Looks Unfamiliar is a podcast in which writer and occasional broadcaster Tim Worthington talks to a guest about some of the things that they remember that nobody else ever seems to.Joining Tim this time is journalist Mic Wright, who's rummaging around in a crisp bag in search of Cargo by Men At Work, Rocko's Modern Life, Party Animals, Solitary Fitness by Charles Bronson and Tazos. Along the way we'll be discussing how to avoid Ebeneezer Goode Syndrome, ruminating on The Thinking Man's Pog, trying to swap a duplicate Michael Parkinson Tazo for three Matt Smiths and revealing just how close Tupac Shakur came to appearing in Ballykissangel. You can find more editions of Looks Unfamiliar at http://timworthington.org/. You can also find Mic on Looks Unfamiliar talking about The Adventures Of Pete And Pete, Army And Navy Sweets, Emergency by 999, Rock On by David Essex, Thunderbirds comic and the murky origins of a certain unsavoury playground rumour here and I Helped Patrick McGoohan Escape by The Times, Clarissa Explains It All, 2000 AD strip Nikolai Dante, Sharky And George, Jeff Lint and The Game here.If you enjoy Looks Unfamiliar, why not buy us a coffee here? I'd say they should do a Kenco Tazo, but... it would probably logistically have to be a set based on Tenko.
Hey Sinners! This week Steve and Sean are joined by writer and director Daniel Kokotajlo about his new film Starve Acre staring Morfydd Clark (Saint Maud) and Matt Smith (Doctor Who). On episode 72, Micah and I talk about my trip to Singapore with my neighbor Shelley. Listener Claire writes in and tells us how she can relate to Matt Smiths fear of flying as she talks about her experience with a Go Around in Denver. And sadly, there isn't a question this week from Listener Lu. Hey Listener Lu, we want to know where you are??? :-) In Additions, Corrections and Shoutouts, Listener Hendric updates us on European Compensation, EU261. I ask for help with the project I'm working on at the California Science Center. We are looking for anyone with experience in the field of aviation to make a donation of time, talent or funds to support a program for disadvantaged students. Micah and I then talk about my trip with neighbor Shelley to Singapore. She was surprised to learn we got upgraded to Polaris... which was very nice. The opening and closing music is provided by the Madalitso Youth Choir as they sing their Welcome Song and their Good By song, recorded at the lobby of The Royal Livingston Hotel in Zambia. We hope you enjoy the show!

Lewis Moon and Dr Cool present another edition of the programme beginning with a roundup of all things Time Lord Victorious, before the infamous Colin Baker debut the Twin Dilemma separates their opinions, plus there is the final Redeeming the Irredemable for quite some time on what they consider to be one of Matt Smiths weakest outings, Closing Time. (Next Week-The deadly assassin gets reviewed and there is an overview of the Colin Baker era).
Merry Christmas listeners! As we aproach the dawn of a new decade we travel back to a tale of Christmas past and revisit Matt Smiths first Christmas special, A Christmas Carol. Steven Moffat delivered his own take on the classic Charles Dickens novella with a very crative Doctor Who spin! Have a listen and see what we thought!
This week we look at Matt Smith tenor as the Doctor and what his companions brought to the table.
This week both gals go to jolly olde England! Zee shares some tragic and bizarre tales from Cannock Chase and Danielle tells the tale of the Black Monk of Pontefract. This week while Liam's on holiday, Rob revisits Matt Smiths second ever episode The Beast Below.
The pick of the week is Alex + Ada #2 from Image. This episode four new comics are reviewed; Alex + Ada #2, Superior Spider-Man #6, The Star Wars #0 and Imagine Agents #3.Then it is on to our epic 2013 year in review featuring our best and worst picks of the past year.We start off with movies and both agree that Pacific Rim is our best movie of 2013, sorry 12 Years a Slave. Other movies making the good list include Despicable Me 2, World War Z, End of the World, Frozen, and World's End. Our worst of the year include the Lone Ranger, Man of Steel, Star Trek 2 and Iron Man 3. Then we turn our sophisticated gaze towards the television and Matt chose Sleepy Hollow as his pick of the year while Patrick chose Game of Thrones. Other good shows include American Horror Story, Broadchurch, Toy Hunter, Blacklist, Orange is the New Black, Under the Dome and Key and Peele. Our dogs of the year on the tube include Agents of Shield, High School USA, and Family Guy.Matt talks about his favorite games of the year but LEGO City: Undercover was his choice for Game of the Year. Other highlights included Super Mario 3D World, Steamworld Dig, LEGO Marvel Super Heroes, The Last of Us, Rayman Legends, Pokemon X&Y, and Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds. We finish with a look back at the world of comic books. Our mutual Comic of the Year (ongoing) was Superior Spider-Man from Marvel. Matt's Comic of the Year (Limited) was Reality Check from Image while Patricks was 47 Ronin from Dark Horse. Other books that made the best of list include Masks, No Tomorrow, Imagine Agents, It Came from Beyond!, Death Sentence, Saga, Skyward, Black Beetle, Sex Crimals, Injustice, and Afterlife With Archie. If that was not enough the boys play comic book trivia from the board game Comic Crusades throughout the program.Have a safe and happy Christmas and join us next time for a look ahead at 2014 along with a talk about Matt Smiths last episode of Doctor Who. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/matthew-szewczyk/message
It's finally happened! The world has been put out of it's misery and we finally know that the great Peter Capaldi has been cast as Matt Smiths successor in the TARDIS. And of course Phil & Paul share their views on this casting news and also the manner in which it was done. Zoe Ball? Really?? And of course there is the usual reviewing nonsense with a look at the Target novelisation of the 2nd Doctor story, The Seeds of Death. Though by their own admission, it's all inconsequential given the news this week!
After what seems like a lifetime, Phil and Paul finally return to their series 3 retrospective with Daleks In Manhattan. Has time been kind to this story or is it still the big mess that they remembered? Rest assured, both Paul and Phil give a reasoned critique but during the course of their dissection, Phil puts on a showgirl voice, Paul manages to insult Wales and quickly backtracks and the whole conversation degenerates into hardcore pornography. And in the news this week, the saga of the recovered (or not recovered) missing episodes is discussed, Roath Lock will get Royal patronage, Matt Smiths thank you to cast, crew and fans and last and by no means least, Omega's Tat Corner makes it's triumphant return wherein you will hear the phrase "ring hanger".
[NÖRD:IGT] råkade ut för ett seriöst bortfall i personal den här veckan. Tove Bengtsson är på Gotland Games Conference och Peter Kjellin är hemma. I Polen.
After last weeks show, the lads are back in their comfort zone with their continuation of their series 5 retrospective and this week it's the turn of The Lodger. However, not all went according to plan as they were beset by technical problems, which made each other think their connection had dropped which lead to a bit of confusion. But once things got back on track, they rattled through but couldn't help but keep making comparisions to Closing Time (well, Phil did anyway) and why discovering Matt Smiths comedic talents in this story was a slippery slope for the programme makers.
Episode 3, in which we talk about: Regeneration, news, top moments, dvd files, sonic screwdrivers, David Tennant and more - almost without stopping for breath...http://www.ourmedia.org/sites/default/files/ia/original/VBR%20MP3/Episode3_6/cusersadamdocumentsepisode3.mp3Sonic ScrewdriversIn the podcast we talk about the evolution of the sonic screwdriver - but what do you think, is it overused in the new series/it's all Doctor Who/Russell T Davies era/Eccleston~Tennant years? Also, what do you want Matt Smiths new sonic screwdriver to do or not do?
