Introduco questo musicista di Madrid a chi non lo conosce. Si chiama Anton Alvarez Alfaro, classe 1990. In questo momento è fra i più famosi cantanti spagnoli, che fa riferimento a tantissimi generi musicali, fra cui anche il flamenco (altrimenti non starebbe in questo podcast!) e che piace a generazioni diverse di spettatori.Curiosamente, ha più volte cambiato il proprio nome artistico, da Agorazein, che significa andare a zonzo per la città, a Crema, a Pucho (nomignolo che veniva usato nella sua famiglia), a C. Tangana, C. per ricordare il nome precedente, Crema, e Tangana perché gli piaceva il suono, racconta in una intervista. Tangana significa polverone, tafferuglio, baruffa. Anche il significato, quindi può avere un senso per lui. La sua carriera musicale inizia nel 2008, annusando vari generi musicali, con il gruppo Agorazein. La musica è un divertimento importante ma non centrale nella vita. Nel 2015 decide di saltare al professionismo e si innamora della bella voce di Rosalia (ne parlo in un altro podcast). Decide di voler collaborare con lei. Dalla collaborazione con Rosalia, che diventa anche un connubio personale, producono due singoli interessanti, che avranno un discreto successo (all'epoca nessuno dei due artisti aveva la fama che hanno oggi!) "Llamame mas tarde", un brano romantico ed orecchiabile, ma quello più interessante è sicuramente "Antes de morirme" usato anche nella colonna sonora del film "Hasta el cielo". Questo tema ha fatto conoscere sempre di più la voce di Tangana. Nel periodo della relazione con Rosalia, Tangana collabora alla produzione del cd di Rosalia El Mal Querer, in 8 brani su 11. La cantante non lo nomina nei suoi ringraziamenti, mentre Tangana racconta di aver collaborato al disco ma ammette pubblicamente che il merito sia di Rosalia. Probabilmente la cantante era un po' arrabbiata con lui... ma questo è gossip. Torniamo al flamenco! E' ovvio che Tangana abbia collaborato a questo disco dato che i due musicisti erano insieme e lavoravano insieme per molto tempo, e la produzione del disco è durata molto a lungo. Nel 2017 produce l'album "Idolo", un mix di musica elettronica, musica latina, reggaeton, in cui racconta il percorso con cui si diventa un idolo, e si sente come il "Vitello d'oro", che veniva adorato solo perché era un idolo e non perché avesse valori in particolare!Produce molti singoli di sperimentazioni fondendo vari generi musicali. La svolta avviene con il disco "El madrileno" che è sicuramente la sua opera più interessante. In questo disco Tangana mette insieme repertori tradizionali di varie provenienze, molto diversi fra loro, fra i quali il flamenco. Tutti i generi musicali che lui usa non sono finalizzati ad espandere il genere musicale in questione, ma in modo molto personale.Tangana non conosce il flamenco direttamente, così come non conosce ad esempio la Bossa Nova, ma si affida a professionisti del settore. Collabora quindi con i Gipsy Kings, nel tema "ingovernable" (i Gipsy Kings aprono un universo di ricordi a tutti gli ascoltatori!). In questo brano Tangana canta usando il modo flamenco, ma sempre con l'autotune come fanno i musicisti di musica urbana di oggi. In altri temi del disco, quando la melodia diventa più flamenca, come in "Tu me dejaste de querer", fa riferimento alle riunioni familiari, con festa flamenca, senza impegno ma con la gioia della festa. Senza farsi troppe domande, ma continua a divertirsi. Si avvale della collaborazione di La Hungara, che fa un flamenco pop, ma è molto orecchiabile ed entusiasmante. Ed ha un modo di fare molto flamenco! Collabora anche con El Nino de Elche, che essendo nato ad Elche... è valenciano, nato vicino ad Alicante. E' molto esperto nel flamenco, he ha studiato a lungo e con attenzione. Ad un certo punto El Nino de Elche ha cominciato ad esplorare al di là del flamenco tradizionale. Suona anche la chitarra, nel disco! Altro elemento interessante nel disco è la tastiera e la voce del tastierista Alizz, modificata con il vocorder, che si presta molto bene alla rumba!In un altro brano del disco, "Los Tontos" Tangana lavora con Kiko Veneno, chitarra e voce, uno dei musicisti del flamenco nuevo degli anni '90. Oggi Tangana è una delle voci più in voga, ma resta coinvolgente e gentile: vuole collaborare con gioia e benessere con gli altri artisti. Non è qualcuno che abbia per forza voglia di sfondare! Altro brano di Tangana interessante per il flamenco è "Me maten", del 2021, in cui Tangana collabora con Antonio Carmona, il leader dei Ketama, con Kiko Veneno, La Hungara El nino de Elche, tutte persone ben radicate nel flamenco. Il brano è molto flamenco, e ci fa sentire l'atmosfera. Gli interessa creare una collaborazione che faccia star bene, che crei il senso della festa. Collabora con il musicista Omar Montes, con il brano "La Culpa" e l'ultimissima collaborazione: "Una y mil veces", che sono temi molto orecchiabili, non di grande valore artistico. Lo scopo è dare il clima della festa, è gioia di vivere e voglia di stare insieme creati attraverso la musica. Tangana aggiunge il suo canto fatto con l'autotune alla festa flamenca! Rimane sempre umile, gentile, accogliente, e questa probabilmente è la chiave del suo successo. Non ha voglia di sfondare ad ogni costo, ma lo fa con serenità. Molti dei suoi fans fino a quel punto erano abituati a Bachata, Reggaeton e altre cose, ma trovando flamenco nei suoi dischi si sono incuriositi rispetto al flamenco. L'arte è qualcosa di personale e non si può essere troppo stretti su questo. Il flamenco jondo fa fatica ad entrare nelle orecchie di un inesperto, che invece può appassionarsi entrando da una porta secondaria, e trovarsi così, catapultato alla ricerca del flamenco! Sono Sabina Todaro, mi occupo di flamenco dal 1985, dal 1990 insegno baile flamenco a Milano. Mi interessa C. Tangana perché ha portato molte persone giovani al flamenco. Ad un certo punto, ascoltando questo cantante, queste persone si sono trovate nel mondo flamenco. Non è nelle finalità di Tangana far conoscere il flamenco e neanche collaborare con le migliori voci del flamenco. Ha infatti utilizzato le collaborazioni con le persone che... piacevano a lui, in maniera personale e soggettiva, finalizzando il tutto alla propria ricerca musicale e al piacere di fare ciò che gli piace!Una musica più leggera e comprensibile ci può portare alla scoperta del flamenco!

Other stuff . . . for some reason we talk about how gold is calcified Jesus pee. We explain the slang 'no cap' and half explain 'ops'. The origin of the word 'glitch' and 'bug'. As usual, we did a lot of research and incorporated like 10% of it into the episode very ineffectually. We do say the F word a few times here so I'm marking it explicit, but it's otherwise really tame and nice.
