I continue my conversation with Gilbert King, the host of Bone Valley, on the relationship that's developed between Jeremy Scott, the man who says he killed Michelle Schofield, and Leo Schofield, who was convicted of her murder. In Part 2 of this conversation, we discuss the evidence against Jeremy, his confession to another crime that could result in a death sentence, Leo's friends who were also inmates who watch over Jeremy and profound questions about the legacy of the Jim Crow South on its current criminal justice system and whether a person who cannot be rehabilitated to the point joining society can be redeemed.Contact me at silverliningshandbookpod@gmail.comCheck out the Silver Linings Handbook website at:https://silverliningshandbook.com/Check out our Patreon to support the show at:https://www.patreon.com/thesilverliningshandbookJoin our Facebook Group at:https://www.facebook.com/groups/1361159947820623Visit the Silver Linings Handbook store to support the podcast at:https://www.bonfire.com/store/the-silver-linings-handbook-podcast-storeVisit The True Crime Times Substack at:https://truecrimemessenger.substack.comThe Silver Linings Handbook podcast is a part of the ART19 network. One man was freed from prison for a murder he says he did not commit. Another man who will never get out is admitting to that murder, but authorities don't believe him. Gilbert King, the host of the hit podcast Bone Valley, joins me to discuss Season 2 and the relationship between Leo Schofield Jr., who was accused of killing his wife Michelle, and Jeremy Scott, the man who said he killed her. The lives of the two men open up questions about whether even those who cannot be rehabilitated can be redeemed and we discuss what it tells us about our history, our society and the power of forgiveness and love.Contact me at silverliningshandbookpod@gmail.comCheck out the Silver Linings Handbook website at:https://silverliningshandbook.com/Check out our Patreon to support the show at:https://www.patreon.com/thesilverliningshandbookJoin our Facebook Group at:https://www.facebook.com/groups/1361159947820623Visit the Silver Linings Handbook store to support the podcast at:https://www.bonfire.com/store/the-silver-linings-handbook-podcast-storeVisit The True Crime Times Substack at:https://truecrimemessenger.substack.comThe Silver Linings Handbook podcast is a part of the ART19 network. Sabrina Schnoor was a mom, a graduate of a high school in Owatonna, Minnesota and the kind of young woman who still loved to go fishing with her grandpa. On May 30, 2023, Sabrina agreed to meet her ex-boyfriend, Jason Horner, at his request for closure after they had recently broken up. When Sabrina did not return home, her friends tracked her using the Life360 app, and found her dead along railroad tracks underneath a highway overpass.A key piece of evidence was video of Horner, who had skated numerous times on domestic violence charges against multiple women, walking with Schnoor before her shooting and then him returning to the area again to retrieve a pack of cigarettes. Sabrina's friend, Teri Lyn Prestegard, joins me to discuss Sabrina's case, the problem of domestic violence perpetrators not facing consequences and efforts to change that. Teri Lyn is not just Sabrina's friend, but her own sister was also abused by Horner. Bob Aellis has beautiful memories of growing up in New York doing things like going to the zoo with his dad. But when his father died and his older brother, William, returned home, Bob's life became a hellscape, he says, as years of sexual abuse by William began. Later, Bob would find out that William had abused many children in the neighborhood and five decades later, he would realize that other children were at risk where William now lived in Florida. This began a daring effort to reverse-catfish William and set a trap. The effort, by Bob and other family members, put them at risk but it paid off when the FBI picked up their work and William was convicted of possession of child pornography in 2018, six decades after Bob and other family members say William's reign of terror began. In this episode, Bob tells the story of the “Monster in the Closet” and his work now to advocate for those who are suffering from childhood sexual abuse.Contact me at silverliningshandbookpod@gmail.comCheck out the Silver Linings Handbook website at:https://silverliningshandbook.com/Check out our Patreon to support the show at:https://www.patreon.com/thesilverliningshandbookJoin our Facebook Group at:https://www.facebook.com/groups/1361159947820623Visit the Silver Linings Handbook store to support the podcast at:https://www.bonfire.com/store/the-silver-linings-handbook-podcast-store/The Silver Linings Handbook podcast is a part of the ART19 network.
