Did He-Man come out a few decades too late? I liked the movie, but does it have the power? Summer Games Fest hit Friday afternoon with a bang, Xbox brought the lancer, and immediately stepped on a rake. Meanwhile Nintendo finally revealed the game everyone knew about, as the Ocarina of time returns. Plus a new 21 Jump street is coming, but why the skip to 24?
At Summer Game Fest 2026, I sat down with Véronique Lallier, Chief Development Officer at IO Interactive, to talk about the explosive launch of 007 First Light — 2.7 million copies sold in its first week — and what's next for both James Bond and Hitman. We get into the 7-year journey to build the new 007, why First Light plays nothing like Hitman, reimagining Bond for a new generation while staying authentic, the star-studded cast (Patrick Gibson as the young Bond, plus Lenny Kravitz), launching across 14 platforms, Hitman crossing 1 billion eliminations, and the Wiz Khalifa Elusive Target coming to Hitman.Enjoying the channel? Hit the Hype button to help more people find this one, and subscribe to Spawn On Me for developer interviews, previews, and reviews.
At Summer Game Fest 2026, I sat down with IO Interactive's Matias (Principal Level Designer) and Hilde Sunde (Lead Environment Artist) to break down 007 First Light — the new James Bond game from the studio behind Hitman. We get into how IOI reimagined Bond for a new era, why First Light plays nothing like Hitman, the ammo-scarce combat that forces you to keep moving, the eavesdrop spy mechanic, and the wildly contrasting worlds — from a luxury Vietnam resort to the rough Mauritania desert. Plus dream Bond locations and the team's favorite 007 films. (Sorry, Pierce.)
The most wonderful and/or tedious time of the year has come once more: It's Not-E3 2026, when all of the video game giants share their biggest announcements for the year. As always, we're here to recap it, with thoughts on Sony's State of Play, the Summer Game Fest, and the Xbox Showcase, across which we saw the unveiling of God of War Laufey, the sooner-than-expected Final Fantasy VII Revelation, the long-awaited reveal of Persona 6 and more gameplay of Persona 4 Revival, and much more, including Xbox's completely incoherent exclusivity ‘strategy.' We also find some time to quickly review Saros, the new PS5 exclusive from Housemarque, and talk about 007 First Light from Hitman developers IO Interactive. A very silly Monthly Ten rounds out the episode, in which Jonathan pitches 10 Star Wars projects for Disney to announce and then quickly abandon. Enjoy! Somebody just paid the best part of eight grand for a James Bond watch that was designed for a video game before it was ever designed for a human wrist. And I'm genuinely tempted to be one of those somebodies. In this episode I read you my full, honest write-up of Omega's new Seamaster Diver 300M Chronograph “007 First Light”, the first-ever James Bond chronograph, and give you a take you won't get from any of the watch blogs, because I'm a tailor before I'm a watch person, and a lot of my clients are serious watch enthusiasts.I get into:•Why there's a Bond watch coming from a video game and not a film, and why that's cleverer than it sounds•The full specs, and why that 17.2mm thickness is the most controversial thing about it•Where it sits among the great Bond Omegas, from my own Casino Royale to the SPECTRE•The catch nobody mentions: it's not a limited edition•The tailor's angle: why this watch will not sit under a proper shirt cuff, and why that's actually perfect for the story it's telling•Whether it's a future classic or a future footnote, and whether you should buy oneRead the full written article on the blog, inked below.Got an opinion on the watch, the game, or whether Bond and gaming should mix? With 007 First Light releasing to rave reviews, and with us not having played it...we decided to weather the Summer Game Fest storm and do what we do best. Show up without an actual plan for an episode and wing it. However, we have a compelling case for why IO Interactive should ditch Amazon and instead make an Austin Powers game next. We also solve the decades-long question...what should Austin Powers 4 be about? We also finally discuss Grand Theft Auto 6 in this episode, so we are a topical gaming podcast finally.MORE PLACES TO FIND USCrubscribe ► https://bit.ly/CrubcastGet the show early and get exclusive content at our Patreon ► https://www.patreon.com/crubOur Crubcasts are recorded LIVE at https://www.twitch.tv/crub_official every Tuesday at 7pm Eastern, with EXCLUSIVE Pre- and Post-ShowsJoin our Discord ► https://crub.org/joinBlueSky ► https://bsky.app/profile/crub.orgCome join our Steam group ► https://steamcommunity.com/groups/crubclubPodcasts are available on Apple, Google, Spotify, and other platforms are available at ► https://crub.orgTODAY'S CRUBCAST HOSTSCassandra: https://www.youtube.com/@ThatTravGuyChris: https://www.youtube.com/@MykonosFanNicco: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCl56kbl3tb-KiGEHT7MUGUgMoriarty: https://www.youtube.com/@reallycoolCHAPTERS00:00 Yeah baby, yeah! 007 First Light is the new game from IO Interactive, the developers of the beloved stealth series Hitman. So you'd be forgiven for assuming this entry in the Bond canon would emphasize sleuthy spycraft. Instead, IOI created something akin to a season of James Bond television, spotlighting its strong story above everything else. Was that the right choice? It depends on which Besty you ask! First up — 007 First Light has officially launched! This brand-new James Bond game, developed and published by IO Interactive. The big question does it live up to the Bond legacy? Bob has thoughts. Lots of them. Then we're switching gears to Euphoria Season 3 — the season we've been waiting YEARS for. After a nearly four-year wait since Season 2 ended. Let's talk about the switch from highschool to modern day chaotic western and the decisions these characters are making.Theme:"Crunk Knight"Kevin MacLeod (incompetech.com)Licensed under Creative Commons: By Attribution 4.0http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/

Quatorze ans.

God of War Returns, and Wolverine is set for September. But so is every other game apparently. So while we all wait for GTA VI, we can now also wait even longer for Fable. Steam may have been hiding in plain sight as a villain all along, we now look to Lord Gaben for guidance. Spider-Noir is more Groucho than Cagney, but it might work in its favor. And Call of Duty is bringing us to East Asia.

That's the look of a new No Man's Sky update. This week, we've got impressions of the first few hours of IO Interactive's 007: First Light. What happens when you take James Bond, throw in a little Uncharted, and a little Hitman: World of Assassination? Apparently, you get one of the year's finest AAA offerings, because this game is amazing. We've also got a whole rundown on Bubsy 4D, now that the full game is out. And with a second Requiem playthrough completed, we've got a lot of talk on what works and what doesn't in the latest from Resident Evil. And there's some interesting news this week, on the lead-up to June's big slate of showcases. Check out the show on BlueSky @MarkersOnTheMap.

The next chapter of James Bond has arrived—and somehow, before many people have even played it, 007 First Light has already become another front in the internet culture war.In this episode of The Whitfield Report, Sam Whitfield takes a deep dive into the controversy surrounding IO Interactive's highly anticipated Bond game and asks the question few people online seem interested in answering honestly: Is 007 First Light actually “woke,” or is the backlash just another manufactured outrage cycle driven by politics, clickbait, and outrage for engagement? While longtime Bond fans have largely been celebrating the reveal of a fresh new 007 adventure, critics across the internet have been quick to turn every trailer frame, casting choice, and character detail into evidence for a larger political argument. But how much of that criticism is genuine—and how much of it is projection?Sam breaks down why 007 First Light feels like Bond through and through: sleek action, espionage, beautiful women, exotic locations, dangerous villains, fast cars, sharp style, and the classic swagger that has defined 007 for decades. From nods to Ian Fleming's original novels to the cinematic energy longtime fans expect, First Light looks far more interested in delivering a thrilling Bond story than serving any ideological agenda. This episode also explores the larger issue beneath the controversy: how modern entertainment is increasingly judged through a political lens before audiences even get a chance to experience it for themselves. Whether it's Hollywood films, TV series, comics, or video games, nearly everything now gets forced into the “woke vs. anti-woke” machine—and many fans are simply burned out by it.Sam dives into:Why 007 First Light has become an unexpected online culture war battlegroundWhether the accusations of “wokeness” actually hold up under scrutinyHow outrage-driven internet commentary often distorts entertainment discourse for clicksWhy many Bond fans are embracing the game while critics obsess over narratives around itHow 007 First Light honors the spirit of Bond without trying to reinvent him politicallyWhy audiences are increasingly exhausted by ideological gatekeeping in entertainmentHow independent creators are pushing back by focusing on storytelling, escapism, and fun over messagingMore than just a conversation about one game, this episode is about the broader state of entertainment in 2026—and why so many people are hungry for stories that entertain first without requiring a political litmus test.If you're a Bond fan, gamer, storyteller, or someone tired of endless outrage cycles consuming pop culture, this episode is for you.Because sometimes the best response is simple:Play the game. Watch the movie. Read the book. Decide for yourself. And in the case of 007 First Light… the real winner may just be the fan who wants a great James Bond adventure.Follow & Support The Whitfield Report:Listen on Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/4DIcoDO0BIDyuH7SWIsAB8Subscribe on YouTube: https://youtube.com/@WhitfieldReportReloadedWatch on Rumble: https://rumble.com/c/TheWhitfieldReportFollow Sam on X: https://x.com/SamW_NGCRead Sam's writing on Substack (Whitfield's Report): https://whitfieldsreport.substack.comSupport the show: https://buymeacoffee.com/whitfieldreport
Over All in the GameAll in the Game is de podcast over games voor iedereen. Het komt allemaal aan bod in All in the Game. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

First, in Patch Notes, they discuss the future of 'Destiny' and Bungie after the end of development on the almost decade-old 'Destiny 2,' and what the huge hikes in the price of Valve's Steam Deck portend for the Steam Machine, the current console generation, and the future of gaming. Then, they share their spoiler-free reviews of 'First Light,' James Bond's long-awaited return to gaming at the hands of 'Hitman' maker IO Interactive, and the much-anticipated 8-bit homage 'Mina,' from the makers of 'Shovel Knight.'Intro (0:00)Reactions to ‘Destiny 2' ending (1:28)Steamdeck price increases! The postman finally turns up, Roberto rips open the package convinced it's the new 007 First Light game... and it's a sample of curtain track. From there it only gets better. This is a totally candid, unfiltered weekend catch-up between Roberto and his Tailoring Talk Magazine co-host Jon Evans, recorded in one take, warts and all. Jon's been playing IO Interactive's new James Bond game 007 First Light for three days. Roberto's still waiting for his copy. So instead they get stuck into the thing that's actually turned Roberto's head: the watch.Omega has released the first-ever James Bond chronograph, the Seamaster Diver 300M "007 First Light", a real watch you can buy for just shy of £8,000, designed from the ground up for the game. In this bonus episode the two of them get into:Why a Bond watch is coming from a video game and not a filmHow the watch works as an actual gadget inside the game, and the Q Branch scene where you choose your ownWhether it's a cynical cash grab or a genuinely clever bit of Omega marketingThe big problem: it's NOT a limited edition, unlike Roberto's Casino Royale (1 of 10,007) and the SPECTRE (1 of 7,007)Whether it'll still become a collector's piece, and Jon's bold claim that the game itself belongs in the Bond canon alongside the filmsRoberto's "biggish birthday" and the portrait in the atticRoberto's full written review and the companion YouTube video will go deeper on the specs, the heritage, and whether it's a future classic. In today's Daily Fix:XBOX's rebooted Fable has suffered another delay, this time to February 2027. The reason given is the already packed second half of the year for games, but let's be real: Fable was scheduled to launch in the Fall, around the same window as Grand Theft Auto 6. The delay will give Fable some breathing room several months after Rockstar's behemoth drops. In related news, XBOX CEO Asha Sharma warned of more difficult choices ahead, but pointed to the lowering of the Game Pass price as a positive step. And finally, 007: First Light has become IO Interactive's fastest-selling game, moving a million and a half copies in its first day.
Jayden Grimes gives us his 8-Bit Update featuring the latest news from the gaming world, including Valve recently increasing the pricing of its Steam Deck models by $240 to $300, action-adventure video game 007 First Light developed and published by IO Interactive, NBA THE RUN is a fast-paced, online 3v3 street basketball game, and more.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

The Block Blast Android outage is the biggest shock — a game that big going dark on a major platform for an entire day with zero public explanation. The Monopoly Go licensing story is the most quietly important: Scopely paid Hasbro $41M last quarter alone, confirming the $168M/year run-rate that puts Monopoly Go in genuinely different stratosphere from everything else in social casino. What does this partnership mean for PS5 players, and why is Rockstar continuing to prioritize console audiences ahead of PC? We also discuss Sony's ongoing legal battle over PlayStation Store pricing and the controversial 30% digital storefront fee, including how the lawsuit could impact the future of digital game sales on PS5. Plus, we talk about Call of Duty officially moving beyond PS4, new impressions of IO Interactive's James Bond game 007: First Light, rumors surrounding Assassin's Creed Black Flag, Fairgames reportedly struggling in development, and early thoughts on Saros.
- Dead as Disco05.05. - Motorslice 07.05. - Mixtape07.05. - Alabaster Dawn07.05. - Will: Follow the Light Hosted on Acast.
