If you're a fan of the show, you know I love a good concept album. And when I found out there were local Indy prog musicians creating a concept album just down the road from me? I had to have them over to discuss it! This episode, I sat down with StarChaser, the medium-bending band led by the visionary Kara Tucker (vocals/guitar) and her husband Nick Tucker (bass/guitar). Dorian Phelps rounds out the trio on drums. More than just musicians, Nick and Kara bring together art, fashion, and storytelling to create a world around their music. Since Kara and Nick are locals, I actually got to have them over to the Michael's Mixdown studio for an in-person chat! In this conversation, they share how their artistic backgrounds shape StarChaser's identity, from the bold visual aesthetics and stage presence to the deeply personal stories woven into their lyrics, and the music they love that inspires them. Whether you're drawn in by the sound, the look, or the stories behind it all, this episode offers a closer look at the creative heartbeat of Indianapolis' own StarChaser. All the links!https://www.youtube.com/@JuJu_StarChaserhttps://starchaser1.bandcamp.com/album/tsars-of-the-universehttps://www.instagram.com/jujustarchaser/Find my other show, The Custodians, here: https://shows.acast.com/the-custodians Hosted on Acast. In this conversation, Laurel Holland and Laurel Boivin explore how focus and devotion guide our inner work and ultimately shape the lives we create. Drawing inspiration from a recent episode, Becoming Resilient with Nick Tucker, they reflect on how devotion isn't just a spiritual word or heavy commitment. It can be as simple as daily practices that keep us aligned with what matters most. Together, they discuss the importance of clarifying what you're truly devoted to, breaking free from old family patterns, and shifting from chasing material success to cultivating meaning and becoming. Through vulnerable stories, practical tools, and encouragement, the Laurels remind us that inner work is not only beautiful—it's the foundation for a fulfilling and purpose-driven life. If you've ever wondered how to stay focused on what truly matters, or how to weave devotion into the everyday, this episode offers guidance and grounding wisdom for your journey. 00:17 Introduction 00:33 Season Overview 01:18 Podcast Format & Flow 03:15 Episode Topic Introduction 03:43 Personal Stories of Devotion 04:55 The Role of Desire in Inner Work 06:39 Focus, Devotion, and Commitment 08:24 Simplicity in Devotion 10:50 Material Desires vs. Greater Purpose 12:58 Breaking Family Cycles & Personal Purpose 16:31 Finding Your North Star 17:35 Devotion in Career and Life Choices 19:57 Becoming vs. Having 21:11 Practicing New Ways of Being 23:15 Emotional Processing & Self-Compassion 25:34 Strategies for Starting Inner Work 26:27 Final Reflections & Listener Engagement 31:00 Invitation for Feedback 32:01 Closing Remarks Journaling prompts are suggested to further your exploration: What is something I feel deeply devoted to in my life right now? How does that devotion show up in my daily actions? When I think about what I don't want in my life, what does that reveal about what I truly desire instead? Where in my life have I confused “having” (material success, achievements) with “becoming” (the person I want to grow into)? What would my life look like if I shifted even more of my focus toward becoming rather than having? What family or generational patterns am I ready to release or transform? If I were at the end of my life, what would I most want to have experienced, created, or contributed? Who are the trusted people I could ask about my natural gifts, and how might their perspective help me see myself more clearly? When have I felt most aligned with my true self, rather than living from conditioning or expectation? What daily practice, no matter how simple, could I commit to as an act of devotion to myself and my growth? How do I want to contribute to the world, even in small, everyday ways? Where in my life might I need to course-correct because my devotion has shifted away from what truly matters to me? How do I want to show up in my relationships, as a parent, partner, colleague, or friend? What emotions or stories have I avoided processing that might be holding me back from growth? How would my life feel different if I practiced showing up as the person I want to become, one interaction at a time? What does “inner work” mean to me personally, and how can I make space for it this week? In this powerful and meaningful conversation, Laurel sits down with speaker, storyteller, and youth mentor Nick Tucker to explore what it truly means to become resilient. Together, they dive into: The real definition of resilience (hint: it's not just bouncing back) How writing his life story revealed unprocessed trauma and sparked healing The importance of self-awareness and learning to feel your feelings The surprising forms inner work can take—walking, parenting, praying, cooking Why relationships are our greatest teachers in emotional growth And how Nick's “Walk With Me” tour is spreading hope and humanity across the country This conversation is rich with wisdom, humor, and truth—and a beautiful reminder that we never stop becoming. Whether you're navigating your own healing, showing up for others, or simply trying to figure out what's next, this episode invites you to slow down, look inward, and take the next courageous step toward a beautiful life. What if we swapped PVC for a leather substitute that's actually sustainable and long-lasting? That's the idea behind MycoWorks, a company producing an innovative leather alternative from an unlikely source: Mushrooms. More specifically, mycelium, the spindly network of fungal threads that reside underneath the soil. So, is this new textile a truly viable alternative to cow leather, or is it just a trendy greenwashed idea? Nick Tucker and the Hard Reset Podcast hosts sit down to discuss.

What if we could produce clean, cruelty-free protein without the enormous carbon footprint associated with traditional animal agriculture? Cell-based chicken has just received FDA clearance in the U.S., and while this food technology is seemingly a solution for many current limitations within the food system, there are just as many skeptics as there are evangelists. Nick Tucker and the Hard Reset hosts sit down for a conversation about lab-grown chicken: The pros, the cons, and the question on everyone's mind––would you eat it?

Hello Seattle Mariners fans! John Trupin is out in the wild, but Kate Preusser and Evan James are in studio with Nick Tucker after the dismantling of the San Diego Padres in game one at Petco Park. Welcome to Meet at the Mitt Podcast episode 22 on June 7th 2023. Two rough series against the hottest team in the league (New York Yankees) and maybe the best team (Texas Rangers) have left a sour taste, but a win always tastes good. Much discussion abounds regarding the offense or lack of it nearly half way through the season. However, there are silver linings: Bryce Miller developing through struggles, Bryan Woo getting a taste, maybe even a shot for Jake Scheiner? We wrap with a smattering of strong listener questions from Twitter on the immortal George Kirby and where DMO might play returning from the injured list.
