Bernd Meinunger was a song producer and lyricist and had successes with 18 of his creations in the Eurovision Song Contest including Germany's first winning song performed by Nicole entitled "Ein bisschen Frieden" at the Eurovision Song Contest 1982. The lyrics were written by Bernd Meinunger and Ralph Siegel wrote the music. All in all Bernd Meinunger wrote about 5500 songs from the the 1970s until 2025. Sadly, he passed away on 17 Oct 2025. Due to the sad news Radio International will remember Bernd Meinunger during this week's edition of the show by playing all his 18 Eurovision entries which were mainly for Germany but also for Luxembourg, San Marino, Switzerland and Montenegro.  Rest in Peace:  Dr. Bernd Meinunger 30 Sep 1944 - 17 Oct 2025.       The Eurovision Spotlight - The history of Austria at the Eurovision Song Contest:  It is Autumn 2025 it also time for the traditional look at the next host country's Eurovision Song Contest entries. JJ won Eurovision 2025 and with that Austria will host the Eurovision Song Contest 2026 in the Wiener Stadthalle on 12 and 14 May 2026 for the two Semi Finals and the Grand Finale to take place on Saturday, 16 May 2026. Over the next weeks and before the National Final Season for 2026, Radio International's team members will be reviewing all the Eurovision entries from Austria. Earlier on in February 2025, Radio International conducted interviews with all the contestants at the Malta Eurovision Song Contest 2025 and more.   Kantera (Malta Eurovision Song Contest 2025) This week, Radio International will broadcast an interview with Kantera who took part in the Malta Eurovision Song Contest 2025. Kantera are a very successful Maltese Band with great results in the Muzika Muzika competition which celebrates the Maltese Song. The song Kantera competed with in the Malta Eurovision Song Contest 2025 is called "Lalaratatakeke lalaratakabum " and succsessfully qualified from Semi Final 2 to the Grand Final of the Malta Eurovision Song Contest 2025 where at the end of the Voting Sequence ended up at Number 3.    Krista Sujak (Malta Eurovision Song Contest 2025) with JP The second artist from the Malta Eurovision Song Contest 2025 we feature on Radio International this week is Krista Sujak who is also a newcomer to the contest. Krista competed with the song entitled "Unheard" and qualified from Semi Final 2 to the Grand Final.  At the end of the Voting Sequence Krista's entry ranked at Number 7  in the Malta Eurovision Song Contest 2025. I don't remember which month. It was from Studio Aperto, the Italian program of Swiss Radio International, which airs on Sunday at 14 CET. They used to read listeners' letters and create mini-games. This was the first time they read one of my letters.

Inge represented Germany at the Eurovision Song Contest 1967 with the song "Anouschka" reaching Number 8. The contest was won by the United Kingdom's Sandi Shaw and "Puppet on a string". Radio International will broadcast a little tribute to Inge on the show this week and remember her entry to Eurovision 1967.   The Eurovision Spotlight: The Eurovision Song Contest 2025 - Eurovision's Magic Numbers:   With  the start of the Summer 2025 the Eurovision Spotlight Team Members decided to continue where the left off last year at the end of summer with Eurovision's Magic Numbers. Also representatives from Germany's Broadcaster ARD attended as well as concerts by former Eurovision performers such as Lou (Germany 2003), Pasha Parfeni (Moldova 2012 and 2023) and Alex Panayi (Cyprus 1995 and 2000) together with Philippos Constantinos, member of Group ONE representing Cyprus at the Eurovision Song Contest 2002 with the song "Gimme" which came 6th in the contest. Philippos has also been part of the performance of Alex Panayi at Eurovision.  Alexandros or Alex Panayi is THE Eurovision Legend from Cyprus and his involvement with the Eurovision Song Contest spans over four decades. He was the Lead Artist in 1995 on "Sti Fotia"(Number 9) and in 2000 on "Nomiza" (Number 20). As backing vocalist in 1989, 1991 and on the Eurovision Winning song "My Number One" for Elena Paparizou representing Greece in 2005.  He took part in the national finals in Cyprus in 1993, 1998 and 2009. He was stage director and vocal director. This does not stop here. All three singers previously participated in the Malta National Final to Eurovision in their own rights. Jessika represented San Marino at the Eurovision Song Contest 2018 together with her then singing partner Jennifer Brening performing the song "Who we are". Jessika had previously attempted to represent Malta every year from 2008 to 2017 and in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2004 with the song "Precious Time". Fabrizio Faniello represented Malta twice at the Eurovision Song Contest in 2001 and 2006 and Victorio previously entered the Malta Eurovision Song Contest back in 2009 with Dorothy on the song called "Promises".  JVF successfully could qualify for the Grand Final of the Malta Eurovision Song Contest 2025 out of Semi Final 1 and after the Voting sequence in the the Grand Final JVF's fun act reached Number 5. Senhit represented San Marino twice at the Eurovision Song Contest. In 2011 it was with "Stand By" which failed to qualify San Marino for the Grand Final of Eurovision 2011 reaching number 16 in Semi Final 1. Her second attempt was "Adrenalina" with which Senhit qualified San Marino for the Grand Final of the Eurovision Song Contes 2021 coming 22nd in Rotterdam. Susanne Georgi owns Stars Academy in Andorra and prepares many young artists for music events such as the Eurovision Song Contest. Together with her sister Susanne had a major European Pop Hit in 1995 as Me & My called "Dub-I-Du". In 2007 they participated in the Dansk Melodi Grand Prix (Danish National Final to Eurovision) reaching Number 6 with the song "Two Are Stronger than One". Susanne moved to Andorra and got married there and in 2009 she represented Andorra at the Eurovision Song Contest with the song "La teva decisió (Get a Life)", sadly failing to qualify for the Grand Final of the Eurovision Song Contest and marking Andorra's last ever entry to the Eurovision Song Contest. Susanne founded Stars Academy in Andorra and together with her working partner Francesca Aean have been coaching many singers including the young artists that competed in the national final in Luxembourg in 2024 and 2025. At the Eurovision Song Contest 2025 in Basel JP had the pleasure to meet Susanne and Francesca and conducted an interview aimed at her part in the Luxembourg Delegation. On the guest list was Bojana Stamenov (Serbia 2015), Marc Roberts (Ireland 1997),  Renanta Domkovska (Poland 1998), Marc Dietrich was Peter, Sue and Marc (Switzerland 1971, 1976, 1979 and 1981) as surprise guest and Gunvor (Switzerland 1998). In 2020, Destiny was selected by X-Factor Malta to represent Malta at the Eurovision Song Contest with the song "All of My Love". The Eurovision Song Contest 2020 was cancelled due to the Corona Pandemic and Destiny got the chance to represent Malta at Eurovision 2021. Their first participation was in 1971 with the song "Les illusion de nos vingt ans" placing Switzerland at Number 12. Then they returned five years later to the Eurovision Song Contest 1976 performing the song "Djambo, Djambo" bettering their results by reaching Number 4. Three years later, in 1979 they tried it again with the help Pfuri, Gorps and Kniri in "Troedler und Co" coming 10th and their final participation was in 1981 with their best results of their four participations reaching Number 4 with "Io senza te".  Radio International's Marc and JP had the pleasure of an interview with Marc Dietrich about their particpations in Eurovision and their career. Already her first Melodifestvalen entry was a success. Maria Sur qualified from the Heat into the Grand Final where she finished 9th with the song "Never give up".  In 2024, Maria Sur returned to Sweden's biggest music competition to select the entry to represent Sweden at the Eurovision Song Contest. Our dear colleague Alain Forrotti conducted the interview with Claude during the Eurovision Song Contest 2025 in Basel.   Go-Jo (Australia 2025) Interview with Go-Jo (Australia 2025): At the Australian Eurovision Party 2025 Radio International's Alain Forrotti met Go-Jo who represented Australia at the Eurovision Song Contest 2025 with the song "Milkshake Man". Unfortunately, Australia did not qualify for the Grand Final of the Eurovision Song Contest Grand Final as with 28 points it ranked Number 11 in Semi Final 2. Spain had a stage invasion by Jimmy Jump and France was represented by Jessy Matador with the song "Allez! Ola! Olé" coming 12th in the Grand Final. Katarsis (Lithuania 2025) at the Madrid PreParty 2025 Meet the Eurostars 2025 - Interview with Katarsis (Lithuania 2025):  Neighbouring to Latvia is Lithuania and Katarsis are four young musicians winning the Lithuanian National Final and representing their country at the Eurovision Song Contest 2025 in Semi Final 2 Song Number 8 entitled "Tavo Akys". Radio International met the young musicians at the recent edition of the Madrid PreParty 2025 to get to know Katarsis.       Songwriters Julien Salvia and Ludovic-Alexandre Vidal (Luxembourg 2025) with JP at Eurovision in Concert in Amsterdam   Meet the Eurostars 2025 - Interview with Songwriters Julien Salvia and Ludovic-Alexandre Vidal (Luxembourg 2025):  Luxembourg's second entry after returning for a long absence to the Eurovision Song Contest is performed by Laura Thorn in Semi Final 2 Song Number 13. The song is called "La poupée monte le son" written by two songwriters from France, Julien Salvia and Ludovic-Alexandre Vidal. Radio International already broadcast the interview with Laura previosuly, however, did not yet broadcast the interview with the creators of Luxembourg's entry 2025. Enjoy the interview and find out more about the creation of "La poupée monte le son".       Nina Žižić (Montenegro 2025) with Salman   Meet the Eurostars 2025 - Interview with Nina Žižić (Montenegro 2025):  Already in 2013 Nina Žižić represented Montenegro at the Eurovision Song Contest in Malmö as part of Who See performing the song "Igranka" being ahead of their time. Sadly the song only ended up at Number 12 in the first Semi Final . This time Nina is back after coming second in the Montenegri National Final 2024 as the winner declined to represent Montenegro at Eurovision 2025. Nina's entry is called "Dobrodošli" and will be in Semi Final 2 Song Number 2.
