It's News Day Tuesday! Sam and Emma break down the biggest headlines of the day. First, they run through updates on the subpoena of Donald Trump, E. Jean Carroll's new charges against Trump, a vehicular strike on the White House, the slow acceptance of greedflation theory by economic elites, and Ron DeSantis' police, also tackling Kevin McCarthy and Joe Biden agreeing on their desire to potentially agree to negotiate an agreement on the debt ceiling negotiation. Sam and Emma dive a little deeper into the absurd coverage of the greed factor in inflation, the lingering desire to make it seem like a fringe factor, and how to push the Fed to actually tackle this issue. They then parse through Minnesota's incredible progress with a trifecta and a one-seat Senate majority, walking through the history of the DFL, the incredible pro-labor legislation they're passing, and the importance of actually using power when you have it (*cough* national Democrats *cough*). And in the Fun Half: MR has some technical troubles (totally unrelated to the gerontocratic control of the studio), they watch Newsmax talking heads demean Fox for following the same human rights laws that they – as residents of NYC – also must follow, and Ren from Oregon dives into the private debt issue in the US. Mike from Portland solves Sam's computer issues, William from Portland reflects on the legacy of Michael Brooks, and Greg from Beaumont dives into tacit collusion, before Brian from Germany parses through some crazy attacks on mutual aid activism in North Carolina. Mississippi schools crack down on any non-normative gender expression, and Tusli runs to the defense of killer Daniel Penny, plus, your calls and IMs! Trevor Loudon exposes how communists and Marxists have taken over the state of Minnesota. The socialist takeover started many years ago, in 1905, when thousands of communists fled Finland and settled in northern Minnesota. This movement has been growing and influencing politicians and legislation ever since, with influential characters like Mark Ritchie and Paul Wellstone. Communist comrades have ties to the Labor Party, which is now Democratic–Farmer–Labor (DFL), and influence politicians at all levels of government, from city councils to the Senate and the governor's office. In addition to the many communist front organizations like the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA), leftist groups have adopted Agenda 2030. They are pushing left-wing policies at every level throughout the state. This is why the Minnesota legislature introduces radical laws and imposes left-wing ideology onto culture. These policies are meant to advance communism in the Midwest. ⭕️ Watch in-depth videos based on Truth & Tradition at Epoch TV

Things have been difficult for Bayern Munich lately; not even Thomas Tuchel (despite his questionable choices) can deny that. Today was yet another day of hard work, grind and careless errors but Bayern won and made it two consecutive wins — the opposition teams were rather poor in both the games but you can only play the fixtures the DFL sets in the order they set them. In this podcast, we look back on the game and discuss the following: The points tally for previous champions Why Serge Gnabry should not be sold Werder Bremen's deficiencies that allowed Bayern to win this game Bayern's good performers on the day Thomas Müller's absence in the starting lineup A look around the Bundesliga and what took place this weekend Be sure to stay tuned to Bavarian Podcast Works for all of your up to date coverage on Bayern Munich and Germany. The Minnesota House is set to vote April 26 on a sweeping health bill. It's the chamber's big health care budget bill and among many of the provisions in it, one includes a public option for MinnesotaCare. Right now, people who make less than about $27,000 per year are eligible for that public insurance option. But this bill would let anyone opt in to get coverage, as long as they pay premiums. Representative Tina Liebling is the DFL chair of the Minnesota Health Finance and Policy committee and she joined MPR News host Cathy Wurzer to talk about it.

For this very important episode about transit funding, John has a conversation with Peter Wagenius, legislative director at the Sierra Club North Star Chapter. You may have heard about the Minnesota House version of a transportation bill that passed with a .75% metro area sales tax. Peter explains why a sales tax targeted at the metro area is the smart way to fund transit and how legislative inaction going back to 2013 has left us playing catch up. That ongoing source of revenue for transit is essential to fully funding reliable, frequent bus rapid transit service in the Twin Cities region. As the Minnesota Senate takes up their version of a transportation bill with just a .5% sales tax, you and your suburban friends and family need to be calling your state senators. Transportation is Minnesota's number 1 source of climate pollution. We know electrification won't save us. Vehicle miles traveled are rising faster than our population. Car dominance is creating equity and livability concerns. With the DFL controlling the House, Senate, and the Governor's office, Peter says now's the time: "Climate, equity, public health, it's all served by making this happen." The Minnesota legislature has passed a bill that protects people who come to the state for gender-affirming care. Gov. Tim Walz is expected to sign that bill into law later this week. Minnesota joins Colorado, Illinois, Maryland and New Mexico, which have passed similar bills this year. Meanwhile, Minnesota's neighbors — Iowa, North Dakota and South Dakota — have banned gender-affirming care for minors, claiming that this kind of care causes irreparable harm. MPR News host Angela Davis speaks with one of the authors of Minnesota's bill and a physician who provides gender-affirming care to children and teenagers. Plus, we hear from teenage transgender Minnesotans about why the gender-affirming bill matters to them. Guests: Dana Ferguson is a politics reporter with MPR News. Rep. Leigh Finke is a DFL lawmaker in the Minnesota House of Representatives, representing St. Paul. She is also the author of the trans refuge bill in the House of Representatives. Dr. Angela Kade Goepferd is Medical Director of the Gender Health Program at Children's Minnesota. They are also the system's Chief Education Office. The Legislature has spent much of this week passing elements of a new two-year state budget. They're working off a base of the current $52 billion budget and looking to add the $17.5 billion surplus to it. The House and Senate plans do not line up perfectly, and conference committees will have to work out the differences. MPR News guest host Brian Bakst talks about the state budget under construction at the Capitol with two leading DFL lawmakers who have their eyes on the big picture and a Republican who says the pace of spending is unsustainable. Later in the hour, a recap of the governor's State of the State speech and look at the busy week ahead. Guests: Sen. John Marty, DFL-Roseville Rep. Liz Olson, DFL-Duluth Rep. Anne Neu Brindley, R-North Branch Dana Ferguson is a politics reporter for MPR News. Peter Callaghan is a state government reporter for the MinnPost. There are a lot of moving parts at the state legislature with a little over a month left to go in the session. State lawmakers are expected to hash out the details of that bill in committee this week. The DFL budget has increased the higher education budget by $650 million. But the chambers of the legislature disagree on how to use that money. On Tuesday, the Senate passed its version of the bill which would make tuition to public colleges and universities free for anyone whose family makes less than $80,000 per year. The House took a different approach in its bill, which passed a week ago. DFL Representative Gene Pelowski of Winona was the author of the House bill, and he joined MPR News guest host Emily Bright to talk about what comes next.
Tuesday, April 18th is tax day – the last day to file your returns. It's the time of year when many of us have how much we pay in taxes top-of-mind. Right now, the state legislature is considering a tax bill that could define what you pay for next year. Representatives in the house taxes committee spent the morning hearing from representatives of tribal nations, local governments, and advocacy groups on a DFL tax plan. The bill would send one-time payments to low- and middle-income earners and shield more retirees from paying taxes on their social security income. It also includes some property tax relief to offset rising prices. The bill also hikes taxes for some, by creating a so-called millionaire tax and requiring corporations to pay more for money they earn outside the country. All these points are central as lawmakers try to pass a budget in the next month. MPR News politics reporter Brian Bakst joined guest host Emily Bright to explain further.

In this episode Matt and Travis spend waaaaaay too much time talking about one match ... but what a match to talk about, eh?! Part One starts with some shout outs to OFC members, Gary Preston, and yet another VfB record that we somehow tie to Matt's ice hockey career. Part Two is a long-winded break down of what turned out to be the match of the weekend, VfB's improbable comeback against supposed title contenders BVB. The fellas wax poetic about how black and yellow were actually perfect opponents for the white and red, the play of Dan-Axel, Dino's double yellow, Hoeneß's half-time speech, VAR ruining Sehrou's day, the impact of Josha and Enzo, super subs Tanguy and Silas, and the amazing - once again - home support. In Part Three, the big News and Headlines of the day are pondered as thanks are thrown out to the DFL for moving around the relegation playoff dates in case VfB makes it to the Pokal final while more eyebrows are raised at some of Alex Wehrle's question answering ability... or lack thereof. Speaking of questions, some great ones are tossed around, including thoughts on the team's mentality, what has the new manager changed that's led to this successful run, could Silas' goal be the momentum shift to change his season, and just how good is the man of the hour, Josha Vagnoman. Episode 81 wraps up with a look at the upcoming road match versus the Mighty Flaming Pineapples, otherwise known as FC Augsburg, where the boys in the brustring haven't enjoyed too many away wins. But that doesn't stop Matt and Travis from being overly optimistic anyway! Introduction: 0:00-1:33 Part 1: Shout Outs - 1:43-6:18 Part 2: VfB:BVB -6:28-40:55 Part 3: News, Headlines, Questions & Answers 41:05-57:05 Part 4: FCA:VfB - 57:05-end

Well kids, another DNF in the books and I have to say we learned a lot about our training and endurance during our 50k attempt this past weekend. We both made it to mile 21. Cranky's ankles literally seized up at 19 and Tumbles' time was increasingly getting longer and longer where she would have definitely be DFL (dead freaking last, by a long time). Not that would have been the worst thing in the world, but stopping before an injury is definitely preferable. Yanto Barker began racing at 15. Some people would say he stared late. But by the time he was 18 he was a junior national champion. He got picked up by the GB national team which helped him transition into the U23 ranks seamlessly. He did the U23 worlds multiple times. He even moved to France to race. Riding for three separate teams. Yanto turned pro for DFL in 2005. Yet in 2006 he retired. His love of cycling and racing brought him back in 2009. At first he raced as an independent for a company he created called "Le Col." From that point on he sponsored every pro team he raced for with his premium clothing company. Genius. Once back racing full time he was doing races like Kurne Brussels Kurne, the Dubai Tour to the Rutland Classic. In 2016 he decided it was time to move on and pursue his goals in business. In comes "Le Col," his clothing line he had been working on since 2008. Le Col is now one of the top premium cycling clothing lines in the world. Le Col currently is the clothing sponsor of the World Tour team Bora Hansgrohe.
