This week we put Black Panther: Wakanda Forever on trial. A cat-astrophe or positively paw-some? Joel and Dave aren't kitten around when they say this is the best Marvel film in a long time that has great action and furmidable performances. Gav and Ausy have their claws out as they say this is far infurior to what came before and that the plot had them chasing their tail. All this with an impression of Ulysses Klaue and a hissterical quiz about the making of this film. www.filmsontrial.co.uk/232

Tune in for Arthur's dissection of The Book of Boba Fett, the Disney+ Star Wars spinoff series that takes place after the events of Season 2 of The Mandalorian. For the first time ever, fabled bounty hunter Boba Fett is in the lead role as he—with the aid of assassin ally Fennec Shand—endeavors to take control of the criminal empire that had once been ruled by Jabba the Hutt and then Bib Fortuna. Yep, this means more time on the desert planet of Tatooine. In addition, Arthur touches on the 2022 Oscar nominees, gripes about TBOBF pulling a Ulysses Klaue, and gets some amusement out of trying to figure out what a “gonk's scomp jack” might be. Created by Jon Favreau, The Book of Boba Fett stars Temuera Morrison, Ming-Na Wen, David Pasquesi, Jennifer Beals, Sophie Thatcher, Jordan Bolger, Matt Berry, Carey Jones, Stephen Root, Danny Trejo, and Thundercat/Stephen Lee Bruner. Spoilers start at 20:00 Disney+'s The Book of Boba Fett blog review: https://2centscritic.com/2022/02/12/my-2-cents-on-disneys-the-book-of-boba-fett/ Resources: Polygon's “Book of Boba Fett is so much better when you realize Boba Fett is the series villain” by Tasha Robinson - https://www.polygon.com/star-wars/22929592/book-of-boba-fett-hero-vs-villain Good Word: X-Men: First Class Reach out at email2centscritic@yahoo.com if you want to recommend things to watch and read, share anecdotes, or just say hello! Introducing Wakanda, a highly advanced African country blessed with Vibranium from a meteorite, is hidden away from the world. T'Challa is the newly appointed King following the death of his father, taking on the role of Wakanda's protector, the Black Panther. T'Challa tracks black-market arms dealer Ulysses Klaue, wanted for stealing Vibranium technology. Unbeknownst to him, Klaue is working with Erik Killmonger, who is connected with T'Challa's late father's past that could jeopardise Wakanda's and the worlds way of life. The WHAT IF...? that's been plaguing everyone's mind - what if Tony never made it to the box-of-scraps-cave - finally answered this week on Marvel Studios' animated Disney+ series, "What If... Killmonger Rescued Tony Stark?" And guess what? Eduardo is back, baby! Join Eduardo, Peach3z, and Robbie as they discuss another week of multiversal shenanigans that primarily involves the question, "why is everyone falling for Erik's tomfoolery?"Assembly Required now has a Patreon! In Afghanistan, Tony Stark is ambushed by the Ten Rings, but is saved by Erik "Killmonger" Stevens. They return to Stark Industries, where Killmonger exposes Obadiah Stane's involvement in the ambush before helping Stark build a humanoid combat drone using vibranium. Needing more vibranium to create a drone army, they arrange for James Rhodes to purchase it from Ulysses Klaue. At Killmonger's behest, Klaue leaks word of the transaction to Wakanda to lure in T'Challa / Black Panther. Killmonger kills T'Challa and Rhodes, staging it to look as if they killed each other. Stark confronts Killmonger, but he kills Stark and makes it look like a Wakandan attack. Killmonger then kills Klaue and meets his family in Wakanda. Thaddeus Ross sends the drone army to attack Wakanda, but Killmonger helps the Wakandans stop them. They make Killmonger the new Black Panther. As the United States prepares to eradicate Wakanda, T'Challa's sister Shuri visits Stark's assistant Pepper Potts, who was suspicious of Killmonger, and proposes an alliance to stop him.
We talk about Black Panther and the things you missed if you never read the comics. Hear about Vibranium, Grace Jones, Wakanda, T'Challa, Killmonger, The Winter Soldier, and more! Talk with us on Twitter. Links from the discussion… T'Challa aka the Black Panther was created in 1966 by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby. Wakanda is a small African nation that is the most technologically advanced on Earth. The White Wolf was a white foreigner orphan in the comics that was adopted by T'Chaka. In the movie it's a name given to The Winter Soldier. Vibranium is an extremely rare metal that can absorb vibratory or kinetic energy. Dora Milaje are the personal bodyguards of the Black Panther. M'Baku had a problematic Gorilla costume in the Black Panther comics, but the character was handled very well in the MCU. Ulysses Klaue was the son of a Nazi war criminal and smuggled Vibranium out of Wakanda with help from Hydra. Killmonger in the comics was a Wakandan boy kidnapped by an associate of Ulysses Klaue. Black Panther by Christopher Priest Ta-nehisi Coates' influence on the Black Panther Mythos. Black Panther album produced by Kendrick Lamar & SZA. Black Panther original score by Ludwig Grandson. Black Panther and Storm were married but they are divorced now.
Marvel's Avengers: War For Wakanda Looks Like The Black Panther Game You Wanted Black Panther makes his debut in Marvel's Avengers in War for Wakanda, a large expansion coming August 16. Marvel's Avengers has not had a smooth first year, but as it approaches its one-year anniversary it's become that much more self-assured with a steady stream of quality-of-life updates and new content. It will be marking the end of August with War for Wakanda, an expansion based on and starring one of the Marvel universe's biggest heroes: Black Panther. In a hands-off preview, I saw an extended look at the first two stages of War for Wakanda, along with details of Black Panther's abilities in combat. I was impressed, not only by how well this appears to be paying respect to the breakout character, but by how different it looks from anything else that came in the main game or previous character-based expansions. In combat, Black Panther is a nimble melee fighter, but his agility and grace belies a level of ferocity that matches the animalistic name. He claws, kicks, and kinetic-blasts his way through enemies. In an interesting twist, though, many of his abilities grant passive buffs and debuffs, letting you boost your allies, weaken your enemies, and then rage your way through enemies to build up the energy to do it all again. His Ultimate ability, which summons the panther-god Bast, is a strong forward wave attack that also carries passive buffs or debuffs as you'd like. The initial mission sees T'Challa letting an enemy go intentionally so that they lead him to the real target, the villain Ulysses Klaue. His traversal through the jungle is marked by athletic sprinting and leaping. When he reaches the end of this initial area, which serves as the introduction to his abilities, a brief environmental puzzle explains the history of the Black Panther line. After that you step into the kingdom of Wakanda, a lush environment that beautifully integrates nature and Afrofuturist technology. We talk about Avengers: Age of Ultron and the things you missed if you never read the comics. Learn about Strucker, Wanda, Pietro, Hulk Buster, Ulysses Klaue, and more! Talk with us on Twitter. Strucker is a long lived character in the comics that didn't get much screen time in the movies before being killed off. Scarlet Witch is one of the most powerful magic wielders on Earth. Quicksilver was a member of the Avengers when they defeated Kang the Conquerer. In the comics the Iron Legion was a group of people led by War Machine to fight while Tony Stark was comatose. This group included Happy Hogan. Helen Cho is a minor character from the comics that gave birth to a son that eventually became a new Hulk. For a long time, Quicksilver and the Scarlet Witch were Magneto's children. But, that's been changed, mainly because of rights issues with Marvel and the X-men. There have been several Hulkbuster Armor suits in the comic books. Ultron gets killed in the comics but keeps coming back. Vision was created by Ultron from parts of the original Human Torch android. The Infinity Stones are also known as the Infinity Gems and the Soul Gems. It's true. Jarvis is growing more and more concerned with the growing schism between the MCU and the comics.
Avengers: Age of Ultron This time, we take a look at the techno God complex blockbuster, Avengers: Age of Ultron and along the way we ask, was this the last true standalone film in the MCU, how could ten seconds on the Internet make you want to destroy the world and how does Tony Stark make artificial intelligence look so easy? Let's dive in…. CAST & CREW Written and directed by Joss Whedon: Following the success of The Avengers in 2012, Disney and MCU architect Kevin Feige, immediately hired Whedon to write and direct the sequel for the series. Whedon drew inspiration from The Empire Strikes Back and The Godfather Part II when constructing the screenplay and character arcs The majority of the cast from the first film return to reprise their roles from the previous film including: Robert Downey Jr as Tony Stark/Iron Man Chris Evans as Steve Rogers/Captain America Chris Hemsworth as Thor Scarlett Johansson as Natasha Romanoff/Black Widow Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner/Hulk Jeremy Renner as Clint Barton/Hawkeye Cobie Smulders as Maria Hill Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury Paul Bettany as JARVIS/Vision Several familiar faces return to the MCU to reprise their roles from previous films as well as many newcomers: Don Cheadle as James Rhodes/War Machine Anthony Mackie as Sam Wilson/Falcon Aaron Taylor-Johnson as Pietro Maximoff/Quicksilver Elizabeth Olsen as Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch James Spader as Ultron Andy Serkis as Ulysses Klaue Creating Age of Ultron and the Unused Ideas As Whedon was essentially given carte blanche to do with the plot as he saw fit, several ideas were concocted for the film but would wind up being unused. These ideas included: Introducing Captain Marvel but this was shot down by Kevin Feige after concluding that it would be too early to introduce the character. She was later given her introduction in 2019's Captain Marvel Introducing the Maximoff twins caused speculation as to whether or not mutants would be introduced in the MCU but at the time of production, the X-Men and the rights to the characters in that series belonged to 20th Century Fox which had not yet been acquired by Disney. Given the studio's acquisition of the now named 20th Century Films, it's likely we will be seeing the mutants and their respective characters arrive in the MCU in the next several years. Recently, it has come out that Whedon and actor Paul Bettany wished to introduce Vision as being totally naked when he emerges from the Regeneration Cradle during the film's third act. This was also shot down by Kevin Feige given Disney's reputation as a family friendly studio It's also worthy to note that Age of Ultron really foreshadowed several moments or scenes in future films of the MCU which included: The coming conflict between Captain America and Iron Man in Civil War as well as fueling the motivations for the main villain, Baron Zemo, in that film. Through Thor's vision in the pool, the events of Ragnarok are teased and the eventual destruction of Asgard The introduction of Ulysses Klaue and the prominence of vibranium play a pivotal role in Black Panther The subsequent films in the Avengers series, Infinity War and Endgame, are alluded to with Tony experiencing a vision of his dead comrades as well as uttering the phrase “That's the endgame” at one point in the film. Thanos also makes an appearance during the film's mid-credits sequence as he picks up the Infinity Gauntlet saying “Fine, I'll do it myself”. Sean and Chris make note that while the MCU has had some truly great films in the series, Age of Ultron has stood out as being one of the last truly standalone films in the series overall. It certainly builds upon the events of The Avengers but it doesn't rely on the events of the Iron Man, Captain America or Thor films and makes an effort to be recognized as a standalone effort.
Ah, the sweet smell of another season gone by. We celebrate with lots of screaming from Leanor (seriously, don't wear headphones because you will no longer have ears after this episode), lots of unintelligible mumblings from Dad, and some other stuff that happened. What other stuff happened? Well, there was a lot of sighing over X-Men: The Last Stand, Shuri's Sneakers, Ulysses Klaue's Candy Shop, and Reed Richard's BFF - Matt the not-a-yoga-mat. We laugh, we fake cry, and we have a goldarned good time doing it. "Black Panther" tells the tale of Wakandan King T'Challa as he prepares to assume the throne following his father's death. His coronation is observed by an almost unified Wakanda, including T'Challa's mother Ramonda and his highly-intelligent sister Shuri. When the new king discovers that a long-standing enemy of their people, Ulysses Klaue, has stolen more vibranium, he sets out as the Wakandan protector Black Panther to finally catch him. The king travels to South Korea with his trusted guard Okoye and his girlfriend Nakia and manage to capture Klaue with the help of CIA agent Everett Ross. But the mysterious Erik Stevens, aka Killmonger, helps Klaue escape. Stevens kills Klaue and takes his body to Wakanda where he successfully challenges T'Challa to the throne, because he is of royal blood. Thinking their good king is dead, the kingdom is in chaos and our heroes must form a rebellion to stop Killmonger before he unleashes his wrath upon the world. Luckily, the true Black Panther returns to test his abilities and make everything right. Jay and Josh aren't fooling anyone with the pop rocks tucked under their lips on a hiatus special of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.: Case Files.

----------------------------------------------------------- 0h 28m 40s Dossier ‘Black Panther’. We will likely see more black heroes on screen: Shuri as Ironheart? https://twitter.com/Bosslogic/status/964768497468239872 Blade? War Machine? Falcon? Assuming Cap, Thor, and Tony all die or don't return after Avengers 4, this leaves T'Challa (and maybe Doctor Strange?) as the new face of the MCU and the new main box office draw. Along with Captain Marvel, this means a very, very different Phase 4 cast. Does this setup Martin Freeman as Everett K. Ross in Captain Marvel? Is Everett K. Ross the new Agent Coulson? After two weeks of faffing about, we finally get around to doing Marvel's "Black Panther"! We kick it off with a heartfelt eulogy to Ulysses Klaue, featuring some wonderful wordsmithery from Tobias, before sinking our cat claws into Ryan Coogler's latest. Note: Though it sounds like Maciej is slowly huffing his way through a key of Colombian snow this episode, it's actually his hay fever playing up. We apologise for any discomfort this may cause; any complaints can be forwarded to the dust mites currently attacking his sinuses. Enjoy!
