In this week's episode on the She Lives Fearless Podcast, Hosts Holly Newton and Dina Gonsar chat with Bob and Linda Lotich - authors of Simple Money, Rich Life.Once they combined their financial messes, Bob and Linda spent the next couple years paying off their $46k of debt in their first years of marriage. Then at age 31 they began “giving their age” as a percentage of their income (31% at the time) and increasing each year. While this should have slowed their progress towards their goal of paying off their mortgage, they found that just 10 months later their mortgage was paid in full. As they continued to stretch in their giving they reached their biggest financial victory yet: giving away $1 million dollars by age 40. Now Bob and Linda teach others the principles, mindsets, and specific strategies needed to experience true financial freedom (how to have more money without it having you) in order to make an impact on the world around them. They have been featured in numerous publications and on various podcasts and television shows. They also have their own podcast entitled, “Seed Time Money,” where they share their experiences and skills with listeners. Simple Money, Rich Life!!   Hey Friends!! This week's guest conversation is one that definitely has the potential to impact a big part of your life…your money.   My guest this week is Bob Lotich, author of the book, Simple Money, Rich Life. Bob found himself at his breaking point in his early 20's overwhelmed by debt and stranded 1,000 miles from home with only $7 to his name. After crying out to God for wisdom and discovering a simpler (and far more effective) approach to money he reached a level of financial freedom he never dreamed possible: having a paid off house by age 31 and even reaching a personal goal of giving $1 million by age 40.   For the last 15 years he's shared his best lessons with over 52 million readers and listeners on his award-winning blog, SeedTime.com and SeedTime Money Podcast.   We talk about that rough start and what led him to finally turn to God for help with his finances, and we also talk about the radical steps of faith God has called Bob and his wife Linda to in their giving.   Be sure to check out the links below to connect with Bob on his website, grab your copy of his new book, and to check out his podcast.   Website: https://www.seedtime.com Book: Simple Money, Rich Life Podcast: SeedTime Money Instagram: @seedtime   Thank you for listening! Are you ready to laugh and learn how to have a rich life while making a Kingdom impact? My conversation with Bob and Linda Lotich will have you jumping out of your seat, asking how you can change your life and others by using what God has placed in your hands. Bob and Linda believe that true financial freedom is less about yachts and private islands and more about being free to fulfill your God-given calling. Money is simply a tool God provides to help us do the task He has given us. This belief has allowed them to do unbelievable things like paying off their mortgage in three years and giving away 1 million dollars. And you can do these crazy things, too, with the simple methods they've created, tested, and used to live a life with eternal impact. These are the same simple methods they shared with me and in their new book Simple Money, Rich Life.  So pull up a seat, get ready to laugh, and learn some kingdom-impact goodness.  FAITH AND GATHER INSTAGRAM:  https://www.instagram.com/faithandgather/  FAITH AND GATHER FACEBOOK: https://www.facebook.com/faithandgather  FAITH INSPIRED SHOW NOTES: https://faithinspiredpodcast.com/2022/08/16/how-to-achieve-financial-freedom-without-sacrificing-what-you-love/  Rate, Review, & Follow on Apple Podcasts "Wow. Key Takeaways    Acts of obedience can result in miracles, adventures, and boldness they've experienced as a family. Transparent money management can be the best instruction for kids. What children learn from their parents is more "caught than taught." The importance of being transparent with your children about finances far exceeds putting up a wall and believing it isn't beneficial. It's beneficial for both spouses to be involved in finances.      dadAWESOME   We're on a mission to add LIFE to the dad life. We're passionate about helping dads live fully alive as they lead their kids to God's awesomeness.  | YouTube |  Instagram | Facebook   Bob Lotich   Bob and his wife, Linda, live in Franklin, TN with their three children. Author of "Simple Money, Rich Life", Host of SeedTime Money podcast, and creator of the 'Real Money Method' - a quicker and easier alternative to traditional budgeting that has built-in accountability.    Key Quotes (Full Transcript of the Conversation Here)   3:22 -  "...if I look back at our life and a lot of the miracles that have happened, a lot of the crazy things that God has brought us on, adventures that He's led us on, it has been through acts of obedience. When he's invited us to do something to step out into something... It'd be more comfortable to not do that... I want to be someone who is always running in that direction." 04:01 -" I want to raise kids who... just aren't bound up by fear, but have that boldness like David did in the face of whatever the obstacle of challenges." 4:48 - "every time he goes into kids church... they invite one of the kids to pray over the offering. And apparently our son goes up there every single week and asks to pray for the offering." 7:06 - "I talk to people all the time who come up to me and say, my dad said that we don't talk about money in our house... intentionally put a wall up and said, we're not going to talk about this. That seems like such a terrible idea to me, because the truth of the matter is... if we're not getting financial education from our homes, we're not learning it in school... our churches will teach us about giving in and I think a lot of them do a good job on that, but they're not teaching us how to actually manage our money so that we actually have more to give. And so what happens is we have this void of a lack of financial education. And so then what happens is our education and our beliefs about money come from places that... aren't even trying to teach us about it... We're looking at Instagram influencers or learning from credit card companies or all of these places where they may not be explicitly teaching us about money." 9:00- "...just talking through that in earshot of them, because, again, a lot of this is more caught than taught. And so we might as well just let them hear what's going on and let it start rubbing off on them. And I think that's one of the best things that we can do as dads." 15:17 - "... so it was two weeks later after I said yes to God and decided, okay, I'm going to take the rest as a year off. We got a call from the adoption agency... but we actually have a little girl who was born last night down in Alabama... Linda and I prayed for about 30 seconds... all right, let's go get our daughter." 19:59 - "it offends me that if you look at the Forbes 400... the vast majority of the people, that are top of the list, they're not serving the kingdom. It's like, that's why not." 21:40 - John Wesley quote "I earn as much as I can by writing and speaking... I save... And what he meant by that was, I reduce my expenses, I eliminate waste. I just cut out any wasteful, unnecessary spending... I save as much as I can so that I can give as much as I possibly can." 25:34 - "We call it our AUM, or Assets Under Management instead of net worth for two quick reasons. I don't like the term net worth when we're talking about our worth as believers... in light of what Jesus did, there's no number that defines that, whether it's high or low... But the other reason we call it Assets Under Management is that it's a reminder... that everything that we have our house, our cars, the money in our account, our kids... we're managers of all of it. 27:19 - "I felt God said, why don't you just track your giving? And so we created what we call our net given, which is basically just a sheet where we have tracked pretty much everything we've given since we got married." 30:47 - "... What I would say is we started moving forward faster when both of us were in it together, when both of us were aware of what was going on."   Conversation Links   Bob's Organization: SeedTime Bob's Book - Simple Money, Rich Life Bob's Podcast - The SeedTime Money Podcast Bob's Courses - Real Money Method 3.0 10X Investing The 5 Biggest Money Mistakes   Links from dadAWESOME   https://dadawesome.org/life/ Make a Donation to dadAWESOME Join the dadAWESOME Prayer Team https://dadawesome.org/tour/

Money can sometimes be that awkward or intimidating topic to address, both with your kids and your wife. And some of that may be because of the beliefs you have about money. To dive deeper into this issue Bob Lotich joins the show today. Bob is an author, podcast host, and founder of the award winning blog SeedTime. He's also a father and husband and knows first hand what it means to break unhealthy beliefs and form new ones. And today he's enjoying the work of helping others do the same. Website:  https://seedtime.com  Book:  Simple Money, Rich Life Podcast:  SeedTime Money Free Resource: Giving Tracking Tool Expanded Notes: Without dad's involvement, kids will get their financial education from other voices We inherit many beliefs — healthy and unhealthy — from our parents 2 big common problems within the church: believing wealth equals righteousness and believing poverty equals piety; A better way is to view money as a tool What is your definition of financial success? Does it align more with the world's view or God's view? Suggestion for making giving more fun: track it. When it comes to money tension with your wife,  fight to get on the same page together, to be in unity look for what's right or beneficial in her approach and be open to what's wrong or missing with your approach find a way to make talking about money more fun discover what's important to her and converse about ways to get there When it comes to debt, rather than good vs bad, a better approach is to really question your motive, which comes back to your heart As a dad, find ways for your kids to watch, listen and learn about money from how you work through this with your wife and in your family Ideas for you to help your son with money include, help him see he doesn't have to spend every dollar he gets pay or reward him for the work he does for you help him discover an excitement to save and to give let him make mistakes and learn from them

Bob Lotich is a friend I've known for years. His book, “Simple Money, Rich Life” doesn't have much to do with real estate, but it sure does talk about money. You could be making a ton of money in your real estate business but if you're not living a rich life, you're going to be miserable. Bob has a whole section in his book dedicated to a principle he calls the logic method of giving. He's increased his giving so much over the years and it's always come back to him in ways he never imagined possible.Bob and his wife almost lost it all and asked God for guidance on how to turn it all around. The rest was history and they've gone on to do amazing things for themselves and others. Bob started educating himself with every book he could get his hands on, including the Bible. He also created a successful blog called SeedTime.com where he shares tips on how you too can find financial freedom and live a rich life. Bob offers some spectacular advice on how to simplify your finances, live a debt-free life, and make a ton of money, all while giving a ton away to others. What's Inside:—How Bob and his wife turned their financial life around.—Tips on how to simplify your finances and get out of debt.—How increasing your giving can increase your own abundance.
