In this enlightening episode of Educator Yarns, host Jess Staines is joined by Bec Burch, founder of Bush Kindy Australia, to explore the powerful intersection between Aboriginal perspectives and sustainability practices in early childhood education. Together, they unpack the seven Rs of sustainability—rethink, refuse, reduce, reuse, repair, regift, and recycle—and how these principles can guide educators in teaching children to become mindful custodians of Country. This conversation delves deep into practical strategies for moving away from wasteful classroom practices towards more meaningful, culturally respectful approaches that honour Aboriginal connections to land. Bec and Jess share inspiring examples of how natural materials can become rich learning resources, the importance of ethical procurement that supports Aboriginal businesses, and how educators can critically reflect on their environmental impact in ways that respect the traditional owners of the land on which centres operate. Key Takeaways: The concept of "borrowing, using and returning" rather than "taking, making and wasting" provides a framework for sustainable practice that aligns with Aboriginal perspectives on caring for Country. Natural materials like fallen leaves, flowers, and branches offer open-ended learning opportunities that manufactured resources cannot match, supporting child-led practices central to both nature pedagogy and Aboriginal approaches. Rethinking conventional practices includes questioning whether maintenance routines (like removing fallen leaves and sticks) might be eliminating valuable natural learning resources. When using natural materials, educators should consider their impact—for example, covering gum nuts in glitter and glue prevents them from being respectfully returned to Country. Sustainability encompasses environmental, social, and economic dimensions, requiring educators to balance all three in their decision-making processes. Refusing to purchase from non-ethical sources or businesses that don't equitably remunerate Aboriginal people for their cultural knowledge supports social sustainability. Engaging with local Aboriginal community markets and events provides opportunities to procure authentic, place-based resources while building meaningful relationships. Many natural materials can serve multiple purposes in play scenarios (leaves as play money, food, or art materials), reducing the need for single-use commercial resources. Reducing consumption involves critical reflection about whether new purchases are necessary, as children often engage deeply with minimal materials, particularly in natural settings. Reusing and repurposing items (like turning old drawers into garden beds) demonstrates sustainable practices while sparking creativity and problem-solving. The seven Rs of sustainability offer early childhood educators a practical framework for embedding Aboriginal perspectives into everyday practice, moving beyond tokenistic approaches to deep, meaningful engagement with sustainability principles. By reimagining our relationship with materials, consumption, and waste through an Aboriginal lens, we can create more culturally responsive, environmentally conscious learning environments. Take time this week to audit one area of your practice—perhaps your art supplies or outdoor maintenance routines—and consider how you might apply these sustainability principles in ways that honour Aboriginal connections to Country and teach children to become the next generation of custodians. Our guest this week is one of the most unique characters in the surf world. He's an aggressive stock day-trader, a conspiracy theorist on just about every topic, a passionate amateur archaeologist, a part-time janitor for a school district, and an actor! But more than anything, he is one of the most “CORE” surfers we know. For over 30 years, he has been traveling the globe and scoring perfect waves. Whether he's constantly glued to Surfline or has developed some secret formula blending swell, wind, and tide data (we're not sure). What we do know is If he is out in the lineup, then you're probably at the best spot on the coast, if not in the entire world. His uncanny ability to quick-strike the world's best swells comes down to his secret weapon, his ultra-rare “Golden Ticket” airline pass, which has unlocked access to every bucket-list wave on the planet. Please welcome the most interesting man in the surf world, Mr. Tom “REZZY” Rezvan.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

This week, we're doing something a little different. James is joined by Joe Stimson, a professional rugby league player with over 100 NRL games under his belt, including stints with the Melbourne Storm, one of Australia's most successful sporting organizations. Beyond his achievements on the field, Joe has built a strong foundation in personal finance and property investing as a client of Custodian. But what truly sets him apart is his high-performance mindset—one that's driven by goal setting, continuous feedback, and an unwavering commitment to growth. In this episode, we dive into: - How Joe started setting goals in high school and why that habit has been crucial to his success - The power of feedback—why embracing it (without taking offense) can be a game-changer in wealth-building, career, and life - Lessons from elite sport that apply to everyday success, whether in business, health, or relationships Joe's approach to personal growth is inspiring, and his story is proof that success isn't just about talent—it's about mindset. Through her work, she mapped out a multidimensional universe teeming with intergalactic consciousness, parallel timelines, and profound lessons for the soul's evolution. As we listen to her words, Brynn and I reflect on her legacy, discussing how her teachings resonate today and what they reveal about the path ahead for humanity. This is a powerful and thought-provoking episode you won't want to miss.. Drop In!Dolores Canon Bio:Dolores Cannon (1931–2014) was a pioneering hypnotherapist, author, and lecturer known for her groundbreaking work in past-life regression, extraterrestrial contact, and the study of consciousness. Over nearly five decades, she developed the Quantum Healing Hypnosis Technique (QHHT), a deep-trance hypnosis method that allowed individuals to access past lives, higher consciousness, and interdimensional experiences. Her research led to the publication of over 17 books, including The Convoluted Universe series and The Custodians, where she documented thousands of case studies exploring reincarnation, lost civilizations, parallel realities, and encounters with non-human intelligences. She introduced the concept of the Three Waves of Volunteers, suggesting that advanced souls had incarnated on Earth to assist in a planetary shift toward higher consciousness. Her teachings emphasized the idea that Earth was undergoing an energetic transformation and that humanity was being guided by benevolent cosmic forces.A sought-after speaker, Cannon lectured internationally, training thousands of practitioners in QHHT and inspiring a global movement of seekers interested in metaphysics, self-healing, and spiritual awakening. Her work continues to influence the New Age movement, with her books, teachings, and hypnosis methods still widely studied today.Dolores Cannon passed away on October 18, 2014, at the age of 83, leaving behind a profound legacy in the fields of past-life regression, metaphysics, and spiritual exploration. Here's what we're reading, recommending, and revisiting this week.Catherine's library find comes from the adult nonfiction section this week: Custodians of Wonder: Ancient Customs, Profound Traditions, and the Last People Keeping Them Alive by Eliot Stein. She can't vouch for the author (yet) but thinks this could be an entertaining and illuminating trip around the world.Terri's random recommendation this week is the sitcom Scrubs, which ran from 2001 to 2010. She's watching it for the first time for two reasons: She's a Bill Lawrence fan (see: Shrinking) and she needs to justify her Hulu subscription. In the archives, we checked in on an episode from 2023 on real-life conversation hearts.Next week's lineup: Lost S2 E9, "What Kate Did," on Tuesday, February 18A Man on the Inside S1 E4, "The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Painting Class," on Wednesday, February 19Weekly roundup on Thursday, February 20Until then (and anytime you're in need), the archives are available.

The theater of government illusion and the packaging of truth. It's all truly a show now, and it always has been. The corruption was never hidden, it was shielded by official narratives. By the time the money got to me it was clean. It is always the same corporations and operatives involved. Let's take a second look at Enjoy The Show. USAID was laundering influence and not spreading democracy. Everyone is suddenly an expert. Custodians of the message and protectors of the narrative. So many are managing corruption but not revealing it. The truth was never really hidden. And it doesn't need approval or permission. The truth stands on it's own. Everything will be exposed to the world. All of those that turned on Trump now sit at his feet. The time for pushing the message is over. Illusions can only hold on so long. Don't expect what's coming to be flowing and nice. Public university scams being run thru Canada. For a decade, it's been us following the money. No stone will be left unturned. 530 weeks ago is when it all started. A lot of them are scrambling, because it's going to be a very big fall.

Pasta thin as thread, a mirror believed to show your true self, a history passed down for 27 generations of the same family—these may sound like elements of fairy tale, but they exist in our very own modern world. In his new book, Custodians of Wonder, BBC reporter Eliot Stein tells the stories of the people keeping traditions like these alive, across 10 countries and five continents, in an effort to save the cultures that shaped them. Far from being a litany of all the rites we've lost over the years, Stein's book is a paean to human ingenuity in the face of evolving technology and culture, and to the creative spirit that continues to fuel the places that we call home.
