditional professional actor, but twenty years later has found purpose in the education aspect of the arts. In this podcast Jesse reflects back on his time at Juilliard, his expectations of the experience and what really happened, and what do today's students need to do to prepare for life after school. Show Notes Face the City promotional package Face the City Video Theatre Beyond the Stage podcast  Theatrefolk Blog Episode Transcript Welcome to TFP – The Theatrefolk Podcast – the place to be for Drama teachers, Drama students, and theatre educators everywhere. You can find any links to this episode in the show notes which are at theatrefolk.com/episode151. All right. Today, we're looking back. We're reflecting. Reflection – the great buzzword of education in the 21st Century. “Everybody walk across the room. Okay, everybody, reflect on the experience.” (You know, I'm kidding. I'm kidding.) Actually, I use reflection all the time in our educational materials. I think it's important. It's really key to comprehension and connection – good C words. So, we're going to reflect and we're going to reflect on theatre school. We're going to look back on going to theatre school twenty years after the fact with Jesse Wilson. He was accepted into Juilliard and one might think that that alone would be a one-way ticket to a professional theatre life because going to Juilliard is a dream for many theatre students. When I think of theatre school, you know, that's the name at the top of my list. But, as we all know, dreams are different than reality – in good and bad ways, right? There's a little teaser for you. You have to listen for good and bad. Okay, let's get to it. LINSDAY: Hello, everybody! All right, I am speaking with Jesse Wilson. Hello, Jesse! JESSE: What's up, Lindsay? LINSDAY: Oh, everything is up! Everything is up, nothing is down. Actually, everything is up and everything is down which means we're all in a good place. JESSE: That's great. LINSDAY: Or something like that. JESSE: Isn't that like a She Silverstein or something? “Everything is up, everything is down”? Something like that? I don't know. LINSDAY: Oh, I like that. I think that's wonderful. JESSE: It sounds like it. If not, it's something that should be written. I love it. LINSDAY: It's a good point of view and we'll give the credit to Shel Silverstein. JESSE: Yeah. LINSDAY: So, Jesse, you and I talked last year about a wonderful project that you sort of got involved in with theatre in prisons. JESSE: Yes. LINSDAY: We also got a little bit into your beginnings and how where you are is probably not where you were expected when you first started out in your theatre career. JESSE: Not at all. LINSDAY: That's kind of what we're talking about this month on the podcast. We're talking about, you know, what happens about your expectations of going into a theatre program and what you think your theatre life is going to be and maybe how you can maybe temper some of those expectations or have a strategy, right? Have a sort of strategy for hitting the real world. I think that's it in a nutshell. So, let's go back – way back – and just talk about your beginnings. You grew up in LA. JESSE: I did. LINSDAY: What was that like? JESSE: Born and raised. LINSDAY: Ah, you're one of the twenty, right? JESSE: I think so, yeah! I was born and raised in Hollywood, California – about five minutes away from the Hollywood sign. You could look outside my bedroom window and I saw a very clear view of the Dodgers' stadium way in the distance and then, to my left,

Episode 145: Theatre Beyond the Stage Jesse Wilson started life as an actor. Born in LA he started acting young and even went to Juilliard. But that traditional “actors” life is not the one he leads now. A one day novelty experience with at-risk teens turned into a two month monologue creation project. He frequently works with correctional facilities through arts rehabilitation programs.  How do you create theatre with non actors? What are the steps to creating a life inspired monologue? What was the end result? In this episode, we take Theatre beyond the stage. Show Notes Ted Talk Monologue Everything Scene Spurs  Emergency Lesson Plans  Episode Transcript Welcome to TFP – The Theatrefolk Podcast – the place to be for Drama teachers, Drama students, and theatre educators everywhere. I'm Lindsay Price, resident playwright for Theatrefolk. Hello! I hope you're well. Thanks for listening. This is Episode 145. You can find any links to this episode in the show notes at theatrefolk.com/episode145 and I think this is one of those episodes that we should just get right to. Suffice it to say we're talking theatre beyond the stag, beyond the entertainment value, beyond working with “actors.” How many of you have to deal with administrators who only see your class as games or fluff? How often have you had to have students or students in your class who are and will always be non-actors? You want them to have the experience; you want to include them and to get them to have a great experience with your classroom – how? We're talking about theatre, real people, real life, all together, holding hands – maybe not. But, anyway, Jesse Wilson is my guest. Let's get to it. LINDSAY: Hello, Jesse! JESSE: Hey, Lindsay! How are you? LINDSAY: Awesome. Tell everybody where you are in the world. JESSE: I'm in an amazing little planet called Colorado Springs in Colorado. LINDSAY: Conveniently enough, Colorado Springs is in Colorado. JESSE: That's right! Born and raised in LA, lived in the west coast pretty much, well, until I was eighteen, and then lived in the east coast and I've navigated my way back and forth between LA and New York and Philadelphia. Somehow, I ended up here and it's going great. LINDSAY: Awesome! So, just start by saying, what's your connection to theatre? JESSE: Well, my connection to theatre probably begins the day I was born. I don't remember ever doing anything that wasn't theatre-related. I grew up in the industry and began acting at a very early age. And so, that's just been who I am and what I've been doing for forever. I'd probably say the biggest, most pivotal experience in the theatre is when I went to Juilliard and that was right after high school and that's what really got the ball rolling. LINDSAY: Awesome. That's a whole other podcast for a whole other day because that would be interesting to, well, you know, we have a lot of listeners who have students who go, “Where should I go to school?” or “What's it like to be…?” you know, that notion of LA has a… stigma is not the right word. Well, it has a preconceived notion of what that's like. JESSE: It does, it certainly does. LINDSAY: That is very interesting that that is your background but we're going to talk about something a little bit different than that. We're going to talk about something that's different than the traditional. When we think about theatre or we think about a life in the theatre, we think about those things – we think about LA and we think about going to a theatre school – but that's not the only thing that you have in your background. JESSE: No, yeah. Well, I have a lot of pain in my background so I don't know if you could put that on a resume but… LINDSAY: Well, I think some – some you really could! JESSE: That would be great if you could, yeah. LINDSAY: “What are your special skills?” JESSE: “I suffered here in this period in my life and I really s...
