If the first most important question you could ever ask is "What is God like?" then the second is just as crucial: "What does God think about me?"In this session, Pastor Kelly Kinder explores the three ways we tend to see ourselves — through the eyes of others, through our own subjective lens, and through the eyes of God — and why only one of those perspectives reflects reality. What God thinks about you outweighs every opinion and every self-doubt you've ever carried. From there, the session walks through four truths that form the foundation of our relationship with God: we are sinners who have missed the mark, we are deeply loved by God even in that condition, we can be fully forgiven through the work of Jesus on the cross, and — perhaps most remarkably — we are invited into friendship with God Himself. Along the way, Pastor Kelly shares a powerful story that illustrates the kind of love God has for us, and offers an opportunity to respond personally to the gospel. This isn't just theology to agree with — it's an invitation to make it personal. If you've never explored what God really thinks about you, this session is a great place to start. This is part of the Foundations class at Trinity Community Church, taught by Pastor Kelly Kinder and Pastor Mark Medley. We are Trinity Community Church in Knoxville, Tennessee.Subscribe to our Podcast & YouTube channel to find past sermons, classes, interviews, and more!Find us on Facebook & Instagram
The Bible isn't just another book — it's the very breath of God. But do we treat it that way?In this session, Pastor Kelly Kinder explores what makes the Bible unlike anything else ever written and why it matters for your daily life. Starting with the Bible's own claim about itself in 2 Timothy 3:16, he walks through four things Scripture is designed to do: show us the path, point out where we've gone wrong, put us back on track, and train us in how to live it out. From there, the session covers three foundational truths about the Word of God. First, it's accurate — perfect and sure, reliable enough that even secular scholars affirm its remarkable preservation across thousands of years. Pastor Kelly shares a memorable illustration about a man and a barometer that drives home what happens when we ignore what God's Word is telling us. Second, the Bible has the power to produce new life — it's the seed through which we are born again. And third, it's the daily nourishment we need to grow. Just as the Israelites needed fresh manna every day in the wilderness, we need fresh engagement with Scripture to stay spiritually healthy and mature. This session is a challenge and an encouragement to stop depending on others to feed you spiritually and to take personal responsibility for getting into the Word of God — through reading, study, memorization, and meditation.
Why does the church baptize people? And what's really happening when we take the bread and the cup together? These aren't just religious traditions — they're practices that Jesus Himself commanded and established for the life of His church. In this session, Pastor Kelly Kinder walks through the meaning and significance of two foundational practices in the Christian faith: water baptism and the Lord's Supper. Starting with the Great Commission in Matthew 28, he explains that both are acts of obedience that carry deep spiritual meaning — not as rituals that save us, but as powerful expressions of what God has already done inside us.Baptism, Pastor Kelly explains, is an outward picture of an inward reality. Like a wedding ring doesn't make you married but declares that you are, baptism doesn't produce the new birth — it proclaims it. Going under the water pictures death and burial with Christ; coming up out of the water pictures resurrection into new life. That's why Scripture points to baptism by immersion, and why watching someone get baptized is one of the most encouraging moments in the life of a church. The Lord's Supper, instituted by Jesus on the night before His crucifixion, is an invitation to remember His sacrifice and to be spiritually nourished by Him. It's a covenant meal — what the early church called a love feast — and it's meant to be received with seriousness, self-examination, and an awareness of the community of believers around us.This is part of the Foundations class at Trinity Community Church, taught by Pastor Kelly Kinder and Pastor Mark Medley. We are Trinity Community Church in Knoxville, Tennessee.Subscribe to our Podcast & YouTube channel to find past sermons, classes, interviews, and more!Find us on Facebook & Instagram
Here's a truth that can be hard to accept: you cannot live the Christian life alone. Faith in Christ is personal, but it was never meant to be private. In this session, Pastor Kelly Kinder explains why fellowship with other believers isn't optional — it's essential to how God designed the Christian life to work. The faith that connects us to Christ also connects us to one another, and the New Testament uses rich metaphors to describe what that looks like: the church as a field, a building, a body, a bride, a family, a house, and a temple. Each picture reveals something different about how believers are meant to function together.Pastor Kelly gives special attention to the metaphor of the body, drawing from Romans 12 and 1 Corinthians 12 to show that every member is necessary, every member is unique, and every member has gifts that the rest of the body needs. He walks through seven spiritual gifts — prophecy, serving, teaching, exhortation, giving, leadership, and mercy — and challenges listeners to use what God has given them rather than comparing themselves to others or trying to go it alone. The phrase "one another" appears more than fifty times in the New Testament, and Pastor Kelly makes the case that those commands can only be lived out when we're in real, consistent relationship with other believers — especially in smaller group settings. The session closes with an honest acknowledgment: it would be easier to follow God without having to deal with other people. But a community of believers learning to love each other in the power of the gospel brings more glory to God than any one person could on their own.
Same God Hebrews 13:8 Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever. God is the same God today as He is in the Bible– our road map, the living word He is still that same God. Exodus 16:4 4 Then the Lord said to Moses, I will rain down bread from heaven for you. The people are to go out each day and gather enough for that day. In this way I will test them and see whether they will follow my instructions. 5 On the sixth day they are to prepare what they bring in, and that is to be twice as much as they gather on the other days. Our God But the manna forced daily dependence and obedience. God is the same on the mountain and in the valley! Praise You in this storm God is the same God who sent his son to die on the cross for us! God is the same God.
In this message, Pastor Kelly teaches how to face the battle with the enemy according to Ephesians 6.
In this sermon from Mark 1:16–34, Pastor Kelly explores the authority of the real Jesus—the One who calls ordinary people, silences darkness, and brings healing where brokenness lives. Through powerful stories of discipleship, spiritual resistance, and Jesus' unmatched power, we're invited to examine the rival authorities competing for our trust. Ultimately, this message asks one defining question: will we give Jesus our yes and crown Him as King over every part of our lives?
This week we continue to ponder the question “Who is this?” as we encounter Jesus through the stories of some of his earliest ministry experiences in Matthew's Gospel. As both Pastor Kelly and Pastor Jorge have already alluded to, this is a question that echoes around Jesus throughout his ministry and also directly impacts who we understand ourselves to be as a people who seek to follow in his way with passion and purpose today. Our scripture reading for this
In this message, Pastor Kelly touches on how Stan tempts us to trip us up.
Pastor Kelly talks about how Satan works to confuse us in what God is saying.
But, new things can be better! – even if it's not what you expected! - Isaiah 43:18-19 (NLT) “But forget all that—It is nothing compared to what I am going to do. 19 For I am about to do something new. See, I have already begun! Do you not see it? I will make a pathway through the wilderness. I will create rivers in the dry wasteland. I am about to do something new– bringing forth a new thing! But, sometimes loss is the way to gain. Sometimes pain is the way to purpose. Some people might be better at some things, it doesn't make them better – The religious people could quote the laws (and thought they were better than everyone) but Jesus was not happy with them. MATTHEW 23:1-7, 11-13 Then Jesus said to the crowds and to his disciples, 2 “The teachers of religious law and the Pharisees are the official interpreters of the law of Moses.3 So practice and obey whatever they tell you, but don't follow their example. For they don't practice what they teach.4 They crush people with unbearable religious demands and never lift a finger to ease the burden. 5 “Everything they do is for show. On their arms they wear extra wide prayer boxes with Scripture verses inside, and they wear robes with extra long tassels. 6 And they love to sit at the head table at banquets and in the seats of honor in the synagogues. 7 They love to receive respectful greetings as they walk in the marketplaces, and to be called ‘Rabbi.' 11 The greatest among you must be a servant. 12 But those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted. 13 “What sorrow awaits you teachers of religious law and you Pharisees. Hypocrites! For you shut the door of the Kingdom of Heaven in people's faces. You won't go in yourselves, and you don't let others enter either. Better depends on what you need; what you are using something for– Better is relative to purpose. And each of us have and serve a different purpose in our jobs, in our lives, in our families, in our churches, in our ministry, in our relationships Better is perspective God is better. But sometimes life might get worse. What if better is not what God is doing FOR me– but what God is doing THROUGH me. Sometimes we think we know better– We think we know better than God, and it causes chaos.

As we enter Advent 2025, Pastor Kelly Roth invites us into a season of waiting, reflection, and hopeful anticipation. Advent reminds us that God meets us in the ordinary—just as He met Zechariah and Elizabeth in their everyday faithfulness—and invites us to anchor our hope not in outcomes, but in the unshakable promises of God.In this Week 1 message on HOPE, Pastor Kelly unpacks Luke 1 and the story of Zechariah, Elizabeth, and the miracle that prepared the way for Jesus. Through Scripture, honest reflection, and practical insight, we explore what it means to live in the “now” and the “not yet”—to trust God in the waiting, to root our hope in His character, and to remember that He is with us, even when life feels uncertain.Whether you're entering this season with joy, disappointment, or longing, Advent invites all of us to slow down, refocus, and hold onto the hope that anchors our souls.“We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure.” —Hebrews 6:19For the full gathering of this message which includes worship, visit our Youtube channel. Today, on Karl and Crew, we finished the week discussing identity in Christ. As followers of Christ, we cannot conform to the expectations and culture of the world; our identities are found in Him. We turned to John 14:6, which affirms that, as it says, Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life, and that no one can come to the Father without going through Him. We also turned to 2 Corinthians 5:17, where Paul tells us that we are new creations in Christ. Therefore, our identities should align with Him. Jon Kelly also shared his testimony on finding his new identity in Christ. Pastor Kelly is a husband, father, and Lead Pastor of Chicago West Bible Church. He is also an alumnus of Moody Bible Institute. We also had Heather Rice Minus join us to discuss prison ministry. Heather is the President and CEO of Prison Fellowship, the nation’s largest Christian nonprofit serving prisoners, former prisoners, and families. Today, on Karl and Crew, we kicked off the week with a LIVE in-studio audience as we discussed the importance of sharing the Gospel in a sincere and simple way. The Gospel is to be accessible by all, therefore we need to be intentional about the way we share it with others. We should share it in a way that all can understand. We turned to 2 Corinthians 11:3 where Paul expresses concern about believers being misled by false teachers simply because they don’t understand the simple and truthful gospel. How can you share the gospel in a way where it makes sense to everyone? We also had Pastor Jon Kelly share his testimony of how Jesus met him in solitary confinement. Every week, we receive numerous prayer concerns. As pastors, we seek to pray over all these prayer concerns. When you combine the full prayer list with our cares and hospitalization list, it can be overwhelming. Just this week, some of our fellow church members received discouraging cancer news. We also held funerals for two beloved church members. Earlier in the week, Pastor Kelly conferred with one of our missionaries in Thailand whose community and country have been affected by a horrible earthquake. Thousands have died, and the number continues to grow. The combination of all these situations is overwhelming. Then we come to our text in Romans 8:28. “And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.” When times are good, when we have steady jobs, when our families are doing well, when no one is sick, and there have been no recent deaths, it is easy to say that we know God will work all things together for good of those who love Him. But what about the other times? What about those listed above? In those times, we need to be sure that we know what we are professing when we quote Romans 8:28. — Pastor Chad McDonald
