Three movies that obsess me, from a time when we had no internet and had to use phones to connect and fall in lust -- as well as a teen sex comedy that makes no sense -- are on the show this week. Hun eerste single 'Have You Ever Been Mellow' werd meteen een nummer 1-hit.

What do Lily Tomlin, Snow White, and Kenny Ortega have in common? They were all part of the 61st Academy Awards, a broadcast now remembered as the worst of all time, and masterminded by Allan Carr (lover of spectacle and producer of Grease). But awards season correspondent and New Yorker staff writer Michael Schulman is here to argue that the tackiest, most disastrous Oscars of all time might just be... unfairly maligned. Jesus himself said that others called him a "glutton" and a "drunkard." What a strange reputation for the most influential spiritual leader in the history of the world! While Jesus believed those descriptions of him were misguided, it's worth asking the question: why did some religious leaders believe this of him? Jesus seemed to believe that sometimes spiritual transformation and the most profound conversations happen over a meal or a glass of wine. This week, we'll explore the Savior who offered us life while meeting us at the party.

Looks Unfamiliar is a podcast in which writer and occasional broadcaster Tim Worthington talks to a guest about some of the things that they remember that nobody else ever seems to.Joining Tim this time is journalist Mic Wright, who's rummaging around in a crisp bag in search of Cargo by Men At Work, Rocko's Modern Life, Party Animals, Solitary Fitness by Charles Bronson and Tazos. Along the way we'll be discussing how to avoid Ebeneezer Goode Syndrome, ruminating on The Thinking Man's Pog, trying to swap a duplicate Michael Parkinson Tazo for three Matt Smiths and revealing just how close Tupac Shakur came to appearing in Ballykissangel. You can find more editions of Looks Unfamiliar at http://timworthington.org/. You can also find Mic on Looks Unfamiliar talking about The Adventures Of Pete And Pete, Army And Navy Sweets, Emergency by 999, Rock On by David Essex, Thunderbirds comic and the murky origins of a certain unsavoury playground rumour here and I Helped Patrick McGoohan Escape by The Times, Clarissa Explains It All, 2000 AD strip Nikolai Dante, Sharky And George, Jeff Lint and The Game here.If you enjoy Looks Unfamiliar, why not buy us a coffee here? I'd say they should do a Kenco Tazo, but... it would probably logistically have to be a set based on Tenko.

Another Catholic REVERT! (From Party Animal to the Catholic Church)
“The sense that each of them is gently teasing the other, and each enjoying the matching of wits. For all of the interesting people Jesus meets in John, I think this individual is the most interesting and that's part of why this story is there in the Gospel. There's a word game. A kind of “He said – She said”. The Samaritan woman starts by using the literal meaning of words and Jesus starts by using the symbolic meaning, and then, just when you realize what they're doing, they both switch and do the opposite. It takes two people to do that, and to enjoy it. I can almost imagine Jesus smiling at the joke when the woman talks to him. And her smiling back. In short, maybe these two liked each other. Give me some water, says Jesus. Clear enough. He wants the wet liquid. You're a Jew, she answers. Theological. She's stalling. If only you knew, I'd give you living water, he says. Wait a minute – all of a sudden we're not exactly talking about H2O anymore. Give me some of that living water that ends thirst, says the woman, and I won't need to haul it up the hill. Making fun of Jesus and his flipping back and forth…just a little. Water, water, water, and water, but not the same meaning each time. Literal, figurative, symbolic, real – lots of the double entendres that are characteristic of flirting, and all in only a couple of verses!” -https://unsettledwords.com/2014/03/21/did-jesus-flirt/. FUN HALF LINK HERE: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TDKZ_baYEXA&ab_channel=TheMajorityReportw%2FSamSeder It's another EmMajority Report Thursday! She speaks with Ben Terris, writer in the Washington Post's Style section, to discuss his recent book The Big Break: The Gamblers, Party Animals, and True Believers Trying to Win in Washington While America Loses Its Mind. Then, she's joined by Kaniela Ing, National Director of the Green New Deal Network and former member of the Hawaii House of Representatives, to discuss the ongoing recovery efforts from the Maui wildfires, and how the aftereffects of colonialism are still affecting Hawaii to this day. First, Emma runs through updates on the Maui wildfires' climbing death toll, another wildfire in Canada, Trump's legal cases, Rudy's legal bills, the upcoming UAW strike vote, abortion rights in the US, action from far-right legislatures in the US, and a potential Lula-Biden meeting, before diving into recent revelations on Roger Stone's most unsurprising role in Trump's conspiracy. Ben Terris then joins, diving right into his project studying the impact of Trump's “shock” to the DC system, and how his victory inflamed all of the worst elements of the Capitol, making it somehow even more grifty, shifty, and power-hungry. Terris dives into his work profiling Matt Schlapp, Robert Stryk, and Sean McElwee, to explore how they capitalized on a shifting power structure in DC by clinging firmly to Trump, knowing the right people, and betting their way to the top, respectively. Kaniela Ing then joins as he first provides background on the devastating impact of the recent wildfires in Maui, burning through the capital of the Hawaiian Kingdom, Lahaina, with thousands missing alongside the over 100 declared dead. After walking through the response from the Hawaiian community, as well as the best way to help from the outside, Ing and Emma tackle the ongoing invasion of disaster capitalists in the wake, attempting to extort devastated Hawaiians for their land, and coming in under the guise of aid solely to exploit. Wrapping up, Kaniela walks through Hawaii's history with colonial capitalism (particularly in the wake of disasters), and what the major challenges of the rebuilding process will be. And in the Fun Half: Emma is joined by Brandon Sutton and Matt Binder as they discuss the outrageous second attempt at canceling Richard Hanania for doing race science again, watch Bill Maher expertly interrupt Marianne Williamson to explain that poor people don't matter because he can't see them, and a caller from Baltimore poorly starts a conversation on law and marginalized rights. Nick from Houston Food Not Bombs calls in to explore Houston's criminalization of feeding the homeless as a part of the US' greater fascistic attack on the unhoused, and Kristi Noem makes Hillary Clinton look good. Rudy Giuliani continues his pathetic little downfall, and Guy from Charlotte calls in about the Right's love for ahistory, plus, your calls and IMs!
