In this high-level episode of Upgrade America, we unpack a whirlwind of topics shaking up the world. Is the leaked JD Vance audio on Elon Musk legit—or a deep fake powered by AI? Ariel, one of our sharp listeners, draws powerful parallels between the political chess game of Trump, JD Vance, and Elon Musk and the fall of Rome's democracy. We explore AI's jaw-dropping ability to diagnose cancer with near-perfect accuracy and what it means for the future of healthcare. Meanwhile, a nuclear plant in Michigan restarts—are we entering a new atomic age? We break down Spain's move to pay housewives €560/month and ask: could this work in America? The suspicious death of U.S. Attorney Jessica Aber raises red flags—natural causes or something more? And yet another mass shooting in New Mexico forces us to ask why this continues in America. Across the globe, President Ibrahim Traore of Burkina Faso is transforming Africa—could he be the leader that unites the continent and becomes a model for Black American empowerment? Plus: Underground cities beneath the Giza pyramids? We explore the claims and tie it to the Skyward vision. Irish teacher Enoch Burke has his bank accounts frozen for refusing to use gender-neutral pronouns—are we witnessing state economic terrorism? Tesla protests in El Salvador labeled “domestic terrorism”—is this the future of dissent? We close with practical tips to empower yourself financially—from investing in Bitcoin and crypto, to learning new income streams, reclaiming your economic power, and protecting your freedom in a digital world. Tune in. Take notes. This is Upgrade America.

Welcome to another episode of Ignite, the official podcast of Blackman High School, where we bring you all the latest updates and happenings straight from the principal's office. In this episode, we focus on the key events scheduled in the upcoming week. On Tuesday, March 12th, our 11th graders will be taking the all-important ACT, a significant milestone in their academic journey and a state requirement. While our junior students are engaged in the ACT, our 9th graders will be tackling their district benchmark exams in English Language Arts and Math. Additionally, our 10th graders won't be left out as they will be preparing for their CERT benchmarks to gain valuable insights for their forthcoming ACT test. In a bid to optimise our schedule, 12th graders will have the option of spending their day learning about real-world skills through an optional college day or a job shadow day. The fourth quarter initiates this week for all students, with the third quarter report cards being posted on Skyward come Friday. We further remind parents about the upcoming parent-teacher conference on March 18th from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. We encourage all parents to book an appointment through the BHS website for this important event. Important announcements for this week include the success of our JROTC Blaze Battalion Drill Team in the Rutherford County Drill as well as the upcoming HOSA meeting. We'd also like to extend our congratulations to our students who excelled at the Technology Student Association's state conference. As always, we continue to encourage everyone's commitment to safety and following the prescribed procedures for student drop-off and pickup. Thank you for your continual support as we strive to give our students the best learning environment. Here's to a great week ahead at Blackman High and as always, Go, Blaze!

Welcome to another exciting episode of Ignite! On this week's rundown from Blackmon High, we have crucial updates ranging from ACT readiness programs to upcoming school events. We are gearing up to start our winter CERT benchmark, a personalized ACT readiness program during our Impact classes. This program aims to help 10th and 11th graders maximize their ACT scores with tailored tools. We'll be running ACT boot camps on Saturday, March 2 and follow-up workshops from March 4-11 after school. Last year's boot camp helped students bump their scores above 21, and we're excited to welcome more students this year. Alongside our academic endeavors, we're also supporting our co-ed varsity cheerleading squad competing in the National Championships in Florida and celebrating Senior Night for our basketball team. There's also a band concert slated on Thursday and a soccer team parent meeting. This week marks the midway point of the third quarter, and progress reports will be available on Skyward. Parents, please remember to look out for the next district parent series focusing on Suicide Awareness and Prevention, held at Blackmon High on February 12th. On the student front, expect tryouts for soccer and softball, a German club meeting, and pre-selling Valentine candy grams by the school newspaper. And in recognition of Black History Month, our Black Student Union has an impressive lineup of activities that will be announced soon. Thank you for being an essential part of the Blackmon High community. As always, Go Blaze!

So, what did we think of Skyward on a reread? Stay tuned to find out. For this book, we have Mi'chelle (firstRainbowRose), Jessie (Lady Lameness), Ian (Weiry), and Eric (Chaos). Need a recap? Jessie has you covered, and her own channel, she did a full recap for Skyward: https://youtu.be/vfGZwEgoX9A SpanReads will come out weekly until Defiant comes out. Skyward episodes air August 31st to September 14th, Starsight from September 21st to October 5th, Skyward Flight from October 12th to October 26th, Cytonic from November 2nd to November 16th, and then Defiant comes out the week after! I am reviewing Science Fiction. Alert...you are not seeing things, for the first time in 18 months I am reading sci-fi! It's been a while since we were here, but this week I am taking you on a journey into space in the year 2380 as I talk about and review the first in the Aurora Cycle series, Aurora Rising by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff. I wasn't sure what to think when I first saw this book (and the rest of the trilogy) recommended by someone over on Bookstagram, but I took a risk and ordered all three. It took me a few months to get to the point where I was ready to step out of the fantasy comfort zone I had placed myself in, but am I glad I did? Check out this review of the first book, released in 2019, and find out what I thought. And then give my last (and only other) science fiction episode an airing... Featured episodes Skyward

“We listed immediately following what was the worst public market environment in modern day. The IPO market was completely shut down. Our S-1 had been confidentially filed and we ended up having almost 60 ‘Testing the Waters' meetings with investors. It allowed us to learn about how investors thought about our company and the market. It ended up being incredibly valuable,” says Andrew as he describes Skyward's turnaround journey to the first successful IPO of 2023. Andrew shares the benefit of being able to test the waters ahead of the IPO and gaining an understanding of the business from an investor's perspective. From aligning talent with business strategy to visibly changing the company's culture, Skyward have moved to a flatter, more modern and fluid environment.“There are cultures that are very reliant on their CEOs but ours is now incredibly organic. We have a real winning mindset, but it's an amazingly compassionate environment. We have folks that are really focused on winning. They're highly competitive but at the same time very supportive of one another.”Andrew highlights how the cultural transformation has impacted talent attraction. “We're hiring underwriters who want to underwrite, very technical people who want to apply their trade. We give them boundaries in which we can operate, we try to clear out the bureaucracy. We're very focused on making the underwriters the center of the universe as a philosophy which is a really attractive thing. It's a very grounded group of people.”He shares his advice for business leaders considering a public offering as well how the whole Skyward team have benefitted from stock options. Andrew gives his perspective on the current state of the insurance industry.“Two key things that I think are important. One is that we need more talent. Second, we have an entirely new spectrum of risk. We need companies to come in and construct solutions. We all have to do our part. Skyward has to do our part in that.” He concludes by highlighting the company's vision going forward. “We want to focus on parts of the market where we can “rule our niche”. That means build positions that are genuinely defensible, where we can deliver top quartile underwriting returns in all parts of the cycle. The most critical thing is great talent. Great people improve the fidelity of our risk selection, our ability to price risk and drive towards optimal claims outcomes."Connect with Andrew Robinson on LinkedIn or find out more about Skyward Specialty Insurance The Insurance Coffee House Podcast is hosted by Nick Hoadley, CEO, Insurance Search, the Executive Search Consultancy for growing Insurance and Insurtech businesses around the globe. To discuss identifying & attracting the very best talent to your team or being a podcast guest, reach out to Nick via nick.hoadley@insurance-search.com Copyright Insurance Search 2023 – All Rights Reserved.

“Cultures are not just based on what we measure and how we reward, but they're based on storytelling. At the end of the day, a culture is really just ‘what do we care about and equally what do we not care about'”, says Tom. “We don't care about bureaucracy, we don't care about hierarchy, we don't care about titles. We do care about creating an empowered organization, where everybody can bring their true authentic self to work.”Tom shares his journey, from being in HR his entire career with roles in banking, high tech and insurance to joining the Skyward team in June 2020. He highlights the contribution he has made from the company rebrand to the first successful IPO of 2023, all supported by the passion, enthusiasm and vision of CEO, Andrew Robinson. “We had the opportunity to build the company we always wanted to work for. I've worked for large companies, small companies are a lot more fun. It's like it's like being the captain of a speed boat versus the captain of an aircraft carrier. We can turn on a dime.”Tom discusses the IPO process and its impact across the organization. “It's been a tremendous boost to all of our staff. We shared in the celebration with our entire team. Every single employee received equity in the company as part of the IPO”Tom talks about building a wining culture and cascading information and key objectives to the entire team in a consistent way. “What that means is every single person understands what they need to do in order to contribute to the success of Skyward Specialty.”He emphasizes how hiring is based around hiring in the model of the ‘go forward' organization, where people can truly practise their craft. “People don't want to be encumbered by a bunch of bureaucratic rules. Super accomplished individuals – whether that's underwriting, claims or the various support functions - want to be able to bring their expertise. They want their ideas heard, they want to be able to contribute.”Tom highlights Skyward's approach to hiring exceptional talent and encourages applicants to know that interviews are a two-way process. “I always encourage candidates to interview us and understand if this is the right environment. We give candidates an opportunity to meet a number of different people and ask the same question to different people and see if they get the same answer.”Tom concludes by sharing an interview experience that has stuck long in his mind. “Education, skills, competency, that's table stakes. Character, drive, work ethic and never ever giving up is what wins the day. And that's what we look for in candidates.”Connect with Tom Schmitt on LinkedIn or find out more about Skyward Specialty InsuranceThe Insurance Coffee House Podcast is hosted by Nick Hoadley, CEO, Insurance Search, the Executive Search Consultancy for growing Insurance and Insurtech businesses around the globe. To discuss identifying & attracting the very best talent to your team or being a podcast guest, reach out to Nick via nick.hoadley@insurance-search.com Copyright Insurance Search 2023 – All Rights...
