Following their discovery by Dres of Black Sheep and signed to his sub record label, the group The Legion consisting of three members Cee Low, Molecules and Chucky Smash released their debut album Theme+Echo=Krill in 1994. Though it did not sell well, it does have great production and includes gems like Jingle Jangle and Legion Groove. This is a guaranteed great listen for anyone who gives it a spin. https://www.tiktok.com/@brandonhetzel996?_t=ZT-8wH5viV63H4&_r=1 https://www.instagram.com/str8_the_clippa?igsh=cTBzNnFhenRkN3Nl&utm_source=qr https://www.facebook.com/share/19Fk2bXWod/?mibextid=wwXIfr

On this episode of #LatinosOutLoud, #RachelLaLoca is on location with trailblazing Latina mixologist, cookbook author, and owner of Julep Houston, Alba Huerta whose unparalleled talent and dedication to her craft have earned her a distinguished place in the world of mixology. The two met up at Jingle Jangle on Pier 17 in NYC for a festive chat. Alba takes us to school and teaches Rachel how to make two very easy, yet elaborate cocktails--PERECT to bring to your holiday parties or while just kicking it with your chestnuts by the open fire. Her innovative approach to curating craft cocktails has not only won her numerous awards but also elevated the status of mixology as a respected art form. As a Latina woman in a predominantly white male industry, Alba's success is a beacon of inspiration for aspiring mixologists and entrepreneurs everywhere. Alba's Mexican heritage deeply influences her cocktail creations, blending traditional Latin flavors with contemporary mixology techniques. In a time when representation and diversity are more important than ever, Alba Huerta's story is one of resilience, creativity, and cultural pride. Her accolades and achievements highlight the rich contributions of Latina women to the culinary world but also inspire a broader audience to appreciate the artistry and skill involved in mixology. Beyond joining the Williams Sonoma Chefs' Collective and her book winning an IACP award, Alba is decorated with honors from top-tier publications: one of Entrepreneur's 100 Most Influential Women (2023), Thrillist's Best Bartenders in America, Houston Chronicle's 50 Most Fascinating People, Food & Wine honoring her as a rising-star female mixologist, and more. Much of psychological science is about measurement. Bu are we any good at it? How could we do (even) better? Ruben Arslan and Farid Anvari argue that researchers often act like there was no past, inventing ever new tests without re-using, improving or even referring to what already exists. This unchecked proliferation of tests has left many subfields of psychology fragmented, as research findings are often not comparable to others. But Ruben and Farid also offer a path forward and argue that there is much to be happy about in psychological measurements—it often works surprisingly well. Listen to find out why 0.42 is (not really) a magic number and how scientific debate can inspire a rap battle. Hosted by René Mõttus.
Send us a textAdvertising. Even just saying the word makes people roll their eyes, since the culture has managed to find ways to cram ads into every bloody crevice in the universe now. We even pay extra just to skip them a lot of the time. But it wasn't always that way, was it? Back in the last golden age of advertising (in the '80s and '90s, which was basically the last best time for everything pop-cultural), ads were actually a form of entertainment in and of themselves. In this edition of FYF, Saint and Jim take a look back at the retro ads of their youth, which — despite being little but crass marketing — still have the ability to evoke a very specific brand of nostalgia. So get your skis shined up, grab a stick of Juicy Fruit, and put this in your earholes.

It's no Jingle Jangle.
It's both Lanfear-appearance and Lanfear-interference (same thing). For ch. 24–25, we talk about the Rod Holder, Theoden King Wannabes, the Power of God and Anime, the Moridin Pieta, and we ask: Where's the Jingle-Jangle of It All?
He's just a little guy! Anyway, for ch. 20–21, we're Going Off the Map (in a bad way). Also, Demandred Is a Dumpling, Egg's Got That Dog in Her, It's Lobotomy Tent: Part Two, and Androl Fails to Ocean's Eleven Us.

It may be a modern Netflix tale, but many of the stars from this movie are quite familiar and nostalgic for us! Even though this is just a quick bonus episode, we hope you enjoy one last rewatch with us. And to Cordell, whose persistence inspired this, we're so happy we finally took your suggestion!

No creative tie in to the world this time gang. Instead its just me, Cam, talking to you, the listener, about how we screwed up (except Evɛn). I know it is unbelievable, but hear me out. We explain it pretty quickly in the first 8ish minutes. Long story short, I didn't get the master file and everyone had personal audio issues I could not fix. So here we are, a week later, with a summary of the episode done in complete Forever DMs fashion: where we spend 10 minutes discussing cartoons and then eventually poorly describe what hour and thirty minutes you all missed. Anyways, next week is the finale. So that will be cool. Seeya there! Get bonus content on Patreon Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

The Therapy for Black Girls Podcast is a weekly conversation with Dr. Joy Harden Bradford, a licensed Psychologist in Atlanta, Georgia, about all things mental health, personal development, and all the small decisions we can make to become the best possible versions of ourselves. This week I'm joined by Jordan A. Madison, licensed clinical marriage and family therapist and contributing writer to the Therapy for Black Girls blog. We discussed some of the more common feelings associated with blending families for the first time, what about the holidays overall can cause tension amongst family members, how you can maintain your wellness practices while other people are staying in your home or you're staying in someone else's, and how to tell your family you're not coming home for the holidays.
