The Avengers: Doomsday trailer has fans convinced there are two Doctor Dooms in this movie, and that one of them might not be Robert Downey Jr. at all. Frank and Squeaks break down the eye color, the two suits, and the Cillian Murphy voice theory, then look at what happens to Marvel when Kevin Feige's contract runs out in 2027. From there it turns into a full state of the franchises. The Feige succession list runs from Brad Winderbaum to Louis D'Esposito to one genuine wild card pick, before Star Wars gets put on the table: the Ahsoka trailer, Thrawn's return, Starfighter, and whether the Rey movie ever actually happens. Then Pirates of the Caribbean, where Disney is reportedly writing two competing scripts, and Frank pitches the real seventeenth century pirate queen whose story would beat both of them. Plus a Dungeon Crawler Carl check-in and a Question of the Week about how you would prove someone is an alien. 0:00 Intro and BlizzCon Countdown 1:34 Question of the Week: How Do You Test for an Alien 3:16 The Two Doctor Dooms Theory 11:05 Who Replaces Kevin Feige in 2027 22:36 Star Wars Without the Skywalker Name 29:33 Ahsoka, Thrawn, and the Sequel Era Gaps 34:15 Pirates of the Caribbean and Its Two Competing Scripts 46:22 Dungeon Crawler Carl Check-In Key takeaways: The two Doom theory rests on three small trailer details: the eyes reading green in one shot and closer to blue in another, two distinct suits, and a voice some fans think sounds more like Cillian Murphy than RDJ. There is precedent too, since dueling Dooms from different universes is the current main story in Marvel Rivals. Frank's argument for a recast is about longevity. RDJ's betrayal only works once as a surprise, so if Doom is meant to carry the MCU past Secret Wars, you need an actor you can keep around. The Feige succession shortlist: Brad Winderbaum brings television experience and would likely greenlight Midnight Sons immediately, Louis D'Esposito is the operations veteran who would need a creative partner like the Russos, and Frank's wild card is Iman Vellani, who is now writing comics for Marvel and Image. Both hosts want Star Wars to break from the Skywalker name completely, with Dave Filoni doing for the sequels what The Clone Wars did for the prequels. Frank also makes the case that Ahsoka, not Rey, is the real heir to the Anakin lineage. Disney has two Pirates scripts in play, one led by Margot Robbie as Red and one featuring younger versions of the original cast. Squeaks calls the Red version predictable, and Frank counters with Zheng Yi Sao, a real pirate commander the Chinese government eventually had to negotiate with instead of fight. Frank: "I'd actually respect Marvel for keeping a secret for once." Frank: "I've been hurt too many times by Kevin Feige." Squeaks: "It's time to go away from the Skywalker in total." Frank: "The true descendant to Anakin is not Rey. It's not even Luke. Frankly, it is Ahsoka." Squeaks: "That's the same thing we see everywhere. Find something new." All news discussed on this episode comes from GeekFreaksPodcast.com. Mike Kalinowski and John Rocha are taking over The Kristian Harloff Show today to break down the biggest movie and entertainment news! The main conversation turns to Star Wars: Starfighter as director Shawn Levy reveals a major detail about the state of the galaxy following Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker — there is reportedly "no governing order." What does that mean for the future of Star Wars? Mike and Rocha discuss how Starfighter could reshape the post-Skywalker Saga era, what a galaxy without the New Republic or another central government might look like, and whether this gives Lucasfilm the opportunity to take Star Wars in a completely new direction. Plus, Fast Forever is reportedly targeting a December production start as the Fast & Furious franchise prepares for its next chapter. The writer of Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow has also spoken about the recent Supergirl movie following its $125.8 million theatrical run and what the experience could mean for the future of the DCU. And could Zack Snyder return to the world of 300? A new report claims the long-discussed 300 prequel TV series may be heading to Netflix with Snyder attached to direct. Mike and Rocha discuss what a return to the franchise could look like and whether Netflix is the right home for the project. Today's show is headlined by the future of Star Wars and the first major clues about what the galaxy looks like after The Rise of Skywalker. Mike and Rocha discuss whether removing a central galactic government could give Lucasfilm a fresh start and what that might mean for Starfighter and future Star Wars movies. Before transporting back to the Mesozoic era, they cover Mallory's trip to D23 and react to myriad announcements, most crucially the casting for the upcoming X-Men movie. Then, they briefly discuss ‘The Last House' (a film they found utterly dreadful) before diving into ‘The End of Oak Street' (a film they found wildly entertaining and incredibly fascinating). Later, they each provide their top five favorite ‘Twilight Zone' movies. Finally, Sean is joined by actor Will Poulter to discuss his new film, ‘Union County,' and why he's pushing himself out of his comfort zone with roles that scare him. In Episode 157, hosts Alyce and Laura are* worried about Olivia Coleman in the upcoming movie, Wicker. I mean… splinters… There are a lot of corrections. We're not sorry though, our Caravan of Corrections gives us content during slow news cycles Star Wars Visions: The Ninth Jedi series dropped all episodes on August 5. Have you watched? Bae (aka Ewan McGregor) and Anne Hathaway are out here promoting their new non-Jurassic-Park dinosaur movie, but the real news is Bae still wants to do more Obi-Wan. The Mando movie won the week on Video on Demand, but that victory is equivalent to being the best shot in a platoon of stormtroopers. But this dude claiming to be the CEO of Disney says a win is a win. Starfighter keeps on Starfighting, this time in the MCU. “I can't wait to watch Robot Chicken at the Lucas Museum,” said someone who only kinda browsed this article. This week on Science Faction, life milestones collide with pop culture as Ben celebrates finally paying off over two decades of student loans while Devon contemplates a lifetime of payments. The crew also dives into Star Trek, Mothership, San Diego Comic-Con reveals, Avatar: The Last Airbender, Cowboy Bebop, and an unexpectedly deep rabbit hole exploring the technology behind the original Jurassic Park. As always, it's a mix of real life, science fiction, and everything wonderfully nerdy in between. Real Life Ben reached a major milestone this week by finally paying off his student loans after 21 years. It's the kind of accomplishment that deserves a celebration, especially considering how many people are still carrying student debt decades after graduating. Devon balanced out the optimism by joking that he's probably never going to finish paying his off. Steven has been spending time with Mothership: Wages of Sin, another adventure for the acclaimed sci-fi horror RPG. If you're interested in checking it out, you can find it here: https://www.tuesdayknightgames.com/collections/mothership Ben also finds himself in an unfamiliar situation: waiting on absolutely nothing. Instead, he talked about his latest favorite gadget, the Clicks Keyboard for smartphones: https://www.clicks.tech/powerkeyboard The Star Trek discussion continued with Star Trek: Axanar – The Gathering Storm, where Faran Tahir's appearance was a welcome surprise. You can watch it here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xFpTiIHNTJ0&pp=ygUGYXhhbmFy That naturally led into Star Trek: Strange New Worlds Season 4's episode Valles Marineris, which managed to answer the timeless question: What if Star Trek had dinosaurs? The crew discusses whether that's exactly what Trek needed—or never knew it needed. https://memory-alpha.fandom.com/wiki/Valles_Marineris_(episode) Future or Now San Diego Comic-Con brought plenty of announcements to unpack, including new reveals surrounding Avengers: Doomsday, Spider-Man: Brand New Day, Jean-Pool, and the surprise pairing of Ghost Rider and Starfighter. Ryan Reynolds continues to find creative ways to keep Deadpool in the spotlight. https://entertainmentnow.com/marvel-studios-movies-comics/ryan-reynolds-sdcc-deadpool/ Ben also rounds up several pieces of Avatar: The Last Airbender news, including the upcoming animated Aang film and the newly announced sequel series, Avatar: Seven Havens. https://www.inverse.com/entertainment/avatar-aang-the-last-airbender-in-theaters https://www.inverse.com/entertainment/avatar-seven-havens-release-date-revealed After finally finishing the original Cowboy Bebop anime and its movie, Ben shares his thoughts on why the series has remained such a classic for nearly three decades. The conversation then shifts into one of the nerdiest rabbit holes imaginable: a painstaking technical breakdown of every computer seen in the original Jurassic Park. It's a fascinating look at how the filmmakers blended real hardware with Hollywood magic. https://fabiensanglard.net/jurrasic_park_computers/index.html That naturally prompts Devon to shout, "SAM NEILL DIED! LET'S TALK ABOUT IT!" before everyone remembers they're actually talking about his characters. The discussion quickly turns into a debate over Sam Neill's best science fiction performance. Is it the cosmic horror masterpiece Event Horizon (1997), or the vampire thriller Daybreakers (2009)? To wrap things up, the crew also highlights Jurassic Systems, a fan project dedicated to faithfully recreating the iconic computer interfaces from Jurassic Park. https://www.jurassicsystems.com/ As always, expect plenty of tangents, questionable opinions, and passionate debates about dinosaurs, spaceships, anime, and why fictional operating systems from 1993 still look cooler than the ones we use today.
It sounds like the next Star Wars movie, 2027's Starfighter, will attempt to tell a brand new story using a classic Star Wars approach and of course, Ryan Gosling. No Skywalkers to be found, but plenty of “swashbuckling adventure” according to its writer Jonathan Tropper. We'll dig into his recent comments and discuss how important Starfighter has become to the future of Star Wars. Plus a round of our segment Will of the Force, and your live Star Wars questions! If you like having a great time talking Star Wars, you've found your home, because if you're listening or watching this broadcast, you are part of The Resistance! The Last Starfighter is wish fulfillment the movie. A teenager hoping for bigger things gets called to action because of his sick arcade skills. That call is to become a starfighter in the coming war with the treacherous Xur. It's a charming, silly little film that definitely sought to capitalize on moviegoer's continued love of the Star Wars franchise. In spite of horrid effects and a cornball script, it mostly works. And it has become an 80s cult classic. That nostalgic love, though, was not enough to earn it a sequel — an idea that has been floating somewhere in the vacuous space of development hell for a couple decades. Now, sit back, prepare to fight the Ko-Dan Armada with an Imperial Luau Krunkles from Terrapin Beer Co., and watch out for shape-shifting assassins! The Thunderous Wizard, Chumpzilla, and Bling Blake are desperate to be recruited to the Star League! This Week's Segments: Introduction/Plot Breakdown – For every Earthling who's ever dreamed of adventures beyond the stars, comes the astonishing story of one who made it! Lingering Questions – Does the dated CGI cause The Last Starfighter to crash and burn? (33:51) The "I Need an Ear Job" Trivia Challenge – Chumpzilla challenges the field to trivia about the movie. (52:09) Recommendations – We offer our picks for the week and next up: We continue our Insert Coin Flops series with 1994's Street Fighter! Apple TV's “Lucky” joins the platform's growing collection of prestige shows about attractive, deeply stressed people having the worst week of their lives. “Presumed Innocent,” “Hijack,” “Your Friends & Neighbors”—the streamer has become weirdly good at watching people sprint from one life-altering disaster to the next.Anya Taylor-Joy's title character has a slightly more complicated relationship with disaster than most. Raised by a con artist, Lucky became an exceptional one herself before spending years trying to leave that life behind. When a multimillion-dollar job goes wrong, she is forced back into the world she escaped, pursued by law enforcement, criminals, and a family history she has never completely outrun.READ MORE: ‘The Agency' Season 2: Jeffrey Wright & John Magaro Talk Spycraft, ‘The Batman: Part II,' ‘Presumed Innocent' Season 2 & More [Bingeworthy Podcast]

Josh Dean explains the Skunk Works method through the development of the F-104 Starfighter. Johnson demanded total control and minimal oversight from the Air Force, focusing on speed and climb. His test pilots, including Tony LeVier, formed an intimate, trusted team that operated like "cowboys". (7)1951
SCHEDULE FOR THE JBS, 7-9-2026.1930 BRAZIL ARGENTINA WORLD CUP.Anatol Lieven discusses the impact of the Ukraine war on Russian consumers and potential peace terms. He suggests Russia might settle if it abandons Donbass demands, provided the West bars Ukrainian NATOmembership. Currently, the Russian military is advancing slowly while enduring huge casualties and economic suffering. (1)ZAnatol Lieven explores a potential peace compromise and the risks of escalation. He notes that while Ukraine can make Russia suffer via drone strikes on energy infrastructure, aerial bombardment alone will not force a surrender. A single miscalculation could lead to a direct clash between Russia and NATO. (2) Mary Anastasia O'Grady reports on the earthquake tragedy in Venezuela and the incompetence of the Rodriguezregime. She details how officials like Diosdado Cabello hinder rescue efforts to hide illicit activities. Meanwhile, the opposition leader María Corina Machado is being blocked from returning to the country. (3) Mariam Wahba reports on the brutal persecution of Christians under the Chinese Communist Party's"sinicization" policy. This effort involves rewriting the Bible and mandating state-sanctioned clergy to ensure religion serves the state. Despite this, the underground church continues to grow, posing a challenge to CCPauthority. (4) Josh Dean introduces Kelly Johnson, the brilliant engineer behind the P-38 fighter. Born to hardworking Swedishparents, Johnson overcame poverty to become a legend in aviation. His industrious nature and early mastery of aeronautics led him to Lockheed, where he would transform the industry during WWII. (5) Josh Dean describes the early days of the Lockheed Corporation and the birth of Skunk Works. After saving the company by fixing the Electra, Kelly Johnson promised a jet fighter in just six months. Operating out of a circus tent, his team produced the P-80 in 143 days. (6) Josh Dean explains the Skunk Works method through the development of the F-104 Starfighter. Johnsondemanded total control and minimal oversight from the Air Force, focusing on speed and climb. His test pilots, including Tony LeVier, formed an intimate, trusted team that operated like "cowboys". (7) Josh Dean details the CIA-led U-2 program, designed for high-altitude reconnaissance over the Soviet Union. To achieve 70,000 feet, Johnson created a lightweight glider-like plane. This required the invention of specialized pressure suits for pilots, providing nearly 75% of intelligence gathered during the Cold War. (8) Josh Dean explores the Area 51 mysteries and the Gary Powers incident. Many UFO sightings were actually spy planes like the U-2, tested in secret. Despite the shootdown of Powers in 1960, Johnson had already begun developing the Mach 3.2 Blackbird to maintain an intelligence advantage. (9) Josh Dean recounts Kelly Johnson's creation of the world's first drone for reconnaissance and his failed pitch for an A-12 bomber. He clashed with Defense Secretary Robert McNamara, who ordered the destruction of A-12tools. The segment also highlights Johnson's personal life on his California ranch. (10) Josh Dean highlights Kelly Johnson's struggle with anxiety and health, alongside the emergence of stealth technology. Under his successor Ben Rich, Skunk Works developed the F-117 Nighthawk. Utilizing facets to scatter radar, this "hopeless diamond" proved that an invisible plane was mathematically possible. (11) Josh Dean summarizes Kelly Johnson's 14 rules, emphasizing simplicity and speed. These principles required small teams and minimal paperwork to innovate effectively. Before passing away in 1990, Johnson witnessed a final emotional flyover of his iconic Blackbird, marking the end of a legendary aviation era. (12) Thomas Savage warns that the US national debt is reaching dangerous levels relative to GDP. He explains that rising interest costs are now exceeding national defense spending, which threatens to stifle the productive economy and lead to a decreased standard of living for the average American taxpayer. (13) Thomas Savage argues for stringent budget reforms and spending cuts to address the fiscal crisis. He notes that while many elected officials recognize the problem, the priority of political reelection prevents them from making unpopular decisions, leaving the country in a cycle of unsustainable federal spending. (14) Cliff May explores the historical link between socialism and Islamism, tracing partnerships from early Bolsheviksto the Iranian Revolution. These alliances often end in violence and purges of leftists, as seen when Ayatollah Khomeini executed communist leaders. He warns that these ideologies generally favor oppressive one-party states. (15) Veronique de Rugy uses a 700-year-old Siena fresco to discuss the virtues of good governance. The artwork illustrates that a flourishing society requires the rule of law and justice. She cautions that modern industrial policies and government cronyism represent the same arbitrary governance the fresco warns against. (16) Note: the source had mid-sentence phrases bolded; I've stripped those and kept bolding to proper nouns per house style. Also corrected Tony LeVier (capital V).
