So today I wanted to discuss why you may want to consider an ergonomic keyboard or mouse for your computer on today's episode of Joey's Totally Tech!NOTE - Though the Exclusives were mentioned and we encouraged people to sign up in this episode, they are now disabled. This week's Free story comes from the "FIFTY: The Stars, the States, and the Stories" It's called "Idaho: A Brave Day Indeed" “A Brave Day Indeed” is historical fiction about a railroad town called “Sandy Point” (later became Sandpoint) and a conversation between Wild Horse Tavern owner, Delia Horton, and future President of the United States, Theodore Roosevelt. They share parts of their biography and the conversation then turns to how to handle bullies who try to stand in your way. The “Brave Day” that Theodore refers to is from his youth when he followed his father’s advice to ‘make himself’ and face personal challenges that arise on his first day of summer camp. Youssef and Ahmed are joined by Joshua Pawaar, a psychoanalysis and pyscho-social studies student at the University of Essex, who is able to dance gracefully with ideas. The three sit down to discuss psychoanalysis and the role it can play in helping us understand humanity, its deepest nature, and the psyche as such. The conversation delves into issues like: the role of the internet in the proliferation of memes, the origins and roots of suicide, and how to conceive of individual identity. They cover ground, such as how Freudian psychoanalysis sheds light on humanity's deepest fears and insecurities, the role of Jungian archetypes in human evolution and their applications to hero mythology, and where the proper purview of psychoanalytic ideas should be within human affairs. We hope you enjoy this combustible meeting between the psychoanalytic lens and the evolutionary one!Note: Though the discussion does get technical at times, a fair bit of time is spent defining ideas and concepts clearly to ensure anyone with any background is able follow. Episode 53 is a just-for-fun episode. We bring back our "Pick 3" idea... this time, with a focus on hip-hop. @TripTurlington finally rejoins the cast (after some time off to move in to a new place). As you'll hear, we all had a blast after getting the whole crew back together. Trip starts off lamenting the Pioneer announcement of the DDJ-RZ, and how it seems to be the controller everyone craving a Nexus setup could get for an easier-to-swallow price point, except that it still requires a laptop for operation. Afterwards we dig in, each sharing three different hip-hop tracks and talk about why we like them, why they are iconic, and whatever other little bits of trivia we feel like throwing in. From rap's infancy stage in the early 80s, to the golden age of the 90s, to modern-day sounds... there's something for just about any hip-hop fan in today's episode. Enjoy! Want to know our choices? You'll have to listen to find out! If you're a hip-hop fan, consider giving this episode a share! Note: Though we typically take a "PG-13" approach to The Passionate DJ Podcast... this is a hip-hop episode. Today's show contains explicit language... you've been warned!
