For the very first time Bulgaria won the competiton with Dara and the song "Bangaranga" receiving a total amount of 516 points combined from Public and Jury Vote. The Radio International Team was on location and had the chance to interviews many of the artists at different places such as Turqoise Carpet, in the Media Centre, at the Embassies as well as in the Eurovillage. Full details can be viewed at our friends from Wikipedia - click here The Radio International Photo Album from the Eurovision Song Contest 2026 - CLICK HERE Martin Rolinski and Tess Merkel (Vienna, Austria 2026)   Interview with Tess Merkel (Alcazar) and Martin Rolinski (BWO):  A brand new project was born just before the Eurovision Song Contest 2026 in Vienna, Austria when Tess Merkel who was one of the members of Alcazar and Martin Rolinski who was one the lead singer of the Swedish group BWO (Body Without Organs) got together. They first project is called "Let there be love". Both Swedish artists came to Vienna to perform this song and also others in fron tof the many Eurovision Fans that have visited Vienna and the Eurovillage as part of the Eurovision Song Contest 2026. BWO had great hits and took part a few times in Melodifestivalen e.g. "Lay your love on me" and Alcazar had great successes in Melo and beyond as their biggest international hit is "Crying at the Discotheque". Radio International's JP had the honour and the pleasure to meet Tess and Martin in Vienna at the Eurovillage for an in-depth interview you will be able to hear on this week's edition of Radio International.  Lelek (Croatia 2026) Interview with Lelek (Croatia 2026):  What an amazing entry to the Eurovision Song Contest 2026 came from Croatia this year by girl group Lelek performing the song "Andromeda" reaching the Grand Final from the Semi Final and then at the end of the Voting Sequence reached Number 15. Radio International's Johannes had the chance to meet and interview with one of the members of Lelek before the Grand Final of the  contest this year. David Mann has never had a grand plan. What he has had is a willingness to follow the thread - to say yes to the next opportunity, trust the learning, and keep moving. From auctioneer to NSW Police Officer and court Prosecutor, to commercial lawyer, to 24 years leading billion-dollar consulting operations for Accenture across the UK, Asia Pacific and the Middle East, to CEO of Workplace Giving Australia, to now leading Tour de Cure as its CEO - David's story is one of the most compelling examples of career reinvention and non-linear leadership you will find. In this conversation, he takes us behind the decisions, the discipline, and the quiet conviction that has shaped a life built on purpose, stewardship and trusting the process. KEY HIGHLIGHTS 1. The police force was his first leadership school Before any boardroom, David Mann spent six years as an NSW Police Officer and court Prosecutor. He credits that time with teaching him the fundamentals of human behaviour - how to read a room, how to negotiate without igniting a situation, and how to understand that people do not all think the same way. He describes the best police as those who can defuse rather than escalate - a philosophy he carried directly into his leadership approach at Accenture and beyond. It is not a background most senior executives share. And it shows in how he leads. 2. He has never had a grand plan - and that was the strategy David said it plainly in this conversation: he has never had a grand plan. What drove every career decision instead was a simple filter - will this keep me learning and growing? He described his father's question that still shapes how he thinks: what is the point of working 48 weeks of the year in something you do not enjoy, just for four weeks of holiday? For anyone navigating their own non-linear career path, that question is a compass. Career reinvention, David says, is not a crisis. It is a choice. 3. Stewardship is the leadership principle he returns to again and again After 24 years at Accenture, David left deliberately - not because he had to, but because it had become routine. He recognised that a leader who has stopped being energised is a disservice to the people around them. He described stewardship as making other people successful and then getting out of their way. It is the leadership principle he applied to leaving Accenture, and the one he now applies every day at Tour de Cure. In a world that celebrates holding on, David makes a quiet case for knowing when to let go. 4. Tour de Cure - from bikes to a national cancer research force David joined the Tour de Cure board in 2014 as a volunteer, and became CEO in October 2024. When he arrived, Tour de Cure was built around one thing: riding. Bike tours were the centrepiece and the identity. Today, riding represents only about 10% of what the organisation does. Over 20,000 of its 25,000 annual participants now come through runs, walks, swims and gala events - a deliberate diversification David helped drive from the board before stepping into the CEO seat. Tour de Cure has funded over 1,300 research projects, contributed to more than 250 world-class medical breakthroughs, and currently sponsors approximately 130 PhD students. David is clear: researchers will find cures for cancer. The only thing that will stop them is lack of funding. 5. Kindness has been a thread through everything When asked where kindness had shown up across his career, David Mann did not reach for a corporate example. He talked about his parents, his friends, and the people around him who were never just in it for themselves. He describes kindness not as a soft leadership idea but as a practical force - and it is part of why he joined My Acts of Kindness alongside his work at Tour de Cure. For David, leading with kindness and leading seriously are not in tension. They are the same thing.   David Mann did not set out to build an impressive career. He set out to keep learning, keep growing, and be around people who were doing the same. The titles and the scale came as a by-product of that orientation - not the other way around. What this conversation leaves you with is something quieter and more useful than career advice: the reminder that the path does not have to be linear to be right, that stewardship matters more than status, and that career reinvention is not something that happens to you. Cʹest le deuxième long-métrage de Steven Spielberg, et son premier succès, une histoire de camion, de voiture, de poursuite, un film angoissant tiré dʹune nouvelle de Richard Matheson qui en écrit le scénario. Ce film cʹest Duel, un téléfilm pour la chaîne ABC, diffusé en 1971 à la télévision sous la bannière : ABC Movie of the Week. Un programme hebdomadaire avec des téléfilms produit avec un petit budget par des réalisateurs talentueux. Et talentueux, on sait quʹil lʹest Monsieur Spielberg puisque le film conquiert lʹEurope, puis gagne le Grand Prix du Festival International du Film Fantastique à Avoriaz en 1973. Après avoir reçu ce prix que le téléfilm devient un film. Duel est agrémenté dʹautres scènes, allongé de 16 minutes pour atteindre 90 minutes, et finit par passer au cinéma. Il y rencontre un joli succès dʹestime. Il a coûté 450'000 dollars et en rapporte dans le monde 6 millions. Pas mal pour un tout jeune réalisateur de 25 ans qui pour lʹinstant nʹest passé que par quʹun long-métrage " maison " à 17 ans et par la case télévision. Mais que raconte Duel ? Pas grand-chose pourtant : cʹest lʹhistoire dʹun représentant de commerce, joué par Dennis Weaver, dont la vie est menacée par un poids lourd, fumant et rugissant : tout le film consiste en une longue course-poursuite sur les routes des déserts de Californie. Ce qui est intéressant cʹest le traitement qui en est fait, sa qualité plastique, la force de sa narration et lʹangoisse qui sourd de chaque plan. Cʹest ce qui fait Duel ouvre les portes des studios hollywoodien au réalisateur. Spielberg fera la longue et fascinante carrière quʹon lui connaît. Il ne nous reste plus quʹà monter avec lui dans la voiture de David Mann et à espérer que nous sortirons vivants de ce drôle de jeu de chat et de souris sur roues. The Radio International Interview Team met Satoshi at the Turquoise Carpet. Part of Satoshi's performance was also previous Eurovision entrant Aliona Moon who in 2013 reached Number 11 with the song "O Mie". Radio International has the big pleasure to be having Satoshi live on the show this week for an in-depth interview and the latest song release. Alexandra Capitanescu (Romania 2026) in Vienna   Interview with Alexandra Capitanescu (Romania 2026):  What an amazing result for the returning Romania to the Eurovision Song Contest 2026: Number 3 for the third time and so far Romania's best result in the contest. In 2005, Luminita Anghel & Sistem came third with "Let me try", and also in 2010 Paula Seling & Ovi took Romania to Number 3 with the song "Playing with Fire".  2023 was the last time that Romania took part in Eurovision until their return in 2026 with a banger. "Choke me" performed by Alexandra Capitanescu and her band reaching Number 3. Eva Marija represented Luxembourg at Eurovision 2026 with the song "Mother Nature" sadly only ending up at Number 12 in Semi Final 20 with 60 points though, the song has a strong message as Eva Marija explains to the Radio International Interview Team at the Turquoise Carpet. But also Alain Forrotti had the pleasure of a more in-depth interview with Eva Marija which you can hear on this week's edition of Radio International this week.  Cosmó, Akylas and Leléka at Eurovision 2026   Interview Clips from the Turquoise Carpet (Cosmó), Akylas, Leléka): The Turqoise Carpet marks the start of the Welcome Ceremony of the Eurovision Song Contest. The Eurovision Artists walk the carpet in front of the many Eurovision Fans and International Media who conduct short interview clips with the artists. This week listen to the interview clips JP, Marc and Salman did with Cosmó (Austria), Akylas (Greece) and Leléka (Ukraine). The Host Entry from Austria was performed by Cosmó called "Tanzschein" which reached Number 24 in the Grand Final. Leléka represented the Ulraine with the song "Ridnym" coming 9th in the Grand Final and Akylas was the musical ambassador from Greece and performed the song "Ferto" which reached Number 10. This week Alasdair Rendall continues the series looking at the Eurovision Song Contest 2026.     Tribute to Pierre Cao, Sophie Garel and Romuald:  Once again sad news hit the Eurovision Community during the month of May as three artists passed away. Pierre Cao was a very famous conductor at the Eurovision Song Contest conducting among others Luxembourg's winning song "Tu te reconnaitras" performed by Anne Marie David. He was also the Musical Director at the Eurovision Song Contests in 1973 and 1974. Pierre Cao passed away on 14 May 2026 at the age of 88. Then Sophie Garel passed away who together with her singing partner Chris Baldo represented Luxembourg at the Eurovision Song Contest 1968 with the song "Nous vivrons d'amour". Sophie passed away on 14 May 2026 at the age of 84. And Romuald Figuier passed away on 12 May 2026 at the age of 88 represented although being French Monaco at the Eurovision Song Contest 1964 with the song "Ou sont-elles passees" coming 3rd. Pagecast recorded live at the Kingsmead Book Fair, where David Mann sat down with Maryam Adams from Jonathan Ball Publishers to discuss his debut short fiction collection, Once Removed. In this episode, David reflects on the stories behind the collection -- a sharply observed body of work that has already made its mark on the South African literary landscape. David Mann is an award-winning writer, editor, and art critic who has written and edited for numerous art publications. He currently works as writer for the arts incubator The Centre for the Less Good Idea, and is a co-founder of Writers' Block, a Johannesburg-based arts writing collective. His short stories have appeared in local and international journals including Strange Matters (USA), Portside Review (AU), and Imbiza Journal (SA), among others. Once Removed was published in 2024 by Botsotso. It won the Thomas Pringle Short Story Prize and was shortlisted for both the NHISS Award and the Nadine Gordimer Award for best short story collection. Once Removed is available now at all good bookstores.

In 2026, ESSYLA represented Belgium at the Eurovision Song Contest with the song "Dancing on the Ice" successfully qualifying Belgium to the Grand Final reaching Number 21. Bzikebi performed "On Replay" reaching Number 15 in Semi Final 1.  Listen to these interview clips on the show this week.   Christer Börkman with JP Eurovision Song Contest 2026 - Asia: Interview with Christer Börkman:  During the Eurovision Song Contest 2026 and a Media Briefing it was announced that that Eurovision Song Contest 2026 - Asia will be taking place in Bangkok, Thailand on 24 Nov 2026. The venue is IdeaLive and so far these countries are competing in the very first edition of the contest:  Bangladesh, Bhutan, Cambodia, Laos, Malaysia, Nepal, Philippines, South Korea, Thailand and Vietnam (more countries will be added). One of the creative minds behind this new project is Christer Bjoerkman who himself represented Sweden at the Eurovision Song Contest 1992 and created Sweden's National Selection to the Eurovision Song Contest - Melodifestivalen in the form as we know it today. Christer retired from Melodifestivalen but still is part of the Eurovision Family now creating Eurovision Song Contest - Asisa. For the very first time Bulgaria won the competiton with Dara and the song "Bangaranga" receiving a total amount of 516 points combined from Public and Jury Vote. The Radio International Team was on location and had the chance to meet Dara at the Turquoise Carpet but also Johannes was able to meet the singer during the rehearsals for an interview. Acting Star in the Soap Opera Neighbours now became a Eurovision Star as well with the song  "Eclipse" coming 4th in the 70th Eurovision Song Contest. At that time Alicja Szemplińska she won the national final with the song "Empires". In 2023, Alicja attempted again to get the ticket to the Eurovision Song Contest with the song "New Home" coming 6th in the Polish National Final.  At long last in 2026 Alicja was chosen to represent Poland at the Eurovision Song Contest with the song "Pray". Back then Hungary was represented by Boggie with the song "Wars for nothing" which made it from the Semi Final into the Grand Final were it ended up at Number 20. Lion went through the tough national final in Lithuania and won it and with this the ticket tand the right to represent Lithuania at the Eurovision Song Contest 2026. Satoshi will be opening up the contest in Semi Final 1 being Song Number 1 competing with the song "Viva Moldova" on Tuesday, 12 May 2026. Part of Satoshi is Aliona Moon who represented Moldova at the Eurovision Song Contest 2013 with the song "O Mie (One Million)". At the recent edition of Eurovision in Concert 2026 in Amsterdam JP had the pleasure of an interview with with energizers from Moldova. Listen to the interview on the show this week.    Alicja (Poland 2026)  at Eurovision in Concert 2026 in Amsterdam   Interview with Alicja (Poland 2026): In 2020 when the Eurovision Song Contest was canceled by the EBU due to the Corona Pandemic hitting the globe Alicja had already won her national final in Poland before the Covid outbreak. At that time Alicja Szemplińska she won the national final with the song "Empires". In 2023, Alicja attempted again to get the ticket to the Eurovision Song Contest with the song "New Home" coming 6th in the Polish National Final.  At long last in 2026 Alicja was chosen to represent Poland at the Eurovision Song Contest with the song "Pray". In the meantime Krista actually got married and found her love in Amsterdam and enjoys a family life including a child. Radio International's JP bumped into Krista during the Media Session of Eurovision in Concert 2026 and conducted an interview with Krista Siegfrids which you can hear on the show this week.      Chess Galea - Semi Finalist at the  Malta Eurovision Song Contest 2026 with the song "Shout it out". Interview with Chess Galea (Malta Eurovision Song Contest 2026):  The Malta Eurovision Song Contest 2026 took place on Saturday 17 Jan 2026 with Aidan winning the competition with the song "Bella" representing Malta at the Eurovision Song Contest 2026. Chess Galea is a debutant in the Malta Eurovision Song Contest with the song "Shout it out"  which unfortunately was eliminated in the Semi Final and did not make it into the Grand Final of the Malta Eurovision Song Contest. The first Pre-Parties have started and members of the Radio International Team were on location in Stockholm at the MelFstWknd 2026 and conducted interviews with the first Eurovision entrants for 2026 and they are: Alis (Albania 2026), Atvara (Latvia) and Tamara Živković (Montenegro 2026). Alis will be representing Albania in the Second Semi Final in the Second Half with the song "Nan" and Atvara will be representing Latvia with the song "Ena" in the Second Semi Final Second Half while Tamara Živković will be representing Montenegro with the song "Nova Zora". Listen to the interview clips on the show this week.  MelFstWknd 2026 Allstars  (Atvara, Jacqline, Alis, Tamara and Dolly Style) MelFstWknd 2026: The event took place on Friday and Saturday 06 and 07 Mar 2026 in the CLub Nalen in Stockholm where artists from Melodifestivalen as well as Eurovision artists 2026. Futher to the above listed artists participating in the Eurovision Song Contest 2026 listen to interview clips with Dolly Style and Jacqline. Dolly Style took part at Melodifestivalen a few times lastly in 2025 with the song "Yiha" that made it to the Grand Final and Jacqline debuted in 2024 with "Effortless" reaching the Grand Final of Melodifestivalen. She returned to the contest in 2026 with the song "Woman" but did not advance out of the Heat.     Melodifestivalen 2026:  Melodifestivalen 2026 was won  by Felicia with the song "My System" with which she will be representing Sweden at the Eurovision Song Contest 2026 in Semi Final 1 First Half in the middle of May. Radio International was at three of the Heats meeting and interviewing the artists. This is the final interview in the current series of Melodifestivalen 2026.     Felix Manu at Melodifestivalen 2026 - Heat 4 Interview with Felix Manu:  Also a debutant at Melodifestivalen 2026 is Felix Manu who competed in Heat 4 with the song "Hatar att jag älskar dig" coming 4th after the second round of voting which unfortunately did not advance him any further in the competition. Congratulations go to Jasmine Abela who won Muzika Muzika 2026 with the song "Nistaqsi (I ask)" written by Philip Vella and Glen Vella who won the very first edition of Muzika Muzika in 2021. Malta's Muzika Muzika 2026 Scoreboard         Melodifestivalen 2026:  Melodifestivalen 2026 was won  by Felicia with the song "My System" with which she will be representing Sweden at the Eurovision Song Contest 2026 in Semi Final 1 First Half in the middle of May. Radio International was at three of the Heats meeting and interviewing the artists. Almost all interviews were broadcast on Radio International but two and those will be on the show this and next week.     Cimberly at Melodifestivalen 2026 with   "Eternity" (Number 6)   Interview with Cimberly:  A debutant at Melodifestivalen 2026 with the song "Eternity" is Cimberly what won Swedish Idol in 2023. Cimberly's entry made it out of the 3888 songs sent into the Swedish Broadcaster SVT into the Top 30 songs which then were distributed into the five heats. Cimberly performed her song in Heat 4 out of Malmö where she was the second act to make it directly to the Grand Final of Melodifestivalen 2026 after Smash Into Pieces coming 6th in the Grand Final. In the meantime Sanna Nielsen has become mother but also has been hosting a number of years Sweden's most popular Summer Sing-a-long shows "Allsang pa Skansen". 2026 marks Sanna's 30 years in the show business in Sweden and to celebrate that she entered Melodiestivalen 2026 with the song "Waste your love" which came 10th in the Grand Final of the Swedish National Final.        Smash Into Pieces (Melodifestivalen 2026)   Interview with Smash Into Pieces (Melodifestivalen 2026):  It was the group's third participation in Melodifestivalen 2026 with the song "Hollow" which came 4th in the competition compared to their previous two entries where they came third on both occasions with "Six Feet Under" in 2023 and in 2024 it was with "Heroes are calling". In 2026, Smash into Pieces participated in Heat 4 and made it to the Grand Final of Melodifestivalen. Eurovision Host 2025 Hazel Brugger and Germany's regular National Final Host Barbara Schoeneberger will be presenting the acts from a studio in Berlin with a live audience. Previously on Radio International we heard already the interview with Laura Thorn who represented Luxembourg at the eurovision Song Contest 2025 with the song "La poupée monte le son" coming 22nd in the Grand Final of the Eurovision Song Contest 2025. Sadly, the Eurovision Commnity lost Dr. Bernd Meinunger on 17 Oct 2025 at the age of 81. However, on the 30 Sep 2025 Ralph Siegel celebrated his 80th Birthday in a big party in Munich with the participation of many prominent people such as showmasters, as well as artists that Ralph wrote successful songs for. All in all Ralph created over 2000 songs out of which 24 where entries to the Eurovision Song Contest, but not only for Germany. Radio International's Salman was invited by Ralph Siegel for the festivities in Munich which triggered to produce a radio special about his greatest songs including all his Eurovison entries and entries in national finals around Europe he took part in as composer and songwriter. The Kessler Twins represented Germany at the Eurovision Song Contest 1959 with the song "Heute abend wollen wir tanzen gehen" which came 9th. Details where and when will be published here.        The Eurovision Spotlight - The history of Austria at the Eurovision Song Contest:  It is Autumn 2025 it also time for the traditional look at the next host country's Eurovision Song Contest entries. JJ won Eurovision 2025 and with that Austria will host the Eurovision Song Contest 2026 in the Wiener Stadthalle on 12 and 14 May 2026 for the two Semi Finals and the Grand Finale to take place on Saturday, 16 May 2026. Over the next weeks and before the National Final Season for 2026, Radio International's team members will be reviewing all the Eurovision entries from Austria.
