Hoy hablaremos de “Michael”Antoine Fuqua, un director que suele sentirse cómodo en el realismo más crudo y la testosterona de Training Day, da un giro de 180 grados para entregarnos un biopic que respira la grandilocuencia que el personaje exige. Pero seamos honestos: ¿quién es realmente Michael Jackson? Hablamos del hombre que dejó de ser una persona para convertirse en una unidad de medida de la fama. Es el barómetro con el que medimos el genio absoluto y, al mismo tiempo, la fragilidad más desgarradora.Lo interesante de esta propuesta es que Fuqua y su equipo han entendido algo fundamental: no puedes meter cincuenta años de una vida tan sísmica en dos horas y media sin que la historia termine pareciendo un resumen de Wikipedia. Por eso, han tomado una decisión valiente: esta es la Primera Parte. La cinta nos lleva desde los días de Gary, Indiana, con los Jackson 5, hasta el clímax absoluto de la era Thriller y el inicio de la era Bad. Es la anatomía de un ascenso al trono, el momento exacto en que un niño prodigio se transmuta en una deidad intocable.Y claro, el elefante en la habitación: ¿quién se atreve a ponerse esos mocasines? El elegido fue Jaafar Jackson. Y antes de que alguien levante la ceja por el apellido, hay que decir que no está ahí por nepotismo, sino tras un proceso de casting global que duró dos años. Jaafar tuvo que demostrar que no solo compartía el ADN, sino esa energía eléctrica y casi etérea de su tío. A significant part of the Michael marketing involved the creative team behind other projects. Antoine Fuqua directed the film, most famously known for his film Training Day. The film was produced by Graham King, who produced Bohemian Rhapsody. The production of Michael was not nearly as tumultuous as the Queen biopic. It's time for another movie review on Trve. Cvlt. Fvlm! it's a bonus one as well, as Steve looks at the recently released Michael Jackson biopic, the imaginatively titled Michael. Directed by Training Day director Antoine Fuqua, starring Jackson's own nephew Jaafar Jackson in the title role and (UH OH!) brought to you by the producers of Bohemian Rhapsody, Michael looks at the life of the biggest pop star of all time from his humble beginnings in 1966 to the height of his fame on the Bad tour in 1988. In between we get all of the usual music biopic tropes, but with Jackson's life being significantly different to those artists whose lives have recently received a cinematic retelling, it's an oddly uncanny plot that Michael hangs on. Does it work or is it more music biopic cut and past slop? You're about to find out!
