Their bloody bodies would be found the next day, but their killer wouldn't be caught for over five years. And when he was, the town would be shocked for a second time, when they learned that the killer was one of their own who had been hiding in plain sight... TRIGGER WARNING CHILD DEATHOn a make-up 'snow day' in Delphi Indiana, 13 year old Abby Williams and Libby German decided to go explore the Monon High Bridge and walking trail. Libby's dad Derek had agreed to pick them up at 3:30pm when he was on his way home from work. When Derek arrived at the agreed upon meeting spot , the girls were no where to be found. The next day, which was valentines day, the bodies of Liberty and Abigail were found, and an investigation for a killer began. With the girls bodies being found outside, and no other clues to go off of, this was going to be an extremely difficult investigation. Until they realized that 14 year old Libby would have had the forethought to take out her cell phone, and record the man at the bridge that day, who was making the girls uncomfortable, and she was able to also hide the phone so after she got a video of the suspect, they also had his voice from the audio that recorded while the phone was in her pocket. This is the devastating case of the murders of Abigail Williams and Liberty German.Support the showIf you're interested in receiving bonus episodes, early release dates, an everything scary sticker and ‘thank you' as well as a shout out on our regular feed! Delphi Murders: Leaks & Deception /// Part 2 /// 727 Part 2 of 2 www.TrueCrimeGarage.comOn Monday, February 13th, 2017 @ 2:07PM, 14 year old Liberty German posted a picture of her best friend 13 year old Abigail Williams to snap chat. The photo of Abigail shows the youngster walking across the Monon High Bridge located in a rural part of Carroll County, Indiana. The two girls were not heard from again after that. Sadly the next day, the girls bodies were found about a half mile or so away from the bridge. It was quickly ruled a double homicide and the search for the killer or killers started in Carroll County and then spread across the nation. On October 31st 2022, the Indiana State Police announced that local Carrol County, Indiana resident Richard Allen had been charged with two counts of murder in the case. He has pleaded not guilty to the charges of murder. The twists and turns continue in this case. There's been questions of the suspect's sanity and safety, the introduction of a cult ritualistic murders theory, suspected corruption within Indiana's correctional facilities, and leaked murder scene photographs. What do we truly know about the intricacies of justice in small-town America, particularly when the eyes of the nation aren't watching? The case of Richard Allen, accused of a heinous crime in Delphi, Indiana, brings this question sharply into focus. With questionable judicial decisions and a community enveloped in a tense atmosphere, the case's peculiarities evoke a narrative so strange it rivals fiction. At the heart of this unfolding drama is Richard Allen, charged with the murder of two young girls, yet the evidence against him remains under scrutiny. Tony Brueski, the host of "Hidden Killers," points out, "We're seeing it highlighted right now by Richard Allen, who's accused of being the murderer of those two little girls, but with not a ton of evidence against him." The principle of 'innocent until proven guilty' seems to blur in Delphi, as pretrial proceedings spawn more concerns about fairness and legal representation. A judge's decision to replace Allen's long-standing defense attorneys with one who narrowly escaped disbarment has raised eyebrows. The appearance of a sheriff and an accused henchman overseeing the hearing adds to the perception of an unconventional legal process, perhaps compromised by personal vendettas or communal pressures. The conversation with psychotherapist and author Shavaun Scott on the podcast shines a light on the deepening abyss of bizarre events surrounding the case. "It's layers of bizarre, and it just seems to get stranger and stranger as it goes on," Scott remarked. The involvement of Odinism cult allegations and the questionable mental health support for Allen in detention further taint the case with shades of the surreal. These anomalies in Delphi's judicial ecosystem raise unsettling questions about the checks and balances—or lack thereof—in smaller communities. With a decline in local press, the forces that once held power accountable seem weakened. As Brueski contemplates, "Is that why we're starting to see more and more things like this in some of these smaller towns? Or is this just a reflection of how it's really always been and we're just putting a microscope on it more than ever?" Scott leans towards the latter, suggesting that such intertwined irregularities have always existed but now face unprecedented scrutiny due to the internet and alternative reporting channels. However, the attention may not be enough to penetrate the tight-knit power structures within communities like Delphi. As the case progresses, with Allen's Sixth Amendment rights potentially infringed and his wellbeing in custody a growing concern, the role of external oversight becomes crucial. But what happens when those expected to catalyze change are the ones accused of perpetuating the problem? "Where do you go? What do you do when you're in a community like that or you're in a situation like Richard Allen?" Brueski asks, articulating the helplessness that can engulf those caught in such a vortex. The possibility of the Indiana Supreme Court intervening offers a glimmer of hope, but the limitations of such interventions are evident. Scott's insights underscore the psychological toll on Allen, isolated and declining in solitary confinement. "Does he need therapy? Does he need a psychiatrist? Does he need medication?" she questions, highlighting the urgent need for adequate mental health support for detainees, an often-overlooked aspect of the criminal justice system. This case, with its peculiar twists and the shadow it casts on the integrity of local governance and justice, does more than just question the fate of one man. It challenges our collective confidence in the justice system, particularly in settings where communal bonds may unduly influence the scales of justice. As the nation watches and waits for the Supreme Court's response, the question lingers: Will the people of Delphi, empowered by new awareness and possibly by voting power, usher in change? Or will these oddities fester, perpetuating a cycle of injustice hidden away from the public eye? And for those following the case, there's another question, equally haunting, that may well linger beyond the final gavel: How does a society ensure its justice system upholds not just the law, but humanity itself? And for those following the case, there's another question, equally haunting, that may well linger beyond the final gavel: How does a society ensure its justice system upholds not just the law, but humanity itself? Can justice really be blind when the scales seem tipped from the start? This is the question lingering in the air as Tony Brueski and Jennifer Coffindaffer delve into the tangled judicial web surrounding the case of Richard Allen on the podcast "Hidden Killers." The conversation between Brueski, a seasoned podcaster, and Coffindaffer, a former FBI Special Agent and contributor to the podcast, suggests a disturbing possibility: a "cabal" of power in Carroll County may be manipulating the outcome of a crucial murder case, seemingly undeterred by the notion of accountability. The case's strange journey began with the recusal of a Carroll County judge due to undisclosed relationships. The subsequent handover to Judge Gull was initially met with relief, implying a fresh perspective from outside the contentious local arena. However, the optimism was short-lived as the judge appointed two new attorneys from the same area where the jury pool would be drawn, both figures having a significant television presence despite a gag order. "It just doesn't make any sense to me," Brueski notes. The concerns don't stop there. The removal of previously filed paperwork, including a Frank's hearing motion, raised eyebrows. Such a hearing could have put a spotlight on alleged investigative mishaps by law enforcement, a scrutiny that will no longer occur. Coffindaffer expresses dismay, "It's a huge win for Tony Liggett and the sheriff's office there to not be under that scrutiny." As the hosts dissect the implications of the discarded Frank's hearing, they point out the potential domino effect on other cases should misconduct be revealed. "If indeed [missteps] are found, oh my gosh, now you're going to have to go back to a multitude of other cases," Coffindaffer asserts, drawing parallels to the Alex Murdaugh case, where a ripple effect of retrials could erupt if violations in due process are uncovered. The central concern, however, transcends the guilt or innocence of individuals like Richard Allen or Alex Murdaugh. It zeroes in on the integrity of the judicial system itself. "The point isn't whether Richard Allen is guilty. It's our system. And is the system treating the individuals fairly?" Coffindaffer questions, highlighting a fundamental principle of justice that appears to be in jeopardy. Further compounding the irregularities is the curious case of evidence leaks leading to the original attorneys' dismissal. Despite the leaks not reaching the public domain, their very occurrence prompts questions about the rationale and subsequent year-long delay as new attorneys sift through the discovery. With Allen's trial pushed to the following year, his mental and physical well-being in maximum security solitary confinement becomes another point of contention. "I'm really starting to wonder, will he make it all the way to October of next year with the new trial date?" Brueski ponders. The podcast "Hidden Killers," in this episode, is not just sharing a narrative; it's unearthing systemic concerns that may echo beyond the borders of Carroll County. Is this a one-off incident of judicial mishandling, or does it expose a broader issue of unchecked power within our courts? The article concludes, not with a summary, but an invitation to consider a larger, more profound question: In the complex dance of justice and power, who truly leads, and at what cost? When the procedural soundtrack skips, who pays the price for the silence? Want to listen to ALL of our podcasts AD-FREE? Abigail Williams and Liberty German were walking along the Monon High Bridge Trail in Delphi, Indiana on February 13, 2017, Snapchatting along the way. A few of those videos captures what would potentially be their killer. On Valentine's Day, Abigail and Libery's bodies were found, with investigators concluding that this was no accident, the girls were murdered. There have been 5 years of clues and analysis, even a few people named as persons of interest, but no arrests have been made. That being said, recent developments may finally lead us to the true killer. Investigators say that Liberty "Libby" was talking to someone online under the name "anthony_shots", now identified as Kegan Anthony Kline. Kline used fake pictures and fake info to lure children into sending nudes and other graphic material. The worse part? Kline is currently not named as a suspect or person of interest. Hiking Trails are often portrayed in horror films as frightening and dangerous. Though, in reality, this is rarely the case. Tragically, a real life monster found 13-year-old Liberty German and 14-year-old Abigail Williams on February 13th, 2017 as they hiked the Monon High Bridge Trail in Delphi Indiana. We've never found this monster. Though, we have seen him, and we've heard his voice as he ordered the girls to go "down the hill." Despite video evidence, four years later we are still searching for the Delphi Killer.

Two friends, fourteen year old Libby German and thirteen year old Abby Williams, would be found murdered the next day, and the tight knit community of Delphi Indiana has never been the same. Over the years, this case has been analyzed by thousands of people, but even though video footage of the suspect was captured, as well as audio of what his voice sounds like, the murders of these two, innocent teenage girls have yet to be solved. Monday February 13th, 2017 was an unseasonably beautiful day in Delphi Indiana. Best friends Liberty German and Abigail Williams had a rare day off of school and wanted to enjoy the weather, so they decided to take a walk on Monon High Bridge trail, a prime location for the kind of artful, moody social media photos that the youths are so fond of. At approximately 2 pm Liberty would post a snapchat of Abby, alone on the bridge, and that would be the last time anyone saw or heard from the girls alive. Less than 24 hours later their bodies would be discovered in the underbrush near the trail, just 50 feet shy of the embankment to Deer Creek on private property. Their killer is still at large. Video recovered from Liberty's cell phone shows the grainy image of a man following them on the solitary railway trestle bridge, this, accompanied by a tiny snippet of eerie audio the Indiana State police have released, which is a man's voice instructing "Guys...Down the hill." has captured the interest of every true crime follower the world over. Police believe this man is responsible for the murder of both girls. This is a sad one fiends, they're all sad but there's something about this one that really gets to a lot of us. We have uncovered every possible rock for you guys, and we hope there will be developments for us to report in the future. If you have any information, please send tips to abbyandlibbytip@cacoshrf.com On February 13th, 2017, two teenage girls, Abigail Williams and Liberty German went on a walk on a nearby trail in Delphi Indiana. As they cross the Monon High Bridge Trail, they come across a man demanding the girls to go down the trail. This is the last activity we know of for Abby and Libby. The next day, the two bodies were found half a mile from the bridge. We have video, two composite sketches, eyewitnesses, audio, and an image of their killer, but to this day he has not been identified. The case still remains unsolved, but investigators are determined it will not be a cold case as they still receive tips regularly. Welcome to Let’s Talk Crime. Someone yell "Pivot!" This week we switch things up a bit and talk about a local unsolved murder case. On February 14, 2017, Abby Williams and Libby German went for a walk on a local trail in Delphi, Indiana, and were never seen again. The following day their bodies were found, and so was Libby's cell phone. Libby had done an amazing thing and recorded their killer in secret on her cell phone. And the killer left it behind. But despite having audio and video of this piece of trash, authorities have still been unsuccessful in solving the crime, leaving more questions than answers. The Delphi case has fascinated people all over the world, including us. And while we don't have any new answers, and this killer or killers is still free, we try to remember the victims in this horrific case: Libby and Abby. Two best friends and very brave girls.https://www.news.com.au/world/north-america/eerie-photos-capture-teens-death-march-down-the-hill/news-story/7f904cd581f93d79a9b101c222eca21bhttps://ss-times.com/central-indiana-best-selling-true-crime-author-releases-book-about-unsolved-murders/https://www.talkmurderwithme.com/blog/2019/3/6/the-delphi-murdershttps://www.downthehillpodcast.com/

For this episode I spoke to Carrie, who is the mother of a teenager named Liberty Rose German. She went by Libby. On February 13th, 2017, Libby and her friend Abigail Williams were dropped off near the Monon High Bridge, just east of Delphi, Indiana. Unfortunately, the girls would never be seen alive again. The missing girls were found deceased on Feb. 14, 2017, around 50 feet from Deer Creek and a half mile east of the bridge on the Delphi Historic Trails in Carroll County, Indiana.February 14, 2020 will mark the three year anniversary of when the girls were found murdered. I asked Carrie about her relationship with her daughter Libby and about the investigation. Unfortunately, she still doesn’t know how her daughter died or what happened to her. Gangs and drugs effect nearly every community. But in 2012, the Dublin suburb of Tallaght was shocked by the spillover of violence. 16 year old Melanie McCarthy McNamara was shot while she sat in the back of a parked car on a residential street. The gunman had shot from the back of a black SUV and sped off immediately. Two men alleged to be involved in drugs locally were identified by gardai, and after protracted court battles have found themselves in prison in relation to Melanie's killing. Joe Peters is a natural man. What I mean by that is He spends a lot of time in natural settings, and creates music out of that natural spirit. His latest release "Prophetstown" is no exception. From a lilting, upbeat "Wanderlust Blues", to a personal vignette in "Mother and Her Sons", and the shameful history that inspired the title track, Joe covers the emotional bases. And to do it so well, he works with guitar wizard, studio chief Mike Kelsey. Kelsey is as flexible in the studio as he is crazy good on guitar. Both will be onstage at the beautifully renovated Delphi Opera House in Delphi Indiana on Nov. 3rd for a "Prophetstown" release show, as will a number of other musical friends. Joe spoke to us about the process of creating this one, and where to getcha some. (tickets here)
