In the last installment for the David Lynch miniseries, THIS AMERICAN LIFE, Mason and Heaven discuss the 2001 film, MULHOLLAND DRIVE. They discuss the All American Girl trope and lack of diversity in David Lynch's films, The American Dream and how it looks different depending on your race, religion, gender, and what part of the world you come from. The American Dream isn't as prevalent as culture would lead you to believe. We also discuss how actors have had to adapt to the Hollywood beauty standard and the lasting impact Lynch has made on pop culture. It's On The List and The Barn can be found wherever you stream podcasts or right here:https://linktr.ee/itsonthelistSupport me:https://linktr.ee/FromMyLipsPod
CW: Sexual assault, domestic abuse, and incestFor the third installment of THIS AMERICAN LIFE, Heaven and Mason analyze the film, TWIN PEAKS: FIRE WALK WITH ME. They discuss the facade of Suburbia, the Knight and Shining armor motif that runs through this film, specifically with the characters Dale Cooper and James. They also revisit the Dead Girl trope and why art gravitates towards using dead women as character devices to move a story forward, as well as how the cycle of abuse can seem never ending. It's On The List and The Barn can be found wherever you stream podcasts or right here:https://linktr.ee/itsonthelistSupport me:https://linktr.ee/FromMyLipsPod
On the second installment of the David Lynch series, THIS AMERICAN LIFE, Mason and I discuss BLUE VELVET (1986). We discuss the Golden Age of Capitalism, as David Lynch grew up in the 1950's, how the Boomer generation has taken and depleted the Earth's resources making younger generations re-think their futures. Another topic we tackle is America's issues with sex and reputation for sexual repression in relation to Frank Booth and Jeffery Beaumont and how women owning their sexuality can be frightening. We discuss the Boy Scout trope Lynch loves to explore in his films with male protagonists and finally we ask the question: is BLUE VELVET misogynist? In the first installment of the new David Lynch mini series, THIS AMERICAN LIFE, Heaven and Mason discuss David Lynch's childhood, his days in art school, how he came about making films, his family life, how Lynch himself sees himself as a father, and how it relates to his first film, ERASERHEAD.Heaven and Mason dissect Lynch's reluctance to fatherhood, the Starving Artist trope, how the mentality "Pull yourself up by your bootstraps" is an American way of thinking that in order to be successful, one must have to suffer financially and work through the pain in order to achieve success, and how art is too under appreciated for artists to be respected when asking for money to make art. Description You’re On The List is a weekly comedy podcast hosted by comedians Bret Ernst and Pete Giovine. The show features an occasional guest as the guys discover this week “Top 10 List. Website https://thenetworkstudios.com/ Opinion This started off awful. You explain that you are winging it, you give us an update on how the sausage is being made (Facebook is not working) and then say hello to someone in the venue. Your volume was all over the place. It is probably not fair, but about 99% of the time when I hear a show start off in this direction it is an absolute waste of my time. You didn't let me know what the show is about, and you didn't let me know what the episode is about. It sounds like you needed to be a little more organized before pressing record.Get A Full ReviewIf you’d like a full review of your podcast, check out Podcast Review Show or if you need Podcast Consulting, Book an Appointment TodayBe On The ShowSign up at Fiverr. comOnce a quarter we will pull one of the podcasts featured on this show to get a full review on the Podcast Review Show.
